1st Defence Locksmiths Leeds

I’d locked myself out of the house and Ben was there with 30 minutes of contacting him. He was really friendly and professional despite it not being the easiest job to get me back in my house and doing it in the pouring rain too. Really appreciated him using his full breath of skills to be able to get me back in as well. If you lock yourself out of the house, I’d 100% recommend him hands down

Great service. Very prompt action and helpful throughout. Recommended.

On time and polite. Fixed our broken lock quickly. Would use again. Happy with service

Great service. Gave me a price beforehand, told me what they were going to do, and did it quickly and efficiently.

Excellent service from Ben (1st Defence Locksmith) today. We had a broken lock barrel where the key and door were completely stuck shut. Ben arrived on time, quickly sorted the issue and replaced it with a good quality Yale lock at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend Ben if you need a quality locksmith.

Friendly, fast & efficient. Full explanations and advise given. Good Job

I’ve used 1st Defence Locksmiths twice, and both times they’ve been great to deal with. Very polite, prompt and did a professional job. If you require a Locksmith look no further.

Great work, many thanks for coming to visit within 24 hours and replace my broken lock.

I spoke to Ben before 9am today and I had one of of his colleagues out before 1pm to fix locks. Fantastic service and the guy that did the work was really nice. I would definitely recommend!

Absolutely excellent. Great comms from Ben, quick, efficient and deserving of the many, many five star reviews. Sent before and after videos also. Great knowledge and was able to give insights to the issues.

Thank you Ben for the new lock on my security grille at a great price Ben was knowledgeable, polite and respectful of property Would definitely use this firm again and highly recommend anyone needing an honest and reliable locksmith

Really pleased with the service from Ben. He was helpful, professional, and fixed the issue quickly.

Would definitely recommend Ben! Came round to change my locks and was really good at explaining how the door was working, gave fair recommendations to make sure the door was as safe as it can be, and did a great job.

Mark came round today to change the locks to the new more secure ones. Amazing service from start to finish. He checked our door alignment too, he was so knowledgable and friendly. The locks are night and day different now and the door is so smooth in opening and closing. Have a look at their TikTok page for more info on the locks that’s where I found them. Great communication and we are able to get booked in within a couple of days! Highly recommend 1st defence to anyone in and around Leeds-you will not be disappointed!

Fast and professional

Ben from 1st Defence attended my house today, he was polite and personable and very professional removing his shoes on the way in. I came to the area where my damaged door was , literally looked at it for about 4 mins and told me what was wrong how he'd fix it and also what points needed fixing. We removed the integral blinds and the work was carried out quickly and efficiently. We both work and have a very excitable dog but despite all that going on around him he was able to continue. I would not hesitate to use him again

Super-quick reponse to callout request. Problem explained and fixed ... advice and info re door and handle going forwards was welcome as I asked the questions. No pressure sales.

Great service! Everything explained very well. Came across as very honest and trustworthy as demonstrated by him saying I didn't need the more expensive items. Locks working fine now, definitely recommend.

Great level of service, we had lost the keys to our front door years ago. Within 24 hours had been replaced and the door is now working. We have used 1st Defence Locksmiths before, about 4 years ago, and are very reliable and are efficient. Brilliant thank you

Ben was brilliant we had reported the issue with our outside door to where our bins are kept on Tuesday and he managed to squeeze us an appointment on the Thursday, he was very polite quick and efficient at what he was doing without him we wouldn’t of had the use of our bins so thank you!

Glad I found 1st Defence Locksmiths Ltd. Ben was brilliant from the moment I made contact with him for this job. I needed replacing locks on my doors which are of different types. Ben provided the quote and It was competitive and included everything. It was a complicated job but Ben kept me informed on each and every step. He did a wonderful job and left the place clean and tidy. Will definitely recommend to my friends and family.

Highly recommend! Ben was really helpful for installing a new lock on front door, additionally explaining the slightly misaligned strike plate and shifting it at no extra cost. Friendly and efficient

Highly recommended! Excellent service! Ben was very helpful and professional. Fixed the issues quickly and the result is brilliant.

Absolutely loved Ben! Arrived bang on time to check the lock, handle and sliding frame on my UPVC Patio door. He explained everything very clearly, showed me where the problems were and gave me choices on what to fix and what will last a bit longer. I cannot tell you how happy I was to find him after I had contacted 2 other companies, who turned out to be a scam! Price was clearly explained too, no hidden surprises, and not too expensive. I will always use and recommend 1st Defence.

Cannot recommend Ben enough, he is very friendly, worked very efficiently and the quality of his work is great. I would recommend him to everyone.

Quick, polite, honest. Great service. Thanks!

Ben was super speedy, polite and helpful! Cheers!

Excellent service. I spoke to Ben this morning. One of his colleagues (Mark) came out this afternoon. New front door lock fitted and he corrected part of the frame which we didn't even know was missing. I'd highly recommend. We'll be getting them back to sort out a similar job on the back door which another company did a completely bodge up job on. Feeling very reassured now. Updated: Mark came back at very short notice and sorted out the remaining jobs. Very professional, excellent service and great price. Highly recommend this company.

I spoke with Ben late afternoon who arranged mark to attend my property the next day. Mark was on time, very professional and knowledgeable and fixed the issue in short time ensuring any mess was cleaned up. Good customer experience

Highly recommend. Came out in 20mins, invoiced as quoted, friendly and excellent customer service. Thank you!

Quick and friendly service with no hidden fees. Thank you!

Brilliant service from start to finish. My tenant had lost the key to the balcony door, and I called expecting a long wait, but he turned up almost straight away. Really professional, sorted it quickly and kept everything hassle free. Couldn't be happier with the job. Highly recommended!

Ben did an excellent job for me on replacing the lock on my security gate! Arrived within the hour & was polite & respectful of my property. The pics are the before & after and I feel so much more secure now that this has been fixed. He also did a few adjustment on my kitchen door so that it fully closes Would def recommend! HD. LS4

Addressed my problem quickly with no hassle. Very good service, fair enough price

Ben was excellent, coming to repair our CCTV quickly and efficiently, and didn't even charge for the whole time he was there. Many thanks

We called Ben as our front door handle had become jammed, he managed to squeeze us in the same day and fix our issue no bother despite it being quite intricate. Overall we received a top service at a fair price and we would highly recommend Ben to anyone 👍

Just wanted to to say thank you to this wonderful company who managed to open the back door of our house and replace the mechanism but saved the lock . You came out in a timely manner and charged extremely fair price. I can say in all honesty I would 100% trust and recommend this company and will call them out again should I require their services

Great service. Arrived when he said he would. Took great care to fit the lock. Left everything clean and tidy

Perfect communication, turned up on time and really quick and thorough service. I'm really happy with my newly secured doors! (Based in Leeds LS7)

Was recommend to Ben, I phoned him at 4.20pm and they turned up just after 5pm. They’d just finished a job so they came after that. They were really friendly. Fixed the lock. Really pleased with the service and price. I live in Leeds 16. I would recommend them and use them again.

Excellent communication, price and service. Highly recommended

Great service, knew exactly what was needed and really prompt. Would definitely recommend!

Ben came out the same day I enquired to fix our patio door. It had suddenly broken, not locking and the handle overturning. We couldn't even close the door so had to have it shut with a broom holding it closed! Ben came out with plenty of equipment to suit the replacement parts needed, found the issue was within the gearbox of the door, and changed it all in little over an hour. He made sure to clean up after himself, explain the issue and what he was doing to correct it, and fully aligned the door for us to ensure the longevity of his work/the door. I am very happy it is sorted so quickly. Thank you Ben 😊

Ben came to my aid within half an hour and did a great job. Truly grateful for his service and would recommend to others.

I called Ben at 1st Defence Locksmiths to fix my Patio Door lock which had jammed. He came within the hour & repaired it rather than replace it which would have cost up to £80 extra. He also adjusted the doors which had dropped causing draughts because they wouldn't close tightly. BEN spent nearly 1 hour and only charged me £95 !! I would highly recommend 1st defence Locksmiths as your 1st call

Came at short notice even though not an emergency, new latch fitted within 20 mins. Very efficient- glad he was in my local postcode LS12.

Fab service Was recommended Ben from a Facebook post. Called Ben who was able to come out within the hour and was able to fix the door explaining what had happened. Great price and quickly sorted

I have nothing but praise for Ben at 1st defence Locksmiths Leeds. When I initially enquired via messenger, I received a prompt response within 10 minutes, with a quote breakdown of parts and labour. Ben was here the following morning as agreed and did a great job in replacing my garage door handle / lock. He explained what was causing the current lock to jam and explained how it all worked. He was polite, professional and efficient, job complete within the hour. I was also happy that the price was exactly what I was initially quoted, no extra hidden fees which I have found with other companies in the past. It’s great to have a local tradesperson nearby if ever needed again, especially an honest and hardworking one. Thanks again for a great job Ben.

Great experience with this company. Upfront about likely issue and cost to fix. Came out to me very quickly and resolved my door issue with an hour

Ben came out to my uncle's house pretty last minute as he had lost all the keys to his door. He managed to get the old lock out and replace it with a thumb turn version as my uncle is disabled and needed an easier way to lock the door. He also readjusted all the door mechanism so the door was a lot easier to lock (it must have sagged over the years) 100% would recommend Ben to anyone work don't on the 19th of March 2026.

1st Defence Locksmiths changed the door knobs, escutcheons and hinges and fitted a mortice lock to our door. There was quite a lot of work involved, but Mark didn't waste any time. There was an issue in that we had bought a handle with a different internal dimension (we supplied them with the hardware except the lock itself as we had a certain colour we wanted) but Mark disappeared to his van and figured it out with a custom design. He left no mess either as he hoovered up any wood shavings. He also arrived within the time window we had arranged. All in all, I would recommend others to consider 1st Defence, we're very pleased. Thanks, Andrew

Ben came to save the day late on a Friday evening. He even moved around his personal diary so he could help us. He did a fantastic job and was super friendly! Thanks so so much.

Contacted Ben at 1st Defence Locksmiths Leeds on behalf of my Nana who had a problem with the lock on her UPVC door. Ben was out within a couple of hours and sorted the issue. Top class service from a local business. Would highly recommend.

Called Ben earlier today, he managed to squeeze me in, which was great as we couldn’t lock our front door. Excellent service, explained what the problem was and how he would fix it. A job well done 👍

Brilliant service. Arrived really quickly, I was happy with the price and given loads of information. Great work

Amazing! Single mummy and alone with a door that wouldn’t lock, The gentleman that arrived was super fast and did a perfect job! Would highly recommend! 5*

Really pleased with the service received from Ben and Mark. I needed a lock replacing as it has broken, I called Ben and he organised for it to be replaced very quickly. Mark carried out the replacement and I’m very happy with the service, standard of work and advice given. Would happily recommend this company to anyone and will be sure to return in the future if I need any assistance. Thank you!

I range Ben this morning and by this afternoon the locking mechanism has been replaced! Very fast, excellent response and easy to deal with. Very happy customer!

Ben was fantastic. He called me back 20 minutes after me leaving a voicemail and was with me after another 30 minutes or so. He explained the problem, talked me through the options and had my locks fixed quickly, efficiently and at a great price. Next time I need any locks looking at, I'll be sure to call Ben before anyone else. First class service.

Ben fitted locks to all our doors and garage of our new house. As the previous owners had lost the garage key, Ben skillfully picked the lock and also changed a lock in a patio door where the retaining screw was hidden. He was knowledgeable and explained all the tasks he needed to do well, and the added bonus of having all doors keyed alike is very convenient for us. Would recommend Ben and 1st Defence Locksmiths highly.

The team were really professional and helpful. They came out very quickly when we had an emergency with our door. Very helpful and a great job! Thanks

Excellent service, couldn’t ask for more

Highly recommend, was polite and punctual. Explained exactly what needed doing and had the job covered in no time at all to a high quality. We are really pleased to finally be able to use the front door again!

Friendly, efficient and well priced. A job well done, thanks.

Great communication with Ben and then great chat with Mark on the day, quick and easy service all round! Would thoroughly recommend.

Called due to a failed door. Responded really quickly and explained the issue and the potential fixes. Fantastic value for money, thank you!

Would absolutely recommend. Reasonably priced, professional & friendly and went above and beyond to resolve an existing issue with door mechanism.

Highly recommended. If you're looking for someone who actually understands the mechanics of high-end security rather than just a quick fix, Ben is the one to call. Rare to find this level of competence these days.

Great quick service. We’ve just moved house and wanted to change the locks on all of the doors. Ben and his team were very knowledgeable and talked us through the options and gave clear costs. The install for all doors was very neat and tidy. Would highly recommend.

Top notch, highly recommended

Top quality friendly service from Ben. Highly recommend!

Rang Ben to see if he could look at job on the same day, he managed to squeeze the job in and he was good at explaining the issue and making sure I was happy with the works before proceeding. Even sent me a video of the job done and working after he finished. 👍🏽

Fantastic and quick service recived same day. Arranged early afternoon slot and arrived on time. Had all tools needed and explained how to maintain our looks to a very heavy bi-folding door which sags over time and wouldnt unlock. Price clear and upfront before any commitment was made and the guy (sorry forgot his name) was very respectfull of our home. Will definatly be saving companys details and use again if needed.

Dan is reliable, very reasonably priced and most importantly, knows what he is doing ! I first used him to replace a locking mechanism on a door and subsequently asked him to service, realign and repair my uPVC double glazed windows I found that he is willing to look for the best solution for his customer's budget, not upselling new parts that are not necessarily required and did the work in a neat and timely manner I would not hesitate to recommend him

Great communication and great service to repair broken door/lock. I'd definitely recommend

I had Ben from 1st Defence Locksmiths come to my home to change locks, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Ben arrived right on time, was extremely professional, and clearly knowledgeable about his work. He explained on a previous occasion my options, helped me choose the best solution for my home, and completed the job efficiently and to a very high standard. What stood out most was his friendliness and attention to detail, he made sure everything was working perfectly before he left and gave me a summary of what he had done and why. It’s rare to find such reliable and trustworthy service these days, and I’m genuinely impressed. I highly recommend 1st Defence Locksmiths, and especially Ben, for anyone needing fast, honest, and top-quality locksmith services.

Ben was fantastic - honest, helpful and efficient. He knew exactly what the problem was just by looking at the door. He explained everything before carrying out the work and was quick and efficient in doing so. I would absolutely recommend Ben to anyone needing work done and I won't look anywhere else if I need anything in future.

Excellent service very helpful at short notice! Would greatly recommend. Thank you again

Mark came on same day and explained options well. Great quality lock fitted with brilliant guarantee. As labour was fixed per hour also sorted latch mechanism glitches on the door which was fire door front door and my French doors and only additional cost was parts.

Excellent service. Delivered what was needed and more. Very knowledgable. Thank you.

Had the locks changed for my new house, he did a great job, very quick and knowledgeable.

Called 1st Defence as we had a 20+ year old lock starting to fail. Spoke with Ben who was really friendly, no pressure and gave an approximate quote based on what details I gave him. Got booked for a slot the day after which was great as the rest of the week would have been a struggle. Lock has been replaced, was swapped out pretty quickly and the chap that came to replace it not only cleaned up after himself but also had me test the keys in the new lock before he left so we were both happy that everything was okay before he left, bonus as came in about £15 cheaper than discussed. Definitely recommend, no hard sell, works around you and has done a great job.

Ben arranged for one of his colleagues to come to our house promtly as we had a stuck door. Did a good job, sorted the door lock and frame and we can now finally get out of the house as normal.

Called Ben on Saturday and gave description of problem with door lock, which he diagnosed almost immediately & offered 2 options for replacement on either a like for like basis or upgrade to a superior one. Explained different option pros & cons and prices. Did not have to decide there & then so made appointment to visit on Tuesday with a convenient timeframe to arrive, which he duly did. Set about getting the old lock out / door open and gave details of what he would be doing as he went along. Chose the upgrade option and was given a detailed explanation of the item & it’s capabilities and the job was completed in no time and we were up & running again with a fully functional opening & closing, locking & unlocking back door. Ben is a credit to the industry, workmanship & attitude totally first class!

So helpful, came out the same day and has done a brilliant job of replacing the lock - and made the door shut much better too! Thank you so much, definitely recommend 😊

Using 1st Defence was brilliant. I called Friday and booked for Monday afternoon. Come Monday morning I was no longer available and Ben was able to rebook the appointment to my convenience. Throughout my dealings with the company, whether it was rescheduling my appointment or deciding which lock to replace on my door, I got the impression that the business was very customer centric in their approach and, though hopefully I won't have to call them again, I now know who I am going to call. He was also extremely knowledgeable and was able to advise me on which locks to use, and even went as far as to fix other issues with my doors while he was here. 10/10, I would recommend this service to anyone.

Mark was very professional and came a bit earlier than planned. He was very quick with the lock changing, and was very helpful in ensuring I knew of any particular knacks with our doors.

Great service and fast. I rang and they managed to fit me in the same day. Repaired the locking system and explained what they were doing and the price. Would recommend.

I contacted Ben following an issue with our front door lock. He got back in touch really quickly and was able to give an idea of the costs over the phone. He arranged for Mark to come out the following week (it wasn’t an urgent situation) who was equally as efficient and professional. The price was fair and we’re really pleased with the work.

I needed window locks for 2 upstairs windows, I called 1st Defence, and we were able to diagnose most of the issue on the phone. A photo later and a quote had been given, parts had been ordered, and a date booked in. Ben was friendly, professional and delivered quality service a day early, including taking the time to resolve some of the issues with my windows. Would highly recommend, it was almost too easy!

What a great experience in an otherwise uncertain time. Ben was professional, extremely knowledgeable, honest and took the time to explain my options and what he was doing once I'd decided. He was able to fit my job in within an hour of me calling, and had all the parts and tools he needed to do an excellent job. Very reassuring, able to explain what is likely his passion to me, a novice, without any condescension - would definitely recommend 1st Defence. Lovely bloke and great job.

Ben arrived at the agreed time at short notice. He changed a window handle that had just snapped off but also repaired several internal door handles that were wobbly and temperamental. He worked really hard to fix the awkward issues with the handles and stayed late to make sure he completed the job that night. Also followed all covid guidelines. Would highly recommend and will be using in future to fix the other door handles that now seem wobbly in comparison!

Emergency call for a broken front door lock. Came within hours, gave a quote before attending. Repair was done quickly, and explained what was broken and what needed replacing. This is the easiest 5* rating I have given, would highly recommend.

Ben from 1st Defence did a great job. He was really knowledgable about the lock he installed, gave us a brief overview of the background to anti snap locks and why our current lock is no longer most suitable. Very courteous, personable and professional. Would definitely recommend.

On time and a nice guy. Gave us different options in terms of price and was very knowledgeable when explaining the products. Would deffinatley recommend!

I’ve used 1st defence twice. Both times the service and product have been first class. Three years ago the police knocked on the door and said our lock was vulnerable, we found 1st defence at random - high quality lock fitted next day. Reasonable price and still working perfectly 3 years later. A few days ago I called wanting to upgrade the back door lock and 1st defence were here the next day, very courteous, respectful of both our space and the current situation. I can’t recommend 1st defence highly enough. Thank you for a brilliant service.

Ask for quote and here the following morning. On time, good quality workmanship and quick - highly recommend.

Ben was extremely quick to respond. Explained the exact problem and how he was going to fix it. Clear on materials and price from the outset. Highly recommend.

Spot on service from Ben. I explained my problem and he advised and quoted me straight away. Arrived on time and had the job done in less than 30 mins (I'd lost my key and needed lock picking and replacing). A different company told me it would be an all day job and couldn't give me an exact price as a result - only for them to cancel on me at the last minute! Best thing that could have happened really, reckon I dodged a bullet... Ultimately, I'd say you won't go wrong with Ben, he's a well mannered, reasonably priced, quick and professional guy - 100% recommendation! Cheers again Ben!

Superb service, wish I had gone to 1st Defence locksmiths in the first place. They arrived promptly on time, fixed the lock and the door quickly and very professional service throughout. Highly recommended, go to these guys and not the plethora of cowboys with overpriced poor services out there !

I cannot recommend 1st Defence Locksmiths highly enough. We had a situation where we needed a replacement lock in a hurry and these guys did a great job in quick time. He also took the time to look at another lock we were having issues with and provided a minor fix at no extra cost. 1st Defence are friendly, professional, and provide great quality work. They've been saved in my phone and will be used again and again! Thanks Guys.

I cannot recommend them enough. Ben was polite and even rang and offered to turn up a day earlier than I had first asked due to another cancellation. Ben was very professional he quoted a price over the phone and stuck to it. He replaced my old lock on a Upvc door had to in pick the lock because the key was lost.
