Called Newton Electrical before 9am on a weekday and spoke to Paul on the out of hours service number. I had an issue with an immersion heater in a tank that wasn't heating the water. Paul suggested that I try a reset switch on the thermostat that I didn't know existed, which I said I would look into. I also after 9am booked with Lisa in the office for an engineer to pop round the next day to look at the boiler as a backup plan. In the meantime I found the reset switch, flicked it and the power came on again and the immersion started to heat up. Lisa was happy to cancel the call out and I'm happy that Paul gave the advice to carry out the reset. 5 stars al round.

Big electrical issue at Katie O’brians, which could have closed the venue. All fixed with in half a hour, worth every penny.

Paul came round to ours the other week to replace a bathroom extractor fan which had finally given up the ghost. He did a great job, very tidy and considerate, and even fixed a couple of existing wiring faults that he found during he course of the work. Would definitely recommend!

We first used Newton Electrics in Harrogate on Christmas Eve when we lost our kitchen plugs. We had a full fridge and freezer for our family celebrations. They saved our bacon (literally) by diagnosing a fault on our fuse board over the phone with the help of FaceTime. There was no charge even though this took a good half hour. We then needed a future replacement of our ancient fuse board. Newton were outstanding in a detective hunt to trace all the circuits in our Victorian house. They give round the clock cover for emergencies. We can’t speak highly enough of them.

Had a fault with a tripping RCD on the fuse box. Mark talked me through troubleshooting the issue with patience and how best to fault find. Didn't need to come out and taught me something too. Top service and would highly recommend.

I called Mark on a Saturday late afternoon after getting home to find none of the switches worked & no heating, as we were going to an awards evening in two hours we were desperate to get it working. Mark was excellent & talked through various things for us to try, after trying numerous things unsuccessfully, he came straight to us as soon as he finished the job he was doing ( 5pm Saturday ) . He quickly found the problem & got us back on & able to get the heating & sockets back on & suggested things to help prevent the problem happening again. I would not hesitate to recommend Mark & Newton Electrical.

Spoke to Mark about electrical issue at home, after walking me through some things to try he then booked Paul to come out next morning. Paul then sorted it. Good local company to use, don’t bother with the national companies. Highly recommend

What a great guy! Called and spoke to Mark on Monday am, after all sockets kept tripping out and had already done a few things to find the problem. He could have charged to come out but instead talked me through a process to find the fault - all sorted in a call. He even called me back to check that I’d sorted it myself. No charge! Unheard of - highly recommend, great service.

What a Helpful company Rang this morning as my circuit was tripping leavinv me without hot water , heat , fridge, lights and boiler and Mark was great He talked me through the problem even though just landed from holiday . If I need a face to face electrician I won't hesitate to contact this company

Absolutely brilliant. Tricky job that required a bonding wire fitting beneath an existing wooden wall feature and did it with no fuss and complaint. A brilliant job. Highly recommend.

Really fantastic work from Mark. A broken oven just before Christmas was a complete nightmare but Mark diagnosed the problem, went and found a new oven and fitted it, all within a few hours. Big thanks to Mark!

Excellent service from Newton's and Paul who installed a new fire alarm panel and emergency lighting. You don't need to look any further than Newton's for your electrical installation work. Spot on.

I had two amazing guys come out to do some work for me, Harry and Ed, they went above and beyond. They added a physical light switch to my bathroom replacing a pool card switch. Not only did they wire this in for me, but they also helped with my smart switch. That was then installed. They managed to convert the Wiring over so it had a neutral as well. The work was tidy and they offered to clean up and they were talkative. All in all I am amazingly pleased with the work that they carried out. 11 out of 10 for service and reliability. Well done guys.

Had an issue with all the sockets in the house losing power. I had checked the fuse box and was struggling to get things back on… Rang Newton Electrical Contractors and simply helped me get everything back up and running for free over the phone. Very helpful, would recommend!

We’ve just had an electrical problem at home on a bank holiday Friday evening. I phoned Newton Electrical and got through to Mark, who very quickly and very professionally diagnosed the problem and talked me through how to sort it out. Mark had no hesitation in giving his time and advice freely despite it eating into ‘family time’. What fantastic service! Newton’s phone number is in our book now and we will be using them in the future. The world needs more people like Mark!

Spoke with Mark about an electrical fault to our garage. Mark talked through and resolved the issue over the phone without charging for his advice. He diagnosed the root cause and explained how to resolve it permanently. We called on a Friday evening, but our call was answered immediately and the problem sorted in five minutes. Very pleased, and would definitely recommend.

Amazing!! They answered the phone quickly after 9 pm and helped walk me through and resolve a power outage. Went through more things than Northern Powergrid so we were able to resolve the issue. They were very nice, calm and clear. If we didn’t resolve it he would have come out to help. Highly recommend.

Extremely helpful during a stressful time during a power cut during the hotest day of the year

We approached Newton about the removal of an old thermostat system in our new home, as the previous owner had fitted a hive system. On the day the technician Harry came out to assess the situation and performed the removal. Later that night however there seemed to be an issue with our heating. Within literally minutes of us raising the enquiry Newton were on the phone and eager to assist. Any electrician can perform a basic service but a company that truly cares about its customers are invested in problem solving, support, and customer wellbeing. Newton showed all these values and came out at 11pm at night, free of charge, to help us understand why the heating wasn’t working. They identified an issue where the previous owner had wired in the Hive controls wrongly, and were able to resolve this so we had heat through what was a really cold night. There was no charge for this work despite Newton spending an hour of their time. Throughout the process the company MD was only interested in knowing we were looked after and had heat… he even identified a possible issue with our boiler pressure levels and suggested some energy saving tips in the process. I cannot speak more highly of this organisation and would highly recommend them for any electrical work you are considering.

Mark is a real gem. Helped us out of a sticky situation at short notice, then returned to finish the work as promised. Mark and his apprentice were professional and confident. They provided a stellar service when the work wasn't easy. 100% recommend and will be using Mark and his team again. Brilliant.

Great electrician and quick, professional work!

I had an issue with power to my boiler. Paul answered the phone on a Sunday evening and couldn’t have been more helpful. I sent him photos and he discussed it over the phone. Managed to solve the problem which was such a relief. Thankfully didn’t need to call him out, but the price quoted was also very reasonable. Really friendly, professional and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be my first port of call if I have any electrical issues in the future.

We've had a few outstanding things that have needed doing for a while, but finding high-quality reliable contractors has always been challenging. Paul was incredibly helpful when discussing the work required, provided and accurate quote, turned up on time, and carried out the work to incredibly high standard.

Personable, fast and most of all, extremely competent. If you need an electrician and worry about being ripped off or getting a sub standard job, call Mark and relax.

We have had on going issue with our how water supply for over a year as we have an electric boiler. Mark attended 3 appointments at the end of 2019 to assist us in finding out the problem, resulting in it being the responsibility of our electricity supplier and not one that he could fix. We have had to battle our supplier all the way to ombudsman, to which its soon to be resolved (hopefully). Mark has gone above and beyond in supporting us and taken hours writing up reports to supply us with evidence. I can not recommend him and Newton electric enough. He has been patient, extremely helpful, knowledgeable and gone out of him way to assist us.

We called out Paul yesterday evening as half of our electrics had suddenly failed in spite of everything being new. Within 20 minutes Paul arrived and realised the RCD had failed on the consumer unit. He quickly replaced this and power was restored. He gave excellent service and we would certainly recommend this firm for all issues electrical. Many thanks

I called Mark late on a Sunday pm as my RCD had tripped out and I was struggling to reset it. Nothing was too much trouble. Mark talked me through what I needed to do over the phone and asked me to let him know when I had finished. First rate advice and my problem was solved within 15 minutes. Other businesses I can think of would just come out - bill you exorbitant call out charges for nothing. This is a business that puts the customer first, looking to help you help yourself if possible. Great free advice. Based on this experience I will be recommending this company to friends and will use them for other electrical jobs that I am planning.

We had a partial power outage at our home this morning. I called the number on the website and within 5 minutes I received a call from Mark Thorp who patiently talked me through a simple diagnostic repair routine on the phone and hey presto normality was restored. No fee charged. Guess who my go to electrician is now? In this day and age, what fantastic, courteous and professional service. Beyond 5 stars I would say.

I was recommended to ring Newton Electrical's by a good contact. The issue was a faulty boiler in an apartment we rent out. Professional and helpful, rang the tenant and going out next day. The real class act was helping me where my family lives and a faulty outdated boiler. Heating and hot water never comes on and we didn’t know what to do. Mark downloaded an old manual which we couldn’t find anywhere and basically said the fan is stuck and won’t come on, give it a bang at the top. Job fixed. Brilliant service as his priority was making sure we all had hot water and heating. Class act
