I had an issue with my door lock and called Jake on a Saturday morning. Within a couple of hours, he was already at my house and had the problem fixed. He gave me a quote over the phone and clearly explained that, as he's VAT registered, VAT would be added to the prices. Jake was very friendly, professional, and easy to talk to throughout the visit. He not only fixed the issue efficiently but also gave me some helpful advice on improving my home security and pointed out a couple of things that could potentially invalidate my home insurance, which was really useful to know. He also suggested adding a small improvement to my lock to make it easier to use day to day for a very reasonable additional cost, and I'm really glad I took his advice. I also appreciated the different payment options available - card, bank transfer, or cash - so I didn't have to worry about finding a cash machine on top of everything else. Overall, I'm very happy with the service and would highly recommend Jake for anyone needing a reliable, honest, and professional locksmith.

Can highly recommend J Carter Locksmiths. They gave me a reasonable quote for a new door lock mechanism and 2 double glazed windows which just needed the glass replacing. They did a great job so I used them again to replace a rotting door on a garden cabin. Again they did a brilliant job and cleared up afterwards.

We had a problem with one of our conservatory doors as we couldn't lock it. I called Jake and he arrived in about 10 minutes as he was in the area. He identified that the door was misaligned. He quoted a price to fix the problem and then sorted it really quickly. Not only was he efficient and knowledgeable but a very pleasant character and a pleasure to deal with. While I didn’t actually end up using JCarter Locksmiths, I still wanted to leave a review because of how helpful they were. I’d locked myself out of my flat and was frantically calling around local locksmiths. They couldn’t pick up at the time, but about 15 minutes later they called me back, apologising as they were at their daughter’s swimming lesson. Even though they couldn’t attend due to this, they took the time to talk through my situation, gave me a clear idea of what the job should cost, and pointed out red flags to watch out for so I wouldn’t get ripped off. As someone who’s never needed a locksmith before, that advice was genuinely invaluable. They also recommended some trustworthy local alternatives I could try. Really appreciated the honesty, professionalism, and willingness to help even when they weren’t getting the job. Will definitely be my first port of call should I need a locksmith again in the future.
JCarter Locksmiths fitted a new lock to my back door in Feb 26. Recently I have experienced problems closing that door, although I was able to lock it. I phoned Jake. Although I confirmed a response within a week was okay, he responded very quickly coming to my house the same day. He confirmed the lock was good, but the springs in the handles had failed. He replaced the handles, there and then, and left a very happy, satisfied customer, who will definitely use him again and highly recommend him to others

We needed locks for my dad’s new home. Jake replied within a few minutes to my text, gave good recommendations as to lock security levels, and had my dad’s locks changed within a few days for a price that would not have been much different to me buying the locks online and then wrecking my dad’s patio doors trying to change them. We were unable to open patio door, so contacted JC. They came over quickly, and for a fixed price they were able to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately it wasn’t a simple job so we definitely got value for money! They needed to order a part and returned the following week to fit (this is what suited my availability). Initially the new lock was really tough to open, but since the following day the lock has been far easier to unlock and open than it’s ever been! I wish we had contacted Jake & Josh earlier, the lock may not have broken! They were both brilliant in every way, thank-you!

Fantastic service! I needed my flat door lock changing for security reasons. I texted Joel just before 4pm and he replied within a few minutes to enquire about the lock and check he had the parts. He gave me an ETA, arrived promptly and got straight to work, informing me of what he was doing and only changing parts that needed changing. By 5.30pm it was done and I could relax! Joel is the perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism. The price was good value - especially as it was Sunday and he attended so swiftly. We accidentally locked ourselves out our house, after calling around and not finding much hope we found Jcarter and honestly so thankful for Jake coming out to us so quickly, he did an amazing job with no damage to the door and got us back in the house in no time at a fair price. 10/10 would recommend and will be using in the future as it’s more than likely this will happen again lol.

Jake and his colleague responded quickly to an issue we had with our front door Yale lock. They took apart the lock identified the issue and repaired at a reasonable charge without the need for a replacement. Am stating this as have used other lock specialists elsewhere who took the opportunity to suggest a new lock and all the additional expense that may have incurred. I would strongly recommend them.

After contacting Jake to come and quote on replacing some blown windows we found he and Joel are highly skilled in many areas and extremely dedicated to excellent workmanship. When they returned they completed fitting a new oak stair spindles and bannister, hung a new internal door, replaced 3 blown window panes, replaced two locks, two handles, secured our garage, fitted a garage fascia, new hinges to several windows and adjusted fittings. We had spent the day driving back from France. Got back about 12 Sunday night and could not get in the front door, lock busted. We were knackered, kids crying etc. I must have tried 15 different locksmiths that claimed to have 24/7 emergency call out in the Bournemouth/Dorset area. Only 6/7 answered and said they were not working or could not get to us. I finally got hold of Jake who was with us within about 15 minutes. He got us access into our house and secured the front door. He also returned the next day to fix the mechanism that had broken on the door and replace the locks. Had the amazing pleasure of stumbling across jake's number in a time of crisis of coming back to our property after flooding to help get us back in as we lost keys and not only that he stayed awhile to discuss all options an wasted no time ringing friends in the trade to see if they could help in our time of need an also took the time to make sure my partner and mother in law was OK as it was the family home.
