Customers praise the company for straightforward online booking and the efficient completion of routine services such as EPCs, EICRs, and air conditioning installations. However, numerous reviewers report severe scheduling issues, including unannounced late arrivals, cancelled appointments, and unhelpful office staff when chasing certificates or refunds. Concerns are also raised regarding inflated quotes for remedial electrical work and poor communication on larger or more complex projects.

I intended to have a residential air conditioning installation, and I got a chance to speak to their friendly staff in late June 2026. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The quotation (called “price estimate”) has lots of gaps with even the model numbers and capacities of the indoor units outstanding. I also struggle to communicate with them as the only way I can get a reply is to leave a google review like this one – which they will pretty quickly reach out to you and ask you to pull the review as a condition of actually getting a reply from them. My last query dated 7 July remains outstanding on today 20 July, despite I expressly requested them in my query to at least give me a time estimate on when they expect to get back to me if they cannot do so promptly. I haven’t received anything from them afterwards. Make no mistake I am sure they are a bunch of friendly folks who love their work. I also note that they have lots of good reviews on one-off ad hoc work like EPC certificates. But they are simply overstretched for more complicated projects. I am not sure I am confident enough to gamble with a substantial sum given the high cost of A/C installation, with a mere unsubstantiated hope that they will reply to me after weeks let alone actually carrying out the installation on time without issues.
Horrible service especially the lady who answered the phone. She was really not interested. I would not do business with them
I booked a new EPC and EICR as a package for a competitive price. I was able to book an appointment easily and there was lots of availability even just a few days in advance. The assessor was friendly enough although was a bit hesitant about answering my questions after the assessment. The EPC was sent over the same day, although I had to chase the EICR. There were some issues with my EPC in that some of the information about my apartment was incorrect. So, I would strongly recommend you to double check the documentation. However, they were pretty fast and accommodating at then rectifying the issues and providing an updated EPC based on the evidence I sent them.
We have had a really good experience with efficient home energy. We will definitely use their service again. I would highly recommend.
Happy to recommend this company. Their availability is impressive - easy to book on their website and phone calls are handled quickly. I’ve used them for domestic EICR
I had a fantastic experience with Efficient Home Energy! 🌟 The engineer was incredibly professional and punctual, which I truly appreciate. Their visit caused minimal disturbance, and I received the report on the very same day. ⚡ I highly recommend their services! 👍🏡
Efficient Home Energy Just completed a landlord EICR (Electrical Condition) inspection and certificate for our 2 bed flat in central London. Booked online easily, great communications regarding appointment, engineer called ahead and was most professional with his inspection. Report arrived a short while thereafter. The service and professionalism were hugely appreciated.
I recently had an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) carried out on one of my rental properties in London and I couldn't be happier with the service provided by Efficient Home Energy. From the moment he arrived, Ethem demonstrated a high level of professionalism, knowledge and attention to detail. Rather than rushing through the inspection he took the time to thoroughly investigate the electrical installation and get to the root cause of several issues that had been present within the property. As a landlord tenant safety is very important, so it was reassuring to see someone who genuinely cared about carrying out a comprehensive and accurate assessment. The EICR certificate was detailed, easy to understand and clearly highlighted all of the areas that required attention for me. Ethem took the time to explain each observation, the potential risks involved and the options available to rectify the issues. There was no pressure, no hidden surprises and complete transparency throughout the entire process. Following the inspection after reviewing the findings, I decided to proceed with Ethem for the installation of a new consumer unit (fuse box). His recommendations were practical, honest and focused on ensuring the property met current safety standards. The work was completed efficiently and to a very high standard. What stood out most was the level of communication and professionalism throughout. Every step of the process was clearly explained, appointments were kept as agreed, and all documentation was provided promptly. It's refreshing to deal with a contractor who is both technically competent and genuinely committed to delivering excellent customer service. I would highly recommend Efficient Home Energy to any landlord or homeowner requiring an EICR, electrical inspection, or remedial works. The expertise, transparency and dedication to safety make them someone you can trust completely. Thank you!
Very disappointing experience. I originally contacted Efficient Home Energy because I needed an EPC, but due to an ambiguous service listing I ended up booking an electrical certificate service instead. The first appointment was a no-show, with only a late email sent the evening before and no direct contact. On the second appointment, the engineer arrived more than three hours after the scheduled time slot. Despite having been issued with a satisfactory EICR only weeks earlier following certified remedial works, Efficient Home Energy carried out a further EICR and quoted £1,216 for additional work. This included a "fuse box upgrade" despite the consumer unit having been replaced only weeks earlier. I was also asked to accept and pay for the quotation by 4pm the same day in order to secure the proposed works (see attached screenshot). Overall, the experience resulted in significant wasted time, unnecessary expense and considerable frustration. I would not use this company again.
I have booked with Efficient Home Energy on two separate occasions this year and I have been very satisfied. Their response times are quick and the electrians who came on the separate occasions were both absolutely incredible and very nice. Thank you Tommy for your help yesterday. Doubt I will be taking my business elsewhere anytime soon.
Very fast and professional service, highly recommended! The engineer was on time within the expected time slot, did all the checks and inspections really quickly (EPC, EICR and Gas Safety) and the certificates were ready the following day
I recently used Efficient Home Energy for my EICR, and I was very impressed. They were efficient, professional, and great value for money. I booked the appointment online via their website on a Wednesday and was able to secure an appointment for that Friday, which was very convenient.
I recently used Efficient Home Energy and overall found the online booking system straightforward and easy to use. It was simple to choose a suitable appointment date and time, and the process was quick and hassle-free. I also found the pricing competitive, and it was reassuring to know that the company offers to match genuine quotations from other providers. My first point of contact was Elle, who was friendly, professional and very helpful throughout the process. She took the time to listen to my concerns, was pleasant to deal with and always responded in a courteous and professional manner. I was then passed over to Lydia, who was extremely helpful from start to finish. She took the time to listen, responded promptly and always treated me with professionalism and respect. What stood out most was that she genuinely cared about helping to resolve the situation rather than simply giving standard responses. Good customer service is becoming harder to find these days, and both Elle and Lydia provided a level of service that is increasingly rare. As a landlord, I deal with many companies and contractors, and when people provide excellent customer service I believe they deserve recognition. Thank you to both Elle and Lydia for all of your help. A special thank you to Lydia, who went above and beyond and is a real credit to Efficient Home Energy.
Booked for session arriving between 11am to 2pm. Came at 3.45pm. I rang Office to enquire why they hadn't turned up and lady was clueless. When Engineer did arrive and on checking the boiler pressure, he let out a sharp intake of breath (we know what that means ie it was going to cost me more than the scheduled appointment price). My friend turned up who informed me the pressures were fine. Engineer accepted that surprisngly. Done his job and gone. Given the extremely late arrival and possible pricing skullduggery I wouldn't use again.
Unprofessional service and EPC assessment formed conclusions different from facts and evidence provided on site.
I booked an engineer to fix the inverter and someone came who opened the inverter, checked the refrigerant levels and said he could not do anything more as we need to change the entire system at a cost of over £20K. That is because they do not cover fixes related to most parts of a system and specialise in installs, which was not made clear to me or is not clear on their website. Further engineer visit was booked for between 8-11am and he did not turn up until 12 noon, with no communication on being delayed or anything. What a waste of time and a waste of the high call out charge I had the privilege of paying!
We recently had air conditioning installed in our 3 bedroom house in south east London by Efficient Home Energy, we couldn't be happier with the service. Alex fitted the Mitsubishi unit in the living room and all 3 bedrooms. The whole process from quote to installation was smooth and professional. The technical expertise was one of the reasons why I chose Efficient Home Energy. He arrived on time and left the place immaculate. Very clean and tidy installation. The pipes were laid conveniently so none were showing inside the property. The system works perfectly to cool in this heat. I want to thank you guys for making the process so easy and for getting it completed for such a reasonable price. Highly recommend.
Excellent service from start to finish. The engineer arrived on time, carried out the gas safety check professionally, and explained everything clearly. The inspection was thorough, and the gas safety certificate was provided promptly. Very polite, efficient, and trustworthy service. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing a gas safety inspection in the UK.
The company doesn’t understand how the boiler for flats work which is shared with others and in the basement. They rated the flat down without inspection.
I was recommended to use Efficient Home Energy by the Estate Agent who I will be renting my property through. I can understand why. From the initial (intuitive and easy) website portal where I first booked my assessment, through to the follow up electrical remedial works were done, the team have been nothing short of being super helpful. Excellent communication over email and on the ‘phone. Clear costing breakdown and speedy turnaround on certificate provision. Fantastic and professional engineers onsite too, who all did an excellent job - with a shoutout to Ervis, for the key piece of work that needed doing. Thank you!
Fantastic company to deal with. I have used them for 8 years and every time the service has been amazing. I have had my EICR, gas certificate, pat testing and fire alarm certificates done every year. I would highly recommend them. Sapphire has been very helpful with the bookings.
We had 4 air conditioning units installed last year. The installer Alex was very helpful tidy and polite. I have just booked my first years service online, reasonable pricing and ultra efficient
Excellent Service, I had my EICR completed in Bromley, realised there were a few issues because of the age of the old fuse box. It was replaced for a reasonable price and the engineer was very helpful. I would highly recommend. Thank you
If you are looking for a company that genuinely values its customers, this would not be my recommendation. Very poor customer care, particularly concerning for vulnerable or elderly customers. If this is how they handle a simple scheduling conversation, I would be genuinely concerned about how they treat people who are less confident or more vulnerable. The technicians themselves were polite and professional. Unfortunately, the experience was undermined by the phone reception. I had a scheduled appointment and called in advance to flag a potential 30-minute timing issue within the 4-hour window due to an unexpected commitment. I was not cancelling, simply asking if there was any flexibility. Instead of attempting to find a solution, the receptionist handled the situation with limited flexibility and poor judgement, showing little willingness to understand or resolve a straightforward request. I was immediately warned about a £50 charge. The tone quickly became confrontational, and the call ended abruptly when the receptionist hung up. We ultimately had to make last-minute arrangements to accommodate the visit, but leading with threats rather than solutions was unnecessary and left a poor impression. Customer service should prioritise problem-solving, not escalation.
We had an electrical survey carried out and remedial works completed, and overall it was a very good experience. The engineers were knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely really nice to deal with. They explained things clearly, answered our questions, and never made us feel rushed or pressured. Communication was great throughout, they let us know in advance when they’d be arriving and called before coming, which we really appreciated. The work was carried out efficiently and everything was left tidy.
Very poor experience. On a Saturday I booked and paid for a Monday morning slot (11-2) on the website for a boiler service, got an email confirmation. Arranged my day to stay in, no one turned up, when I called I was told that it wont have been booked in with an engineer because they don't work on a Saturday! Then why does your website let people book for the Monday without warning them? If this problem is known to you then why didn't someone call me in the morning to let me know? Rearranged for the next day, again engineer didn't show up during the slot, was told he could make it later but I would be out. Arranged again for Friday, was told engineer was due to finish a job at 12:30 that was 10 mins away from me - AGAIN was then told on the day engineer had been rebooked and couldn't be with me til 3. Why was engineer booked on another job that bumped mine? It's not acceptable that you do not make any effort to respect people's time when they have to rearrange their week to be in again and again.
Shocking service from this company. Needed an EICR and booked in for Friday morning. The day before the cancelled the booking and instead could only come in the afternoon. In the afternoon they failed the EICR for a blank being missing on the fuse box and flagged up a lot of other minor things and mentioned the whole fuse box would need replacing. I put a blank on myself which literally took me 2 minutes and got another company to complete an EICR and it passed the second time. I was under time pressure, so needed this certificate and the EPC asap and I must have called them up close to 10 times on the phone chasing up both these certificates. They answered up until 3pm on Friday and after 3pm no one in their office bothered to answer the phone. I spoke to the engineer who was friendly and did answer his phone and he advised to call back on Saturday morning after 9am and no surprise again there was no answer after trying numerous times. On Monday, again after calling numerous time I was promised the EPC certificate which still didn’t arrive. Every time I talked to someone in the office a someone kept telling me they would chase it up but from the time of voice, he didn’t sound too bothered in terms of the urgency of this. Finally On Tuesday, after a couple more calls I managed to get the EPC certificate sent to my email. Should it really take this long for a simple certificate?? Anyway I received a quote for remediation work for the electrics in the property totalling up to £900. After a little while, I received another email mentioning the original price was incorrect and the new price was £1050. I have to admit it has been a big headache and this company is not being run very well in my opinion. I have been using them previously for 2 years to do the gas safety certificate and never experienced these issues before so I’m not sure what has happened here. A bit of advice, the staff who do the Admin need to be a bit more proactive and it shouldn’t take a customer calling up numerous times to make things happen. Let’s just say I will not be using them again in the future.
Extremely unprofessional – avoid at all costs! Booked an appointment for an 8 AM to 12 PM slot, but they never showed up. When we called, they claimed there was no booking, despite us having clear email confirmation as proof. Completely unreliable and amateur service. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.
Extremely disappointed with this service. I booked a PAT test for 8th August, only to be told the engineer was “too busy” and it was rescheduled for the 11th. On the day, I waited until 7 pm — the appointment was supposed to be between 3–6 pm — and I called them four times during that slot to confirm they were coming. Each time, I was assured, “Of course, we’ve spoken to the engineer and he’s on his way.” No one showed up. They ended up wasting my time on two separate days, promising to come and failing to turn up both times. Without asking me, they then rescheduled for the 12th between 3–6 pm again, despite me clearly stating I would be in Dorset. I requested an early morning slot before 8 am, but this was ignored. I’ve tried contacting them via Instagram, WhatsApp, their website, and email — no reply. No accountability. No care for customers’ time. I’ll be cancelling and will never use them again. Absolutely not recommended.
Booked on website and paid with PayPal - all seemed smooth and efficient. Then received whatsapp on morning of booking to say that no appointment was available for that day. Rebooked. Then received a warning that because invoice was not paid, the booking would be cancelled. Phone and paid (again). Just received whatsapp that this second booking has been cancelled and rebooked. Phoned and was told that my payments could not be refunded unless bank details were given. Sat on hold for a long time. Accounts confirmed that PayPal payments can be refunded directly. I cancelled all appointments and will be looking elsewhere for a competent company
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK THEM. I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received. My electrician appointment was cancelled twice, and I waited at home for over three hours before being informed that no one would be coming. When the electrician finally showed up a few days later, he inspected the issue and told me the switch needed replacing—something I had already suggested from the start. He claimed he only had a 13-amp switch, while mine was a standard 20-amp, and said a second visit would be necessary. I find it very hard to believe that a company van wouldn’t be stocked with a range of basic switches. It seems more like a deliberate tactic to require a second visit and charge twice. I’m now being asked to pay £190 (£80 "investigation fee"+ £110 "switch replacement fee") for what should have been a simple, low-cost fix. The experience has been frustrating, misleading, and clearly designed to maximize profit rather than deliver efficient service. NOT RECOMMENDED.
The first time I use them were very efficient, the second time were disappointing, not taking care of the problem or interest in resolving the problem they have caused. So I called someone else and fix the boiler and the sink for £230 while they were asking £250 for just the boiler. I certainly won’t use them again.
Really poor service. Missed appointments- first 1 cancelled late on Friday afternoon. Then missed next appointment by 2 hours and offered me £10 compensation for this which I declined. Since they charged us £50 for a missed appointment last year ( on account of our tenant missing the appointment by 10 mins ) should the same not be payable the other way round ? Had to ask tenant to return to property which resulted in an entire days loss of earnings given that she had already waited at home for the 3 hour window which they stipulated. Then offered a free gas certificate next year !!! Obviously the amount of headache and loss incurred through this years antics, only a fool would commit to the same again next year. They do not call back when they say.
Had our solar panels fitted by Efficient Home! Very happy with the service. Quick visit followed by a competitive estimate. Very quick turn around and installation with high quality! Love the result and performance of the panels, it has made a hug difference in our monthly bills. Thank you 🙏
Useless company. Gas & Electric check was booked, they cancelled the appointment on the day. The checks were completed the next day, however they did not send the certificates, it took them 4 days to send the certificates and my tenant was unable to move in on the agreed date.
Gave the instruction for 14 certificates to be commissioned in November 2023 and was attracted by the discounted bulk prices offered. Provided full details of all tenants to be contacted and agents details to liaise with. Repeatedly had to chase the status of certificates including registering EPCs officially and obtaining the certificates after they had visited. For almost all of the EICR certificates commissioned, the company placed extortionate charges on 'further work required' and failed them. This company clearly entices customers with competitive prices at the outset only to overcharge for further work before issuing clear certificates. On two of the certificates, I had actually paid for the extra work to be done only for the engineer to again fail the certificate and recommended even more work to be done. Simply unbelievable. Had to re-provide tenants details to multiple representatives of the company several times as they simply refused to follow the email trail. Multiple excuses of 'staff leaving the company'. Finally finished dealing with the company in April 2024. Experienced probably the worst customer service I have experienced in property. Raised 3 official complaints which were never acknowledged and followed up on, with phonecalls never being returned by the staff. Unsure of how this company has such a high review rating but my honest opinion is if you have more than one certificate to be done avoid this company at all costs. You will spend more time, energy and money chasing and trying to get issues resolved than the bulk discount is worth.
Avoid! Initially they seem professional. I ask to make a booking saying I only cannot do Thursday so they book me in for Thursday! I email and they change that. They immediately send me an invoice and a red warning that it has to be paid before the day of the appointment. I pay and soon after they cancel my job as the electrician is now affected by a long term illness. I ask for a refund. They reply saying that it was a copy and paste mistake. Strange copy/paste mistake as the email has my name and exact appointment date/hour. I say I'd rather have a refund and have the job done by someone else. They reply I can have a refund. After many emails and more than a week still no refund! If you really want to use this company and in my opinion you should not, do not pay in advance as otherwise they will probably postpone your job and always use a method of payment that allows a dispute!
I will never use this business again. I paid up front for an installation of an electric cooker - they took payment on 21 Dec. The next day due to the engineer's family emergency they had to cancel the booking so I had to find someone else to do the work. They assured me they would refund me my money - despite repeated calls to ask where my money is it's 20 Jan and I still haven't had my refund.
I rarely leave reviews but I feel compelled to warn people of the TERRIBLE service I received from this company recently. For the third year in a row, I booked this company to come and service the combi gas boiler in the flat I rent out. I had assumed, wrongly, that in servicing the boiler, they would fix the leak that had very recently developed. They not only did not fix the leak, I had to chase to get feedback on the leak and find out how much it would cost to fix - £750. I was pretty shocked by the customer service I was receiving at this point so I decided to get a second opinion from a different company - I went with a Which? trusted trader. He quoted me £450 for the repair and said that the boiler had not been serviced in a long time - in fact was thick with dust. IN RESPONSE TO EFFICIENT HOME ENERGY'S REPLY TO MY REVIEW I wrote this review dismayed by the service I had received. I am now APPALLED. Their response includes outright lies. I was never offered the option of a supervisor engineer. I paste below the email I received containing the quote for the repair - it explicitly quotes for the repair. In my reply I actually requested a quote for a new boiler installation - my email was ignored. Hi Anna I hope you’re well, Thank you for your email. I can confirm I have spoken to my manager in regards to the boiler. We will need to solve the leaks in the boiler the cost will be £750 all inclusive and the part will cost £450. There is also an option of replacing the boiler, we can quote for this also. Please let me know what you would like to do. Regards,
