Installation work was carried out to a high standard. What I have been impressed with the most is the time that Dean took to ensure that my charger was working effectively and fully integrated with my Octopus account and offering me help and advice as an end user. Dean and his team were very professional ensuring that the right product was installed for the intended use. The 2 guys who did the install did an excellent job, leaving the area clean and tidy. My new EV charger works perfectly with my solar installation and for the most part provides me with completely cost free charging of my EV.

Dean has worked with us on a number of jobs including upgrading our GiveEnergy battery storage system and ev charger. And, more recently, installing intelligent hardware so that we can use surplus solar energy to heat the water when the batteries are full. All his employees are polite and work well. This reflects Dean’s passion for giving his customers the right system. He always follows up the work and is ready to answer questions. Highly recommend.

My experience of Mad About Electrics is just that - they are really passionate about what they do. Not everything electrical goes without a hitch these days but all follow up has been excellent.

Brilliant job! Dean came over to advise us on the type of lighting we needed to adequately light our kitchen as well as listening to ideas for additional pendants. We had a plug and socket replaced and power to an out building disconnected. Great work from start to finish. Brilliant communication from Dean the owner, sorting out what the job was and what was required. The person doing the job was great, they turned up on time (despite it being rush hour), cracked on and got them done with no fuss, but explained why the previous sockets would have melted and reassured us that it would be safe to use our dryer on. Our project is a longer term one, which will require an almost total rewire of our property to achieve the functionality we desire. We did however have some initial electrical work to tend to, such as the installation of an EV charger, some outside lighting and sockets. Having recently moved to the property from outside the area, coupled with being an HV engineer by background, I wanted to find an electrical contractor that could meet with my high standards. Fortuitously our property had been rewired by MAD About Electrics in 2012 and the standard is extremely high. It wouldn't need rewiring if we weren't going for a full scale change internally, so I contacted Dean to price up our initial works. The works were not straightforward, however Dean's team delivered professionally and on time. They also pride themselves on their tidiness and everything was cleaned up before they left. We are moving into the first phase of our overhaul of the property now which will require considerable work by Dean and his team over the next 12-months and I am confident that their estimate and workmanship will meet with our approval. From a professional point of view I can't recommend them enough.

Good electricians, good communication and do what you ask.

I was recommended these folks by my Estate Agent and what a mistake that was. Firstly they charged over the odds for an EICR and then came back with an estimate of £2500 -£4500 to fix the problems they said they had found. One of which was they couldn't find one of the circuits on the RCB in the basement. Clearly didn't try very hard as that was actually the basement lights. The two items that they did fail the EICR on, cost lest than £10 in parts in and 2hours in time. Whilst I appreciate older houses require a little bit of extra attention, a nebulous quote of 2 guys for an unspecified amount of time is ridiculous. As it happened got the work done and the retest for under £300. And to be honest, for £4500 I would be wanting that to be close to a total rewire for a three bedroom house. Wouldn't use again and wouldn't recommend Just to update further, based on the business owner's response, I did try to discuss with them and got no where. To tell me that you literally couldn't find circuit 4 at all, which is labelled on the RCB as basement lights, and indeed is the basement lights, makes a joke of your assessment, as you failed to pass the most straightforward test. Cabling does deteriorate over time, but that's why checking on an EICR shows issues. To tell me - as you did at the time - that you couldn't tell me why it would take several days (as the quote was not for a full re-wire - that was never discussed) just that you would try and minimise the work but it could cost up to £4500 is simply taking the mick. (Excuse the pun). Everything stands, wouldn't use again and wouldn't recommend.

The electrician who was supposed to install my home solar electicity generating system ordered the system and then disappeared. Luckily I found Dean at MAE and with his team they installed the system and got it working despite being unfamiliar with the make and model. Where a lot of people would have given up, Dean worked to solve the problems and get it working well. Job very well done.

Called Dean out of hours and the following morning his team were on site tracing a fault to a cooker that was tripping the DB. Within a few hours the source of the fault was identified and a replacement integrated cooker was sourced and collected and fitted. A first class service. Having these guys at the end of a phone is amazing if you are a remote landlord.

The Mad About Electrics guys installed an electric vehicle charger for me a while ago, so when my usual electrician let me down I contacted them. They did some commercial work for me installing a 3 phase supply to a machine tool. They were very responsive, fitted me in quickly around the machine installation. Tidy job, fair rates, plus decent chaps as well. What's not to like? Will be using them again.

Mad About Electrics replaced all the lights in the York Railway Institute sports centre gym hall with new LEDs over 3 days in Sept/Oct 2022. They fitted in really well with unexpected bank holiday delays, and provided a complete and professional service, from assessing our needs and recommending Badminton England compliant lighting, arranging and erecting scaffolding and the necessary floor protection. Installation went seamlessly and was carried out in an orderly and tidy fashion. The chaps were well mannered and prompt, delivering an efficient and effective job. We are pleased to recommend them.

You have a question relating to electrics i hear you say !? Well in that case DONT waste your time asking this lot . They will only speak to you if you agree to a home visit ( presumably so they can shaft you for a call out fee ) . I made a visit to their office to ask a question which required a very straightforward YES or NO answer ( it really was that simple ) . They not so politely informed me that they were NOT an advice centre . Fortunately I happened to speak to an electrician who was on his way into REEDS electrical factors over the road and he was more than happy to discuss my issue and in the process landed himself some work . I have given this lot 1 star because had i not visited their offices I would not have found a decent electrician so i suppose every cloud has a silver lining . My advice to you all looking for a decent electrician is to avoid this company ... and my advice is completely FREE OF CHARGE . ** as a follow up to the owners response ... Yes they are correct i did need an electrician , had they been prepared to just answer a simple question they would have realised this and could have saved themselves an embarrassing review ! I cannot comment on their work as they did not do any , my 1 star review reflects the level of customer service they provided . As a business they are entitled to work for / speak to whomever they like but at the end of the day customers keep them in business so it works both ways . It would have been much better if the gentleman had stated that he was happy to answer my question followed by an inspection if required . I stand by my 1 star review based on my experience today , they dont need to justify themselves to me and frankly im not interested if they are fully booked till after christmas . reviews serve a purpose , yes there are plenty of fabricated reviews and bad ones at that but the fact the owner has confirmed my visit suggests that this review is justified . Again I am not reviewing their work , more their customer service .

We called these guys after an electrical nightmare occurred at our house involving mice and chewed wiring. The response was instant and within an hour one of their guys was out to our property. We were without power, and amazingly within a few short hours we were back online with minimal disruption. Fantastic friendly staff with excellent knowledge and experience.
