LJ Electrical Services - Hertfordshire electricians

James popped round to remedy some minor electrical issues at home and from the get go he was an absolute gent.

Great response, came out next day (Sunday), identified problem with Velux and got it working. Excellent service, highly recommend

Had a problem with some sockets in the house, called Lj electrical he was very professional and accommodated me pretty much straight away. Very quick and polite service and reasonable pricing, will definitely use again.

We used this electrician for planned electrical works and couldn’t be happier with the service. Communication was excellent from start to finish, the work was carried out on time, and everything was explained clearly. The job was completed neatly and professionally with no issues at all. Highly recommended for anyone looking for reliable electrical work.

James has done various jobs around the house over the past few years - reliable, tidy, friendly. Recommend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars isn’t enough) We had a complete electrical emergency today (on a Saturday) — no power, no heating, and no hot water. Home insurance and boiler cover were absolutely useless and wouldn’t even attend for 24–48 hours. We were desperate. I called around eight other electrical companies. Some didn’t even answer the phone, and others quoted completely crazy call-out prices. After I left a missed call, James from Lj Electrical Services Ltd called me straight back and arrived within 20 minutes. From start to finish, James was outstanding. He quickly identified the issue, fixed it efficiently, and his pricing was more than fair — nowhere near what others were asking. He charged by the hour, whereas everyone else wanted to charge per 30 minutes. When he finished the job, he insisted on cleaning up. I told him not to worry and that I’d do it myself, but he genuinely wanted to — you could tell this level of care and professionalism is simply in his DNA . Looking back, while the situation itself was stressful and a nightmare at the time, I’m actually glad it happened because I’ve now found an electrician I can truly rely on. James is reliable, quick to respond, honest, and trustworthy — qualities that are incredibly rare these days. Contractors like James are extremely hard to find, and I honestly couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

Great and fast communication. They were able to come the next day and gave some extra helpful advice when here.

Thanks James for attending my property in such a short time after contacting you! I had electrical problem that needed fixing urgently. James came , identified and secured the problem and arranged a rapid return time . Impressive .

I've just had James around to PAT test a few items for my son as he is off to University. He is a tay of sunshine on my stressful morning. He was very thorough and respectful of our property. I highly recommend this company for all of your electrical needs. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future and I without a doubt 110% recommend. Thankyou 🌟

Great service and super friendly. Were able to come out and fix an issue for us next day (or even offered same day if we were in). Fixed the issue and found some other problems whilst testing and fixed those too. All for a reasonable rate. Would use again. Thanks!

Very pleased with the electrical work done in my outhouses. It has solved a lot of problems for me. Considering the weather conditions that they worked through was impressive. I will recommend LJ Electrical Services to anyone looking for a electrician and will use them again.

Excellent work every time from these guys! We’ve used them 4 times in 1 year since moving into our new house. Flexible with times and availability to suit our schedule. They’ve fitted Ring cameras, fixed sockets, fitted new electrical points and given great advice each time. They’re nice to deal with as well, which really helps so I’d happily recommend to anyone and will definitely be using them again soon.

I found LJ Electricals very customer friendly in their approach in explaining the root causes and how best to get it resolved. They have done a few jobs with thoroughness and have come back when we have had tasks that needed checking. Best regards Khalid

Call out LJ electrical to install a new socket for a tv due to us rearranging the flat, outstanding service very professional efficient and quick.

I shouted who's the Sparky in Screwfix as I'd seen a very cool logo on a van outside, that's when I met Luke (the L in LJ), the rest is history. I explained I'd been looking for an electrician and needed some work doing, but as I was going away he said "no problem I'll call you when you're back and pop round and have a look, I honestly though well he won't call, he did! And from that point on he and James have completed all the electrics in our new kitchen project, including a new fuse board (work of art see the photo) that James (the J in LJ) painstakingly wired. They have put power in the garden shed, and with the upgraded fuse board we no longer have any safety hazards. And they sorted all the safety certificates for the house. Yesterday they completed removal of all the old kitchen electrics and installed new equipment ready for its use as an office. So with the work complete it's only right to share the experience, as I know how hard it is to find a good electrician. I know I'm a fussy customer (a bit of OCD going on) but they have worked so hard to meet our deadlines and changing specifications, without complaint. They always explained why they do things in a certain way, and to be brutally honest I cannot fault them, both in the standard of their work and communication with us. So if you need an electrician I would look no further than LJ Electrical!

My cousin called James out to fix the bathroom light, but the whole unit needed replacing, so he went out and got a brand new LED unit and installed it all within 45 minutes. Excellent service, highly recommend.

We reached out to James about an electrical safety test to ensure it was OK to use a 3pin EV charger in our garage and to replace a faulty flood light. Gave an upfront quote which gave us peace of mind about the costs. His team arrived exactly on time, and finished the work quickly & to a high standard. They took the extra time to talk me through how the EV chargers work, and generally teach me about what amps/kWh mean in relation to EVs. Made me feel a lot more secure in buying my first EV. Our go to electrician going forward.

I needed an urgent electrical help at property. I called LJ Electrical Services and James called back immediately. He was very professional, helpful. I was very impressed with James' professionalism and quick response and I'm planning to use this company again. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Called LJ for an emergency call out - responded quickly and resolved issue with no fuss. Would certainly use them again

I wanted to express my gratitude and share my sincere opinion about James and the outstanding service we received. It was my birthday, and we were expecting guests. I had planned to bake my birthday cake, but unfortunately, every time I turned on the oven, the power in the entire house went out. I was desperate, knowing that my family and friends would be arriving soon. We looked up James’ contact information. He answered the phone immediately and, with calmness and enthusiasm, assured me that he could be at our place within 30 minutes. He resolved the issue in no time and explained the cause of the problem. Not only did he save my day, but he also demonstrated professionalism, understanding, kindness, empathy, and a great sense of humor (which was much needed, as I was extremely stressed). We need more professionals like him! I highly recommend him and sincerely thank him.

Would definitely recommend LJ Electrical Services. Did a great job rewiring and putting up lights. Will definitely call them back for future work 👍

I needed an urgent electrical inspection at my rental property. I called LJ Electrical Services and James called back immediately. He was very professional, helpful and carefully explained exactly what the inspection would involve. I was immediately confident that this was a reliable company. The work was completed the following day, during which time, James made regular contact to explain how work was progressing and some extra work required and costs involved. I was very impressed with James' professionalism and quick response and I'm planning to use this company again. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Our Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) was out of date so we contacted LJ Electrical Services for a quotation to carry out a full safety check on our home electrical system. They provided us with fixed prices to carry out all the required EICR checks and to complete the required remedial work. The prices quoted were very clearly stated and competitive so we asked them to carry out the job. Luke and James from LJ Electrical Services carried out the work. They provided a very professional service. They are friendly and hard working. The work was carried out in a timely manner and to cost. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Excellent service and communication from James. Did the work promptly and efficiently and kept me informed of what was needed. I have no hesitation in recommending them, thank you James and team for a job well done.

We called James last week when we had an unexpected problem with our power tripping intermittently. He arrived quickly, was very friendly and worked hard to identify the problem. He was very considerate when moving around the house, taking off his shoes and working quietly so as not to disturb our sleeping daughter. Once he had identified the problem he explained it to us clearly and advised us what to do next. He was very fair in the price he charged for the call-out and his labour. We would definitely use James again in the future. Thank you!

James came out to me in Hitchin to replace my light fittings throughout the property. Very happy with the work and was reasonably priced. I’d recommend to anyone and will use again for any electrical needs!

Good quality of work in a timely fashion and good price

I recently hired lj electrical services for a complex job, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. James, the electrician assigned to the project, was incredible from start to finish. His communication was clear and proactive—he kept me informed every step of the way, which was really reassuring given the challenging nature of the work. The job involved intricate wiring at a significant height, something I knew would require skill and precision. James tackled it with a great can-do attitude and a level of expertise that was immediately obvious. He assessed the situation quickly, took all the necessary safety precautions, and completed the work with impressive speed and efficiency. Despite the tricky setup, he made it look seamless. James’s attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work made the entire process stress-free. The final result was flawless, and I felt confident knowing the job was done to the highest standard. Lj electrical services, truly delivers on their promise of excellent service, and I’d happily work with them again. Highly recommended!"

Had James, and Luke come out to update my fuse box, re fix some light fittings, and add extra sockets in my guest room. They turned up, punctual, clean and very well mannered. The quote handed was met on the finalisation of the job, even though a few extra little hiccups occurred. Many thanks for your hard and tidy work ethics.

I can’t thank James enough for his help in a time of need. We had an unexpected power outage late in the evening, and he was at our place within 30 minutes. I’ve used James and Luke for several years both on my let and residential properties. Always been delighted with their work and honest assessment of what my options were. Reliable and trustworthy. Also can be trusted to be left to crack on with the work if needing to pop out which is what I had to do when I needed to rush off out of the house for a few hours. Definitely Happy to trust him with my house keys for further works in the future, again to let him crack on with the jobs. Highly Recommend.
