Found Marks Electrical Services on a Google search and feel very fortunate to have done so. Needed an electrician for some re wiring in the bathroom and kitchen in order to install an extractor fan, a water pump and a new hob. Also some new light fittings. It is a father and son firm and they are very pleasant to deal with and more importantly genuine and honest individuals. They worked alongside our other contractors and everyone spoke very highly of them. Would definitely highly recommend this firm for any electrical works. They priced the works fairly (actually cheaper than I expected although I obviously didn’t complain about that lol). In all seriousness a great firm, excellent at what they do and without any hesitation would recommend them to anyone who needs an electrician within Cambridgeshire.

Rang Dean and on the phone he provided a solution and ordered the parts immediately. They arrived a couple days later at which point he came and installed them. He also helped fix a couple other issues and popped by at late notice to fix something else. In summary I can’t fault Dean. Efficient and effective and he is a genuine lovely guy too. I had som bathroom lights replaced. The quote are through quickly, it was a fair price and once I accepted the work was also scheduled in quickly. Dean turned up when he said he would (which quite a lot of trades don’t seem to bother doing any more) and completed the job efficiently and gave me a useful overview of the working of my fuse box.

I bought a Dishwasher from this company via Amazon. Product seems fine but they are very reluctant to provide proof of purchase ie. an invoice. The item was for a house we are selling and the client wants a receipt to validate the warrenty. With most companies on Amazon an invoice is provided as a matter of course, but not with Marks? Very suspicious I would suggest.

Dean was able to estimate from photos for installing an outside power socket for Heat source pump quicker than other electricians fitting me in between jobs at a fair rate in pricing. And with Matthew in tow was able to do work his magic in the most difficult of restricted spaces, so Marks Electricals can cope with any jobs that come there way. We had a complete rewire carried out, at our recently purchased home which needed a total refurb this took approaching 9 months to resemble completion. Matthew came to replace a broken fluorescent tube fitting with an LED one and a faulty dimmer switch. Both are now working properly-- It is a pleasure each time the bathroom lights go on and very good to be able to see properly what we are cooking! He also wired in an extra double socket. It's pretty messed up that this Marks Electrical cares more about my plight than the Marks Electrical I spent hundreds of pounds with. At least now I know who to hire to install my oven (if they ever get it to work)

Dean came promptly to replace a wall mounted thermostat with a wireless one, but discovered after taking our old one off that wireless receivers are not compatible with the system installed in our house at the moment, without undertaking a much larger system replacement job. He gave us some good advice on how to proceed next to achieve our heating-related goals and since he was unable to complete the job, he didn't charge us.

Excellent service. My Nest smart thermostat was broken so we were without heating. I wanted it replaced with a non smart version. Dean did this explaining everything and showing me how to work the control unit. He also helpfully repaired the fitting of my kitchen lights and suggested and supplied new bulbs. I am more than happy with the work. I now have a warm home and a kitchen that seems much larger now it has the right lighting. Fantastic value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending the firm.

Great service - Mark installed a new circuit for my immersion to hook up to the solar, and was completely unphased (did you see what I did there?) by the baffling geography of the house and had it sorted out in no time.

I emailed Marks on a Friday evening for a non-urgent job; I received a quote over the weekend and the job was done by the Monday afternoon. Dean came and installed a big chandelier for my first floor landing in my new house yesterday. The whole process was very professional and efficient. Very please with the the work Dean & Matt carried out to install garden lighting in September 2021. On the day, dean was flexible to my suggest to change a route for the main power cable to bury it underground rather than take a longer route. all Cabling was pinned to the wall by clips and saddles and looked really neat & tidy. Garden lights look a treat. just need to stock the borders with some nice plants and flowers to get the full effect. if there are any other types of jobs which I need doing in the future, I will definitely be giving them a call.

Can't say enough good things about Dean. I called to ask him for help with a string of halogen kitchen lights which had partially failed, and to ask for advice on upgrading halogens to LEDs more generally in my house. He arrived at 8am next day determined both to save me money and to offer completely impartial advice - no upselling, just an honest appraisal. He spent time figuring out our complicated transformer circuits and advised on how to upgrade them. He also solved the immediate problem with the kitchen lights. Very nice bloke, too. Update Dec 2019: I know I was pretty enthusiastic last time around but Dean has just helped us install a new oven and he was a gent throughout. He is completely focused on getting the job done in the most efficient way, and with least expense to you -- no padding, no extra work or fees, just the fastest and safest way to a good job. And he always sticks to his deadlines so you never have to worry about chasing him up or rescheduling. With this job we did get another quote and I can only say that Dean was, uh, comfortably lower; in fact, i could do my Christmas shopping with the difference between his quote and the other one!

Great service, and seemed very ethical, fair and thorough. Couldn't do all the jobs we'd requested due to identifying a problem with our wiring, spent a good bit of time investigating at no charge, and then completed what they were able to (safely) do on the day, with advice for further options. We'd def have them back. They were recommended to us, and would definitely recommend to others.

Dean came to carry out some work for me at my workplace, Romsey Mill. He did an excellent job, really thorough, reasonably priced and was able to attend quickly - just what i was looking for. It was the first time we have used Marks Electrical and I will definitely be calling on them again.

I contacted Dean the on 27th December as my RCD on my downstairs sockets kept tripping. Although he wasn't working he took 10 minutes of his time to see if we could isolate the problem, We couldn't but I appreciated his efforts. Dean installed a new consumer unit for me which I should have had done ages ago. I wanted a couple of extra wall sockets but was not sure how tricky/messy this would be. An extremely capable, thorough and, very importantly, flexible and attentive company, and we are very happy to have them local to us in Histon. The most recent job that Marks Electrical has done, in October 2015 - was to rewire the trunking to the immersion heater. To ensure proper operation, the old thermostat on the heater was replaced as well. The timing of the job - when people were about - was worked around and Dean communicated well. Very satisfied!
