Having recently downsizes to a smaller property which was electric only and that had been unoccupied for a number of years, we were in need of someone who could complete a full electrical inspection and subsequently carry out all remedial work and the upgrading of the internal heating system ( outdated and inefficient electric storage heating ) We started searching on-line for a competent electrical engineer / contractor and some one with the ability to assess and advise us of our heating needs room by room, and also install the latest and most efficient modern electric storage heaters. Initially we couldn't find this specialist in our area, but when we opened our search up to a wider area, we came accross "RAY OF LIGHT" Electrical Contractors and subsequently invited Colin over and we asked him to undertake a full electrical inspection of our property, he undertook this and kept us advised throughout, in particular drawing our attention to factors that were below current standards and how these factors would need addressing - we went on to asking Colin to replace to consumer units and upgrade to current standards, restore lost earth circuits etc, and replace degraded light units and finally install the "Dimplex Quantum" modern storage heaters as he is an approved installer for the Dimplex Quantum heaters. All in all Colin has been the exact person for our needs, he is very technically mined , skilful and he has very high standard's of work, both from an electrical point of view but also in that he is very meticulous in what he does even down to removing any mess that he has caused. We can only highly recommend him and we will ask him to come back and fit a few other electrical items when we have been able to complete some other alterations. Colin (Ray of Light) has provided us with exceptional service recently. Internally, he’s fixed the lights, sockets, electric shower, Ring doorbell, and even replaced the main consumer unit for us. EICR certificate Upon inspection for an EICR certificate Colin highlighted some fire hazards from previous electrical work and other discrepancies that needed attention, after completing work required I am now confident in my tenants safety and me being sure that the property is electrically safe. Having purchased an older property in need of considerable renovation we were totally reliant on finding a knowledgeable, experienced electrician who was able to tackle a full rewire and make the house both safe and up to date. Colin provided an excellent service from start to finish which included an initial review followed by a comprehensive quotation before the works started. Colin completed a full rewire of the house which included a new consumer box, lithium optical mains powered smoke alarms, sockets, pendants, cooker installation, hob ignition and towel rail. Work also included the installation of a smaller consumer unit in the garage along with the installation of lighting, internal and external sockets. Colin is extremely professional, this was a large job and all the work he carried out for us has been to a consistently high standard. He only installs a top of the range electrical equipment, which other tradesmen have noticed and commented on. The quality of his work is of the highest standard, he is meticulous, tidy, courteous and above all I am in no doubt he has left us with a safe, compliant and much improved house. Colin came to our house to add extra sockets for a new fireplace and to relocate the tv and satellite system from one side of the room to the opposite wall. Colin went the extra mile and also came up with some great suggestions such as cable management and hiding our Sky box and cables all out of the way under the stairs. Colin also fitted additional light fittings in our lounge and did a fabulous job of wall mounting our new TV. Would highly recommend and will definitely use Ray of alight again.

Colin has recently undertaken a range of work at our property. This included undertaking an inspection and repairs required to make our home electrics safe. This included replacing an old consumer unit, repairing wiring faults, installing fire rated lights and replacing old cracked sockets. Colin also installed new ceiling lights throughout our property, as well as security cameras, external lights and a new burglar alarm system. Colin and his assistant Ellis were totally professional throughout. We initially contacted Colin (Ray of Light) regarding an installation of an outside socket. Due to it being a rented accommodation, Colin carried out a full electrical safety inspection according to the current electrical safety standards. Colin replaced an old consumer unit, installed an outside socket and replaced internal sockets. His work is of very high standards and he took the time to explain what needed to be done. Colin recently completed a complete rewire of our house. We are so happy with the work and the level service. From the start he was able to give an accurate prediction of scale of the job, how long it might take, and an indication of the cost. Colin clearly takes pride in his work. Not only is he meticulous, but he is also very knowledgeable when it comes to remaining both safe and compliant. The cost was always fair, with hours work reflected accurately and even refunds if parts or wire were not used. I got Colin to replace 2x Dimplex heaters and a shower unit. Paid a deposit in advance for the heaters and they were delivered the next day. The installation was done a couple of days later. Was very clear in his explanation of what needed doing and how he would do it, stuck to the schedule and everything was completed to a very high standard. I was a bit wary of getting the work done in advance but having used Ray of Light I would 100% recommend them. Will definitely be using again.

We have recently had Colin around to replace an old consumer unit, conduct a full safety check of the electrics and up-date lighting in the bathroom, kitchen and hallway. Ref: Pulsacoil repair - So pleased we found Colin who did a great job fixing our Pulsacoil water heating system. Having recently acquired the apartment it was evident that the water heating system was faulty. Colin identified that the previous owners had disconnected the economy10 so we were unable to benefit from the off-peak rate and that the immersion heaters were leaking. He was extremely knowledgeable of the system, turned up when he said he would and was reasonably priced. I recently had a problem with my solar panels. I tried to contact the suppliers and electrical contractors, but both companies had ceased trading!!! I Googled for a local suitable electrician and Ray of Light was one of the results. I immediately telephone Colin and we arranged for him to visit the following day (Saturday) for a diagnostic investigation. Colin was very clear from the outset about his charges, which was a welcome change from some tradesmen that I have employed previously. Colin determined that my 'inverter' was faulty and needed replacing. By agreement, Colin contacted me within 2 working days with a quotation for the work saying that he could perform the work within a week, subject to availability of the replacement item. The work was completed yesterday, Monday. Colin's work ethic is excellent. He is clean, methodical and very safety conscious. I have not long bought a house and found Ray Of Light Electrical. After a brief conversation on the phone, Colin was around the next day as agreed. Colin quickly identified a number a faults and issues with the current wiring of the house, which was promptly corrected. I then asked Colin to complete the wiring of the extension. Colin explain incredibly well and in detail all the stages to wire an extension. Including fitting a new consumer unit. Colin has since fitted CCTV and an Alarm system. There is no one I would recommend more. Top Job, Top Bloke.

The repaire of pulsacoil A class water boiler in Birmingham was very professional. Colin is an expert detected the faulty parts, brought the spare parts and replaced them. Very efficient all work was done the same day . Also gave us very good advice and information On How to operate it. I definitely recommend him and will call again for any electric work needed.

I was having issues with my Pulsacoil A Class not giving me enough hot water and called two other companies who failed both times to resolve the issue. After two failed attempts I found Colin from Ray of light electrical services (Coventry) who I had read the reviews about his work which were very positive and have to say I was not disappointed. Colin called whe he said he would and turned up at the time he said he would, checked the pulsacoil, diagnosed the problem and then told me the exact cost to repair it which I agreed and he repaired it there and then. I would highly recommend.

I had a new Consumer Board fitted, new Bathroom lights and kitchen spotlights fitted, electrical test carried out around the entire house, outside electrics fitted and electrics fitted in garage. The work carried out was fantastic, everything I asked for was completed, my opinion was asked for on many occasions, more technical things were explained in a way that made it easy for me to understand. Colin made his initial visit to diagnose the problem really quickly after I made contact with him, on a Sunday too, and then returned the following week to complete the repair. He explained the system and the needed repairs and undertook the work professionally. All for a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend.

I had Colin to fit security camera's and he did such a good job of it we asked him to install electrics in our shed to run our fridge and the pump and filter for our fish pond. I have just had colin out to have a look at my immersion heater because I had no hot water. He came out within half an hour and fixed everything within 1 hour at a very good price! I am happy that he did come out, I had a couple of lad come an look at it earlier in the day and left without doing anything, pulled the plug socket out and left. I am very grateful that Colin had fixed everything and also recommended me his plumber to fix the immersion heater tank. Also, he showed me how to do regular checks with the fused box. I had Colin today to fix the power switch to the electric shower. He was a decent bloke; punctual and efficient and was well prepared. He taught me some general household safety and how to maintain the welfare of the switch. The price isn't bad, and he will come in again tomorrow to fix my extractor fan.
