I was very grateful to find Robert during the process of selling my house. My buyer's surveyor had reported concerning damp issues with my house, potentially scuppering the sale, but I was sure that the survey was misleading. I was recommended to follow up with a damp survey and quote from Rentokil, but instead I tried to find an experienced, independent damp surveyor. Robert was exactly what I needed. I moved into a house some years ago and, over time, noticed some minor condensation issues and mould spotting in one of the rooms. When they didn’t resolve of their own accord, I spoke to the previous owner and it became clear that he had arranged cavity wall insulation through his energy supplier (now bust). For reasons I won’t go into here, I was pretty certain that he’d ended up with a “cowboy job”. So, the brief for Rob was “find out what sort of a job (if any) they did; establish whether any defects are likely to be the cause of my issues; tell me what I need to do about it”. Rob provided a very clear report addressing all of those points. I raised a few questions on his proposed solutions by e-mail at 10pm last night and, 12 hours later, he’d given me a comprehensive and helpful response. So, while I considered carefully whether I could break away from the overwhelming pattern on this site of people giving Rob 5* reviews, I’ve decided I couldn’t come up with a good reason to do that! So, there you have it – yet another 5* review for Rob!

I used Damp and Timber Tech as my mortgage lender identified some damp when they carried out the valuation survey. I spoke with Rob on a Monday evening and he had booked in with the estate agent to carry out his report by Wednesday morning of the same week! I could tell from our phone conversation that Rob was very experienced in this field and that gave me confidence that he was the right guy for the job. By Friday I had a full report with photos to send over to the lender. After I moved in I asked Robert to do a full house survey on the actual and potential damp issues in my Victorian end of terrace home I was about to strip out dry linings & internally insulate the external solid brick walls and wanted to keep the house free of condensation The report layout & writing style was a bit confusing but it was thorough including product suggestions and detailed instructions for a couple of ways to prevent damp & condensation using different materials And he has been very helpful when I or the builder had queries during the work

I was advised to seek out professional independent advice before seeking solutions to a variety of damp issues we had (in a building built around 1910), and so searched online to this end. The report prepared following the survey is comprehensive, and has given me a much better insight. I would highly recommend Damp Timber Tech. Robert's knowledge and attention to detail in this specialist damp area is just exceptional. We were buying a property and originally had a building survey from another company that was very inconclusive about anything damp related in the basement of the property but just said there was 'damp' present and highlighted all the risks (we were left uncertain on what was going on). After considerable research on damp specialists, I then chose Damp and Timber and I'm so pleased I did. Robert very professional, and his knowledge was impressive. He could diagnosis exactly what was damp and what was not, and was able to recommend what remedial works could be done to address damp and the costs. We could therefore buy our property with confidence on what needed to be done (fairly minor). We were so well informed after reading Robert's report that it made a huge difference in understanding damp in the property and ultimately making a decision (as well as the report taking away stress of uncertainty). I would like to choose a Damp and Timber survey company that can give independent assessment about a property. I did some research for several companies. I choose Damp and Timber Tech Ltd in the end because of the good customer reviews and his knowledge and expertise. It turned out a really great choice, Robert called me one day after the survey to tell me the main results. He then produced a survey report swiftly. The report is really impressive, it is even more comprehensive than the report I got from my building survey. It has sufficient details, photos and drawings to indicate the defect areas and also the cost for repair. When I had any question about the report, Robert was incredibly helpful and he called me to talk through any concern I had. As the owner of the company, he really takes care of the customer.
