Reviews

4.8

Home Energy Group Ltd handles solar PV, battery storage and EV charger work, and customers often describe clear explanations of how panels, batteries and tariffs fit together, with polite and tidy installers. One reviewer had a wrong inverter corrected and broken roof tiles repaired but was still waiting for an Electrical Safety Certificate over three weeks after installation; they took a month to get it after chasing the electrician themselves, and their formal complaint drew no further contact. Another customer tried twice for a quote and was promised a call back both times but never heard back. A later battery installation was extended to three days when parts were unavailable, though the engineers kept the customer informed and everything finished well. Many customers say documentation, portal access and post-install queries were handled well, and several praise the firm for sorting battery problems left by other installers.

Numerous issues, where do I start. Still waiting over three weeks for the Electrical Safety Certificate after our solar battery system installation, despite repeated promises. Installation began on 6 July. On 7 July I emailed to report that the wrong inverter had been fitted (5KW instead of 6KW), this was fixed at a later date. Scaffolding was erected on 4 July and caused ongoing problems: a loose, noisy gate overnight affecting sleep, repeated noise from the back gate, and later the front scaffold making new noises while resting on a solar panel. I first enquired to scaffolding removal on the 9 July. It was then scheduled for removal on 10 July but remained in place. On 15 July I reported the continuing noise, the scaffold sitting on a panel, and two broken roof tiles I found with a camera drone while inspecting the new panels (I took before and after photos of roof). Scaffolders were promised again that day, no show, then told the next morning, I also raised safety concerns. Scaffolding was finally removed and the two tiles repaired on 16 July. We paid the invoice the same day. Communication throughout involved multiple delays and unfulfilled promises. Callbacks that were offered were not made on time. On 13 July an apology was sent for a missed call, with an assurance it would be chased. Questions about warranties (including extended warranty on the mounting rails) and certificates required repeated follow-ups. On 17 July a call was held to discuss warranties and outstanding certificates. On 18–19 July emails confirmed DNO and MPAN were in process and sought clarification on the rail warranty. Further chasing emails on 23 about lack of access to the portal and warranty with no response. 25 July I made an official complaint about the poor experience I have had so far listing previous issues and outstanding issues. On 27 July I received and apology, portal access was provided and promise of all paperwork by end of day. Some certificates were received including MCS certificate, but the Electrical Safety Certificate was still missing. I was told it would be chased. On 28 July further emails and more apologies, I asked them to confirm my complaint has been logged in accordance with their complaint procedure, no answer. 29 July they confirmed that an extended rail warranty was no longer available (T&Cs to be updated). Today 30 July trying to download documents the portal stopped working with an error stating the bill had not been paid I was told the portal issue would be looked into and the Electrical Safety Certificate would be chased (portal now working again). I have also asked again for confirmation that my complaint has been logged. I have kept a full written record of dates, emails, calls and incidents. Most installation issues have now been resolved, but the outstanding Electrical Safety Certificate remain after more than three weeks. I recognise some early issues where not there fault however the process of dealing with them has been hard work and communication poor. Apologies are quick and answers are slow. **UPDATE – 1 week later (7 August 2026)** Still no Electrical Safety Certificate more than a month after installation and almost two weeks after my formal complaint. In their Google review reply the company said the delay was because they could not contact the electrician. After reading that, I tracked the electrician down myself and spoke to him. He has now promised to resend or re-issue it within a few days and I have asked him to copy me in. Although they have confirmed last week that my complaint was logged on the same day it was received, I have had no further communication from them at all. I only discovered their online reply when I came back to update this review. I acknowledge that they have plenty of good reviews — I read them before choosing Home Energy Group and they were a deciding factor. Mine is currently the only 1-star review. Take from my experience what you will. **UPDATE (7 August 2026) Received Electrical Safety Certificate Same day after calling electrician myself.

They are clearly a quality business. I found the prices to be reasonable. They are easy to contact on the phone as well. We don't get that much these days! The engineer turned up on the planned day. He was really good and clearly cared about his work. All work completed quickly and to a good standard. I would fully recommend them.

We had Solar PV panels and a Hanchu battery storage system installed by Home Energy Group, and we are really pleased with the result. The team explained how the solar panels and battery work together, including how excess solar energy can be stored for use later in the day. The whole process was well organised, from the quote to the installation. The team were friendly, knowledgeable and professional throughout. We would definitely recommend Home Energy Group to anyone looking at solar and battery storage.

Home Energy Group installed a Hanchu battery storage system for us, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The team explained how the battery could help us store energy and make better use of cheaper off-peak tariffs where available. The installation was completed neatly and professionally, and everything was explained clearly before handover. We were really happy with the advice, the quality of the work and the support provided by Home Energy Group.
