Add A Room Ltd

Add A Room have helped transform our house into our dream home. They took the stress away by managing everything from start to finish, including architects drawings and planning. The guys on site were amazing, true professionals who are 100% dedicated and take real pride in their work. I still can not believe how quickly the new dormer went up when they converted our loft into a fantastic bedroom with en-suite bathroom. We was so impressed we also got them to convert our kitchen and dining room into one open-plan room with bifold doors that go strait out onto our decking. They also fitted the new kitchen and fully ripped out and fitted our new main bathroom. We just need to finish painting and have our new flooring and carpets fitted before we take pictures and fully share the amazing work they have done for us. We can not praise them highly enough. Well done chaps 👏

100% would reccomend to anyone. From the initial quote through to the very end they did everything they said they would. Artan and his team did a fantastic job of the loft extension and bathrooms they were always very polite and respectful whilst in the house and left the house tidy every single day. The finished loft conversion was exactly as we wanted and done amazingly, as were the bathrooms , all other trades that came in were the same respectful and did a brilliant job. We then had the kitchen fitted with them as they did such a good job, Jon the owner of the company is the most genuine man and a man of his word we had a couple of issues with the kitchen towards the end and he sorted it for us, thank you Jon. Equally he does visits throughout the build, checks in and checks everything is ok. If you want quality, family owned businesses and genuine people these are your guys. Thank you again

We used add a room for our single storey extension - which allowed us to extend our home and incorporate the dinning room with the kitchen. The service and support provided by their team throughout our project was excellent, and would highly recommend them. Thank you again. Bhavin and Belinda

We had AddaRoom do a large extension on our 1930's end of Terrance which included a double side extension, and single rear extension (it also included clearing the site first). The team are amazing and I echo other reviews they are the nicest builders, very efficient and professional. They were on site everyday from start to end and the builder was always available to us no matter when we called or messaged with questions. We are very happy with the results and cannot recommend AddaRoom enough, clear communication, you know what you are paying for and very friendly.

Had AddaRoom do a loft conversion for us, great team and probably the nicest builders you will ever meet, very efficient and professional. am very happy with the results

John, Gary, Flam, Clare, Rob and the entire team made the building process seamless. From our first meeting to the architectural drawings and a well-structured payment plan, every stage was handled with absolute precision. Any minor issues or changes during the build were swiftly addressed. Finding a reliable build team has been challenging, but now that we've discovered Add A Room, we feel confident in planning our next project with them.

Before we contacted Add a Room, we did a lot of research on other local companies. Add a Room gave us a good price for a garage conversion. Once agreed, they were professional throughout. Each step of the way they kept us informed and answered any queries promptly. I highly recommend Add a Room and would most certainly use them again. Thanks for everything Gary, Jon, Jon and Clare - great team work.

Loft extension completed in April 2024. Amazing service from start to finish!! Clear comms and quoting is accurate to the job. The workmen are very clean, punctual and highly skilled. Would definitely recommend and use them again for any future work I have.

Highly Recommend, I had a great experience. Gary and Jon were honest and clear from first visit to quote. They arranged for us to see a local job they’d completed, which helped relax my nerves. You’re about to spend alot of money, so you want to get to trust the people you select to do the work. They were able to start the job quickly, which was great. Johnny their builder was fantastic, really calm and professional. He is the hardest working builder I’ve ever met. We were so pleased with his work. And he was extremely clean and tidy. The job was completed on time and close to the quote (there was one issue with the way our boiler was fitted). I would recommend using them based on my experience.

The McAteer Project We decided to extend our house with a large 6 x 6.2 metre kitchen / dining room extension. Typical bifold doors across the back with a large lantern and crown roof. The existing kitchen / dining room would be split to become a utility on one side, a downstairs shower room on the other with a new hallway in between leading to the new extension. I asked AddaRoom to quote for the job, what I did not tell them was 2 years earlier they built an extension for my daughter and what an excellent job that was. AddaRoom quoted from planning to full build (excluding the kitchen and utility fit out), as this was left to a bespoke kitchen company to do. AddaRoom did fully fit out the downstairs shower room and I am sure they would have had absolutely no issues fitting out the kitchen and utility also. Gary from AddaRoom carried out a site survey, we exchanged ideas and we then received a competitive quotation. I asked Gary to proceed. Plans were lodged very efficiently with the council and after consultation passed very quickly. They had a first class team lead by Artan who arrived shortly after planning approval. Wow what excellent contractors AddaRoom have. Every single day, Artan and his men would arrived at 08.00 and would leave when that days work was complete. 5-6-7 pm Etc. worked every Saturday often to 5pm also. Every single trade from bricklayers/ plasters/ plumbers / electricians / gas fitters / tilers all had the same work ethic. I can sum this up…at 6pm the plumber had an issue with my boiler and Artan had to drag him out at 8pm as the plumber did not want to leave us without hot water for one night. The problem was sorted by 09.00 hrs the following day. Every night the house was secured and completely tidied. As this work was progressing well ahead of schedule, I asked AddaRoom if they could submit plans to convert my garage in to an office. Basically I had such confidence in AddaRoom I wanted to keep their men on site. Artan carried on with the main build which included substantial block work / RSJs / timber for a tiled crown roof (that was some fine engineering that went in to my roof !). As the extension was nearing completion and planning approval was passed for the garage conversion AddaRooms team stayed on site and completed that project also. During the whole process the Directors at AddaRoom conducted regular checks to ensure the project was on track and within budget. The budget only changed when I asked for additional work to be carried out. This was a substantial project carried out by an outstanding company. Have no hesitation recommending AddaRoom and their team of first class contractors. Photographs available on AddaRooms Facebook Page - McAteer Project. Paul McAteer Daws Heath

A great overall experience. Unable to secure any personal recommendations from friends and family, I took to undertaking my own research for a professional one-stop building company who could take the pain out of home renovations. Having come across Add A Room, I checked out their reviews, which all had a similar theme of customers praising the building teams used by AAR. There were a couple of bad reviews from years ago, but these were clearly relating to another company with a similar name. Having seen an AAR advertising board outside a home on the mother-in-law's housing estate, the mother-in-law didn't need asking twice to go and knock on the door for a verbal reference. This was glowing and they'd been recommended by two local friends. That gave me the reassurance I needed to contact AAR. I was never expecting AAR to be the cheapest, but with all the scare stories out there, I was happy to pay that premium for my own piece of mind. AAR assigned our project to Artan of ATP Construction Ltd, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. Once the project started, Artan and his great team were punctual and very tidy, 6 days a week. Artan was always contactable and responsive. Artan had wider team contacts across all trades, allowing them to coordinate perfectly. Our experience of Artan and his team was outstanding. Our building works began around September, was finished in November and we were decorated and furnished in time for Christmas. For anyone about to commit to a major building project for their home, who doesn't want the stress, risk, time burden and aggravation of coordinating it yourself, I would highly recommend speaking to Add A Room. My advice to myself if doing this again is to think about the small things - where should the lights/switches/sockets be, where are the radiators going, if that door/wall is exactly there does it perfectly fit your furniture, or does it need moving a cm or 2?

Did an excellent job on our attic extension. A pleasure to work with from start to finish

Loft conversion The project manager (Artan) and his team were fantastic. Everything was done to a high standard, they were friendly, considerate and trustworthy. I have never known builders to clean up after themselves so well either! Artan and his work deserve 5 stars without a doubt. However, giving Add a room 4 stars just because of some communication issues. Nothing major, but it was frustrating when we had to chase to find out what was going on. I understand that delays happen, but it would of been less stressful to have kept us informed. Would recommend and use again.

We really can’t recommend Add A Room enough. To be honest we were slightly worried about having the work done and thought it would be stressful. However, from the first visit from Gary who has been amazing throughout the whole build, it has actually been an enjoyable experience. Artan and his team are by far the best builders we have come across. Artan has been so helpful and wants everything done perfectly. His whole team have been so polite, calm and mindful that we have been living here while the works been going on. We are delighted with our new room; it has made a huge difference to us. A huge thank you to Gary and Jon at Add A Room and Artan and his whole team. You have all been fantastic.

Really pleased with the work carried out to extend our kitchen into part of our garage. Very professional throughout the build and all contractors used were of a high standard and very responsive to any queries. All in all very impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My wife and I did quite a bit of research as there is a wide range of companies or independent builders out there. However in the end we went with add a room as they were recommended by 2 friends who have done work with them. Add a room provided a competitive quote compared to all the other companies we worked with and delivered a great service. We had them build an extension to our edwardian terrace, rewire the ground floor, and build a cloak room under the stairs. There were different delays along the way due to things we ordered. However add a room were very flexible in accommodating these changes. Their team always showed up on time, and left the site tidy at the end of the day. I would also highly recommend our project lead (Artan). He is lovely to work with, very honest, and easily reachable.

We are so pleased with our lovely loft conversion. Add A Room's builder Artan is a master builder - it was a pleasure to have him and his team in our home. They were punctual, polite, tidy and professional. The finish is exceptional, and they made the process as clean and efficient as possible. We were impressed by how they listened to our desires, accommodated our requests and gave us good advice when we weren't sure when there were choices to be made. The Add A Room methodology is very comforting and helpful, as they made each stage and the pricing clear from the start. They are professional and good at what they do. We had a couple of issues that arose around a new chimney and fireplace, but we were pleased to be able to deal with them amicably and fairly. We have recommended Add A Room to our friends and would recommend Artan to anyone as he is a fantastic builder.

Had a full rear house extension done by the guys, we were. Very pleased with the work from start to finish. They helped on a number of extra internal jobs aswell to make sure the finish was exactly as we wanted it to be. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for any extension works done.

We used Add a Room for a single storey bungalow extension in 2021. From the first visit to the final sign off Add a Room were professional, efficient and very helpful. Jon, Gary, Steve and the team have done a wonderful job with the extension and kitchen fit. We are incredibly happy with the end result which our friends and family agree has been very professionally done. From the plans to the build itself, the external render to the floor fit, it has has all been done to a quality standard. Thank you for transforming our home for us!

Single story extension, 2020 We had been looking for a company to take care of the full end to end (planning submissions, architect drawings, building control etc) and had struggled to find one that we had confidence in and at a decent price. Add a room ticked all the boxes and were able to start in a decent time frame. Couldn’t be happier with the finished product, and appreciate all that Jon, Gary and Steve did to support throughout. Would 100% recommend - as our first major building work on our house we were made to feel very comfortable. Thank you

Loft conversion - December 2020 Having had rough quotes from a variety of contractors, Add a Room were a pleasure to deal with from the get go. Having a company that can take an idea and turn it into the finished product (Inc drawing, build regs, dealing with council) made the decision to use them the best we could have made. The team were polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Every day the team ensured the site was left tidy and we were kept fully updated with all developments. No hesitation in using again, and will do for a rear extension when funds allow. All the best.

We used Add A Room this summer for a loft conversion. From our initial consultation, we were extremely impressed. They listened to our requirements and rather than try and include unnecessary items produced a plan that was to our specification. We were lucky that one of their building teams became available and the project was able to proceed almost immediately. I have nothing but praise for the quality and speed of the work produced by Artan and his team, and also the project management, which took away much of the pain normally associated with building work. Would recommend to anyone looking to have this type of work on their house.

YOU’RE IN SAFE HANDS! I rarely leave reviews, not even on amazon, but we had a great experience with Add-A-Room, so I felt it was warranted. For me a company has to be about after sales as much as it is in the pre-sales and actual workmanship. Our experience bears this out with Add-A-Room. In the late summer of 2019 we had our garage converted by them, no problems, great workmanship and easy to deal with, some small snagging detail was finished without any fuss, it was all signed off and we are very happy with the work. I intended to leave a review in September, but got sidetracked. Then a couple of weeks ago, we noticed our security light wasn’t working as the nights drew in and it began to get darker. I called Add-A-Room and as soon as possible they prioritised it and it’s all fixed! Not all contractors would do this so efficiently and courteously. Many thanks to Alan, Chris, Gary, Steve and his team. Highly recommended! Many thanks, Scott

Similar experience to several others. Good sales pitch, started well then became very apparent they didn't have the skills to do a proper job. Simple loft conversion ended up taking 5 months with lots of delays and snagging that was never fixed. Had to hire another roofer to fix the leaks from the new loft. Would not recommend these cowboys.

We’re totally delighted with the end result: our new loft conversion looks fantastic. Addaroom and their working partners made the entire process very positive and went above and beyond at each stage. Great value too.

Back in 2012, Add A Room built us a single-storey extension and converted our garage into a Dining room. The whole team were professional throughout and delivered the whole project on time and to budget. I can't speak highly enough of them, and would gladly recommend them to anyone. Nearly 4 years down the line, and we're still delighted with the outcome. It's difficult to find reliable recommendations when it comes to construction, and our biggest fears were cost over-runs and quality of the job. Add A Room delivered on both counts - Cost was competitive, and was a fixed-price quote. The quality of the extension is fantastic, and the guys went the extra mile on several occasions. Another important point is that the site was always left clean, tidy and safe at the end of everyday - this was particularly important to us as we have 2 young children. I wish Add A Room the best of luck - they're a great team who take pride in their work.

Alan and Paul were attentive to our requirements and the installation team headed by Graham were excellent. The build was completed to the schedule originally planned and to a high standard. The loft extension has been installed now for 18 months and apart from a few minor niggles, that were quickly rectified by the team, we are very pleased with the result. We have no hesitation in recommending Add A Room to prospective clients.

AddARoom did my loft conversion to a very high standard. From start to finish the team worked hard and professionally to my requirements, Amazing team behind the work and i will always use AddaRoom for future projects.

After a prompt and clearly set out quote we ordered our extension and new kitchen. Add A Room undertook the work in a very timely and efficient manner with real flexibility over the inevitable changes and additions to the spec as work proceeded. Everything was done to a very good standard and on time.

We had our extension done with AddaRoom in 2012 and both Alan and Paul were extremely helpful through the whole process. Unlike many builders they actually provided us with a quote promptly and the work was completed on time. We have had no issues with any of the work.

Dear Add a Room Great thank you for our kitchen extension and loft to our terrace house completed June 2015 - everyone who has been to our place loves it and admires the workmanship - our neighbour is just having his loft done now through Add a Room too. We sincerely appreciated the kindness and approach with which you and your staff have treated us. Special mention has to be Kevin and Richard onsite who were absolutely marvellous, very understanding and helpful onsite explaining and helping shape our ideas. It's really great thank you! Richard & Bryn

Add a Room completed my kitchen extension and garage conversion over 2 years ago.I have every confidence in this company who strive to work within your budget to give you your dream extension. I am delighted with the work, their professionalism and their ability to make sure that the costumer gets what they want from start to finish is second to none. The workers were on time, hard working left and everything clean and tidy at the end of the day. Paul visited the site regularly to ensure everything was running smoothly and anything which needed addressing, was soon sorted. I would have total confidence recommending Add A room to my close friends and family and would definitely have no hesitation in asking them to carry out any future work.

Addaroom took all the hassle away from us on a major extension and refurbishment, in Wickford. We extended the whole back of the house (ground and first floor) as well as refurbishing and rewiring the existing space. Paul & Allan were great, we had two young children and had planned to move out for the main part of the works which lasted around 3 months however, when it came to the main break through, we decided not to leave, given how clean their team had kept everything, they also left us with full running services and a small kitchen which although created a little hassle for them to work round saved us 3 months rent not having to move out. The team were fantastic, the works were to a very high standard and nothing was to much trouble for them. I am in the business myself so know I wouldn't have been the easiest to work for but they did what they said they would do from the very start which made things so easy. Neil and Claire

We used Add a Room for a loft conversion about 3 years ago. They were extremely efficient polite & tidy. Any snags they quickly sorted out and kept us informed of any budgeting discrepancies. More than happy to recommend.

I had a Loft conversion done in Chafford Hundred by Addaroom in 2014. They took care of the complete project from Submission of Drawings to , making changes to get get Approval which was not easy! It was a major project involving removal of Roof to increase height for to maximise space. The team that worked on the project were highly skilled ably supported by a fantastic team leading all the way to Paul & Allan. The job was completed to a very high standard and have to give credit to AddaRoom for sticking to their quoted price. It was blind faith when we entered into a contract with Addaroom, something that I have not regretted!! I have not stopped recommending them ever since....

We had a 6 dormer loft conversion done and I have to say what a brilliant job they did. Very professional and very tidy workers. The job took 7 weeks as quoted and for a very good price. Thanks Add A Room.

We used addaroom about three years ago for a loft conversion. The team that built it was very professional and tidy. They completed the work on time and we are very happy with the work and are looking at using them again for a further extension. Any changes or questions we had we emailed or texted alan and they was answered quickly.

Add a Room completed both a garage conversion and also built a double garage and an extension to our house. We dealt with both Alan and Paul who were very professional. The quality of workmanship was second to none and they kept us informed every step of the way. Paul actually did quite a bit of the work himself. Add a Room were also the most competitive price wise so overall, we are extremely pleased.

I had a quote from Add A room for a loft conversion, I was not put under any pressure to accept and we discussed any changes that I wanted. Alan and his team were very helpful, I gave them my budget and they completed the quote to fit my budget. I decided to go ahead with the quote, they arrived on the first day promptly, the staff Alan used were polite and kept the area tidy after each day when they finished. The different tradesmen for the different jobs electrician, carpenter etc, always arrived on time and there was no time lapse waiting for the next job, work went on continuously under the careful eye of Alan, who called in to check progress of the work and to make sure I was happy. Happy I was more than happy, when the conversion was completed! As it came in straight on budget and I couldn't believe that my old loft was now a lovely playroom for my children. They have had many hours of fun and a I live in a bungalow, it's a godsend that all the toys can go upstairs. I would not hesitate and have not hesitated to recommend Add a Room to anyone considering building work. Well done Add a Room, keep up the good work. Mrs S Walker

When i first met the guys at Add A Room I was filled with confidence that they would make our home everything we imagined when we were considering an extension. They did not disappoint! We have a beautiful extension and a wonderful family space now which is everything we hoped it would be. The quality of finish is perfect and the team were so helpful and considerate during the build. We were so impressed with the guys we are now having a loft conversion done too!

The add a room team that built our loft extension were great - done in 6 weeks as promised! Professional, clean & post build they were more than happy to address any snagging issues. We had an issue with the roof about 18 months after the build & Alan was more than happy to send someone over! Would recommend & happy for anyone to look at the work done by Add a Room! Alayne (Rayleigh)

Use these cowboys at your peril. Had an absolute nightmare with them . I would be here all day typing my experience. So just email or contact me for a full description. Last I know they went into administration (gives you a clue) but have just slightly changed the Company name to add a room essex instead of uk and are trading as before !!!!!

From the first day I met Alan when he came to measure up for a quote to build an extension, I knew I was dealing with a firm I could trust. Of all the builders who quoted Add A Room Ltd stood out as the best and produced a very detailed quote. Everybody there are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and all my questions and concerns were answered quickly and professionally however trivial they were. Best of all they work hard as a team and because they all know each other there is no problem in handing over from one trade to the next. Our extension turned out better than I dreamed it would and the whole experience has been extremely positive.
