We had a new washing machine delivered this morning but it wouldn't work because of an electrical problem. We rang SJM and they said that they would send someone round around noon. He arrived on time and was polite, respectful and friendly. He sorted the problems out including one that could have been potentially been a fire hazard. We are in our eighties and can't thank him enough, would definitely recommend this company.

Where do I even begin! I requested a quote for full rewiring as well as well as additional sockets etc. Steve was adamant I do not need to have rewiring done and advised that others will accept my request as more money. As soon as the work commenced, Steve said that the rewiring is needed as otherwise, I would have a fire hazard. Mind you, I've had them visit the property twice before this and both times they reassured me that there's no need for rewiring. This also meant that I missed out on better quotes. Was hoping this would be the last of the issues, but we had endless issues after that. Communication issues caused so many delays for the renovations and they tried to put the blame on me for this despite me sending clear email communications detailing what I want and where I wanted them. Steve even denied receiving the emails when he previously replied to them. Still, that wasn't the end of it. I was told all the work was done, I went through the list with Steve on the phone and he said Pete (the lovely electrician who did all the work) was with him and confirmed everything was done. I made the payment accordingly, and that is on me as I should've checked in person. I later found out that many things were missing. When I tried to contact Steve, my call was dismissed and I never heard back from him again. I have been charged for things that were not done, missed out on better quotes and there are issues with what was done. Would not recommend to anyone

I had a tight deadline to install a 32amp supply for an induction hob. Both the initial survey and the work itself were performed on time, tidily, and the chaps were helpful and friendly. This is the second job that SJM has done for me and I've been very happy with the outcome on both occasions.

Excellent job by Josh, security cameras and extra kitchen lighting put in all whilst I was working from home. No mess, looks great and Josh was very helpful getting the camera system all up and running. Also had a another prompt and efficient fuse board check from Nadia.

SJM Electrical were referred to me by a friend. As I was moving out of my property I needed a brand new ventilation system installed and the electrical work testing. They were extremely flexible in their approach to accommodate me, my timelines and working pattern. Whenever I called up with questions the office team were on hand to help. SJM Electrical installed a new external EV Charger at my home address. Chris & Nadia had to install a new cable from our main electric meter under our Lounge floor to the front of our house. They took up the carpet, laid the cable under the floor and refitted the carpets. They were excellent! Great installation from start to finish. SJM have surpassed my expectations and are very knowledgeable in their field. Currently in the process of building a Porch and had instructed SJM to install lighting/ Ring camera and underfloor heating. I always thought to install underfloor heating this would need to be plumbed from our boiler and the floor would require lifting. That was not the case as SJM fitted a bespoke floor heating system that runs of the electrics!!! Who Knew!! SJM did! The lighting I had chosen was fitted exactly How I wanted and the result is phenomenal. They were punctual and very tidy, 5 🌟 service. If you are looking for an eletrical company look no further! SJM have been my 'go to' electrician in Worthing since moving here in 2008. On this occasion the job was small - to check out an upstairs light fitting that had tripped out due to water coming in from the roof - but it involved some rearrangement of dates which they accommodated with understanding. Always easy to work with, with full explanations of work needed, jobs fairly priced and done well.

For someone living a distance away, I was recommended this company to complete an EICR at my parents property. SJM did a great job installing my car charger in 2021 and up until the 16th of August everything has been fine. At this point my car charger lost communication with the server so I was unable to SMART charge. Alex came out promptly and diagnosed the problem. Spare parts were sent out and have been installed successfully today. Alex was excellent in his communications and I have no hesitation in recommending SJM for the installation and support of car chargers.

One of your electricians went to select on Teville place, he was parked on Oxford Road, when he was told he was parked the wrong way. He shrugged his shoulders and walked off, that was so professional of him

I have just bought a new house that I am completely remodeling. I contacted SJM to get them to quote all the electrical works... the price was very reasonable, contact was great and within a few days they have already been and set me up a temporary power supply so I can get started with the demolition. The guys that came were polite, professional and even though I told them to leave their mess, I still came back to a tidy house. I am looking forward to working with them on the rest of my project, and they have been great in advising me on a working schedule to ensure my project runs smoothly. Can't recommend enough.

Job was a simple upgrading of a consumer unit, plus connecting a doorbell. It was scheduled to take one day. However the two electrician's who attended suddenly left at 14:30, with the job hardly started: they had another job to go to, they said! A new visit had to be scheduled - this took time inevitably. This second visit went reasonably well. However, at the time the electrician left, the job had still not been completed: there was making good to be done. We also discovered that: 1) an existing enclosure (controlling the solar PVR) could no longer be opened, due to the positioning of the new box. 2) turning on the landing light caused a circuit breaker to trip A third visit had to be scheduled to address these problems. This took time, which was problematic considering we faced the hazard of having no landing light. The third visit was dreadful: we were addressed by the electrician in an accusatory manner, as though the state of affairs was our fault! As things stand, several weeks after this unpleasant experience, the PVR box remains obstructed and I have received no certificate from the firm! The company, having received payment, ignores my emails about the certificate. If in search, as I was, of a competent firm who will carry out work according to schedule, and subsequently provide certification, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

We used SJM as our electrical contractor for major electrical improvements and installation at a period property in The Square, Angmering to create The Stone Room, our exciting new Pizza and Pasta restaurant. What a first class job they did, thoroughly professional from quotation to installation. A family company with a most professional staff, attentive and understanding, customer friendly and very reliable. In short, first class in every way.

Installed new LED lighting onto our outdoor court. Communication beforehand was first class, work was completed ahead of time and on budget. Engineers were extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the works. The advice received from SJM now means that we will continue to save money on utilities through this installation. Thoroughly recommend.

I have used Steve’s team for various electrical works and would not use anyone else. They work to a very high standard and are extremely hardworking, respectful and tidy - a pleasure to work with every time. Thank you SJM for making my projects that much easier!

I asked SJM to instal a fuse box, change my motion-activated lighting systems to kinetic ones, replace white socket covers with matt black ones and rewire a two-gang switch. The work was scheduled to take two days and was booked months in advance. In the end it took FIVE visits to complete the work and resolve all the ensuing issues. 1) On day one I was told the matt black kinetic switches hadn't arrived so that part of the work would have to be delayed by a week. The electricians left after installing my new fuse box - and half the appliances in my kitchen failed to work afterwards. Someone had to come back round to switch them all back on again, and the fuse box was making a very loud humming noise. We celebrate the fact that the two-gang switches now both are on when down and off when up. 2) A week later SJM return to install the kinetic switches. I am asked if it's okay if they don't hoover or replace my loft hatch as their arms are already loaded with gear and I agree after they tell me that the second kinetic switch is broken so they'll have to get another one and this can take a week (leaving me with a bathroom in darkness). I wave them goodbye and start checking the work only to discover that some of the switches are on when pushed down, and others off when pushed down. 3) I send an email of complaint and don't hear anything but do get an invoice for most of the work bar £120 for the kinetic switch and the fact that I now have a piece of my en suite ceiling that needs to be patched up. I complain again and someone comes round to assess all my complaints and change the switches the right way round. 4) Two days later SJM are back to instal the kinetic switch, repair the ceiling (but it's up to me to repaint it!) and stop the consumer unit from humming. 5) I also had to query why I hadn't received an electrical safety certificate as this wasn't mentioned during any of the visits till I raised it. 6) To sum up, every single thing that could have gone wrong went wrong and I received no written apology or compensation, just the invoices. Use SJM at your peril as this has caused me untold stress and also left me doubting the professionalism of the company.

I booked an electrical check at short notice on my South West London rental property. The report came back unsatisfactory as it had an old consumer unit, as well as a couple of other issues. They took the time to talk me through the codes and my options, and after providing me with satisfactory quotes, they carried out the recommended works. We have now used SJM 3 times. We first used them to carry out a electrical survey of a property we were purchasing. When we moved in they carried out the work suggested in the report. Since then they have carried out a electrical refit for our kitchen extension. We have met 8 different members of the company and all of them have been extremely helpful, polite and professional. They have gone out of their way to ensure we have a complete and usable kitchen before Christmas. We could not have wished for a friendlier and more accommodating group of people they deserve more than 5 stars.

SJM Electrical Services were contracted by us to aid in the design, and complete the electrical installation within our new industrial unit in Sussex.The whole process from initial contact to completion was carried out in a professional manner with us being constantly updated throughout the whole process. The engineers were friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable. The installation was completed to a very high standard, and the unit left spotlessly tidy. On completion of the project the installation was handed over and a full and detailed handover pack was presented and explained to us. Further to that a follow up call a few weeks after completion to check all was fine, is testament to their determination to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained. We are delighted with the end result and couldn’t recommend SJM highly enough.

I don’t normally do reviews but I had to take the time to do this because I’m absolutely delighted with the work, service and care we had using SJM. Brilltwotk and tgey even brought their own hoover to clear up any mess! Not that there was much and none for us to clear up. When I think of all the trades people we’ve used over the years none of them came near. I would highly recommend them! Superb!

I have used SJM twice now. Both times they were prompt with timings, fixed the issues (with a good explanation of what the problem was), were clean, tidy and polite. I’ll definitely use them again.

Electrician sent was extremely work shy and spent more time on tea breaks then on the job. Rushed work at the end of day to get home on time after spending 2+ hours 'poping to local wholesalers' lied claiming he'd been 'called back to the office to discuss his salary' when questioned about it. Poor quailty work on simple electrical tasks. Socket casing filled rather than removing from wall before filling even though case protruded beyond wall surface. Inappropriate plasterboard fitting used in mottle and daub wall meaning entire fitting fell out when removing a socket a few weeks later. Information about missing earth wire not noted on electrical certificate as told it would be. Very unimpressed with this particular electrican has put me off using company as a whole.

SJM have recently installed light fittings at my home and have previously attended to a shower issue. They are punctual, polite and very competitive price wise. The electrician who came last week was very efficient and tidied up after completing the installations in four different rooms. He was very friendly and talked me through the work carried out. When the appointment was booked I received a text message confirming the arrangements and a contact number should I have had any queries or needed to change the time. I can not recommend SJM Electrical services high enough. From booking the appointment to coming to quote the price to the engineer coming to do the work was an exceptional customer experience. I have very old storage heaters which needed to be replaced along with 3 very old fuse boards. They were with me all day and didn't stop working all day, they were polite, friendly and cleaned everything away after themselves. They showed me how everything worked, what to do and didn't leave till all the electrics were tested. And took all the rubbish and storage heaters away with them. SJM completed a full rewrite of my home in 2016. This included a new fuse board, complete new kitchen and moody lighting throughout the house and outside.
