Gutter, fascia and soffit problems

10 problems

Caution

Gutter Overflowing In Heavy Rain

Water pours over the front edge of the gutter during a downpour instead of running along to the downpipe.

Caution

Gutter Overflowing But Not Blocked

You have cleared the gutter and it still spills over in heavy rain, or it only ever overflows in the worst downpours.

Low risk

Gutter Leaking At A Joint

Water drips steadily from the join between two lengths of gutter, or from a corner, even in light rain.

Caution

Sagging Gutter

A length of gutter has dropped in the middle or pulled away from the fascia, so water sits in it instead of running away.

Caution

Blocked Downpipe

The gutter fills and overflows while the downpipe stays dry, or water backs up and spurts from a joint in the pipe.

Caution

Rotten Fascia Board

The board behind the gutter is soft, flaking, blistered or crumbling, and paint no longer holds on it.

Caution

Rotten Or Sagging Soffit

The horizontal board under the eaves overhang is soft, stained, bowing down, or has a hole in it.

Caution

Birds Or Wasps Getting In Behind The Soffit

You can hear scratching, buzzing or chirping at the eaves, and there is a gap or hole where the soffit meets the wall or fascia.

Caution

Water Running Down The Wall Behind The Gutter

The gutter is clear and not overflowing, but there is a wet stripe or green algae growth on the wall directly beneath the eaves.
