We've accidentally drilled into an electric cable, and called D Holt to ask if they could fix it urgently. Despite it being the evening, one of their electricians, Matt, arrived the following morning and resolved the issue within an hour. I recently contracted D Holt Electrical Services for the installation of a PV solar battery system at my home. From the initial consultation to the final setup, the experience was nothing short of excellent. D Holt Electrical Services was incredibly responsive. The instillation when very smoothly and was completed within the same day. Their professionalism and efficiency were commendable, and they went above and beyond to ensure the system was up and running smoothly. I’m very happy with the Growatt PV Battery system the recommend, It’s reliable, efficient, and has significantly reduced my reliance on grid electricity. I've used Dan for various jobs over the last 4 years. The jobs have ranged in size from installing a new fuse board to replacing a switch. Dan is always responsive by phone and email. He communicates well and arrives when he says he will. Work quality has always been spot on. I am so impressed by the exceptional service that D Holt Electrical Services offer. I had new lights and sockets installed. Dan quickly responded with a quote and provided a detailed explanation of the job. His colleague did a great job of refitting my lights, he was efficient and highly professional, discussing in detail what he was doing and making sure I was happy with the outcome. I wouldn’t contact anyone else for electrical work!

I called D. Holt with a non-urgent issue regarding a circuit breaker frequently being tripped. An appointment time was agreed upon and the technician, Matt, arrived as expected. I found the service to be very professional and efficient. A full diagnostic of my wiring was carried out, problem located, and suggestions for options explained. There was no attempt to suggest any work that was not immediately required. I myself asked about possible upgrades and a very reasonable quote was forthcoming. I selected D. Holt because of positive online reviews and I fully concur. I was happy to do business, I am very glad I now know of a local electrician I can fully trust, and I am indeed planning to have them in to do further work fairly soon.

What a Star! We lost power late Sunday evening and I was unable to reset the trip switch. (I know nothing about electrics!) Early Monday morning, armed with a list of electricians and very little phone battery, I began by ringing D Holt Electrical. As anticipated, he was fully booked and I prepared to ring the next on my list. However, rather than hang up, he spent time talking with me, assessing the situation and making a couple of suggestions. I followed his advice and was able to successfully reset the trip switch. The electrician arrived on time however was reluctant to wear a mask when entering my home and somewhat rudely asked if I'd be wearing one too. Very little was explained about the work needing to be done (I requested quotes for wall socket installation) and for one of the things I requested, he essentially refused to do, despite it being a service the company provides. He did not wear overshoes which I would have preferred as everywhere is carpeted and he touched quite a lot of my furniture without asking, including my bed which I found unprofessional. I'm disappointed by the visit and although it is significantly cheaper than other electricians in the local area, I won't be using their service.

We had a bit of a DIY mishap which resulted in a complete loss of power. Dan was brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful - he and his colleague visited on Friday morning and stayed for a couple of hours trying to isolate the fault, then returned on Tuesday with another colleague to repair it. We only bought our home quite recently and don't really know what we're doing, and Dan has been absolutely brilliant throughout - clear, punctual, always willing to explain to us what the problem was and what he was doing, and very reasonably-priced, and he'll be back next month to replace the fuseboard. We were very impressed!

Dan responded very quickly and understood exactly what we needed. A new consumer unit with RCD, connection of underfloor heating to a new circuit and connection of electric towel rail. We were also offered a pre-Christmas cancellation slot, which was perfect as we could finally enjoy a warm bathroom. Paul carried out the work efficiently and neatly. Dan carried out secondary fix and fuse board commissioning on our New build near Caldecote. He was extremely helpful on pre- installation advice and carried out the secondary fix quickly and competently. This is the second time I have worked with Dan and I would strongly recommend him.

I contacted Mr Holt early on a Saturday morning (3 Nov 2018) as an emergency to seek advice on repair of an electrical combination box. He was very helpful and guided me over the telephone to make a repair promptly. Excellent service, you are on our special list!

I rang D.Holt Electrical Services. Those Dan was busy on another clout, he took the time to give me instructions that made it possible for me to fix the problem myself. Dan responded promptly to my enquiry and came round the next day to supply and fit replacement mains powered smoke alarms. He did a neat job, was very polite and on time. :)

Very, very unhappy with this service. Called them over because I'd wired up an overhead light and after turning it on briefly (and successfully!) I couldn't get it to turn on again. I was so frustrated I finally decided to call an electrician, because I just wanted it to work. He came very promptly, which I appreciated, but stayed very briefly and gave me only one piece of advice, which is that the fitting was broken. I got no help in terms of how to go about replacing it, and was left with screws on the floor and exposed wires. I was charged £40 for having someone come out. I spent some time over the weekend having another go at it, and finally got it to work myself. It turned out, when I went to fix it, that the only thing he had told me (that the fitting was broken) was totally untrue. The fitting works fine, and is currently part of the now-functioning light. I called them to complain that I felt I had received no value for my £40, but the electrician who came out said he felt that there was nothing else he could have done. Which is clearly untrue, because I am in no way trained as an electrician and I managed to fix it. The problem needed to be worked through step by step (remove the plate and see that with just the fitting the light works, which it does, add back the plate and see if it still works, which it does, more carefully put back the earth wire and see if it still works, remain slightly puzzled as to why it wasn't working before and hypothesise that maybe the poor placement of the earth wire meant that it was acting as a capacitor or something but not really have any idea), and I felt that this is why I called an electrician. He also said that he didn't have the tools to do anything else, which I don't understand because surely the other point of calling an electrician is that in addition to expertise he or she brings the tools to get the job done. Is not the combination of these two the reason you're paying a base rate to have the electrician show up? Strongly would not recommend.
