Ryan from R.Askew Electrical attended our new home to help us understand how our heating worked. We have zoned under floor heating with lots of controls and thermostats along with radiators upstairs on different zones. Ryan came across and discussed everything with us and explored what controlled what and I am now able to fully operate our heating system which is complicated. Ryan is looking into turning it into a Hive controlled system that can be operated from my phone for ease and to control when away too.

Over the years I’d heard people say things like “Askew were the top electrical firm in Yorkshire” or “Ryan was the smartest electrician in town” but I have to disagree… Having lived and worked all over the UK I’m going to put it right out there and say these guys are, without doubt, “The Best Electricians in Britain”. Let’s break it down… Usual story; I’ve inherited a half-cocked job from a local developer, who put’s more effort into penny-pinching and avoiding doing any work than just getting the job done properly. Guess what? I now have backwards-forward wiring and an electrical emergency fizzing upstairs. So, I call up Askew to see what all the fuss was about; The fabulous Donna is on it like a car bonnet with a fast and accurate response. She hits me with a fair price and their next available appointment. Like the amateur I am, I asked something stupid like “Will you be able to fix this?” to which she signs off with the magical words “If anyone can, Ryan’s your man”. Bang on time the van pulls up. No messing about, the usual “breathing through teeth” or the dreaded “this is gonna cost you more than I thought mate’ nonsense. Ryan is straight to work. After five minutes he’s figured it all out in his head and explained to me how he’s going to correct the hazardous mess he's inherited from Abdul. The fact I’ve no idea what a three-way-gang-current-spark-fuse-amp-socket-ding-dong-bing-bong actually is really doesn’t matter. He has my trust and I’m off to fix him a proper coffee. “This will take two hours Sir!” was all I needed to hear. I kid you not… One hour and fifty nine minutes later the smart-arse hands me back an empty coffee cup with a big smile on his face. He's packed and off to the next job. The work’s been done, the problems fixed, the carpet hoovered and he’d even filled in a crack around a light socket that the ‘Bandit From Bombay’ left me looking at. Listen up good people of South Yorkshire… You have an actual Sparky Superstar business right on your doorstep. Great service. We found ourselves without electricity on a Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. After being let down by other electricians Ryan said he would be with us same day to get our power back on. He found and fixed the problem very quickly, explained what had happened and gave advice. Ryan and his associates did a fantastic job for us at our home, he installed an EV charger which had to be connected to our meter which was locked into the centre of our house due to extensions all around our property, the job he did was brilliant, no mess or clean up required, nothing was too much trouble for him. Whilst he was here I asked him about some under counter lights in our kitchen which he sourced and fitted, they’re brilliant! And to top it off he fixed an issue we’d had with a set of lights in our study, they hadn’t worked properly for 7yrs, and multiple electricians had tried to fix them in the past. For all our electrical needs going forward Ryan will be my first port of call, trustworthy and great value for money.

Our first contact with Askew Electrical was when we had an emergency, though late at night they came out and got some power on and then the following morning came and rectified the problem, very efficiently. Since then we have had the firm to re-wire the garage, update the outside cabling and fit working security lights. Ryan kept us abreast of what, why and when during the whole process and the work was carried out to the highest standard and left the job nice and clean. We had a report done on our new house and after being quoted in being ready on Monday, after the electrician went in on Friday to look, we finally got our report the following Friday. The electrician said himself we should have never been quoted a date that soon as he was in a job in wales. All this could have been excused however over the phone we were quoted £180 and the lady didn’t mention the VAT so we’ve actually paid £216! Really not happy and felt that at times we were just being shoved off. Don’t get me wrong, the work they have done is extremely thorough and we’re impressed with the detail of the report but overall, not had the best experience.

Through WhatsApp I was quoted from Ryan that I would be charged £140 to install a light fitting and to relocate 2 light fittings. He sent some unprofessional to my house they were told from Debbie the job was for a bathroom light fixture and to just change the kitchen lights however the job was only for the kitchen lights. After installing one of the kitchen lights they said they were leaving to buy some parts. I received a message from Debbie saying that the lights are £130 each when I phoned them they said they had felt intimidated as we had asked them to shorten the lengths of the pendant which anyone would ask. They also had no safety equipment one of the lads were standing on the equipment box whilst the other guy had no safety equipment when they were making a access hole for the lights another issue was they did not turn of the electricity which personally I should have told them to leave as they said they don’t need to take of the electricity. They did not resolve the issue and left my kitchen as a mess when I asked them as why they couldn’t do it they said they felt intimidated so if you are planning to install some lights I do not recommend as they will do half a job leave a mess and if you were to ask to adjust something they would feel “intimidated” I hope Ryan fixes this issue with his safety and unreliable staff members

DON'T USE - RUBBISH SERVICE! Called them out to a job on Saturday afternoon - and despite their website saying "they would arrive within an hour" and "they won't leave you in the dark", they never showed up! Called them again, still no show! Called another company on Sunday who came & did the job straight away. Then got a message today (Monday) - "Hey lovey, do you still need us?" - how unprofessional & rude! Glad I didn't need them anymore - from other people's reviews it looks like I had a lucky escape!

It was very easy job for any electrician. Just changing 3 lights and 3 sockets (they only supplied one light and one socket. The others I bought them myself.) The boss especially very arrogant and big headed. He thinks he is the only one in the area. I will never ever use them again..
