Marcin and his team built a new internal wall, pocket door and storage cupboard for us in our flat in Marylebone. No issues and high quality work. We first contacted KLUK Construction almost two years ago when we started thinking seriously about what we could do with our house. We had several meetings at home with Marcin, who talked us through the potential of the property but was also very open about the limitations and possible drawbacks of different options. Because of a very busy period at work, we didn't progress much for a few months, but eventually decided to go ahead with the planning and structural package through KLUK. We went through several revisions as we wanted to get as much as possible from the house. Marcin suggested submitting the maximum option first, giving us something to negotiate down from if necessary. After some back and forth through planning, we actually received permission for a larger build than we had originally anticipated. Once planning was approved, we obtained additional quotations to compare the construction costs. KLUK wasn't the cheapest option, but this had been communicated to us from the beginning. Their approach was more about providing a complete, tailored service and achieving the right result rather than simply finding the quickest or cheapest way to build. It was a big decision for us. We have friends who ended up with seemingly endless building projects and disputes with builders over costs and details, so after a lot of consideration we decided we wanted to stay on the safer side and trusted Marcin and his team with the project. We also saw a big benefit in choosing a genuinely local company. Knowing that Marcin was based only around 10 minutes away from us gave us an additional sense of confidence and peace of mind when committing to such a substantial project. Before starting, we were encouraged to make as many decisions as possible and include everything we wanted within the original scope. The advice was that continually adding work during construction would inevitably extend the programme and increase costs compared with planning it properly from day one. Looking back, we are very glad we spent the time preparing because the construction itself went smoothly. Our project involved a full refurbishment, a large rear extension and a loft conversion. The house is more than 120 years old, so there was a considerable amount of work required to bring it back into good condition while also introducing modern insulation and upgrading it for the way we wanted to live. We did make some changes during construction, which extended the project slightly, but we were kept informed about progress and what was happening with the scope of works. One of the biggest benefits for us was how much KLUK could handle as one team. They helped us source and develop designs for the kitchen and bathrooms and arranged the fittings and many of the details required to complete the house. Both of us were extremely busy with work at the time, so having one team that understood the whole project and could help us make practical decisions about how the spaces would actually be used made a huge difference. We deliberately waited a few months after completion before leaving this review. We wanted to see how we felt about everything once the excitement had settled and the building dust was long gone. Interestingly, our opinion has actually improved with time. We keep discovering small details and practical decisions around the house that we probably wouldn't have noticed during construction. Some of these were things Marcin had previously mentioned as potential advantages or disadvantages, and now that we live in the house every day, we understand why certain things were done the way they were. For us, the project has been a big success. We are extremely happy with the result and genuinely enjoy our house every day.
