I contacted Asquith Electrical and Sons LTD late Friday after discovering our electric shower isolator had effectively tried to turn itself into a heater. Despite dealing with other emergencies, they arranged to come out on Monday, which was more than reasonable given we weren’t existing customers. The electrician quickly identified the issue as a failed termination and fixed it properly — cutting back to clean copper and reterminating everything as it should have been done in the first place. No shortcuts, no guesswork. The job was completed efficiently, everything was left tidy, and at £80 the cost was more than reasonable. It’s refreshing to have work done properly without any drama — I’ll definitely be calling Asquith again as our the renovation of our Edwardian home continues.

Rang James the Electrician in the morning and within a couple of hours he was at our house the very same day. He resolved the problem within minutes and explained what the problem was. We received an absolutely outstanding service.

I have used James previously, so he was my first port of call when I had a possible electrical fault with a plug/plug socket, intermittently causing my fuse box to trip and washing machine to stop working. James attended to the call out quickly, arrived on time and made all the necessary checks. James also checked the function of my cooker ignition, to offer assurance and a resolution. I was very happy with the efficient local service and promptly booked James for some future works.

Contacted late on the Sunday and work completed by the following afternoon, replacing a shower. Two really pleasant fellows who made a fuss of our dog along the way too. Great price for the work completed. Couldn't be happier.

James and his colleague diagnosed the problem with kitchen electrics causing my elderly mother's newly installed boiler to keep tripping. They installed a new consumer unit replacing her old fuse box and ran a separate supply from this to the boiler. They identified two disconnected and redundant circuits with dead switches and blanked them off and tracked down a droning noise, which was driving her mad, to a clogged extractor fan which they fixed. She is very pleased with her reliable heating and drone-free house.

To be fair, I couldnt ask for more from Asquith. Friendly, competent and on time and excellent value for money. Can't recommend highly enough! Thank you so much for your help!

Couldn't of asked for a more humble and reliable electrician. Initially Asquith came down on the day of calling, as I was local to where he lived. After looking at what needed to be done, it was mutually agreed that it was going to be too big if a job for a Saturday. Date and time added promptly to the diaries on that Saturday. Had a text the day before making sure that the job had the all clear to still go ahead. Agreed the day before for the ETA, even though it was agreed beforehand. Asquith arrived right on time. Got straight on with the job. No mess left, will be recommending to others.

I contacted James to carry out an inspection on a house I'm currently buying that has no current safety certificates. He got back to me in less than a few hours and was able to fit me in the next day. He liaised directly with the estate agent for access and throughout his inspection sent me plenty of information on the issues that were coming up. Later on that day he went through these with me extensively over the phone so that we could assess the work needing doing and also what did not need doing. He is professional, polite and honest as well as very knowledgeable.

Dropped James an email to see if he could do a safety check on a house I'm in the process of buying. He responded really quickly and had the checks done a few days later. He even coordinated direct with the estate agents. His price was also competitive to the other electricians I contacted. I'll be contacting him for some followup work once we complete.

My power to my sockets went quite late in the evening. I rang James from Asquith Electrical and he was able to come out, but he guided me through some trouble shooting over the phone first to try and save me from having to pay for an emergency call out, which I really appreciated. When the issue couldn’t be solved over the phone he came straight out and sorted the problem efficiently, as well as explaining what he was doing as he went along and having a nice chat. Prices were very reasonable, especially for a late night call out, so he’s been back to do other work since, which was also completed to a high standard for a reasonable price. Highly recommended :)

I have used James Asquith twice now in close succession. He and his team carried out some complicated electrical upgrading that has allowed us to be pulled in to the 20th century. They are a very professional competent team and completed some fairly large complex but required rewiring, consumer box repairs and switch replacements with a safety certificate. They are an excellent crew, I have no need to find any other company to do electrical repairs or work. I rate the highly and wholeheartedly recommended them

James and co were really helpful. They came round to check out the situation the day I enquired. Once it was booked in he returned to address a number of issues which were diagnosed from a previous EICR report and explained throughly some poorly diagnosed faults from the previous report, which no doubt saved me a lot of money. Whilst working on the consumer unit I asked for a google nest thermostat to be fitted, this was done on top of the agreed work with no problem. Really happy with the service and quality of work, would absolutely recommend.

James fitted an outdoor electric plug socket. He arrived promptly on the day of work and did all he could to keep everything neat and tidy, and cleared up after himself. We have a few other jobs that we will be asking James to do again in a few weeks time. Would definitely recommend!!

We've just had our whole house re-wired. We were dreading it beforehand, but the boys carried out the job efficiently (only took them 6 days). Great service all round, James came round promptly to give us a quote and go over the work involved. He paid attention to detail and again promptly sent over the price for the work. We booked him straight away and he sent us messages the day before the work to go over anything he may need to supply to ensure everything was there as needed. On the day, he arrived 30 mins early, worked efficiently and neatly and took pains to ensure that there would be a neat and tidy finish. No corners were cut and James and his crew worked hard the whole time. At the end, all of our electrics worked, all the cables were tidied nicely and all rubbish neatly cleaned up. A recurring problem with the lights on our cooker hood has knocked out both the lights and all our sockets. This problem was very efficiently dealt with by a very polite and well mannered young man. Wouldn't use again, a job that needed a machine for quicker and better results not used, my job passed off to another electrician by him without even telling me, so I assumed the new guy worked for him, so wasted money for nothing, would never recommend using at all, totally unprofessional, also reports bad reviews hint don't want a bad review don't give bad service
