Long story, Winns were paid £80 to check the wiring to an extractor fan in my parents bathroom recently, they said it was a faulty fan…. This bathroom is brand new so naturally the bathroom fitters provided a new fan, which still didn’t work. Winns turned up today to investigate again & wanted to charge £90 this time, keeping in mind they have already had £80. So Brian Winn the owner of the company arguing with my dad over the phone to the point Brian hung up on my dad, he then pulled his guys off the job, while his staff on camera stating to “be-careful as the metal stud work is live”. So, in effect leaving the property in a dangerous condition in my opinion. My mum is recovering from a stem cell transplant following chemotherapy for cancer. They do not need the stress/ attitude of Winn’s. Beyond fuming with this company. I have for a number of years recommended Winns to people based in the positive posts I had seen on Facebook regarding them, but now based on first hand experience, that will definitely no longer be the case. Update 2026 after WINN Editing their response two years later, I do still have the video footage of their staff member leaving the property stating “be careful as the metal stud work in the walls is actually live” but as per thier response they aren’t interested, despite having been paid once to correct the issue. Thankfully a local electrician Short-circuit came out within hours to sort the problem safely. Upon seeing the footage, they too were astounded.

We had a few small jobs to get done. Richard came out to quote promptly, and the office coordinator and Bryan answered any queries. Richard undertook the work with his apprentice without any issues. Great service, prompt and polite staff, and competitive pricing. Overall, Winn's were great and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Thanks

Excellent company with very fair rates

I highly recommend WINN Electrical Services. I had a very tight time window to get an electrical fault sorted and spoke to the owner who was very friendly and accommodating. The electrician turned up on time, diagnosed the fault went and got parts required, fixed and tested all under 2 hours. Great service and reasonable price.

Bryan and his team moved very quickly to accommodate an urgent EICR linked to our house purchase. With short notice the team were able to conduct a detailed survey and deliver this back to me by the following working day. A big thanks to the team at WINN!

I had a new cooker which needed installing professionally into a cooker switch , unfortunately I cannot do this as I am visually impaired so finding the right company can be hard. I reached out to this company via Facebook and they were very friendly & offered to fit my cooker for me all within the next day which was extremely fast service! The gentleman was lovely and did all what needed to do and even provided the cooker wire needed tidied up after himself and tested the cooker to make sure I was happy before he left. An amazing service from Winn electrical they were so friendly caring and polite turned up when they said they would and did the job needed. I cannot thank you enough a 5* service 🌟

I messaged Bryan over the weekend looking to get an electrical inspection certificate as soon as possible. He said they would try and get me in either the following Monday or Tuesday which was brilliant. Monday morning I was told an electrician would be out in the afternoon! The inspection was carried out and the certificate sent over the next morning - we couldn't be happier and 100% will use again.

They’ve carried out a substantial amount of work at my mum’s house, and although the project is still ongoing (as we’re waiting for some other trades to finish), Bryan’s service has been outstanding from start to finish. I cannot recommend this company enough! My sockets kept tripping and I couldn’t work out why, called Winn Electrical’s and the very next day ( after working hours) they came, detected the issue. Put everything right to make things safe for me too. Lovely lads, always tidy up after themselves and are very professional.

Normally we would look at all 5 star reviews with suspicion but having just used Brian Winn and his team we can fully agree with that rating. The company have been excellent keeping us informed and updated every step of the way. The team working in our home were polite, pleasant, helpful and they have all done an excellent job including tidying up at the end of each day and leaving the house clean and tidy enough to live in so we can slowly go through and thoroughly clean. Amazing service - this company has lived up to reviews I had read online. We needed an electrician urgently over the weekend and Winn’s came out to sort out the problem. All staff (plus the owner of the company) that I have come across have been polite, courteous and have delivered a first class service. Can not recommend highly enough. We had an out of hours issue with our burglar alarm constantly sounding. Called the out of hours number and electrician was at my door within 20 minutes. Within 40 minutes the problem was detected and resolved for a more than reasonable price. Totally impressed with Winn Electrical Services. I needed a new consumer unit fitting and to get my property fully compliant with EICR. Brian responded to me within hours, visited my property the next day, gave me a quote and sent a team to do the work within a week or so. The team were great and did the job really efficiently. Soon after they finished the job, Bryan rang me to check I was happy with the work - a great touch and very refreshing. All of this against a background of 3 different Rothbury based electricians not even acknowledging my request for a quote for the job. I won’t hesitate to go directly back to Winn ES for any future electrical jobs.

At relatively short notice Paul and Max efficiently identified and repaired my faulty socket for my dishwasher within half an hour. I was impressed with their professionalism and would certainly recommend Winn’s to anyone requiring electrical work.

If I could have given mores starts I would have !!! FIST CLASS from the first point of contact, even though it was late Friday afternoon, and how thorough they were in ensuring they had the correct information to provide an extremely cost effective quote. Although the price quoted was excellent, it wasn’t the price that made me book the appointment for work, it was the level of service received before we had even agreed to the job. The lads that turned up were professional & friendly, and were ambassadors the company, and the service was undertaken promptly, and what is more they turned up exactly when they said they would. I would not hesitate in recommending Winn Electrical for any person requiring electrical services. On a final note I have just had a follow up call from Bryan (the Boss) personally, letting me know the Certificate was on its way - less than 1/2 day from the lads leaving site, absolutely exceptional service

I used Winns to have a full house rewire and I can say they are one of the best contractors I've ever used. They employ smart, uniformed, polite and reliable staff, who are tidy in their work with a "can do" flexible attitude. There is never any headscratching or "well, thats not possible" to any problem, they just get on and sort it. Their aftercare is also the best, (an afterthought requiring the installation of an additional socket not previously considered was attended to very quickly). I would highly recommend them.

They demonstrated respect to my house (we have a no shoes on the carpet policy!) despite the extra effort required every time they entered and left the house while working. Called Bryan to sort out a couple of dodgy sockets that kept sparking in the house. He came the same day to give me a very reasonable quote. He immediately contacted two of his colleagues who came around within an hour of his initial assessment and installed two new sockets in record time. Our house had an issue with an old fuse box that started to have a burning smell. Someone was sent out almost immediately and the problem was sorted. This was on a Saturday as well.

I had a built in extractor fan that I could not get to work. I reached out to Winn electrical via Facebook messenger and they were prompt to reply. They came out, checked my electrics and the unit. Turns out the extractor fan was at fault. I ordered a new unit and Winn electricians were prompt to fit as soon as it arrived. I searched recommended electricians on a Facebook page as to how I found Winn electricians. - I’d 100% recommend and use again. - 10/10 communication (Facebook messenger and phone call) - friendly team - they triple checked everything before agreeing it was a broken extractor fan - very reasonably priced - I tipped. Simple reason was there was no pressure for payment until entire job was done. I rated that and I thought was really well priced given they came out twice to the property and of course all the messaging on the side etc. Thanks again!

We used Winn Electrical services recently and we were very impressed with the service from start to finish.

All lights in our house fused but no switch on the board out of place indicating a problem. We replaced a couple of fused bulbs and used reset button. However this did not solve the problem. Following morning we rang Winn Electrical. Electrician came that morning. Problem was with lights and fitting in garage which he was able to replace. We moved to Morpeth 5 years ago and this was first time we had needed an electrician. Friend recommended Winns. Very satisfied will use whenever we need an electrician in future. One who came was very efficient and very polite.

Further to my review on Friday, which was labelled "fake" by the owner, I suggest that the business reviews its telephone records for 26th November, the 1st and 2nd December. It is not good to call someone a liar. I have the evidence of the calls and it would be much better to have simply admitted a failure in service standards on this occasion.
