Choosing the Right Van
Electricians need enough length for cable drums and conduit but don't always need the weight capacity of a full-size panel van. The most popular choices are:
- Ford Transit Custom SWB (Short Wheelbase): 2.5m load length, manageable size for residential streets and car parks. The most common electrician van in the UK.

Recommended stock levels for domestic electricians:
- 2.5mm² twin and earth: 100m drum (most used cable)
- 1.5mm² twin and earth: 50m or 100m drum
- 1.0mm² twin and earth: 25–50m

Van Security: Protecting Your Tools and Your Livelihood
