Excellent customer service from the time I went to the company looking for ideas., to the completion of the job. Would not hesitate to recommend this small company and would certainly use again.

Extremely happy with the end result to planned works ... replacement of combi boiler and 7 ancient radiators, plus associated enabling works. Professional room by room survey to establish precise requirements, with subsequent quotation ( with options). Agreed works carried out as per programme and within advised timescales. Engineers worked in a clean and tidy manner, with minimum disruption, and were very knowledgeable on all aspects. Document handover at the end of works with an explanation of relevant procedures. System upgraded and balanced ... can't believe the difference ! All in all would highly recommend Helmanis & Howell based on my experience.

We wanted to remove our old oven and some cupboard to generally update our existing kitchen whilst retaining some of the features we liked from our old one . This brief was brilliantly interpreted by David and we are delighted with our new kitchen . The team of trades they use were simply excellent in every respect . Diligent , friendly and always respectful.The job took place when David said it would with minimum fuss and disruption and all queries quickly and effectively dealt with which included a couple of later additions to the original plan . We would highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again for our future bathroom up grades.

I cannot praise highly enough the whole team at Helmanis & Howell. From the design stage with David, through to the fitting with the team, it has been a pleasure getting the bathroom refurbished. We absolutely love it. A proper turnkey solution.

**Avoid**. The after sales service is terrible. An extractor fan (less than 12 months old) became inefficient and we were informed their engineer could not find a fault, (it was leaking fat residue from its mechanism) I was informed that was from lack of cleaning, this is not true and is offensive) We were told that they would order a new filter (at our expense), we purchased the filter ourselves using the serial number of the appliance, it did not fit correctly as the extractor had bent out of shape. We had to buy a new filter as the original filter turned an awful colour when I cleaned it. We have since purchased and fitted a new, high quality extractor which immediately solved the issue. We have waited four weeks to confirm the fix has remained constant before submitting this review.

Kitchens and bedroom made easy. I have in the past replace 3 kitchens and refurbished many bedrooms with flat pack furniture in various home we have owned. Each has had its own difficulties and trials to overcome, and yes, in the kitchen, I’ve usually got soaked🤭. This time I wanted someone else to take the strain and it has been the easiest kitchen and bedroom experience by far. David listened to what we wanted and added suggestions through his experience. When we added things or changed things late on in the process, nothing was too much trouble. Graham and Bob( Kitchen/bedroom Fitter and Electrian extraordinaire) worked diligently and professionally adding their ideas to make this our perfect kitchen and bedroom. Oh ! and no one got wet with Jason’s masterful plumbing😄. The only job I had to do was paint the walls and ceiling, offer tea and coffee, and oh yes!!!!…..pay for it.🤪 Truly a beautiful job done well. Thanks to all at H&H

Helmanis and Howell recently fitted a new bathroom to accommodate a walk in shower, grab rails and seat I cannot praise them enough for their first rate service - the quality of workmanship is second to none.

Helmanis and Howell installed a combi boiler in my home 17 years ago. They also changed radiators. I was very impressed then with the experience from start to finish. Earlier this year(2025) the boiler started having a few problems and so I decided that it would be better to replace it. I got a few quotes but is was Helmanis and Howell who actually brought along details of 3 possible boilers. The man told me that I wouldn't need the most expensive for my home and not many companies would do that! They actually gave the best advice and their quote was excellent. I decided on one of the models because of the excellent work done previously. They were able to install it very quickly, for which I was most grateful. The boiler was installed in a day and it included a power flush, new flue etc. No fuss, no mess from a very pleasant and knowledgeable engineer. I was given "instructions " on how to use it too. From start to finish the experience was very good. Communication was excellent. I have told a number of people about this company and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They provide a very reliable, trustworthy and caring service which, in this day and age, is very difficult to find. A good,old fashioned family firm with all the modern ideas. I recommend them 100%.

Always first rate service from a great company

We have used Helmanis & Howell a number of times both to service a boiler and to install a new one. I can’t recommend them highly enough enough. The staff are superb - knowledgeable, polite, clean & tidy, and above all they know what they’re doing with boilers. I would not use anyone else if I needed anything doing regarding a boiler. They do showers and bathrooms too.

Excellent service from the receptionist through to the installation engineers who made a special effort to get my boiler fitted within a week.Worked steadily from 9am to 4pm then explained clearly how the boiler and controls work. Left my flat spotlessly clean as well, highly recommended company.

What a relief. Plumbers / heating engineers who know their stuff. Granted more expensive than others asked to do the job but the others either failed to turn up (3 week lead in time) imagine the frustration or could not get the bits. Helmanis & Howell delivered everything on time and at the price agreed. Disposed of old radiators pipe work etc made good walls and even vacuumed up. Brilliant firm. Just had same firm back to install boiler. Absolutely first class service, so pleased we asked them to do work.

I have used this company on numerous occasions to carry out work in my home. From having a boiler fitted to a complete renovation of my front bedroom and the whole house getting new radiators in every room. I highly recommend this professional company. The work is completed to a high standard and the follow up inspections are thorough. Any work required in my home that is in the remit of Helmanis and Howell will always be my first choice to go to.

This company did a great job designing and installing our new bedroom, bathroom and downstairs cloakroom. The inevitable little changes we made and two small snagging fixes were dealt with efficiently. A job so good we are having the team back for the next room to be upgraded!

Helmanis & Howell are the complete package. From the initial showroom visit, through design, estimation, installation and aftercare you are in the expert hands of David and his team. Nothing is rushed, nothing is forgotten, your ideas are delivered in the finest detail. My kitchen is the third H&H installation. Previously I have a wet room created and a downstairs loo completely refurbished. I have been totally satisfied every time and would wholeheartedly recommend the firm to you.

H&H fitted a shower cubicle abut 18 months ago, and on Friday this week the door was difficult to close. We called Helmanis at 11.30 am and by 1.30 we had a very helpful service engineer at our door. I had my bathroom and en suite updated last year. The range of goods and knowledge the staff had were outstanding, they couldn’t help enough. The prices were competitive and they went above and beyond to work with my budget. The tradesmen were extremely tidy and left everything as I’d hoped to have found it, whilst being polite and friendly too. I now have my boiler serviced by them yearly too, they are very punctual and do things when they say they are to be done. Overall I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Excellent service, managed to source the extra filters we needed for our Elica extractor hood and David was brilliant in assisting with the actual hood delivery. Fantastic company - highly recommend.

Fantastic service, they managed to track down the specific Elica extractor hood we required in the UK. Rather than wait weeks, if not months for a delivery from Italy. Nothing is too much trouble, and they genuinely appreciate their customers and deliver a high service. Keep up the good work.

In the early eighties, H & H replaced our back boiler and fitted a new shower in the bathroom. We were happy with the work Glyn and George carried out. Roll on to 2020, we decided to upgrade the heating system with new radiators and a combi boiler so we decided to give H & H a call. All the lads involved in the work carried out were pleasant, hard working and tidy. This year we have had a new bathroom fitted and Jordan and Craig worked extremely hard, again very tidy and an asset to the company. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again if the need arises.

I rang Helmanis and Howell for some advice about a problem I have with my gas fire, and spoke to Jen, who was very pleasant. She suggested a solution to my problem straightaway, and, to further reassure me, took the time to double check with one of their gas fire engineers, who agreed with her advice - which, by the way, didn't involve spending any money. Very happy with the service.

We write to thank your company and staff for the very professional and competent completion of the installation of the kitchen - bathroom - shower-room and cloakroom at our flat in Darlington. From the moment we stepped through the doors of Helmanis & Howell showroom, we were welcomed by the friendly and courteous manager ( David ) who explained each of our questions without any hard sales. When we first visited the showroom, we were looking just for a new kitchen, but we were so impressed with David’s knowledge and personal service, that we decided also to use his company to install a new bathroom also some additional alterations to the shower-room and cloakroom. The company co-ordinate the project from start to finish, organising all the necessary tradesmen under one roof, working together as a team, the work was completed to a high standard and within the time allocated. Each time I visited the flat, it was noticeable that all tradespersons employed on this project, were professional, considerate , polite, and respectful , and I was impressed in the way the workmen tidied up before they left for the night , this level of consideration was shown throughout the whole refit. Consideration was also given to the communal areas of the building which were left spotlessly clean. This company is completely dedicated to customer service, as are their staff, it would be very difficult to find a more professional company & a better team than Hellmanis & Howell, and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who wants the job done professionally from start to finish. We had our bathroom remodelled by Helmanis and Howell. The purchasing phase that took place over several weeks was extremely smooth thanks to David Howell's patient, understanding and careful approach. Sound advice without any sales pressure. The installation over a two and a half week period went exactly to plan with surprisingly little mess. Every day dust sheets were laid at the beginning of the day and removed at the end before the team vacuumed up! The external tradesmen employed were highly skilful and to be recommended. The Helmanis and Howell fitting team were outstanding. Steve's plumbing gave a highly professional look. Craig's outstanding hard work ensured everything ran to time. Jordan is a true asset, his knowledge, competence and attention to detail linked with his outstanding "can do" attitude was truly reassuring. Our trust in him grew from strength to strength from the initial survey and throughout the installation. A great family run company who look after their customers old and new. I have used this company for 30 years now and they have just completed my new bathroom. The old bathroom was installed by them over 17 years ago. They employ their own team of tradesmen who install to a very high standard and respect your home whilst doing so. They have also replaced two gas fires and installed a fireplace. Each job has been done professionally with attention to detail and total customer satisfaction. I have no hesitation recommending this firm - they may not be the cheapest but you pay for what you get -quality goods and professional attentive installation from start to finish. THANK YOU!!!!!

We needed an accessibility bathroom fitted quickly due to the illness of a family member. We went to H&H due to their reliable reputation. David designed a beautiful bathroom for us, with input from us on tiles and colours, it looked amazing. Literally the only thing we had to do was to strip off wallpaper we had on one wall. The guys came in, stripped out our old bathroom, had everything taken away for us, fitted the new one, cleaned up after themselves, it was such a stress-free, hassle-free experience. It was done in 4 days and when we realised that we needed a different kind of shower door, they came out and changed it for us as soon as they could. We were so happy and impressed with their work we’ve since consulted them with other problems we’ve had around the house. I highly recommend them.
