SJD Electrical & Cumbria Home Renovations

A brilliant set of people to deal with, knowledgeable, well organised and professional. Simon, Carl and team’s work is tidy and they flex to accommodate the situation. Gave me a strong feeling of confidence in them tackling any problems that emerged. Clare in the office is super organised and responsive. There are plenty of cowboys out there providing low-ball quotes. If you want it done right, without hassle, choose these guys.

Had a Tesla powerwall 2 installed by Simon and the team a couple of years ago. A great job and its been worth its weight in gold as its provides a back-up supply to the whole house and we get frequent powercuts. Indeed, after Storm Eown we were without mains power for 3 days. The powerwall kept the lights, fridge and freezer and central heating on all that time and because there was some sun and the solar panels still work, it topped the battery up. Was so impressed, that have just had Simon install a second Powerwall 2 and its another excellent installation. I highly recommend Simon and the team.

We have used sjdelectrical twice recently, both times for electrical surveys. We are very impressed with the standard and thoroughness of the work. Gary, who carried out the surveys, is exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced . One of the properties was Georgian and the other approximately 50 years old. The follow up work on the older property was done within a day and was not an easy job regarding access to one of the distribution boxes. We will certainly use sjd for the remedial work on the second property, and also will use their expertise to hopefully install new low energy lighting. Clair, is an asset to the company, keeping us updated on procedures.

SJD did an excellent job for me at a very fair price. Turned up when they said they would, did everything needed and left the place tidy. Nice guys and polite with it. What more can you ask?

Enjoyed working with Simon and Clare. They’ve just installed a 7.3kW system on our roof and it’s fantastic to see it generating power. What is more, they were the only supplier locally who were both motivated and confident that they could install an in-roof system onto our corrugated sheet metal roof. Other suppliers were pushing for either on-roof installs or if it was in-roof then it would be significantly less generation capability. Both of which were disappointing to us. SJD on the other hand were very helpful in working with our architect directly through the design phase to optimise the layout and in turn adjust the roof design to accommodate more panels. Their patience and communication was also great - we are no experts in solar etc so it was good to be guided through this process so we’re very grateful for that. They also helped us future proof our system advising on cables and ducts (it was a self build so we could do this) in order to accommodate a future battery when we have the funds. The panels look amazing, and we’re really excited to be benefitting from the solar gains!

SJD provided a very neat and tidy solar installation on my house. I was kept well informed as the order progressed with regards to installation date, and guarantee and certification paperwork was provided promptly. I'm very satisfied with the product and service and recommend SJD for solar array and battery installation work.

Just had EICR done by SJD. Very professional, punctual, reliable, and great communication with Simon who carried out the work, and Clare who did the admin. She sent the required paperwork through as a priority. Stuck to their quoted price, even though Simon had to go and search out a part to complete the work. I absolutely recommend them and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Great people!!!

It’s been a pleasure dealing with SJD. From the initial planning to the final execution, the company has been very professional and competent. Simon came on a couple of site visits and planned the PV and battery system. The queries I had were quickly answered and Clare was very helpful. Everything went very smoothly on the agreed installation date with the bulk of the equipment delivered the day before and on the day, four people did the bulk of the installation as a well-practiced team. Completion was the following day. Would recommend without hesitation.

Simon and the team Installed Tesla Powerwalls for us, when one of them developed a fault 2 years later. Simon contacted Tesla to get a replacement sent out and installed under warranty for free, combined with Clare on admin keeping us informed every step of the way great company, would recommend to all.

Simon and the team were great and we would definitely recommend. They fitted us a full solar system on a flat roof and also some household electrical work and both were done exactly when predicted and to a high standard. Communication is great.

Great Job on the solar install - thank you

This company installed a 166 panel 48Kwh solar PV array for us at The Lake District Coast Aquarium, Maryport, in March 2019. After 4.5 years this has now paid for itself, not least because the whole design and installation was first rate. Any problems, and they were vanishingly rare, were dealt with promptly. Great people to do business with.

We were kept informed at every stage of the development and the work was completed to a very high standard. We received a prompt reply to any queries we had during construction.

We are very pleased with the solar PV installation just completed by SJD Electrical. We were particularly impressed with the quality of communications throughout, and with the timeliness of installation. It's a pleasure to acknowledge the fine work of a local company.

I wanted to use a local solar system installer rather than a National company both to support local companies and hopefully to get a better service as local firms need to protect their reputation. Clare dealt quickly with all the initial correspondence including the G99 submission. A date was agreed and the installation went ahead as planned. The scaffolding and delivery of the equipment was arranged by SJD a few days before the installation. The installation was completed in a day without any issues with the system up and running at the end of the day. All in all a job well done and I would definitely recommend them to others.

Horses for course .as they say no problems with these guys all good experienced proffesional tradesmen

We are very happy with the 5kw solar panels & battery fitted by Simon & his team. They were professional & worked quickly with little disruption. All emails and enquiries were replied to promptly by Clare who kept us informed of dates and times of deliveries, scaffolders, roofers and commencement of works. We would very much recommend SJD ELECTRICAL SERVICES (Carlisle) LTD.

Can definitely recommend, great communication right through the process. Panel’s only been up a few days but so far everything working fine.

No complaints, great communication with company in general, emails always answered. Good quality work; would recommend

Speedy, Professional, Competitive service highly recommended

Arrived on time, fitted to a good standard. Job done nicely.

SJD have installed a solar panel system for us and we've been impressed with the service from the start. The communication from Clare has been prompt and professional throughout and Simon and his team have carried out a clean and professional job with little disruption to us. Everything has been on time and when it was expected, from the deliveries to the work beginning. Would definitely recommend.

Professional team who managed the work from start to finish. This included the scaffolding and installation of solar panels which was timed very well to minimise disruption to household. I would highly recommend this team ☺️

Simon and his team were amazing. They stuck to deadline and were extremely professional and quick to install my solar system and car charger. They were well priced and provided some stunning panels to fit with the roof. Would recommend if you are looking to get solar panel installation.

Great service from start to finish. From initial enquiry through to installation of solar panels and battery, communications were clear and prompt. There was no hard sell on the site visit, just a check to ensure the were no unknowns and the quote was valid. Simon and his team did a great job with all installation completed the same day

Simon & his installation team fitted a solar panel array & battery system to our house. They provided a full service including scaffolding, roofing, insulation, and making good. Great job, very pleased. The whole team were all extremely polite and personable. Clare, in the Office, responded quickly to any queries. Highly recommended.

Simon and his team installed solar panels on our roof and a storage battery. They did a great job and I can recommend them if you have a similar project.

Being deaf, I *email* companies, rather than telephone them, when asking for quotes for work… – and the majority either take ages to respond, or (more commonly) my message disappears into a black hole. Not so with SJD. My initial email was responded to almost immediately: as were subsequent messages sent before work commenced. Out of a final pair of contractors, this was one of the main reasons I chose them. It also helped that their replies were knowledgeable, informative, and that rare mix of professional and friendly… – qualities that were reflected in the work carried out: the installation of eight solar panels, an inverter, and two batteries for storage. To be blunt, Simon and his team were amazing: and carried out the work in very cold weather without complaint, but with humour, a huge amount of effort, expertise by the bucketful, massive determination, and a brilliant knack for problem-solving. From start to finish, their experience and positive attitude were obvious; and, four days later, I am already generating sufficient electricity to be ‘off-grid’, as well as to charge those hefty batteries. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a contractor with such a great ethos. Simon is a brilliant boss, leading by example; and his wonderful team (including the agile Rhy and Toby) therefore flourish under his management. But, for me, they would be nothing without Clare, back at base, patiently answering my constant barrage of questions. (Simon may have been installing solar power for a decade or so; but this is my first time… – and almost certainly my last! And I knew nothing. I was never patronized once, though.) If you’re in Cumbria, and looking for someone to carry out electrical work – especially if you want solar power installing – look no further: I am sure you will be as pleasantly amazed as I was!

5kw solar system and battery fitted The installation went well , everything was arranged by sjd , deliveries, electrical, roofer, scaffold etc etc everyone work quickly and efficiently, the job was left spotlessly clean The price was very competitive, paid by instalments, which is a good idea Simon explained the system thoroughly, how to start and shut down and how to use Highly recommend, when we downsize house we will use sjd again Thank you again

Solar panels and battery installation. Simon and his team give good service. The price was competitive and Simon gives honest advice about the technology that is available and the return you will get from your purchase.

My telephone call asking for them to contact me has had no result.

Used SJD For the complete rewiring and renovation of my new home. Simon organised everything, including plasterers, plumbers, kitchen fitters, painters and tilers etc. All work done to a very high standard. Great communication, Simon always responded same day to messages. Weekly updates by phone and email. Competitive quotes and very reliable. Can't thank Simon enough. I love my new home. I highly recommend SJD Electrical and Home Renovations.

Great service and price 10/10

I found SJD Electrical Services Carlisle to be Professional and Reliable. I would use again :)

We had a full solar panel installation undertaken by SJD recently and we are absolutely delighted with the end result. When Simon first came to our home, we were very impressed with his advice – we found him very down to earth, knowledgeable and he explained what is a very complex installation in lay-man’s terms that we could understand. Simon and his team arrived when they said they would, installed the panels under horrendous weather conditions and left the whole work area immaculate. We have had our solar panels for a few months now so feed-in tariffs etc. have started to come through, exactly the way that Simon explained to us. We cannot express our gratitude to Simon enough and we would recommend SJD Electrical to any prospective customer.

Once again Simon has delivered; he and his team are a very handy company to know. This time (and yes I have used him before) his skills were required to install an electric oven. The old oven was taken out with minimal fuss and replaced. Will it make me a better cook? Only time will tell, but certainly it will leave me with one fewer excuse. The old oven we had seemingly only had two settings for food, one which left it raw or the other burnt it to a crisp! The whole installation process happened so smoothly he (Simon) even had time to look at a light fitting in my sons room. He hadn't even had chance to finish the Tea I'd made and he was done. - So would I recommend him? Absolutely - Out of 10 what rating would rating would SJD get? 10 - What would I say to someone who was considering using SJD Electrical but was unsure? Simon and his team are a fast, efficient and most importantly when it comes to trades reliable. Simon is a "do what he says he will do" kind of guy so he's VERY easy to recommend.

I met Simon the owner of SJD at BNI Networking at the Cumbria Park Hotel in Carlisle. I had been looking to do some electrical work fitting some new sockets and a light in my new shed for a while so I was glad to find someone who came recommended. I found Simon and his colleague professional and friendly when they did the work. They did the job quickly and didn't leave any mess around after they finished. A good job for a reasonable price. Many Thanks.
