I usually only give five star reviews but to this I take exception. Be warned- this landlady who " owns this place" (quoting her own words) is very rude and very aggressive.I have never been spoken to like this anywhere in my life! Avoid. Apparently she hates young people so actually I feel complimented in a funny way. This is the very worst public place I have been to. I believe this woman has some kind of condition so it’s important to be compassionate.
This evening my partner and I visited The Elm Tree in Swanwick Lane for a meal. I last ate there in the 1970 era. Tonight though, I was very pleasantly surprised. The waitress called Jade was exceptional in so much as she was able to converse with us when we are in truth what are really strangers. Other venues we have visited were just given a yes or I don’t know attitude. The lady at the bar was most helpful and friendly. It was a wonderful experience. When the food arrived on hot plates, we were astounded at the quantities of food. Neither of us ate everything and for me that is quite something. I have never before been beaten by a meal. Absolutely excelent and we will return. Ian and Teresa.
The pub was beautiful, man behind the bar was very nice. Unfortunately my wife and I went there for lunch to sit in their sunny garden for a treat. Two meals and two juices were over £30 and unfortunately it was the worst food I have paid for by far at that price. Low quality frozen food that I didn’t finish despite being very hungry, and even the chips were really unappetizing. We probably would have enjoyed having a just drink there, but so disappointed with the food. Maybe the tip off should have been, from all the customers inside the pub and outside in the garden, we were the only ones ordering food, despite it being lunchtime.

Enjoyed the fantastic steak night on Saturday. Steak and Chips with a bottle of wine £29.95 for 2. I added the pepper corn sauce and the wife added the blue cheese sauce both very very tasty.
Back again this time 12 of us ! Always good food here. Great service, friendly staff. Well maintained and clean establishment. We visit regularly as a group. We will be back.

We tried their steak night. Generally very good, very slightly under done chips. Given steak nights twice a week I'd have not relied on plastic packets of ketchup. Tuesday was a little quiet. Loved the fact it was not the 'quick food' process which appears to be the case theses days ie, virtually pestered for orders & fast out the door. The food came fast which may please many. The bottle of wine was very palatable. Definitely will go back again- a worthy visit!
I do like the Elm Tree, but only have occasion to go there for a pint due to the need for children's play equipment at family events. The ale is expertly kept and the small garden is a very pleasant area for to sink a few over an evening.

A group of 19 from my church became 15 for Sunday lunch but we were given massive trays of vegetables and roast meats and accompanying sauces;All was excellent value and the ambience was warm and friendly too
Perfect traditional free-house. Beautiful atmosphere with open fires and tasteful decor. Amazing range of drinks at the bar. Really thoughtful local beers and spirits I forgot existed! Quality pub food at prices its hard to argue with! A local gem

Fabulous place, I’ve been there twice now and every time it’s been so cosy, friendly very relaxed and has lovely staff - I be back when I’m next in the area.
Nearly cancelled my booking due to a couple of bad reviews I had read but had a recommendation from a friend so decided to still go and I am so pleased, the pub itself is lovely, log fire, decorated beautifully for Christmas, staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was brilliant. I will definitely be back!
Foul rude inhospitable landlady thinks she's starring in corrie but in actual fact is just an insufferable piece of work. Can put up as much xmas tat on the walls doesn't change the fact this woman needs hospitality training making this place a no return. Expensive as well.
We had been wanting to visit this pub for a while and my gosh what a let down! The landlady was abrupt and very rude. We weren’t even allowed to sit down first before buying a drink! Overpriced and awful service, felt very unwelcome and it almost felt as if it was an inconvenience for us to be there.

I never normally write reviews but do not go to this pub the landlady is so rude to the customers it’s amazing she is still in business. So we decided to go to the horse and jockey instead where the staff were so welcoming as was the atmosphere. We will never go back to the elm tree ever again
Popped in here on my own while travelling to my sister's house, as I was hungry and tired after a long day - very glad I did! Friendly and chatty staff indicated I'd made a good choice by going for the steak and stilton pie. They were not wrong - absolutely delicious served with new potatoes, a mountain of perfectly cooked veg and a vat of gravy. A lovely pint of local beer on draught as well, plus some entertaining locals at the bar who I ended up chatting with. A proper pub with proper food and ale - loved it!
We love "Steak Night", great value serving honest food and rather decent wine. We like to make it a nice routine whenever we visit the area.

Booked for Sunday lunch but got tempted by the seafood platter. Absolutely delicious, fresh, well presented and very good value. Others in my group had the roast and all agreed it was excellent. Good choice of meats and veg and apparently the cauliflower cheese was amazing. Faultless food, attentive service and a nice environment. Stumbled across the place by accident but will definitely be back.
Great traditional pub staff were great unfortunately let down by the landlady who is super rude even agressive and should not be in a customer facing position. Such a shame because it has such potential will return when there is new management
The meals we all had were excellent. The landlady was friendly, and was very helpful to one of our party who has health issues and can only eat small meals. I highly recommend The Elm Tree Swanwick
Wow what a find. Came down from London to collect my campervan and found this little gem for lunch. Had the Steak and Stilton Pie n chips. Absolutely delicious. Staff atmosphere etc all amazing. Plan on another trip just to pop in again.
A traditional pub that does good food, huge portions and value for money but the landlady can be very rude. A young couple came in with small children and came to the bar but before they had a chance to ask a question the landlady started quoting the law about children not allowed at the bar, absolutely no discretion or diplomacy. The next moment she was chastising one of her staff across the bar in front of all he customers, really? The woman needs a serious brush up on people skills and customer service !! Next time I'll be walking past my local and going up the road to the Village Inn.
A big thank you to Lorraine and co for all their hard work and support for my fantastic birthday party event! This is a lovely, cosy venue to enjoy great food and drink with friends and family. The buffet was superb and all my guests came away saying they'd had a wonderful time. My wife and I will be back for lunch in the near future!

After spending over £100 over the bar with some biker friends, we were asked to leave the pretty much empty pub as we were blocking the car park. Won't be coming back.

Visiting here after a two year break. We always try to visit as many pubs in the area as possible. This was the last one remaining in the area around Universal Marina. Decided on the Friday morning to try this pub for a dinner. Had a look at the website to get an idea. To my absolute surprise they had some food offers. Namely £25 for two meals (on Tuesday and Friday it’s steak and on Wednesday it’s pie.) AND a bottle of wine (red or white)! Somewhat curious we booked and arrived early (45 minute) and were greeted by a friendly barmaid who “checked” us in. They advertise the pub food as good and home made. No doubt there! I would go as far as to say honest, tasty and exceptional value! Served by Julie who was very friendly, polite and a credit to the pub. Also had the chance to meet the landlady, Lorraine, who is naturally very proud of her pub and today was doing the cooking. The pub has a great ambience with a lovely eclectic decor. Great garden with plenty of seating. As to the food it was tasty and generous. Sirloin steak (cooked to your liking) served with chips, garden peas, mushrooms and half a tomato! Bottle of Merlot (I think). Extras like blue cheese sauce, onion rings etc are available. Thoroughly recommend the place. Will be back and looking forward to the pie on another occasion.

Very good food… but spoilt by the apple pie! They were individual pies that had been put in the microwave. The pastry was all stodgy & I couldn’t eat it. Yucky!

Beautiful Inn, for mums 86th birthday. Staff helpful and friendly. Food is fantastic. Will return again we were entertained by 40 Morris dancers on their meal out.

Went on a Wednesday, which is pie night. The options are plentiful, with diets considered. Had steak and ale / chicken and leek with chips and pies - both were brilliant. Price is very reasonable and atmosphere / staff great. Looking forward to my next visit!
Have visited this business a few times. Our local. The landlady has obviously had a run in with people in their twenties, we went there as a family of four for the 1st time (parents and two sons). She allowed them to stay for that time only, however she wasn’t at all welcoming or kindly, the lady abruptly spoke to them in an inappropriate manner, pointing her finger in our son’s face. They avoid the place now, we certainly didn’t want to stick around, she ruined our enjoyment. We gave her the benefit of the doubt as parents, plus our men like the ‘Flower Pot Ales’🙌 We went before the Christmas period 2023, it was heaving, myself and sister along with husbands. We had a glass of red wine each, our first beverage of the night. Well, both glasses, Merlot & Malbec were past its date, awful taste of vinegar! The women behind the bar serving must have thought we wouldn’t notice the taste. Poor business ethics. Upsetting. This all boils down to the landlady and her management. They must have known the bottles were dodgy.

We revisited the Elm Tree after we were unimpressed with it about 5 years ago. The pub is attractive and the bar area is particularly snug, with a woodburner (open fire in the restaurant area). Decent selection of ales and the wine was "a lot better than most pubs". However, we were bemused by being told that they didn't serve food in one bar area (where dogs are allowed) but didn't allow dogs in the other bar area (where food was served). We would have eaten but we had the dog with us. Seems strange, and so I wouldn't really describe it as 'dog friendly'. Contrary to some reviews, we found the staff friendly.
We popped in for Saturday lunch after a walk and were so impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. The seafood medley was the kind of dish you’d find in a nice restaurant or on a tropical island. The leek and potato pie was absolutely delicious and came with a large portion of fries and side plate of 4 seasonal vegetables. The staff were very keen to check everything was ok and were very friendly. Definitely somewhere we will come back to, so refreshing to find a pub which isn’t part of a chain!

So pleased we stopped here, were just driving past and fancied lunch. Went inside and it's very cosy with nice fairy lights everywhere & lamps on, definitely my type of atmosphere, staff really welcoming, got a nice table, service was great, had 2 steak & Stilton pies,chips & veg, 2 pints of shandy, food was realy tasty, piping hot, plenty of choice as well, didn't have space for a desert which I was gutted about as had loads of my favourites. My parents visited this pub today and have asked me to help them write this review (they never write reviews). They feel on this occasion it is necessary. They ordered a Macaroni Cheese (which was lovely) and a chicken and pork roast dinner. My Father struggled to cut the meat, both chicken and pork as it was incredibly dry and hard. They raised this with the waitress (who was very polite) who said she’d bring something else. The next moment - a woman introduced herself to my parents (as the proprietor) and was incredibly rude. She suggested that the meat had to be cooked to a certain temperature due to health and safety and disregarded the fact that the meat was hard, dry and tough. She suggested that she should have given my Father a sharper knife. She continued to be rude when serving another meal to my Father saying sarcastically “I hope you enjoy this”. Her attitude completely ruined their lunch. My parents don’t deserve this horrible experience. They wouldn’t recommend this pub to anyone; definitely one to avoid! The waitress, however was lovely and very polite.

We were originally allowed in but due to age discrimination we were no longer allowed in would not as they are an "old pub" would. recommend village inn as they do not discrimination against people of legal drinking age i would rate them lower than one because they're stuck in there old ways .

We experienced our first "Steak Night" this week with our friends. The staff are brilliant, the Manager works constantly and the food is exceptional. What more can you ask for.

We didn't book but 5 of us arrived to eat at 1.30 and Although kitchen closed at 2pm staff were accomodating. All of our Food was excellent, freshly prepared/ cooked to order. Lovely presentation , generous portions & very tasty. Prices are very reasonable. The pub is cosy & traditional and toilets clean . Would highly recommend

The Elm Tree hosted a wake for our family today and it was perfect. We were so well looked after . The food was delicious and everyone commented how lovely it was. Thank you for helping us through a very difficult day. Xxx
Unfortunately the roast dinner was very disappointing. It came out literally 2 minutes after we sat down which made me think this is all just microwaved the heat back up. Two very large roast potatoes that were hard inside, the meat was awful, dry chicken breast and pork that was not from a joint of meat, it was grey and had a large amount of fat on each slice (which looked identical, telling me it was from a packet!) 1 medley of veg between 5 people so had to ask for more, however it was so hard the children struggled to chew it. Swede just diced and hard, I was expecting mashed swede. Cannot comment on the other dishes, the pub itself is pleasant and very homely with a fire, however, we will not be returning for food.
Just had a roast lunch. Could not fault it. The plates and food was lovely and hot. The service was excellent as well. Definitely recommend it. ps the flowerpots bitter lovely as well
Very disappointed, I was personally recommended to go here. We had the set 3 course Christmas menu where we chose our food at the time of booking and leaving a deposit. The starter which was a seafood platter came out on freezing cold plates. The salmon was hard and cold, even the lettuce felt icy. My friend had a Disaronno and coke which the glass was just over half full. I had Malibu and pineapple where I couldn’t even taste the Malibu. Next came the main course. The vegetables were served on a separate dish all four vegetables mixed into one and another. The potatoes were the size of a jacket potato, hard not cooked in the middle and the stuffing was burnt. We did not finish our main and did not wait around to see what our desert was like. When the staff took our plates away we told her that we was not happy with the food and she didn’t say a word. The set menu was £35 which I personally think was not worth the money.
Always amazing tasting and large portions. Having read some of the one-star reviews, I can only assume they're written by rivals or the mentally disturbed. The staff are always lovely and quite passionate about their menu. It is my go-to place for a good meal.

Felt the experience was mediocre. Landlady or manager freaked out about our dog walking into the pub and also made another customer uncomfortable about asking for food during the service period. Nice outside garden but loose the grumpy staff!
Could be the worst pub I’ve been to in a while, almost hilariously so. Being challenged as a 32 year old with my wife with “we don’t won’t any trouble here” a week walk in new the the area is up there with the rudest reception I’ve ever experienced. Gave it benefit of the doubt, so came back with my younger brother who is 27 to be told to leave as it’s a “old person pub only”. Food was terrible microwave lasagne made the week before, and beer nothing special. Suggest you spend elsewhere where you are welcome and it’s worth keeping the pubs lights on. Landlady needs to rethink her customer service
Excellent. Popped in for a spontaneous Saturday afternoon celebratory drink. Good selection of well kept cask ales. Nice garden with shady options. Attentive staff. We will be visiting more frequently as one of our number has moved nearby.

What a delightful surprise lay in store, when I popped in to The Elm Tree Inn. I have driven past a number of times and wondered wad it was like. The Landlady has obviously worked incredibly hard on the interior. It is stylish, inviting and cosy. We had a great conversation with her and her staff and are booked in for their Tues night Steak Night deal! Highly recommended!

Lovely, old style pub/restaurant offering a good selection of beers, lagers and ciders. Seems to be very popular with both locals and visitors. Friendly and welcoming staff who seem to know all the locals by name. Varied menu, and apparently a very popular Sunday roast... available from 12:00 to 18:00. Quite amazingly they have dedicated 4 or more parking spaces for the disabled. They also have a 25+ age limit, so worth checking out if you are booking a family meal. My only slight gripe is that there seems to be too many tables in the restaurant area, not sure if it is problematic in these uncertain times, when social distancing is still around. That said I would definitely go back. Recommended.
Nice pub with a good selection of drinks on tap. The place has a nice character and is nice and clean. Great beer garden but can be noisy as it's next to a busy road but that can't be helped.

The lady that owns this lovely pub couldn't do enough to help us. We had been on a long bike ride and finished off here and looking forward to some chunky cheesy chips, unfortunately the Kitchen had closed, she was lovely and went and made us some specially, she went above and beyond. I highly recommend this place specially for the cheesy chips, nice garden and plenty of outside seating, all staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming.

Normally a good pub but lack of control over a bunch of middle aged, hysterical women who were singing,, screeching, shouting and being downright selfish led to early exit for us and lost revenue for the pub, should have been seen to control the anti social situation!
I would like to say a huge thank you to Lorraine and her brilliant staff at the Elm Tree. They did a magnificent last minute wedding reception for my daughter and her fiancé on Saturday 19 th . Late arrangements because of Covid restrictions. The food was spot on catering for various dietary requirements. Everything you could possibly want was beautifully presented on individual platters ! Prawn cocktail , individual pies, quiche, cheeses, dips , chicken, skinny chips and more ! The pub, as always , was beautifully turned out, welcoming and friendly. The garden looked lovely . Katherine and Steve , the bride and groom, had thought their wedding was never going to happen, Lorraine to the rescue, plus all their wonderful friends and family made it a very, very happy , special occasion ! Thank you, thank you, thank you !

Was originally allowed in (ad 20-26 year olds) after we were asked to sit down in the garden by a member of staff, we were aggressively told by the the 'OWNER! Of the establishment that we were no longer welcome! Without a sense of human decency we were told to exit the premises no matter what!!!
The landlady has gone through every effort to make this place safe in times of Covid. The food is excellent served hot on hot plates. Service by her staff are all attentive and on the ball. A pleasant and welcoming experience. Thank you

Unfriendly welcome. 4 adults and 3 children (all under 5) told we couldn't sit together outside in an empty beer garden... Oh and the children must not leave their seats. Inane rules, not in line with national guidance and making no common sense will be the death of great pub. Keep your beer. The Village was much better welcome.

Great food, great service, great beer. It's always a pleasure to drop in to the Elm Tree. The food is amazing and the customer services is and experience to remember. You are always welcomed to this pub and never feel as though you are out of place like some pubs. The locals in here are all very friendly, if you want to drop in on your own, i can guarantee you will leave in the knowledge that you have crafted some new friendships. It a busy pub but there are some quiet spaces to come and work. its a really good all round pub no matter what the weather. Oh and the beer festivals are absolutely amazing and not to be missed.
Refurbishment is well executed, in keeping with traditional pub appeal. One flagstone floor bar for owners with dogs, other carpeted and dogfree. Very generous flavoursome portions of Sunday lunch (smaller portions and meat free available) with all the trimmings and lots of vegetables in variety. Pleasant staff attended to our needs in a timely manner. Landlady is a delight, passionate about her project, and keeps close eye on quality and customer experience. Will definitely eat there again.
Good beers and good hearty pub food as it should be. Simple, fresh courses that don't let you leave hungry. No frills, but lots of flavour and good ol' honest fare.

I do not understand the reviews the elm tree receives! The staff are either aggressive or 'attentive' to the point of being intrusive. The food is just genuinely awful, ill conceived and poorly cooked. I have been twice now, both by invitation of other parties and both times the food has surprised me in its inadequacy. I have purposefully chosen meals that I thought were foolproof and yet they have found a way. Dry, tasteless and bizarre are all words I could easily use to describe the burger meal i had. The food is cheap and plentiful so it is quite an achievement that I still feel like I received poor value on both occasions.

Lorraine and the staff at The Elm Tree Inn were amazing. Lorraine never stopped running about & nothing was too much trouble - had the most delicious Roast Chicken dinner and my partner had the Pork Roast it was good home cooked food. Then the chef made myself the Chocolate Cheesecake & my partner had the Summer Berry Crumble - mine was out of this world and his he loved although a bit to tart for his liking 🙄 As I was in my wheelchair it was nice to find disabled parking right outside the inn and an easy entrance and the table was easy to sit under. My only disappointment was not being able to access the toilets ( hence they lost a star) however it was 5 star service for the duration of our stay - and we would return as it really was that good 😁

Hey the problem with the elm tree is the price for a simple pint of beer or lager I payed like £6. For a pint of peroni absolutely scary as I work in London I’m not sure what the minimum wage is but I’m sure someone has to work an hour of their lives for one pint and that is so wrong Come on greedy people keep the cost down ! It’s an ok pub apart from the hideous prices !!!
Very disappointed ☹️ Our son treat is his dad to a Sunday lunch for Father’s Day, we chose the elm tree because we have eaten there before and have not been disappointed Lorraine and her team make you very welcome but sorry to say the Sunday lunch was a let down! The meat was tough and chewy,the roast potatoes , Yorkshire pudding and stuffing was frozen and there was not enough veg for us to Share between us! We will not eat there for a long time just because the thought of paying good money for frozen food!
We thoroughly enjye our meal. My wife had the Gluten Free fish cakes and I had Hunters chicken (gluten free). The service was excellent and the menu has a wide choice. We thoroughly recommend the Elm Tree.
This was our first visit to The Elm Tree Inn. Our party of 5 were celebrating an anniversary and birthday, and wanted a change from the usual 'chain restaurants' in nearby Whiteley. We visited on a Saturday evening, and the atmosphere was really good - bustling and busy but not loud and we could have a good chat over dinner. The food was excellent and really good value - starters and desserts are around £7-£8 each, and mains range from around £9 to £16 for the mixed grill (highly recommended!!). Be warned that the food portions are very generous, so if you have a smaller appetite I'd suggest skipping the starter! The staff were all friendly, and working very hard to keep tables clear and customers happy. I can highly recommend The Elm Tree Inn for a really good meal, and we will definitely be returning in the very near future.

Decided to pop round to the Elm tree 1 minute in car and SO glad we did. Greeted as soon as we approached the bar even though they were very busy with two large parties. Food was excellent with large portions. We both had beer battered cod with chips and peas Chips wrre fantastic cod suprrb snd peas tasted like fresh home. Will definitely go again and next time we have visitors will take them there rather than one of the big chains of restaurants.
A decent, honest, local pub harkening back to the old country style. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are very friendly. The pub supports local small brewers and you can always find something new and nice. The food is comforting and homemade with fairly large portions.

Found the meal disappointing after all the hype, 5 hours after the meal my partner was violently sick, the only thing he ate wad the lamb, also couldn't understand why a cordial was £3.20 for two after all it's only squash.
It is with great disappointment that I write this. We were aware the landlady runs a tight ship and have always respected that children are welcome in the restaurant and one of the bars. There is nothing to say children are not welcome. So a few years ago our son chose to have his birthday meal here and she couldn’t do enough for us, it was great and we have popped back with the children a couple of times and sat in the beer garden which is nice on a sunny day. Yesterday afternoon/evening we went for drinks with a few friends to celebrate a milestone. The kids (now well into their teens) said they would walk up and meet us. It wasn’t late. Only they were not made welcome despite me directing them to the bar that we were previously told, by the landlady that children could sit in. She was rude, dismissed our children, told them to leave (we saw none of this being in the other bar - and they were with an adult as well!) before approaching us and having a go! She doesn’t do ‘18-25’ and if they wanted a drink they were to go down the road to the pub that did. (My kids don’t like that pub!) Her behaviour towards us was unnecessary and uncalled for. She was very abusive and despite being confronted about her behaviour she continued to argue. Her language was coarse and she was eventually warned after getting physical , if she continued she would be arrested. Very stupid behaviour on her part! Despite her claims, this is not a family friendly pub. Not in the evenings anyway. Our children are well behaved, polite and sociable and this pub does attract a nice mix of people who we, as parents are comfortable our children being in the company of. However these clientele (selective it would seem) will not be around to prop up her bar forever and her attitude is alienating a generation who she will at some point in the future need to keeps her business afloat. This is not a free house and as much as I like the place it is let down by her inability to form good customer relations. Rude beyond belief!

Not impressed. Popped in with father in the hope of having some lunch just before Christmas. Arrived at 13 30 ish & told they were not serving food & subsequently made us feel as welcome as an unloved pet. This place is cold comfort farm & they'll only serve you if it suits them. No atmosphere and the staff are very dull & bored & everything is too much trouble. Will not be revisiting & cannot recommend.

We were recommended the Sunday lunch by a friend, very disappointed, the meat was so tough is was inedible, when we told staff they said they were sorry and that this happens sometimes?? We were charged full price. Definitely will not be going back which is a shame because it was a lovely pub.
Not the most exciting place for a Christmas meal. Starter consisted of the smallest shrimps I have ever seen and quite frugal. Main Christmas meal was ok except for the burnt Yorkshire pudding and overcooked Turkey serenaded with a continuous rendition of Christmas songs by Michael Bublé. Great if you stay at home and liked his style of singing but not very Christmassy for a works night out. A bit pricey as well.

Charming cottage/country pub interior, good food if you are lucky, but I think they must have got their clueless staff from animal rescue. Quiet garden with tables, chairs and parasols. Better than the average pub in the area and well worth risking a visit

Pretty pub with charming garden. The starter we ordered (sharing nachos) was scrumptious and well presented. We've heard iffy stories about the landlady at this establishment being less than civil to customers but we have had no first-hand experience of this and will return.
Rude landlady verbally told us repeatedly "doesn't like young people" until we left. Forcing us to leave seemed to be her intention despite us sitting quietly. Swore at us numerous times. Very offended.
Made to feel unwelcome. Was not informed when booking that you have to be over 25 to have an alcoholic drink. Would not have booked a celebratory family meal here if we had known. Very rude when asking for ID to then deny the drinks. Came across very accusing. Parents made to feel they’d be unable to control their 24yr old children after a glass of wine with dinner. Takes the shine off when your parents and in-laws toast with a glass of wine and all you have to hand is a pot of gravy and some tap water.

Went to Elm Tree before Christmas wasn't impressed with the food, it had obviously been prepared earlier and just reheated. Not good value for money. Will not be returning.
Quaint and cosy ye olde style pub with really friendly staff and locals. The food is great value for money. Great selection of beers and spirits with their own gin bar. Oh, and 70s soul on the jukebox. Popped in for a quick beer and left 3 hours later. Perfect !!

Popped in here for a Sunday lunch, great food massive portions and the staff where brilliant. Only one slight down side is they didn't have any high chairs for the little one but apart would definitely recommend.

I visited this pub with two friends for a quiet drink in the evening, nearer the end of the evening the landlady gave us an earfull about how she "doesn't like young people" and then verbally abused my friend with some foul language because he told her we wouldn't be coming back. My friends and I are all over 25 and were simply chatting and enjoying our drinks. However, there is an absolute gent of a barman.

We went in for a mid week evening meal and were made really welcome, as we have been in every visit. The food is home cooked, delicious & I would say well priced for the quality & portion sizes. The dog is welcome in the bar area and on some nights there are lots of dogs and happy owners. So, highly recommend this pub.
My partner and i have eaten out in hundreds of places over the years, the roast dinner in the Elm was not a good one, big portions but the veg was hard and the meat not hot, the manager didn't care he said thats how people like the veg, really well not everyone, my partners dinner (not a roast) and mine came out within 5 minutes, which rings bells if people are saying the roast dinner is good here then you need to try the Churchillian Portisdown Road or the Brigadier Gerard as you will taste good food, people who think it's great there get out and try other places where you will find far better food and better service, save your money and your time go elsewhere i should of refused to pay as we both left half our dinners, Pizza Hut would of been more enjoyable
We are always received by friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely setting inside and in the garden. Delicious food and good variety of drinks. We consider this pub as our local. All thanks to the dedicated staff.
