Nick came and quoted on lifting and insulating under our suspended floor before we go on to fitting underfloor heating. He came within a day of reaching out, patiently and expertly scoped out the job and our broader retrofit ambitions and was prompt with a very fair and detailed quote. Sadly our schedules didn't align but Nick went over and above any other contractor we've ever used: supplying detailed "how-to's" for the job and even giving us an all important roll of airtightness tape on an evening ours ran (typicallY the day before the underfloor heating was due to be laid!). So Shanks...patient, professional and absolutely committed to helping people achieve energy efficient well made homes - even if it's not earning for them! Nick is possibly the best and most professional tradesperson we've dealt with since buying a property 15 years ago. He is an absolutely stickler for quality, for clearing and cleaning up, and for finding the best solutions and overcoming the inevitable hitches in any significant job to an older property. We had some fairly critical structural work, and some rendering to the read edifice of the property - and logically decided to get insulation in as we were already paying for rendering and scaffolding. The job is superb, the back of the house looks incredible. Nick was pleasant and easy to communicate with throughout. We've passed on Nick's details to friends who've also been happy with his service. Also a shout out to Johnny who works with Nick at time of writing and was also fantastic with a great work ethic and highly professional approach.

Shanks electrical services gave us great service on our terrace house rewire recently. The attention to detail and problen solving because of the existing system was excellent. A fair price too for a relatively small but complex job.
Fantastic service. Our kitchen wall socket exploded leaving us without a working kitchen and risk of fridge/freezer contents defrosting and spoiling. Nick kindly found time to help at the drop of a hat, despite having another job on. Within 2 hours of first picking up the phone we had a repaired socket and working kitchen, a clear explanation and understanding of what the issue was and helpful advice about what might prevent any further issues down the line. We will definitely use his services again, wholeheartedly recommended.
Nick did a lot work for me with renovation, tiling, plumbing etc, plus decorating on 2 cottages. Always thoughtful and innovative in overcoming problems, and sourcing materials etc. Great work all round!

They have also completed the electrical work and hanging my new curtains in the lounge and blinds in the kitchen. I had some great work done by Shanks & Co. - A shed built to house a kiln outside my studio. Both the design , and the building were excellent, efficient and good value. I really appreciated the fact that Nick was open to including some of my ideas too. ( very unusual and refreshing!) Plus a pleasant, cheerful, and accommodating fellow to have around.
