I have used Openings for many years and being a local company, I have always found them very helpful and supportive. I contacted them after my garage door was damaged beyond repair. I was in shock and they were very patient to explain my options for a new one and took time to cover any queries I had....and there were quite a few ! Their pricing was comparable to my Insurance Company and at no time did they put me under pressure to confirm the order, unlike other companies looking for a quick sale. Doors now installed and looking lovely. Thank you

Good overall service with good response when some faults appears . I have to say that although I'm not sure how well the reset works I'm happy that I can rely on them to fix it as they do seem attentive as respond to calls.

For 6 years my shutter has been broken and only allowed me to use the manual opening. This was far from ideal with an injured shoulder. Finally the manual wind broke and I was under the impression the only option was to replace the whole unit costing thousands. Thankfully I found Openings. The team were fantastic and told me that the motor could be replaced, something at least 10 other companies had told me wasnt possible!!!!! The workmen have been today and fixed it for me. For the first time in years I have been able to open the shutter without pain! Absolute legends, thank you so much

Good afternoon Ed, I just wanted to send you a message in relation to the two gentleman that turned up to sort my garage door out. I have been unwell and not retaining information very well so I had it in my head that they were arriving after 1 o’clock. When they turned up, I had just got out of the shower! They were both so kind and understanding and happy to wait well I’ve got myself sorted. My garage is full of loads of junk but also has my Zimmer frame and wheelchair that need to be close to the opening. The guys had to take out quite a lot of stuff in order to be able to access the garage properly. I apologised profusely to them but they were just so sweet and reassured me.that it was not an issue at all. When they put everything back in the garage they made sure that my wheelchair and Zimmer frame were close to hand. Their whole attitude was really professional but also incredibly kind and understanding. I’m sure you probably get whingy emails at times so I just wanted to let you know how great your guys were and how much it was appreciated. All the very best, Karen S

Openings have just repaired a broken cable on one of the 2 garage doors that they supplied and fitted for me in 1996. Doors are still in great condition and service from Openings is still excellent. Fitters were skilled, polite and helpful.

I had a new garage door fitted via my letting agent. When I managed to get to the property to check the work I was dismayed that the wooden frame was badly weathered and had been left with bare wood and flaking paint but on further inspection it was far worse as the door had been fitted to a rotten frame and the side on which the door was hung had been partially cleared of rot but left completely bare and no mastic to fill the gap (quite a big gap in places). If spending £1k for a new door then it would have been nice for the surveyor to have identified that the frame was rotten and offer me the option to replace the frame for a few extra quid (all it needed was three bits of 4x2 and two coats of paint). Had I been at the property I would have seen for myself but I have not been there for some time and rely upon quality tradesmen. I expect the frame to maybe last another 2-3 years at which point the door will need to come off again to fit a new frame and then re-hang the door. It would have been so much easier to do a proper job in the first instance. Very disappointing.

Had an engineer out from openings to fix a recurring problem with our gate which was only resolved temporarily. Mistakes can happen, hence we asked openings back again to reassess. The second engineer also mis-diagnosed the cause of the error before arranging a quote of recommendations circa £6k to update our gate system. We sought a second opinion from another company who demonstrated the problem and rectified it within minutes - it was absolutely nothing to do with what Openings advised. Disappointed but Paul was very professional and keen to try and resolve any concerns we may have had.

Thanks Openings. Our gates were damaged by accidentally being driven in to. Within ten days you have visited, carried out an assessment, sent a quote and today you have carried out the repair which was quite extensive. It was expertly done by James who services the gates bi-annually in an efficient, pleasant and courteous manner and they are now working very well again. Thank you Openings.

Had an issue with our gates (15 years old supplied by a business no longer around), called up Openings to see if they could help but during covid-19 this wasn’t possible, the lady who answered suggested the problem could be with the start-run capacitors, swapped them and all back and running! Amazing that the person picking up the phone is so knowledgable and helpful, many thanks and will be making sure I come to you for future needs and business.

I recommend this company for their prompt, efficient and courteous service. Our garage door was broken and Openings said they could send an engineer the next day. Within a few minutes of arriving, the friendly engineer had fixed the problem before I could offer him a cup of tea. And the bill was much lower than anticipated. Draw your own conclusions but this is my experience with Openings. Their website did not contain the info I was looking for such as gate designs or lead times to manufacture, so I visited the shop three Saturdays ago. The lady in the shop could not answer my questions and did not appear to know a great deal. I was informed that I needed to speak with David Makeham who was away that day. She took my details to give to him and said he would call the following Monday. I asked to see a brochure, there were none available. I was told that Openings do not make gates and they used independent fabricators. It was suggested that I find pictures of gates I liked and to send them to Openings. They would then source a fabricator. I also noticed that the price list on the wall was dated 2016, when I pointed this out it was just laughed off. So I waited over three weeks till eventually the engineer called me to arrange a survey. Once on site he immediately told me that a sliding gate couldn't be installed on my driveway as it had a slight slope. They could only be installed on level ground so that would have to be addressed first. The prices given by the engineer were as follows; for a 5m x 1.5m steel gate would be £4000, the electric motor was £2000, the steel beam for it to run on was £1000 plus another £1000 to supply ancillary parts to meet safety regulations and an installation fee of £800. So £8800 in total. My own research has identified custom gate manufacturers that can produce one the size and styke I want for around £1500 plus a motor system at £250 so I think I will try elsewhere.

Openings installed automated steel gates for us. This involved groundworks, gate and motor installation and the electronic access setup. All works were managed very efficiently by Openings and the various trades involved did a fantastic job. We have no regrets using Openings and would definitely recommend them.
