Oval are not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. They are reliable, communicate when delays happen, and have good attention to detail. I have used them for a local authority project and a small residential job, and would use them again. Recommended.

Everything from start to finish was great. Oval dealt with all the required paperwork especially dealing with our DNO. Kept us updated with the process via email. When agreeing to go ahead with the install a video was made showing where the battery and the gateway were to be positioned and agreed with us. On the actual install date the 2 fitters arrived on time and got straight to work no messing around and everything was put into position as agreed. All the wiring was put in place neatly and finished off correctly. Once the install was completed we were shown how the system works and linked to the Tesla app on our phones so we can see what is happening and if necessary amend any settings. A follow up email was made a few weeks later just checking that everything was in order which it was. Linked to our solar panel which had previously been installed it was great to see immediate savings on our electric bills. Great service overall from start to finish.

Second Battery and EV Charger Install As a returning customer I had an additional battery added to an existing solar system which Oval previously installed alongside an EV charger. These were both installed quickly and efficiently with excellent workmanship. I would highly recommend them. Their customer service was excellent and happy to accommodate my constant design changes until we had the perfect setup within my budget requirements. The workmenship was equally as good as their customer service with thought and care being put into the install. The staff were happy to walk me through and seek my thoughts about where the cabling and equipment was to be laid out. Following the install, I was invited to download the SolarEdge App and this was fully explained to me and any questions I had were answered. Moreover, a Handover Pack was given with all the information I needed about my Solar Panels, Battery storage and Backup supply. This was supplied with the MCS Certificate and DNO approval letter which you will need to hand to your electricity supplier for any export. Overall, I am extremely happy with service I received from Sam and his team and would happily use them again.

Oval renewables installed a 18 panel Perlight solar panel system with Sigenegy batteries, gateway and EV AC charger for me earlier this year. I chose Oval after seeing social media content of their installs having got the sense that they were a customer oriented company offering high quality installs who took pride in their work. I'm happy to say that the reality of the process, from initial engagement to post install care confirmed that initial impression was correct. I'd had a quote from Octopus (our energy supplier) which was cheaper in principle but that was sight unseen which made me cautious as there are quirks at our property that I knew could be problematic and require working around to get an install that both a) functioned properly and b) didn't result in messy external cable runs or disruption to recently decorated and finished interior rooms. Having initially price conditioned us with sample costs of system builds (a process I found very helpful - no point in pursuing for either party if that's more than we were comfortable with), Sam (the owner) came over and performed a survey, taking the time to understand what we wanted, the aforementioned quirks and making us aware of what options there were. This wasn't rushed, was informative for us and meant that I was confident any system design had taken into account our unique setup. From there, Alex (system designer) produced a system spec which we iterated, answering any questions I had and offering options I could choose to get the end result we wanted. From that point forward Jessica adeptly handled everything from booking the install date to post install care. We had a further obstacle we hadn't expected which was uncovered when the application to the electricity provider (Northern Powergrid) was made (all handled by Oval), which meant our property needed additional mains supply works to the house ahead of the install being completed. Clear and regular communication with Jessica meant that despite added delays completely outside of Oval's control the Oval team could get cracking with the install once the work had complete (Ian at Northern Powergrid also deserves a mention for being hugely helpful). The install team (led by Dean and Mike (East Renewables)) did a great job on what was not a straightforward installation. If you look on social media or You Tube for examples of their work - you'll see the quality of work they deliver. Oval are very transparent about the fact that they won't be the cheapest quote but from my experience of them, you do get what you pay for, a customer focused company who tailor systems to your needs / situation and who are looking to be around for the long term giving you confidence they'll be there to support you with any aftercare needed. It's an outfit with a quality team from initial enquiry management to design to install through to post install care. Sam even came and fixed a pair of broken / cracked ridge tiles (roof age related not from the install) whilst the scaffolding was up. From my experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I contacted Oval at the end of May and had a conversation with Alex within a few days. Jessica emailed me a few days later, to arrange a site survey, and I replied the following day. I didn't get a response, so I called them at the end June. I was told that Jessica had been on holiday, the previous week, and wasn't in that day (I called on a Monday) but they would pass on the message. That was the last contact I had with them.

Our journey with Oval began in June 2025 when we reached out for a survey. The whole survey process was really open and informative. Sam and his team were happy to answer (or find answers to) lots of questions. As this is a big investment it was reassuring that they would spend the time having a conversation with us about what we needed and tailoring the design to us and our house. We went back and forth a few times on the design and having long conversations about our needs and their product recommendations. We had our system installed in February 2026 after some DNO delays and structural survey delays. The installation process was smooth from the customer perspective and the installation team was nothing but respectful and a joy to have about the house. 3/4 months after the install and its still going strong and the couple of times we've had minor issues Oval were right there to resolve them. It may have cost us more money, but we got a system designed for our house and our family, rather than an off the shelf textbook install. We're very glad we chose Oval and would recommend them to anyone looking to invest in becoming more self sufficient.

I had my SolarEdge solar panels, battery and inverter installed by Oval Renewables in November 2024. The installation team were knowledgeable and efficient, and — importantly — they didn’t play loud music as seems to be the norm with tradesmen these days. They were always respectful and tidied up after themselves. The full installation and commissioning took about a working week. There were some initial challenges with the SolarEdge products, but Sam at Oval Renewables pursued SolarEdge relentlessly (while tolerating my constant emails) until everything was updated and fixed. Since then the system has run trouble‑free for over a year. Their after‑sales service has been exceptional, unlike some companies who clearly aren’t in it for the long haul. Oval Renewables are, without question, a five‑star company. At installation time, a sub‑main was run to my garage in anticipation of getting an EV in the future. I bought an EV in May this year, and once the SolarEdge One bi‑directional charger became available, mine was the first one they fitted on 10 May 2026. The physical installation onto the existing sub‑main was straightforward for Dean. Commissioning took a little longer, but after several calls to SolarEdge it now appears to be working exactly as it should. What gives me real confidence is knowing that if I have any queries or future challenges, Oval Renewables will take up the cudgel on my behalf — just as they have done from day one. It’s rare to find a company that stands by its customers so consistently, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

I thought that I would need a new inverter after noticing that my solar panels had generated no electricity in 3 months. I left a message on Oval website late on Tuesday night. They were in touch on Wednesday and 2 electricians arrived on Thursday morning. They diagnosed and fixed the fault and I didn’t need a new inverter. Delighted!

I did quite a lot of research before I chose Oval Renewables for our battery storage and solar installation. I am a Building Contractor in London and so was quite nervous making my choice because I knew very little about this relatively new industry. After meeting Sam Featherstone, the main man at Oval, it was obvious to me that he really knew his stuff. He is constantly attending seminars in order to keep his knowledge within his industry bang up to date. Oval did an excellent installation on our property. All of the staff at Oval Renewables were excellent, hard-working and reliable. My installation has been finished for some six months now, but I’m still able to contact Sam by WhatsApp and ask him questions to which he replies almost immediately no matter what the time of day or even what day it is. In June 2026 I actually got a payment from our electricity provider instead of having to pay them money! Oval Renewables are based in York but work all over the Country. Do not use anybody else. Do not be tempted by wonderfully designed websites with no actual people to back them up. This is the company you should use. If I could give them six stars I would. John North London.

Oval were fantastic throughout our solar install. We got 24 panels and a Sigenergy system installed. At the same time I got a new consumer unit installed as well as smoke alarms and some other electrical jobs to ensure I could maximise the use of the new system. They took the time to carefully plan where all the cables would be routed, and how to make the finish as neat as possible. Everything is either inside trunking, or out of sight in ceiling spaces etc. They even relocated some existing electrics to ensure the finish would be super neat and tidy. I’ve been extremely pleased with their attention to detail throughout and their helpful and friendly communication. They are extremely knowledgable about everything solar, they truly live and breathe it. I could not be happier with the result - I would recommend them to anyone.

Oval Renewables Ltd recently replaced the Consumer Unit in my home, and the result is outstanding. After several renewable installations over the years — Solar PV, battery storage, an EV charger, and an ASHP — my existing consumer unit had become cluttered and outdated. I wanted everything brought up to modern standards to properly protect the more sensitive equipment now running in the house. Oval Renewables were the obvious choice. I’ve used them before and have always been impressed by their knowledge of modern electrical systems and renewable technologies. That experience really shows in the quality of their work. The new Consumer Unit is neatly installed, clearly labelled, and far better organised than what I had before. The difference is clear in the before-and-after photos I’ve included. The engineer took the time to explain what was being upgraded and why, carried out all the necessary testing, and left everything tidy. It’s reassuring to know the system is now safer, cleaner, and fully aligned with current standards. Another excellent job from Oval Renewables — highly recommended.

After nearly two months our Oval Renewables solar and battery installation has worked and produced electricity far beyond our expectations. The quality of the installation and materials used is of an exceptionally high standard. The company, Oval Renewables, have a first class work ethic and their care and attention to detail is commendable. I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

I have an existing Solar PV system and heat pump, my house is totally electric and I wanted to have a large capacity Battery installation to take advantage of excess Solar PV electricity and a cheaper tariff so I could charge my battery and then make use of the cheaper energy during the day time. I was recommended by a close friend to ask Oval renewables for quote as my friend was delighted with his recent installation. I felt that I had a very positive response from Oval with a prompt quote and personal visit from Sam (owner) who clearly loves his job, very professional and enthusiastic. I felt my quote was competitively priced using top quality Sigenergy products. I elected to have a nominal 40KV battery, with a 7KW ac EV charger, back up power gateway in case of a grid outage, and fire alarm system, linking into my existing Solar PV system. The installation was carried out in three days by courteous, professional engineers, very approachable, and happy to explain what they were doing. They were very tidy removing all packaging and leaving my garage pristine. I would highly recommend Oval energy and consider them to be a highly trustworthy professional renewable energy installation company.

We spent some time considering our Solar installation. We wanted good quality equipment (it needs to last a long time), good technical design (we have a complex house layout with multiple potential sites for the panels), and an emphasis on aesthetics. We were recommended to consider Oval Renewables by a friend who had an installation by them some years ago. We looked at other installers. Oval was not the lowest quote. But following a visit by Sam (the company principle), we felt that he listened to what we wanted and came up with an innovative solution. We have a three-phase power supply, that has many advantages, but also some added complexity. They were the only company that suggested a two-inverter solution -one three phase and a supplementary single-phase inverter in a separate building. The siting of the panels (35 in total) was important. We wanted the appearance to be discreet, but also efficient. In the event the panels have been installed on four surfaces that give us good solar power right across daylight hours. The process from initial contact to execution was quite long -but it was worth it to get the right solution for us. The installation team was polite and efficient. The standard of workmanship was excellent (I am an engineer with high standards -so a tough judge). Very neat and professional. Once the installation was complete, the process to get the power export was complex and took several weeks (in the control of the energy suppliers). And to get the best tariff executed took some time and some difficulty. During this period Oval stayed in contact giving advice and liaising with the various parties. Once the supplier (Octopus) eventually took complete control of system, we have been able to appreciate how good the design is. Already at the beginning of March, despite the short days, we are producing more power than we consume on many days. As Summer comes along, we anticipate the advantage of Three-Phase with Octopus Intelligent Flux will provide a significant income that can offset the winter periods when this is not possible. So, in summary, we are very pleased with Oval Renewables and are happy to recommend them to others on the basis of our experiences to date

I needed my Zappi blinded from my home battery to prevent it draining, tried a few electricians none were interested or didn’t understand, Oval Renewables said no problem. Great communication, fast and efficient neat and tidy service, would definitely recommend.

I was the first customer in Scotland (I think) so it was just a case of scheduling the install when it was convenient for both - as usual, Sam was extremely flexible and professional with regard to all aspects and it's an absolute joy dealing with installers like him and the team at HQ. Hello Apologies for not sending sooner, I thought I had in June. The whole process with Sam and the team was completely stress free even though it was their first (I think) install in Scotland. System comprises of 23 panels front and back (pretty much south facing) and a Solar Edge hybrid inverter with circa 10kWh battery - we applied for 8kW export which SPN approved. Post install I handed system to grid via Octopus and during summer months was generating 1 megaWatt per month which will mean no actual bills to be paid to Octopus - I will be in surplus. Can't thank team Oval enough and if you want peace of mind that you are engaging with one of the best renewable install/service companies in the country, then look no further. Oval are just WOW. My SolarEdge inverter broke 9 years in. My installer didn’t do repairs or replacements. Solar Edge sent replacement under warranty and told me to check a weblink for authorised repairers. Very few companies repair most just install. Found Oval in York did repairs so tried them and received absolutely 1st class customer service. Communication was fantastic …David so helpful, went over and above to get my solar power back generating in the summer sunshine. Work done so quickly with little cost. A 5* company who is not just interested in the more profitable installs but does repairs too. I would not hesitate to use in future or recommend them. Thank you Oval Renewables you were brilliant.

Oval carried out a Full SolarEdge 8kwp system with 20x solar panels in 2022. Right from the off the process and discussions were fantastic to help us decide what we wanted and needed. The installation work was second to none, with an eye for details and with fantastic workmanship, almost 3 years on I am still over the moon with the installation. Absolutely fantastic company. Sam came and helped me out of a rough situation when another electrician left me in the lurch. He updated the electrics and helped me modernise a 1952 cottage,going out of his way working weekends and working around a noisy busy family. I had my system installed in 2022, it has performed flawlessly since then. Recently I wanted my EV charger wiring differently so that it wouldn't be a drain on the home battery. 3 years down the line from the installation I felt that they still knew who I was and they were only too happy to offer advice and then quote and do the work required. Sam and Josh came to do the work, both were very professional in their approach and workmanship. One week on from my installation being completed and I couldn't be happier with the service and attention I have experienced from Oval Renewables. At every stage of the way (quote, survey, installation, and after-service) the team have been attentive, helpful and courteous throughout. The installation itself is working flawlessly and was done to a very high standard. Nothing was rushed and at all times they concentrated on doing a neat and tidy job, cleaning up as they went about their work, and even taking any waste packaging, etc. away afterwards. Everyone I have dealt with has been friendly and professional, demonstrating impressive core values and integrity. Would I recommend Oval Renewables to anyone else - absolutely!

I approached Oval Renewables about the installation of solar, home battery and EV charger. Sam made an initial call to discuss options and Alex subsequently created a detailed proposal pack containing substantial information about why each component was chosen, the recommended specifications, and how everything would work together. The pack also included all the relevant datasheets and product literature. Following receipt of the proposal, Oval Renewables provided a walkthrough and gladly answered any questions. They recognise that it is a significant investment, so it must fully meet the requirements while remaining within budget. During this process, Sam visited to conduct the site survey and continued to address my questions, explaining the build process, including obtaining DNO approval, adhering to MCS regulations, and the recent PAS63100, which includes upgrading smoke alarms. For us, this was excellent timing as our current alarms were over 10 years old and required replacement. There was no straightforward head replacement available, so I had already begun exploring options. I was also looking to expand coverage, as three interlinked alarms were insufficient for a large house. Overall, the design process proved to be very efficient, instilling confidence that the build would proceed just as efficiently. Once the contract was signed, I was kept fully informed about the progress on the DNO application. As other projects had finished ahead of schedule, I was offered a slot a week earlier than initially planned, which I happily accepted. Dean and Josh arrived on Monday lunchtime and quickly set about preparations for work and made good progress on the EV charger and initial cabling as well as marking out the two roofs ready for the panels to be installed. Sam arrived on Tuesday along with Craig from Gifford’s Electrical, so the project made good progress. This was a large project involving panels on two roofs, a large MyEnergi Libbi battery, SolarEdge inverter and optimisers, fourteen 440W Perlight Delta Pro matt black panels with SolaSkirt and a significant amount of trenchwork, a garage consumer unit, an external consumer unit, seven smoke alarms and gateway, EICR and network cabling. As the weather was not good, the ground was solid, so it slowed the process down. To help with the trenchwork, Oval asked Mike from East Renewables to assist. Mike did an excellent job, allowing the project to proceed. The project took a few more days than planned. However, as it started a week earlier than initially planned, it was still completed ahead of the date expected. Once the system was complete, Dean talked me through each component and ensured that I managed to configure the MyEnergi and SolarEdge apps. A big thank you to the whole Oval Renewables team, including Jessica and David, for the administration work, Sam and Alex for a very good design capable of future expansion, Dean, Josh, Sam, Craig (Gifford Electricals) and Mike (East Renewables) for amazing on-site work during challenging weather conditions.

I think I was very lucky in finding such a professional reliable company. Out of all the companies out there they were the only ones that would come out to inspect and diagnose the problem. Its a credit to the company that have such a professional workforce. My system is now back up and running

We used a different company a couple of years ago to fit a solar battery to an existing Solar PV installation. When we needed to get an upgraded generation meter, we were completely ignored and fobbed off by the previous company. Found Oval Renewables and wished we'd used them originally. A local company who respond quickly and helpfully. In the space of a couple of weeks we had agreed a price for the job, and Sam and Jess had helpfully checked a couple of things in advance to make sure it went OK on the day. The guys doing the install were on time, polite, helpful and got the job done in good time with no fuss, as well as being very helpful to make sure we had all the info we needed. When the day comes to improve further our renewable installation and/or join the world of EV car charging, we'll be in touch again with Oval Renewables and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Oval Renewables were a pleasure to deal with. Very knowledgeable and efficient. They set up our battery system in the basement/under the pavement area and it has worked effectively. Their follow up advice and monitoring is helpful.

Sam and the team are very knowledgeable and professional when it comes to the renewable energy industry. We were looking at having a new EV charger installed along with a Tesla Powerwall 3 at our new house.In the end we had to have a Zappi installed at very short notice just before Christmas as the charrger we inherited just packed in. This wasn’t a problem to Sam, he carried out the installation for us and saved us a lot of trouble. The Powerwall 3 was installed this week with minimum disruption and is working perfectly alongside the Zappi and our existing solar panels. Oval may not be the cheapest, but they are local and having the piece of mind that they are available at the end of the phone should anything go wrong is a big factor. Highly recommend Sam and the team.

Oval Renewables replaced a failed inverter on an existing microgeneration setup for me. The job was done efficiently, and the price was competitive (as far as I could tell). Solar PV microgeneration is fairly reliable, but it does fail occasionally, so it's good to discover a contractor that can diagnose failures in systems that they themselves did not install. Sam gave a very clear explanation of the options I had. It turns out that not all solar arrays are wired identically, and not all configurations work with all inverters.

Oval provided excellent customer service throughout the lifecycle of my SolarEdge solar and battery project. I had a lot of questions prior to implementation. My queries were answered with clear explanations and recommendations as I talked through my expected use case(s) and modified the design accordingly. During implementation the crew onsite were polite, tidy and proud of their smart looking solution. They weren’t only interested in getting the solution working technically. They paid great attention to the detail of how they were doing it and agreed options with me throughout the whole process. My questions continued throughout installation as I was learning more each day during implementation. If I had queries or wanted to have the layout of equipment positioned in a slightly different manner for my own personal practical reasons, the crew were happy to discuss and alter/oblige where it was agreed logical to do so. I didn’t feel as though I was bothering them and discussions were always welcome to aid the learning process. My solution included the SolarEdge Home Backup Interface. A new faster switch over feature had recently been released by SolarEdge, but it wasn’t working as expected upon testing. Oval spoke onsite with a SolarEdge support engineer while I was present. A fix was provided and successfully tested there and then. In the weeks following the implementation I had further queries related to the SolarEdge App and possible bugs with visual aids/monitoring in the SolarEdge software. Oval have helped me understand how best to use the software interface available and raised tickets with SolarEdge for support of any software anomalies. I see customer service as the most important factor when embarking on a project like this because the technology and software for such solutions are continually evolving and the introduction of Smart Tariffs by energy suppliers are in their infancy. I wanted a partnership that would help me when things don’t always go right, even when issues are outside of Oval’s immediate control. The level of success and quickest return on investment depends on a best fit between your own use case scenarios, and how the technology can be controlled to maximise efficiencies with the energy supplier tariff you wish to use. Great pre-work online to understand our needs and design a system to suit (2 x inverters AC coupled battery to work with our Zappi EV charger). Sam called in a few weeks prior to the install for final checks to make sure the installation went smoothly. Equipment has been installed with attention to detail by workmen who take pride in their trade. Highly professional approach with some items other installers consider optional (scaffolding, bird protection) are all in as part of the job. Good support and follow-up to any questions as we get to know the system, but even in the dark North Pennine winter, the solar panels are already making energy and the battery is charging up overnight to keep us in cheap electricity through the day. NB: Called back in January to fit the MyEnergi Eddi solar diverter (due to lack of availability when solar/battery were installed). Integrated this with the Mitsubishi heat pump so they work together.

From first getting touch with Oval Renewables and through to the installation and completion of the PV system the communication from Oval Renewables has been excellent, with quick replies back to any emails I sent them When I first approached Oval Renewables for us to have a PV system it was easily explained, the questionnaire for me was easy to fill out I really appreciated the assistance at the start on providing the PV panel information to me, The installers that installed our system were both very friendly and easy to talk to, and arrived on time when they said they would. They respected my property and cleaned up after themselves, which can be very rare these days for work men. They even notified me of an existing roof tile that was previously damaged and they were able to replace it at the same time of carrying out the PV installation, saving me the hassle of having to contact a roofer to carry out this work. They took on board the request to install the equipment in a confined area to make sure it didn’t hamper the opening of my back garage door, its looks very good and a neat installation. The explanation on how the system works etc they did well too. From a customer point of view, Oval Renewables are an excellent company.
