It is too soon yet to tell what the annual financial benefits will be, but the performance of all components has been great so far. Have waited until the end of month 1 to post this. I spoke to several companies before placing the order with Dave, with my ultimate decision based on the way the solution was designed to meet the less than perfect aspect that our property offers, whilst still providing a very good return on investment. The install crews were both polite and very efficient, despite some challenges with roof tiles & the whole job finished within 2 days. 22 panels have provided just over 1400 kWh with most of this user for domestic supply and car charging. Still waiting for Samrt Export set-up with Octopus, & expect that when this is in place summer months will give us net credit & in winter will cover the standing charge as a minimum. May add more batteries at some point & would not hesitate to recommend!

I recently approached David at D Cookman Electrical Ltd for the installation of solar panels and a battery system at my home, and I could not be happier with the service I received. From the very beginning, David was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. He visited my property to carry out a thorough assessment, answered all of my questions patiently, and provided different quotation options for both Tesla Powerwall and non Tesla battery systems, allowing me to choose the solution that best suited my needs and budget. I used Dave to fit my solar system (17 panels, battery and home backup power) and he did a brilliant job. Very disappointing experience overall. I had concerns about the competence of Dave and John. Dave and John were involved in handling my survey and based on my experience I felt like what i was being sold benefited them more than me. I was also surprised to discover that all the staff were contractors rather than permanent qualified employees. During the process, communication was not existent. Very hard to get hold of. Weeks and weeks of calls, only to feel ignored. I will be reporting this to MCS and HIES. I would strongly advise others to do their own due diligence before using this company. Regardless of his mefia and claims, John has no previous experience in solar.

Dave, Mihai and team installed in April 2026 a Tesla Powerwall 3, Tesla Expansion battery, Tesla Gateway, 27 Aiko solar panels with solar skirt, and a Hypervolt 3 Pro EV charger. Everything is working as it should with full export and Tesla's rebate secured. The installation was made more complicated because the first PW3 had a fault and had to be replaced, plus the usual delays and responsiveness of GTC, our iDNO. Overall, Mihai did an excellent installation and Dave was easily contactable when needed. A professional team, and an excellent installation. Highly recommended. Phil & Niki

I was extremely pleased with the installation and performance of my solar system. Dave and his team came in and set up everything up quickly and efficiently .I was even given a tutorial on how to use the mobile app which tells you everything. I had the Sigenergy inverter fitted with two batteries ,25 solar panels and a gateway system which allows me to always have electricity even when there's a power cut. Really impressed by my Roof Solar Panel installation by DCookman Electrical. The scaffolding went up the day before, the panels were installed within one day as well as most of the cabling work with final electrical commissioning the following day. The whole thing took just one and a half days (even with rain showers making things slower). Scaffolding was down by the afternoon. The onsite engineers were very professional and helpful, consulting me on how I wanted things arranged (e.g. cable runs) and answering all my questions. No hesitation in recommending this company !

Fantastic from start to finish: Came over to do an on-site survey (most companies only use online satellite photos), discussed what was possible and listened to what we required. Made sensible suggestions. No pushy salespeople with little knowledge - someone that actually knew what he was talking about and who was up to date with current specifications. Sorted the scaffolding he needed plus some more that we needed for our roofer. Installation was very efficient. All the engineers were polite and friendly (including Dave). Everything was carried out as agreed and within the time expected. Very happy with our very neat solar, battery and EV charger installation. We did our research and chose Dave and the team to fit our PV system early in September 2025. This was done quickly and efficiently, the whole team are friendly, experienced guys who really know what they are doing. We really can’t recommend him enough, he explained everything we needed, was fitted on the day he said, 2 days fitting and we were up and running. 21 south facing panels and two batteries run our car, house and cottage. Dave's installation crew (and the scaffolders) did a great job - quick, efficient and clean - they installed a 16 panel system along with battery storage and a 9kW inverter, making a neat job of the external wiring too. Review of DCookman Electrical – Solar Panel & Battery Storage Services I’m extremely disappointed with my experience dealing with DCookman Electrical, a local solar panel and battery storage company based in Dunstable, owned by Mr David Cookman. Earlier this year, I requested a quote for a solar panel and battery storage system. Mr Cookman provided the quote and we arranged an initial site visit for the end of July. Unfortunately, he cancelled the appointment at the last minute on the day itself, which was inconvenient but I remained patient and attempted to reschedule. Despite an attempt to follow up, I received no communication from him for weeks. Eventually, I managed to get back in touch and we agreed on a new appointment date. Regrettably, Mr Cookman failed to show up again—without any notice, explanation, or follow-up. This second no-show, especially after the previous cancellation and lack of contact, reflects a serious lack of professionalism and reliability. As a local resident, I expected better service from a nearby business. The repeated cancellations and complete disregard for my time have left me questioning the authenticity of the positive reviews this company appears to have online. Based on my experience, I would not recommend DCookman Electrical or Mr David Cookman for any solar or electrical work. It’s a shame I can’t give zero stars.

Dave is a really nice guy and very knowledgeable about solar systems making him a pleasure to deal with. The installers used were great - knowledgable, nice, and respectful, making the whole experience better than expected. I honestly can't rate D Cookman highly enough especially when there are so many horrible companies pushing their products on people out there, relying on their lack of understanding. Very pleased with the professional way everything was handled.

I contacted D Cookman Electrical along with many other solar and home storage providers and after much deliberation we chose D Cookman Electrical to install a 7.1kWp solar array and 16kWh home storage solution. Throughout the process Dave was extremely helpful in providing advice and tweaking the products to suit our requirements. Dave applied for our G99 from our DNO and it was recieved in approx 6 weeks with installation 1 week later. Scaffolding was installed the day before installation and the installation team arrived at 07:00 on the installation day and were completed by 17:00 the same day. Scaffolding was also removed. Great service and would happily recommend to others.

We had a 23-panel solar system with battery storage installed by David’s team in early June, and the experience has been great from start to finish. The proposal we received was over 25% cheaper than a quote from Octopus for a system with twice the generating capacity. Despite the lower price, the quality and service have been excellent. From our first interaction, David came across as personable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. His professionalism gave me the confidence to proceed without seeking further quotes. That said, I was cautious given I found his company via Facebook, so I conducted thorough due diligence - checking Companies House records and carefully reviewing all HIES and DNO documentation. Everything was in perfect order and had been handled promptly. The installation process was trouble free. The scaffolding team arrived exactly as scheduled, followed by the install crew at 7:00am the next day. They completed the entire job within the day, working efficiently and leaving everything neat and tidy. We were even allowed to keep the scaffolding up a little longer to carry out some guttering work ourselves at no extra cost. Once we notified them the work was done, it was removed within 24 hours. Since then up to 17th September, we’ve been completely self-sufficient in electricity and have already accumulated nearly £600 in credit with E.ON Next through the feed-in tariff. Compared to the original proposal and forecast, the system is significantly outperforming expectations, and we anticipate repaying our investment earlier than planned. (It has been a good summer though!) In conclusion, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending David and his team to anyone considering investing in solar panels and battery storage. Their professionalism, transparency, and quality of work are first rate.

Our solar panels stopped generating power, after receiving a few quotes, some extremely pricey, we decided to go with David. A professional yet friendly approach. Dave and his team installed a 5.12kW flat roof solar array for me, complete with battery storage and a 6kW inverter. The service and support throughout the entire project were outstanding, and the aftercare has been just as impressive. Dave personally conducted the initial survey and provided the first quote. After a bit of back-and-forth, we quickly agreed on the final details. From there, Dave and his team handled all the paperwork, ordered the scaffolding, and completed the installation in a single day. I had a special request for an additional data cable to integrate with Home Assistant, and Dave was more than happy to accommodate. Communication was excellent both before and after the installation. When I needed additional documentation for my export tariff application, Dave provided it the very same afternoon. Since the initial install, I’ve also used Dave’s team to expand my battery storage. Again, the process was smooth and professional — the additional modules were delivered and installed without any hassle. When a new firmware update became available, I emailed Dave, and he remotely initiated the upgrade that very same day. Overall, I highly recommend Dave for any solar array installation. From start to finish — and even long after — the service has been truly top-notch.

I found reviews for Dave Cookman in various places and had been looking to buy and install solar panels, inverter and battery for a couple of years. He quickly responded to my enquiry, visited and issued a quote within a few days. No hard sell and very transparent and helpful. The quote was very competitive and within a couple of weeks of saying yes my solar panels and equipment were installed quickly, efficiently and professionally. Happy to give a 5 star rating for quality, service and value for money.

I became interested in solar panels for our new home and checked around a few contractors after doing some research. I secured 4 quotes based on recommended by friends, colleagues and from ads on social media. I called Dave, explained we were moving, the location and roof size etc.. We spoke a few times and Dave was able to answer all my questions without being pushy. Later Dave came round and carried out a site visit, he provided me with a couple of options, all of which were at very reasonable prices. Still unsure and with more questions I called back and settled on 28 panel array, with Tesla Powerwall 3. Not a cheap option but, well worth the outlay, and significantly less than quoted by others. We were chuffed! Once the paper work was completed, Dave called to say the scaffolding would be put up within in 2-days, it was. He said the work would be done in 1-day, it was. He said the scaffolding would be down the next day, and it was. Dave and his small army of a team were respectful of our property, tidy and professional throughout, they also loved my dog, its a wonder how they got any work done as they spend a lot of time playing with him in the garden!! The reason that we placed the order with David Cookman initially was because the other companies sent sales people who were only interested in selling their products. As a trained electrician, David talked about the pros of the system, rather than just simply wanting the ‘sale’. Everything was seamless and when there were minor issues, they were immediately dealt with. **UPDATE** END OF APRIL (2024) I didn’t realise the importance of using a quality local installer until you need after sales support. Solar, Batteries, Inverters and API integration, are complex components, which through no-fault of any one can and do have issues, also communication with equipment suppliers GivEnergy for support and advice, of course they can only do so much from the end of a phone and will nearly always refer you back to your installer; this is where, in my opinion going local has benefits for response times. If there was another ⭐️ to add to the review I would add it, honestly, the best service……. Just had our solar, iboost & battery system installed by David and his team; it was a two day install on a complex roof with dormer flat roofs, small tiled areas plus a ground 4 panel install, with the battery and inverter externally fitted. Day one was an early, 7 am start. Unfortunately it rained all day till late afternoon and it was cold! it didn't deter the team of 6 guy's from working till 6pm! Day 2 was much better weather wise and they were able to crack on working virtually non stop. Nothing was too much trouble, ensuring that everything was delivered as per the quote and our pre install discussions. David sent through all the required paper work for supplier change of tariff the same day. He ensured that there is an open communication pathway, for us to ask questions about getting used to the system, correct use of Givenergy app, battery charge and discharge, iboost usage etc. All the team were polite, friendly and professional. Really happy so far, great service, quick install, competitive price and a local company ( this was important to us) I would recommend using David, now bring on the sunshine!

I chose Cookman Electrical to install my solar panels (16) plus nverter and battery following doing some research and having had several other quotes. I found Dave to be straightforward, he didn't try and baffle me with tech talk, listened to what I wanted and came up with a competitive price. The installation process was straightforward and his crew were great. The installation took a day, the site was left clean and tidy and Dave gave me a full demonstration of the equipment. I chose the Givenergy system so I could take advantage of Octopus Flux with which it is currently the only system compatible. I have not looked back since. Dave dealt with all the paperwork regarding permissions from the National Grid which was something else not to worry about. The workmanship is insurance backed and I would have no hesitation in recommending Cookman Electrical.

I contacted Dave after seeing him on Facebook. I wanted solar panels and battery storage...and that was the extent of my knowledge. He came round, we discussed options (separating my batteries from my EV, power cut switch-over, etc.), I got a detailed quote shortly after and, after accepting, everything progressed smoothly. His installation team completed all the work in one day, even though the weather was foul that day, and everything works perfectly. I had to contact Dave once to sort out the export process but, again, that was quick and efficient. I'm happy to recommend his services. We're very happy with it setup and HUGE reduction in electricity costs. It was cheap in winter. Now it's Spring I'm being paid.

I started thinking about solar panels last year, which is when I came across D Cookman Electrical on Facebook. His reviews were excellent, and he was quick to respond to any questions people were asking. Over the next few months, my Facebook feed was full of companies offering solar installations, but feedback was never as good as D Cookman Electrical. Customer reviews were the driving factor in me contacting D Cookman Electrical for a quote this February 2025. Dave is local to me, and he came out, compiled a couple of choices, and I settled on one of them; 13.5kW system with a 10.36kWh battery. Installation took place shortly after. Every member of Dave’s team was polite, professional, respectful of my property, and cleaned up after themselves. The scaffolding went up on the Saturday, the solar team arrived 7am Monday, finished Wednesday afternoon, and the scaffolding was removed on the Thursday. I couldn’t be happier with the job they all did and would highly recommend D Cookman Electrical. This solar malarkey is a bit of a learning curve, so in hindsight I wished I’d asked Dave to set up the basic charge/discharge settings in the app before he left so I didn’t have to keep emailing him questions. He’s very quick to answer emails, but it would have taken up less of his time. I’m now addicted to the FoxEss solar app, and am looking forward to seeing what generation we get on a sunny day. There’s also a very useful Facebook group for FoxEss solar, which has some great tips.

I had been looking for a solar sollution for a while but was struggling to find someone honest....most just want to bulls**t you with over inflated returns and costs. Up popped Dave on a Facebook advert who looked genuine. Being a man in a trade myself, i wanted someone to turn up in site work atire and dirt on his hands to give me good honest advice.... not a suited salesman who isn't intrested in the work, just the sale. I contacted Dave via the advert and he visited a few days after. Dave was the tradesman that i was after, honest, hard working and a genuinly nice lad. The quotation followed a day or 2 later and was below what i had been previously quoted. Installation was arranged on a date that suited me which worked well. Scaffold was erected a few days before the installation then Dave and his team arrived on the arranged day. Install from start to finish was superb, clean and efficient and was completed in less than a day. Scaffold was then removed a few days later. Handover was fairly simple and smart phone application added. I was on an old energy tarrif so once install was done , i changed to a better tarrif where i could make the most of the lower night rates with my battery storage. Tarrifs are confusing at the least but Dave was always good to chat and message at any time to assist me, not that this was in his remit. Bottom line is, if you're after a Solar sollution and are a little confused then Dave and his team are the guys to trust. Cheers Dave, pass on my regards to your lads.

Kitchen install/rework

I had thought of getting Solar panels and a battery system fitted, for quite some time. However, it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start. There’s a lot of conflicting information out there! Dave, from D Cookman Electrical, came up on a Facebook Ad, so being fairly local, I asked him to come and give me a quote. The specification and cost of the install was what I was looking for and Dave certainly knew what he was talking about. He also cares about how the overall ‘aesthetics’ will look, not simply sticking as many panels on the roof as you can. I wanted my system to look good, as well as save money on my electricity bill. It’s early days, but after 24 hours I am amazed at how much power I am able to produce. 25kWh, on what I had originally thought was a roof that wasn’t that suitable. The one negative point I’d like to raise, is that it’s very hard not to keep on looking at the phone app (at least 20 times a day), checking on how much power is being produced :) So to summarise. I would say to anybody that is thinking of having solar Installed, with or without batteries, definitely give Dave and his team a ring as I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I don't often leave reviews but having waded through the mire of getting lots of quotes and surveys for a solar + battery system, I was really pleased the end result from David's team. From start to finish the experience was really positive; David's technical knowledge is obvious and he suggested a couple of upgrades and optimisations to the system I was looking for. He was really responsive providing the quote, and arranging DNO approval. On the day of install the team did a great job with a clean install. The quote will be very comprehensive with lots of information. We had a chat and he left it for me to decide. No chasing up and no pushing to makeup my mind. He was happy to explain and answer as many questions I had to ensure that I was happy. Once I was happy pay the deposit which is also simple. On instalation day 4 fitters came. They immediately started work and did not waste any time. Each fitter is specialised in there own field. They completed all the work in one day. Tidy up the place and explained how to manage the system going forward. David will send you all the installation certification and 10 year guarantee. If you decide to export enery to the grid, then your service provider will do all the safety checks and make sure your company has been registered and necessary documents supplied. If you have any questions or concerns, David is available any time on WhatsApp/phone. In summary - no pressure selling, take your time to decide - reasonable quote - available to answer questions - good polite fitters - quality hardware - excellent after sales service - accredited installer Don't go for the cheapest quote. You need a reputable company as your installation is for next 20 years. I would reccomend this company to my friends and family.

On 19/4/2024 I engaged Dave Cookman Electrical via Check a Trade to install a 5kw solar system. All I can say is I was lucky to get him and his team. They were a very professional team. Knew their job. They were courteous, tidy and prompt. They never had an easy job with my roof. It being old clay tiles. i.e. if you lent on one it broke. That said all broken tiles were replaced. I approached Dave in October 2024 alongside 4 other solar panel installers. We went through an intensive "due diligence" process which Dave was incredibly patient and demonstrated immense knowledge. He designed a bespoke system and gave several options to meet our needs. We decided to go with Dave because of his knowledge, helpful approach and he really worked with us to be as competitive as possible. The 17.2kw system and 40 panels were installed over 3 days by Dave and up to 4 lads at anytime. They travelled 100 miles daily in near freezing temperature and worked very hard typically from 7am-4pm. Since installation Dave remains very responsive to queries and often enquires how things are going. We have recently passed 100 days since installation and it's working well. I measure the expected performance daily and so far we have achieved 78.42% versus expected the output. However, this is improving daily. In December we were operating at 60% expected output, January circa 70%, February 84% and March so far is 85%. In March the average expected return is 31.3KW per day and we have already achieved as high as 39KW. So my overall experience as a solar panel novice is that the lows are lower and highs, higher than perhaps I expected. It certainly feels it's on it's way to get to the levels claimed by the independent data prior purchase (which obviously Dave has no control of when quoting). So in summary, I am a very happy customer, Dave is a lovely and very experienced installer, cares passionately to do a great job and has remained on hand ever since. It was a major investment of £17,000 for us, but we are very happy it has made a real difference we expect to achieve a much faster return than perhaps we expected. Thank you Dave & Team.

These guys are awesome. Fast, Polite, Efficient and very tidy. I had a reasonably arge installation of 21 panels on three different roof sections, one of which was a flat roof. this was the crucial part for me as I'd been told by other installers that this was more of a commercial install so was not possible. Plus I had 20Kwh Battery storage installed as well. When I was contacted to say it would be done on the 8th Feb, I was under the assumption that this was going to be the start date. NO!! The whole installation was done in 9 hours!! As I said, this company are fast! Thee other impressive thing about D Cookman Electrical was the level of detail in the estimate. This wasn't just the price, but all the details about what we would be getting, estimation of power generation and most importantly estimation of cost saving and ROI. This is exactly the type of information I wanted and it was explained in such a way that I fully understood what was going to be possible. All in all... I would recommend this company to anyone! absolutely brilliant!!

For those of you thinking about having a solar array and battery fitted, I cannot recommend D Cookman Electrical highly enough. Right from the word go I knew that this was the correct decision by myself to give them the job of installing my solar panels and battery. From measuring up, to a personal meeting where we went through options and equipment he helped me throughout the complicated process of deciding which system to go for by addressing all my concerns and answering all my questions. An installation date was promptly booked and all necessary paperwork applied for and completed well in time for the install. On the day of the install a team consisting of no less than 5 vans arrived at 7am sharp and the work of installing 17 panels on three different roofs along with all associated electrical work, installation of a battery and installation of an ev charger was all completed by 4.30pm !! All work was completed to a very high standard of workmanship and the system was shown to be fully commissioned and working. Subsequently had a few queries and again these were addressed to a professional standard. The system is functioning exactly how I want it to. Dave is a very decent and polite individual and a true Gentleman in fact. I am more than happy. Thank you Dave.

Dave and his team sorted out our home battery install after a previous electrician left us with work half done. This made finding someone willing to pick up the job more difficult. We already have solar, solar redirect (hot water using an eddi) and a car charger (zappi). Combined with wanting some circuits to use the backup power feature of our inverter, during a power cut, it was a more complicated install than usual. Highly recommend D Cookman electrical. Dave is my go-to for my electrics with my properties. I know he's going to get the job done to a quality standard and reliability is definitely something I value in this trade! I first used his service back in 2019 when (I think) he was a one man band, im not surprised his company has grown to the success it has with his integrity and knowledge. I contacted 7 electricians for quotes when I first got my property and they all told me I needed to rewire the house I'd just bought, without even seeing the property, so I believed that was what was needed. Dave was the only one who said he needs to see the property before determining what is needed beyond the consumer box, which he could tell from the image, and on inspection said the house was safe and didnt need rewiring and saved me money up front...whilst becoming my long term reliable, honest electrician and that is how you grow a business!

Dave and his team installed our solar panels and batteries. Dave came out to inspect the roof when providing the quote and done a thorough check to ensure the quote provided was accurate to reflect the system I required. The team did a fantastic job in installing all the items as we had the panels spread over two flat roofs along with care taken in the installation of the whole system and the house left clean post installation. Clear instructions were provided on how to use the app on our mobile devices and instructions in the house on how to use the various elements installed (main switch, inverter etc). The install was done in one day and have had no problems since the install. Dave also provided our electrical certificate post installation of the solar panels and batteries. Dave’s aftercare is excellent and will always respond to questions on email or WhatsApp in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Dave’s company for solar panels, batteries, ev chargers (next on the list to do) and general electrical work.

Excellent service from Dave and his team. Installing Solar and batteries is notorious for having problems and getting back installers to correct problems is always a problem. I have increased my Solar installation and batteries several times, and every time I had faults, one time my whole system failed for six months Endless calls and emails before they would eventually return and correct the problem , Another time my batteries failed for three months. I begged them to come and get the problem fixed, in the end. I had to hire someone else to correct problem. so it is important to find someone who is local and to find a trustworthy reliable tradesmen. Dave Cookman is exemplary, he always responds to emails and text messages, His prices are competitive and I can’t praise his work enough. He has a team of six Electricians, so there is always someone who would respond if you have a problem. I would hundred percent recommend this company.

I've used D Cookman Electrical for two of my rental properties, once to fit a new consumer unit and other to deal with fire alarm maintenance and PAT testing. I have also used him to install CCTV at my own house. I recommended David for some work at my cricket club. On all 4 occasions, the work was carried out professionally and they cleaned up after them. Both times he, and his team, were professional and friendly Each time I had some non-standard requirements and he did them exactly. his team also cleaned up after themselves! I recommend him and his team, and will use them again.

If you need any solar work done (or anything electrical) Dave is the man to go to. Not only are his service and prices great his after care support is unbelievable, we've had a huge system installed by him (31 panels, battery the works) and while getting used to it's working we've been contacting him for support and advice a lot (too much to be honest) but he's always been on hand whenever we needed him. I cannot thank him and his team enough for their services and 100 percent recommend him!

Solar Panel with Battery & Inverter was install by Dave and his team . They worked very professionally and gave good advice. The quality of work was excellent and the work was done in the time frame given. The quality of work was very good and the place was left clean once the work was finished.

From start to finish Dave and his team were excellent. The arrived early in the morning added 16 panels & a battery and the system was up and running by 4pm. Fantastic job done by Dave. Growatt batteries fitted with AC coupler charter back in March. All running great. As newbie we had many questions and Dave advised us very patiently every time. 5 stars from us !!!

Earlier this month Dave and his guys installed battery storage in our loft linked to our pre existing solar PV. A very professional job completed in a little over 3 hours. He is clearly an expert electrician, friendly and quick to respond to any queries. We have used Dave several times now. He has connected and disconnected plug sockets for us. Installed a neon light fitting and altered the fitting of our pendant light. He is always on time, and very pleasant. His work is extremely professional and we will defiantly use him again.

David has been very professional and knowledgeable. Fitted all 11 lights with no issues and pricing has been reasonable. Definitely someone I would recommend and would re contact for other lightning issues.
