Mike's done a few different jobs for us over the last 3 years, and we'd highly recommend him. He is always responsive to enquiries and tells you exactly when he can schedule in your job/keeps you informed - if only everyone would do this! - and is helpful with providing advice. All the jobs he's completed have been excellent quality and very neat/tidy etc (he even filled the holes he needed to make in walls - handy for rubbish DIY people like us 😀). Mike also saved us from a situation where a fitter had wired our new electricity meter incorrectly and dangerously - from my description of the issues we were encountering, he immediately realised there was a major problem and came out to fix it as an urgent job even though it shouldn't have been his responsibility. Prices charged are always more than fair for the work done and transparent. We will always ask Mike for any future electrical work we need!

I rang panicked for Mike's help with an electrics issue at a late hour. Ringing a tradesman can be frightening when you haven't met them before, especially in a stressful situation. Mike is a fantastic electrician. Came within a couple of days, assessed the job and emailed the quote the same day. Straight away, I could tell that he was someone who had an attention to detail. We messaged Mike the day after Boxing Day after drilling through a wire and losing the boiler - he was here within 90 minutes, fitted a junction box, replastered and came back the next morning to finish off. Very friendly and professional, and very fairly priced as well. Definitely recommended

Rapid response to my enquiry. An electrician was with us in 30 mins , they went above and beyond to explain everything they checked and were very thorough. Once the issue was resolved they advised us of further choices regarding our electrics. All in all a great service, friendly knowledgeable and professional, for a reasonable price. Gave me advise over the phone, when I was having a meltdown about my electrics blowing out downstairs (The week of Christmas) Mike directed me with what to do calmly and talked me through it all. It ended up being a cooker fault and I worried about it all evening so asked a few hours later if he was able to fit us in to just check over the wall sockets as it looked like an electrical burn in a socket. He came around the very next morning and we are so grateful for that. Turns out we need a new cooker and he even gave us advice on that to. Top service, great value and very happy over all. Highly highly recommend.

Mike was quick to respond to my request for him to replace a decrepid junction box in the attic for our upstairs lighting circuit. He was able to fit in the job the same week. His quote was accurate and he arrived on time to carry out the work. The new junction box was neatly installed. Very professional and helpful. Like many people requiring an expert opinion but not sure who to trust I googled local electricians and MHY Electricals came up with exceptional ratings and reviews and I must say they are absolutely correct..! I had just recently moved to the area and arranged for Mike to visit the day we got the keys to check the safety of the electrics which he did without question, spending over 4 hours of his own time inspecting and repairing broken sockets to ensure me and my family were safe. Following this free visit and advice we decided to replace the consumer unit, which was a very old 1960s style with multiple years of additions with an up to date safer RCD protected system. We also decided to improve the kitchen lights removing the single lamp with energy efficient LED spotlights, replacing the thermostat and broken lights and plug sockets throughout the house. During this very stressful time Mike has been second to none, ensuring our safety, which is Mike’s number one priority, fitting us in on his weekends to make sure we were brought up to date with safety as soon as possible. Throughout the works MHY Electricals were reliable, friendly and respectful of my home even helping me to wall mount my TVs and install a loft light so I could safely install insulation and remove the redundant water storage tank. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without MHY Electricals in our first month; in our new first house. His 30+ years of experience in the industry and professionalism have enabled them to give us sound advice on a varying topic of home improvement / construction ideas and the quotes were always detailed and sent promptly after reviewing the works. Mike did a full rewire of our 3 bed house and we're really happy with the result. Mike has great attention to detail and takes pride in his work. Mike was happy to talk us through different options and very patient while we worked through some challenges, as first time renovaters this was hugely appreciated! Mike is professional, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. He got our underfloor heating working again and then we asked him back to replace the main fuse box. MHY Electrical come to re-route a cable which a previous electrician had left dangerously under the carpet, MHY Electrical not only routed the cable properly (under a stud floor and up a stud wall), but did so in a friendly and professional manor with no fuss! We booked Mike in to install additional electrical sockets in our garage. Mike was professional in his work and provided helpful suggestions about the best location and height to site the new sockets. He also was able to fit in some additional work repairing a faulty electrical kitchen socket and two light sockets at the same time. I would definitely recommend MHY electrical services for any work you are considering and will hopefully be using Mike again for future work. It’s worth noting however, that Mike is extremely busy, although that is only an additional evidence of someone who does a good job!

I recently used MHY Electrical to fit a series of new sockets throughout my house. Mike (who is clearly a bit of a perfectionist) was excellent throughout, with excellent communication and impeccable work. As someone who is relatively new to DIY I very much appreciated Mike talking me through exactly what he was doing – it’s nice to learn, if only on a superficial level. Highly recommended.

We hired MHY Electrical to update almost our entire electrical system, including moving many sockets out of skirting boards, figuring out what was where and installing a brand-new fuse box. Most areas needed a full rewire and there were a variety of other ‘interesting’ aspects that revealed themselves over the course of the work and needed sorting out. Mike’s attention to detail was fantastic, with much thought given to how each aspect of the work would affect the rest of the system. He gave us step by step explanations of what he was planning to do and why, and what the outcomes would be. As we were also living in the house as the work progressed, Mike made sure that there were always rooms we could access and use every evening, along with temporary electrics overnight as needed. The work areas were kept neat and tidy and cleaned up at the end of each day. Every hole was filled and sanded, and every floorboard safely fixed back down. We would have no hesitation in recommending MHY Electrical to anyone. In addition to all of the above – as I have recently passed my City & Guilds Domestic Electrical Installer exams – I also got some great, hands-on work experience myself! Mike is a former teacher and his patience, encouragement and clear instructions gave me great deal of confidence and helped me understand a lot of the practical aspects to electrical work that they just don’t teach you in a classroom!

First class service from this firm. I called them on Saturday evening when the lights in my elderly parent's house had fused. The electrician came round very quickly and fixed the problem and came back the following day to fit a much-needed new kitchen light. The price was very reasonable indeed. I really appreciate the kindness and the prompt and efficient service. I highly recommend this firm.

Mike has been absolutely fantastic. I got in him to do a full rewire of our bungalow, plus quite a lot of other bells and whistles. The job was far from straightforward and other electricians didn't want to touch it with a bargepole. Mike answered straight away and booked us in as soon as he was able. The job constantly evolved as Mike was working on it and he was very understanding with my constantly changing requirements, as we were also knocking down walls and completely remodelling the bare bones of the house while the rewire was ongoing. I should note as well that Mike did a brilliant job filling in all the channeled walls and holes that were created during the work. MHY Electrical were highly recommended by a friend who used them for a rewiring of their house. Mike of MHY is very professional and just as you would expect works safely and to a high standard. Mike upgraded our consumer unit to the latest safety standard and carried out a full inspection of our properties electrical circuits. The installation of the new consumer unit was registered with the correct authorities and we have received all necessary installation and inspection certificates. We feel the cost of the work was priced correctly for the length of time it took to complete. Communication from Mike was great and he arrived when he said he would. Mike is easy to talk to and happy to explain the work he is undertaking. MHY came highly recommended to us and I also highly recommend them to whoever needs professional electrical services.

I was left without power to all my sockets after AO fitters couldn't install my oven and couldn't restore my power. Mike was very responsive after we called him for an emergency visit and he got our power back, installed my oven and fixed a dodgy socket too. Just goes to show you should call the professionals when you need a job doing!

Contacted Mike for what I thought was a simple job of replacing a shower... Uncovered a tale of dodgy electrical work from years past. Ancient fuse board and additional distrubution boards all replaced. Checked all the wiring in the house is safe and replaced an undersized supply for a washing machine. And all in the time between Christmas and new year.
