I am very pleased my son recommended Cambridge Solar. Everyone I dealt with was professional pleasant and helpful. The equipment has been neatly fitted and everything left in a clean tidy state. Very happy with the result.

Cambridge Solar were thorough and professional from start to finish. All activities were satred and completed on schedules and the standard of the installation was excellent. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Engaged staff and happy with the spec and quote provided, and the individual who came to survey the house. Hugely disappointed to learn they went into administration in December 2024 so no longer confident giving them the deposit monies, and having to look elsewhere now :-(

Unpleasant experiences

The installation was in 2 phases; first was the solar array and wiring of inverter and household connections. This took place on the agreed day, work was extremely high quality and has worked faultlessly since (about 2 months). The second stage, installation of the Powerwall was held up by about 2 months due to supply issues from the USA. This work was also of impeccable quality and the technicians very helpful in giving advice regarding accessing the (very complex) system through the (very intuitive)Tesla App. This last stage was completed about a week ago, and we are still learning the intricacies and cleverness of the software, supplying domestic power and charging the car. We have used virtually no power from the grid during daytime hours, and about 80% independent overall (currently). The system was on budget, and only delayed by the supply issue from the USA; our only (very small criticism) was that communications regarding final installation date could have been a bit better. But overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

We have just had a 10-panel solar PV system and EV charger installed by Cambridge Solar. They did an excellent job from start to finish, including designing the system to make best use of our roof space, installing the panels and associated electrical equipment and commissioning the system. We found their staff were very professional, carried out a high standard job and worked hard to meet the deadline. Their project management team kept in contact with us and answered any questions we had. We felt quite confident throughout the whole installation process. We are very happy with the outcome and would recommend Cambridge Solar to anyone who wants a high-quality solar system installed.

Cambridge Solar completed our installation 1 year ago, they were very professional from start to finish during the installation and I can confirm after the first 12 months the system has more than delivered what was promised.

Despite being a novice at solar power, Cambridge Solar provided me with extremely useful advice and ensured we got a system that works extremely well. They were quick to respond and kept in touch despite there being considerable supplier delays. I would certainly recommend them especially if your needs are in any way more than just installing PV panels.

Our solar panels were installed 10 years ago by Owen and his team. From the start they stood out in terms of a genuine interest in serving our needs, and in terms of knowledge and expertise. 10 years on our panels have produced significantly more than the official expectation for our area - outstanding from the beginning to the end.

First contacted the company the company and started filling in self survey forms in October and recieved a quote just before christmas. Followed up with some questions regarding the quote the first week of January after trying to calling the contact number on the quote but there was no answer. Still not had a response despite trying to call and sending a chase up email.

Paid full deposit and then stone wall silence for two months. No sign of a fitting date or answer to calls and queries. Starting to wonder if we've lost our deposit. We've just had a baby aswell so chasing them is unecessary stress, we could really do without. We have other tradesman in the house doing other things and they're worried for us! Our only other option is to start legal proceedings if we don't hear anything. It's really worrying.

Further to my review 3 months ago (comes up as google user) I would really like to commend Cambridge Solar for their help in completing my project. I appreciate that there have been some issues but they have really changed approach and have been brilliant, and communicative. Now I would not hesitate to recommend them, so give them a call.

Wanted to follow up from an earlier quote and emailed the company a couple of times, but without any response.

Cambridge Solar installed solar panels and a battery system. From first contact to project completion it was a stress free experience with all queries dealt with promptly and professionally. Good communication throughout Installation completed efficiently with no inconvenience. All technicians and tradesmen were polite, tidy and knowledgeable. A Handover meeting on completion was a nice surprise arranged to ensure we were entirely happy with everything and answer any queries. We can thoroughly recommend Cambridge-Solar.

Thank you for all the team for getting our Solar PV system and battery running. Now generating the 6KW in the June sun! There is quite a team from Cambridge Solar involved from designing, site inspections, MPAN applications, scaffolding, installers and electricians. Clearly it is a busy time for the solar industry but great to have the Cambridge Solar team pulling together. Happy with the installation - it was a challenge for the panel installers for the uneven roof and a briliiant neat install from the electricians. Great to be doing our bit for a greener world!

I have contacted Cambridge Solar on the 19th of May asking for a quote. On their website they state that they are a bit busy at the moment but they offer self assessment option to speed things up and promise that they will definitely get in touch.I was sent back some links to self assessment forms. I have spent a lot of time taking photos and providing relevant information to complete both forms as requested. I waited but unfortunately I had no reply. I have followed it up with an email on the 10th of June asking for an update. I had no reply whatsoever not even a quick email explaining the reason for the delay. Waste of time in my opinion.

This company has proved to be a complete waste of time. I first contacted CS on 17th January. I was immediately sent a survey and retuned this on 18th January. On the 18th March I received a personalised quote from Connor P. This was full of mistakes and misleading information. The first problem was that the prices are only valid for 30 days and the quote was dated 11th February, so it was already out of date. When I replied to this, I was sent a hastily edited quote with new dates and some of the mistakes removed. Following this I endured a month of appointments missed, phone calls never returned, and emails rarely replied to. Every time I have tried to phone the very polite lady who answers the phones said she is unable to connect me with anyone. She always promised to get someone to call me back, however I have never had a single call returned. I did receive two emails on 14th April. The first one apologising for the lack of communication with the excuse “I was told that someone would have gotten back to you”. The second email answered many of my questions. Unfortunately, this was the last communication that I received from Cambridge Solar as my subsequent email and phone calls have been ignored Eventually I’ve been forced to give up with this company. It is impossible to do business with a company that doesn’t respond to any communication.

Asked for a quote. Spent a significant amount of time completing their initial consultation form and site survey. Several weeks later and I haven't heard anything - not even a "sorry, we're too busy to reply". Update: After writing this (previously 1*) review on google, they fast tracked my quote. It came back within the timeframe they stated (which is great!) but the panels would take a long time to fit and the price was a lot more than other places who are also able to do it sooner, but offer similar levels or guarantee and come highly recommended. I have amended my review as requested for fairness as I appreciate that it is extremely busy right now.

We are very pleased with our new installation, everything is as promised and to a high standard. Particularly happy with the different technicians who worked on our house, all very helpful and courteous. From start to finish this has been a first class experience. I'd been putting off getting solar for a long time and now I really wish I hadn't! The whole team at Cambridge Solar were very responsive and creative with how to get the best out of the design and provided guidance every step of the way. I received excellent service from the company as they took down, and subsequently reinstated my panels, for roof work to be done. The three main fitters - Ka**lo, Ro**n, and Ja**s - were a pleasure to have around, and their attention to detail was excellent. Everything cleaned, checked and replaced if necessary, care was taken, and clear explanations were given, as to what they were doing and why. They inspired confidence. I have one niggle — communication from the company to me, as to when they were coming was somewhat erratic. The fitters sometimes arrived with no warning! Just as well I was in! However, I was in, and I wanted them to do the work, so no hard feelings.

My PV installation developed an unusual fault. Although Cambridge Solar were not the original installers they came promptly and on time to investigate. The fault was quickly diagnosed and a replacement part ordered and installed a week later. Knowledgeable, Efficient, Prompt, Courteous - Cambridge Solar tick all the boxes.

Francois was top notch. We have a set of panels we bought with the house so we were after a health check and general info. Great service, feel really good about it. 10/10

We had a leak under the solar panels during the storms in early October (these panels were of the in-roof variety and had been installed 4 years prior to our buying the house). As soon as I contacted them, they organised for someone to come and have a look. The problem was caused by a build up of debris from gutters above the panels. Laslo and Robert dealt with this very quickly and suggested ways that would prevent this from happening in the future. In the end, we decided to change the panels to on-roof, which Cambridge Solar dealt with very professionally. All through the work, they were very friendly, considerate and helpful (Laslo and Shandor this time - they were even working in the rain!). I cannot fault them on anything, and if we ever have any problems again, I shan't hesitate to contact them. Top job!

Director of Cambridge Solar Ben Robinson has superb knowledge and made a kind, patient, ongoing investment in advising me about my options over many months without payment or guarantee of work. The company genuinely care about the importance of their industry, and respect standards of service and workmanship; the long-standing loyal workers (some with the company for as long as ten years) were attentive and responsive to any questions or concerns during the job. Patient, detailed, careful work.

We have recently had solar panels installed by Cambridge Solar. All members of an excellent team of workers were polite, considerate, hard-working and good-humoured. Even when things were not going to plan I was kept informed about possible options, in particular, the position of the inverter etc was clearly discussed with pros and cons according to various ideas. During the commissioning stage the electrician explained the various components, all a bit daunting, but this has been followed up with supporting paperwork. A small optional item was finally deemed unnecessary and a refund was efficiently arranged. An excellent company to deal with in every way.

I would highly recommend this company. We recently had a query about our solar panels which had been installed by another company that no longer existed. Cambridge solar went to great pains to answer my query and double check via another call that I was satisfied with their help. They gave me excellent advice.

Cambridge Solar installed our 3.9kWp system along with a 4.8kWh modular battery system, Solar Edge smart immersion controller and Solar Edge advanced consumption monitoring. Every aspect of dealing with Cambridge Solar has been excellent from quoting, installing and commissioning. All work was well explained and carried out in a friendly, efficient manner. All work was completed in 3 days. We have now been running the system for nearly 2 months and it has way exceeded my expectations! I especially love the Solar Edge monitoring App that allows us to see exactly where and when energy is being generated and used or fed back to the grid. I can thoroughly recommend Cambridge Solar.

Cambridge-Solar have just successfully completed an installation on our home during exceptionally hot conditions. After an informative initial survey where we discussed a number of options, they supplied a comprehensive proposal. Once we’d confirmed the final specification they promptly arranged the installation which was completed on the agreed dates and with experienced and friendly staff. I’m pleased to commend them to anyone considering a PV installation.

Initially I had my iBoost connected to the upper immersion element to heat my hot water cylinder with solar. However after a week following my pv solar installation, I preferred the iBoost to be connected to the lower immersion element instead of the upper one so that 2/3 of the hot water cylinder would be heated by solar. My request was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Thank you Owen and all your team for a job well done. I am glad I chose Cambridge Solar Ltd as recommended by my neighbour. Cambridge Solar are customer-service focused company. As other reviews state, they have a great ability to listen to your requirements, and deliver solutions with a completely "no-pressure" approach. The entire team are professional and helpful at all times. We were really impressed with how tidy and clean they kept wherever they were working (we had a lot of equipment to install). The team are flexible and friendly, and the quality of the electrical workmanship and attention to detail was exemplary. Definitely a team who know their trade and have a passion for their work. Their after-sale service is also fantastic.

Highly recommended, no pressure survey with lots of advice. A number of different options were presented with a full broken down cost for each activity. Installation team arrived on time, completed on time with no issues. Workmen were very professional, knew what they were talking about and left a very neat job. No mess left, inside was sheeted up and cleared away at the end. All questions answered at the end along with a demo of what did what. During commissioning assistance was given with completing the FIT forms. Owen and his team are highly recommended.

Really smooth experience. I chose Cambridge Solar because those guys seemed to know what they were talking about and not just a bunch of sales guys trying to flog their products. They listened, explained and advised, and were perfectly to provide data to justify their statements. At no stage, whether pre-sales or during the installation did I regret my choice. As others have stated, the after-sales support is amazing. We did have a couple of snags during the installation, and Owen and his team were always available to quickly come and set things right. Tricky installation with difficult roof access but managed the neighbours the subcontractors and showed great problem solving. They worked hard and I would highly recommend then for service and their knowledge.

The installation went well, and the pre-sales service was great. But the things that make the difference are after-sales service. After a little while in the roof, it became cleat that one of the panels needed re-siting. Owen came and did that with no quibbling.

Owen and the team were excellent from the start. Maybe not the cheapest but all high quality components, great communication, design assistance as the panels were neing installed on my detached double garage, installation and instructions on completion. Owen even did all the FIT form filling in for me! I cannot fault Cambridge Solar Ltd and will definately use them again when i save enough for more panels on my house roof!

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Cambridge Solar as a company to install your domestic solar panels. Owen and his team stepped in last Dec 2015 when we were let down by another company and rushed through our 3.5kw installation and iBoost on our boiler so as to beat the tariff deadline. The panels have overachieved what was estimated and we hope to now recover our investment between 4/5yrs! Brilliant customer service. Couldn't be more satisfied.

I am based in France and asked Cambridge Solar Limited for advice on a current system which has not been installed correctly and the company has gone into liquidation. Cambridge Solar Ltd digested all the information I sent them and gave me great professional advice. This was despite the fact that they were never able to get any business from me but were prepared to spend their time explaining the options including costs for the reinstall and recommended different solutions with cost advantages and disadvantages. If you find a company like this in any sector I reckon they are highly professional and ethical and can be trusted KK Bolam

Have just had 14 Solar Panels installed by Cambridge Solar, complete with immersion heater controller. I can also monitor how much energy is generated via a handy app on my iPhone. I found the service from start to end excellent. They did a great job at talking through the different options, no hard sell and once I decided to proceed the installation was done quickly and with minimal hassle in a professional manner by all those involved. We have just had a solar PV system fitted by Cambridge Solar & have been impressed by everybody who worked on it, from Owen, who designed the system, to the 3 teams of installers and Damon, who was the EPC assessor. Very satisfied customer. From Owen's first visit to assisting completing Feed In Tariff forms, the Cambridge Solar team were unfailingly professional and incredibly helpful. The quote I received was competitively priced and the system recommended was appropriate to my needs. More expensive options and upgrades were available but, while the potential advantages of these were explained, there was absolutely no pressure to take these, unlike some others that I had received quotes from. The installation went smoothly, and everything was tidily installed where I wanted it, and cabling run very discretely (not visible externally), and exceeded my expectations. I have been extremely impressed by Cambridge Solar. I am actually in the PV industry myself (but something specialised call BIPV and nothing to do with residential) so I was always going to be a relatively knowledgeable customer. Cambridge Solar impressed in many ways. First they were the only among 4 local(ish) suppliers who surveyed that actually got up onto my (flat) roof to establish the specifics including exact area available (which turned out to limit me to 3Kw). The others just looked at the roof from the ground and guessed essentially. The price from Cambridge Solar was very competitive but in no way has this meant ""low quality""...In fact I know I have good quality panels and an expertly installed system. Because it was the holidays for Owens team, and because I was constrained to a certain few days, Owen ended up being involved in the installation himself. Owen and team even identified and replaced several broken tiles while on my roof - at no cost, as well as a repair to my guttering......that's beyond the call of duty and certainly indicative of the genuine attention/spirit of customer care that most companies claim - but few actually deliver I suspect. I could go on....but basically I rate these guys at 6 out of 5. They were recommended to me by a neighbour and I have already recommended Cambridge Solar to 3 other neighbours/friends in Cambridge who have become interested after finding out I was getting residential PV. It was re-assuring to see the meter, and specifically that even at 5pm with a darkish overcast cloud cover I was still generating useful amounts of power. I wish Cambridge Solar the best and have enjoyed the experience of having them work on our house.

I have a house with non-ideal East/West-facing roofs and I wanted a system split between the roofs. Owen was very helpful when fielding technical and regulatory questions during the design and evaluation phase and Cambridge Solar eventually installed a 3.68 kWp system comprising twin 8 Phono Solar panel arrays with a Fronius inverter. I found Owen to be technically knowledgeable and helpful during the evaluation process. Their installation team went about their work efficiently and with a smile, completing the installation in 3 days and the system appears to be running well. I think they are a safe pair of hands if you are considering a foray into solar energy.

I have just, April 2015, had an array of 12 LG panels installed by Cambridge Solar. It is a 3.6kWp system with Solaredge invertor and the iBoost system to heat the water. What a wonderful experience throughout; from the initial visit by Owen, planning out to installation and hand over including the completion of the forms for the feed-in-tariff. I had researched the subject thoroughly and had a rough idea of what I wanted. Owen, who is extremely knowledgeable in the area of PV solar systems, shaped it into the final system and designed a very neat and nice looking package for a reasonable price. Very professional team of installers installed the whole system in 2 days. In the first day we’ve generated 25kWh, some of which was used to give us hot water for the whole day. The system is actually performing better than some of 4kWp system I saw previously. It was a great pleasure to do the business with Cambridge Solar! Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to dip his or her toes into the clean solar electricity!

Loving my panels. It was installed in 2012 and the system has been generating very well so far. They are proving to be a good return investment. Its great knowing we are not using any electricity! The install team were frienly and professional. Great service :-)

It was clear from the outset that Owen Morgan runs an excellent business installing pv solar systems. An onsite visit was arranged very shortly after the initial contact and everything was explained in clear technical detail and with great enthusiasm. Unlike other companies there was no hint of pressurised selling, just straightforward facts. The installation was carried out quickly and expertly and I was struck by how well the team worked together and how tidy and efficient their work is. Owen showed me how to monitor the system via the internet and so far it has been working at optimum efficiency. I am now looking forward to my first payment from my energy provider.!! We had a problem with a PV system installed by a contractor no longer in business. The system was underperforming and the installers had previously told us there was nothing wrong. I contacted Cambridge Solar by email and Owen got back to me quickly by telephone to book a site visit. He turned up on time, found the fault and fixed it within an hour. He explained what he had done and showed us the impact on our inverter-generation meter. He charged us an entirely reasonable fee for a call out visit. It may be too early to say that we are now generating as we originally expected, but I am confident that Owen has fixed our faulty installation!
