Downs Side were fantastic from start to finish. Having used them on a different property 12 years ago we had no hesitation calling them again. It was great to see many of the guys are still part of the team which is testament to the way Downs Side is run. The team at Downs Side helped design and build my new loft conversion. They were on budget and produced a very high quality finished product. I had a few additional contractors on-site during the works and they also complimented the quality of the "behind the scenes" works (something they see often in their respective trades). Downs Side managed everything from start to finish, taking onboard my thoughts and changes throughout the process. I would highly recommend.
The whole team is very friendly and approachable. Gave us a competitive price and started when they advised. Found them easy to deal with and responded to messages, calls and emails quickly. All issues we had were discussed and resolved easily. The timescale stated for the work was spot on, all completed as they originally stated. They have undertook the same works to neighbours and local properties who all stated the same as me. I would highly reccommend and would definately use them again.

Our experience with Downs Side was absolutely fantastic. Everything was completed on time, and exactly to budget. As with all building projects, there were minor snags as we went through, but they were always sorted immediately, and often before we even noticed. They were able to source extra tradespeople at very short notice (eg when we decided we wanted built in wardrobes or when stages were completed earlier than expected) and so I don’t think we went a single day without someone coming to do something helpful. Every person who came to the house was friendly, helpful and clean, and they made a huge effort to make sure they were safe around our toddler and quiet when the baby was sleeping, which we really appreciated! We very quickly had complete faith in Stuart and Brian to oversee the build and special thanks to Chris and Gary who did an incredible job on the main structural work. We couldn’t be happier with the finished product, and the price was very good. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
Downside completed a loft extension for me. After receiving a very fair and well informed quote. We went for Downside and where very pleased. All correspondence was very official and clear but on the phone it was a friendly and laid back conversation. With out a doubt a pleasure to deal with. Brian and Steve where easy to talk to and kept me well informed of the progress. With fast responses and strait talking i would not hesitate to recommend to a friend. There was help and advice through the whole process allowing the whole experience to be stress free.
Downs Side have just finished a single storey extension for us and we are so pleased with the work they've done. Everything has been finished to a high standard and the finished extension looks fantastic. The guys who were on site were all friendly and polite and always left the site tidy and organised. They have been really quick to reply to any emails or texts and help with any queries we've had throughout the project. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We have used Down Side Builders four times since 2011 and have been very satisfied with the work done on all the occasions, from building an extension, to removing an interior wall and w.c to enlarge a bedroom, to replacing a flat roof with a pitched one and most recently extending a downstairs w.c to incorporate a shower unit. Loft extension 2016: throughout the whole process, Downside Builders exceeded our expectations. The team feels like part of our family now. We commissioned Downs Side to work on a two-loft project (ourselves and our semi-detached neighbours), following a local recommendation. This project also involved some downstairs extension work on both properties. I commend their work and their keenness to satisfy us as their clients. We were particularly pleased with the professional behaviour of their workmen - always courteous and mindful of language, cleanliness, etc. We are very satisfied with the finished product. There were minor challenges along the way (as you would expect with any job of this scale) - these were all resolved amicably, reasonably and fairly.
We must be the only people in the world who were sad to see our builders leave! It was a long job, almost knocking down and rebuilding but we love our house and everybody who visits us says "WOW!" The project: demolish internal walls of existing bungalow, remove flat roof on old kitchen extension to create high ceiling with windows. Create chimney for range cooker. Convert ground floor bedroom into large bathroom. Add staircase, build two double ensuite bedrooms and rebuild roof. Finished to provide: large open plan living/kitchen area, under stair storage, double bedroom and large bathroom downstairs, two double bedrooms each with own bathroom upstairs. Wonderful family house! (they even put a weathervane up for us as a "topping off" ceremony!)
Loft Extension, during lockdown! We are thrilled with the final result. The quality of the workmanship is high and all of the many different tradespeople were professional, friendly and accommodating and very skilled. We used the company’s own architect who really made the most of the space available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project took twice as long as planned. Despite these difficult circumstances, Stuart and the company managed the situation extremely well by keeping in touch, restarting as soon as it was safe to do so and completing the project in good time after reopening. We would highly recommend DownsSide.
What a find Downs Side builders are! they have converted my tiny 2 bed bungalow into a 3 bed house, they advised on all aspects of the design and build and have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to what you can and can't do.
