Very happy with the service done quickly and efficiently got my laptop back same day!

Great service - my Dell laptop had a hinge issue that was making it unusable that I had definitely left too long and allowed to get worse. I contacted John and dropped my laptop off that evening. It was diagnosed the next morning - as well as looking at the issue he also noticed my battery's poor performance. Once parts had arrived, it was fixed the next morning for a sensible price by an expert. Didn't even realise my battery was an issue but my laptop now runs 4 times as long off power! Would absolutely go back if any further issues.

He immediately looked into the problem and discovered a “fatal” hard drive failure. John replaced the SSD drive and it is now awaiting me to reload apps and my backup files. Great service and advice from SotonComputerRepairs.

Belum sebulan nyampe Soton, laptopnya tiba-tiba bermasalah.

The fella was quick to reply. I felt like he listened to my problem and returned it the next day, explained what the issue was and gave advice about backing my laptop up (as it is getting old). He also didn't speak to me like an idiot like some computer smarties because you don't know or understand computers! Will save his web page and refer him to anyone that may need it, deffo recommend! :)

Daniel at Soton Computer Repairs is a gem! I couldn't have asked for better service. Although he couldn't fix my external hard drive, he provided me with a replacement at a really great price. That works perfectly. And with a same day turn around (which was more like a few hours!) His friendly approach made the whole experience even better! Plus, the fact that he lives just a 2-minute walk from my place was a hilarious bonus for this recluse. If only he could fix scooters as well 🤣 Highly recommend him for any computer needs!!!! The repair was completed very quickly and the cost was very good. I would be happy to recommend John to all my friends. 18th May 2023 The previous review related to work on my desktop. On this occasion it was necessary to investigate and then replace a failing laptop battery. This was completed successfully and I was very happy with the work, cost to achieve this.

Diucapkan berbanyak terima kasih.

So, just to provide a bit of context, I would like to briefly describe my 4 year old custom desktop computer system. I’m running Windows 10 Pro from a Western Digital Green 240GB Internal SSD M.2 SATA drive. I have an additional Seagate BarraCuda 2TB hard drive which has been partitioned into two 1TB drives. The motherboard is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H (Socket AM4 Micro ATX). This motherboard has four memory slots which hold four HyperX Fury DDR4 16GB (Kit 4 x 4GB) 2666 MHz memory modules. There is a Pioneer DVD Writer drive. The CPU is an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Processor with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics. Finally, all this is housed in a black Fractal Design Focus G Mini side windowed desktop case. After carrying out routine maintenance my computer would not boot (start). Full disclosure, I successfully completed the COMPTA A+ Certification in 2011. However, my faultfinding starts with a bootable computer and since this was not the case I had to reach out to an expert. I contacted John at Soton Computer Repairs who advised me to bring my computer round to his place for him to have a look at it. This I did and a few days later he sent me a text informing that he could fix my computer and this would cost £80. I told him that was fine but he would have to wait until the end of the month for payment. As agreed, at the end of the month I paid John for the repair to my computer and then went round to his house to pick up said computer. But I was surprised that it still did not boot. I called John and he suggested a visit to my flat in two days. John arrived before time - took the side panel off and started working away on my computer while we chatted. I couldn't see what he was doing but in next to no time my computer was up and running. The following day while using my computer, I looked through the windowed side panel at the motherboard and noticed two memory slots were empty. I took the side panel off to investigate. The memory modules were quickly located in the bottom right corner of the case. I placed the memory modules back in their slots but then my computer wouldn't boot. It didn’t take me long to determine that my boot issues were caused by the two faulty RAM modules. I have since brought and installed two HyperX Fury DDR4 4GB 2666 MHz memory modules. A check on Windows/Settings/System/About confirms that my installed RAM is back up to 16.0 GB. In conclusion, I would happily have paid £40-£50 for the diagnostic confirmation that my boot issues were caused by faulty memory. But I think it is a bit excessive to just remove two memory modules and charge £80. UPDATE: I’m not going to get into a he said she said with you and standby what I wrote in my review. However, I do want to make one final point on the matter. Admittedly, one set of RAM was brought on Amazon in 2019. The other set of RAM was brought on eBay in 2020. But both sets of RAM are the same make, model, frequency and DIMM. My advice to you John is when you are in a hole stop digging.

Very impressed with service. Arrived as booked. Had good computer knowledge and skills. Sorted an issue out quickly. Charges very reasonable. Would use again

Really good personalised service. Good value.

Brilliant, quick, friendly service - all at a great price. Thank you.

Work was completed in a day (the amount of time it took to source a replacement part). Answered questions via email/text very quickly and provided updates so I was kept in the loop which was very important to me having had bad experiences with larger local PC repair businesses leaving me in the dark for days at a time. Fair pricing. Will use again if I have any problems.

Lovely and amazing! Quick service, good price, lovely guy. Very helpful

Absolutely fabulous! Can not recommend enough! I was very scared to start with but alternative was either Currys (which is extremely bad) or new laptop so I gave it a go. Now I will allways use John and will recommend him to everyone. My computer was up and running the next day and John clearly cares about satisfaction of his custommers.

Dan did a great job! He fixed my laptop screen the same day allowing me to get back to work quickly.

An absolutely fantastic service from John. My computer suffered a terminal failure to hard disc. It posed a very difficult challenge to recover my data and I was delighted when he managed it. With a new hard drive fitted its all up and running for a very reasonable cost. No hesitation in recommending him and he would be my first call for any problems.

Очень рекомендую :) The best service in southampton! Few month ago I spilled coffee on my laptop and send message to Soton Computer Repais to see if they can help. John responded intermediately. I handed over my laptop to him and he run full diagnostics for FREE. It turned out my mother board is too damaged and I would have to order a new one. Although, John even contacted his colleagues to see if someone will try to fix my mother board. Unfortunately, I can't afford to fix it right now, but when I will be able to I will definitely take it back to Soton Repairs! Highly recomend :)

Labai greitai ,pakonsultavo apie kompiuteriai, ,sauniai dirba

Rekomenduoju patikima kompiuteriu meistra. Sugedus musu laptopui John sutiko apziureti kompiuteri ta pacia diena. Highly recommended and trustworthy service!

We had a small problem with our office computer which John responded to very quickly and visited us on site to investigate. Punctual, Polite and quickly identified and resolved the issue. Happy to recommend.

Excellent service, quick turnaround and a reasonable price compared to some I have used in the past. Would definitely use again if the need arose.

Supr servis, velmi rychlý. Vše proběhlo v pořádku. Dlouhá otevírací doba je praktická.

Very friendly guy with good communications and fixed my water damaged MacBook nicely. Definitely recommend :)

Had a very rare and unusual problem with my laptop keyboard and battery after several years of use and took it here not knowing what it was. I had encountered a serious issue with my PC's operating system late one night and in desperation sent a text to Southampton computer repairs asking for help. I got a reply back first thing Sunday morning and, despite it being a bank holiday the following day, had my computer back up and running within 36 hours of reaching out. Absolutely amazing service, support and consideration was provided at every stage and I'm very happy in the knowledge that if I ever encounter issues beyond my ability to fix in the future I know exactly where to go. Many thanks.
