Verified Google Business Profile Not Showing on Maps: A Trade Business Check

Separate a missing profile from a business that is present but not ranking. Copy a repeatable check and support record before changing your listing.

First decide what is actually missing

If your verified profile is not showing, check its public business-name result and its account status before treating the problem as poor rankings. A plumber absent from a search for “plumber near me” may still have a public profile. A profile that opens from its saved Maps link but ranks below other businesses needs a different investigation from one marked suspended.

Use the actual trading name and town for your first check. Google describes this as a way to find a profile. Then inspect the profile while signed into the account that manages the business. Write down the exact status, rather than assuming that a previous confirmation email proves the current state.

This worksheet is for locating and diagnosing one existing profile. For routine improvements, use the Google profile guide.

Run the same three checks and keep the evidence

  1. Management check: open the existing business in its owning account. Record its business name, current status and any action Google requests.
  2. Public check: open the existing Maps link in a signed-out browser and search the exact business name plus town. Record what appears, the URL, date and screenshot.
  3. Service check: search the actual service plus location, recording the searcher's location if known. Keep this result separate from the public-name check.

A signed-out window removes the management view; it does not make search results identical for everyone. Keep device, search wording and location consistent when you later compare results. If you cannot find the saved link, record that gap and use the name-and-town search rather than making a second profile.

Use the status message to choose the fix

Google may request verification again after business details change. Use the methods offered in your account; Google chooses the available methods. The existing video verification guide helps with evidence preparation when that option is offered.

For a suspension, begin with the reason shown and Google's linked help route. Do not attempt to replace the profile with a renamed copy. For a recent edit, record the edit date and its current approval/status before repeatedly changing fields. Google's profile-finding guidance describes processing delays, but an elapsed waiting period is not evidence that the profile has been fixed.

If the public profile is present, Google explains local results through relevance, distance and prominence. Complete accurate details and genuine evidence of your work support the first and third factors. Changing a service area does not make your business physically nearer to every searcher.

Copy this support record before contacting Google

  • Actual business name and town: ___
  • Existing Maps URL/profile identifier, if available: ___
  • Account that manages it confirmed: yes/no; do not share passwords or verification codes.
  • Current account status and exact notice: ___
  • Last verification confirmation and later re-verification request: ___
  • Last name/address/category edit and observed status: ___
  • Public-name search, date, device and result: ___
  • Saved Maps link result and screenshot: ___
  • Service search and searcher's stated location: ___
  • Action already taken, reference and result: ___
  • Remaining question for support: ___

Keep the private account evidence out of public forum screenshots. Ask a precise question such as “The owner view shows [status], but the existing public link gives [result] on [date]. Which requested action remains?” This is more useful than “Google has hidden me.”

Fictional electrician example: present, but not in the local results

Fictional diagnostic example. An electrician can open their public Maps link and find the business by its real name and town. A broad “electrician near me” search from another town does not show the business among the first results. The worksheet records “public profile present; service-query visibility unresolved”, rather than “verification failed”. The owner checks accurate category, offered services and actual coverage using the Google growth guide.

After a correction, repeat the same checks and record the observed result. Count actual calls, quotes and bookings using the customer-stage ledger. Finding a profile is a visibility check; a booked job has its own record. Use Tradehand's business app to keep the work that follows a customer call in one place.
