I contacted Genesis Domestic Appliance Company to repair my tumble dryer, which was only a little over 2 years old. The owner himself came to my house, opened the machine, pushed a small clip (like a fuse) and the machine started working again — but only for one drying cycle, then it stopped again. He charged me £89, which is ridiculously expensive for a job that took 5–10 minutes and didn’t actually fix the problem. He told me to “try it and let him know,” and said I would probably need to replace the fan. After the dryer stopped again, I noticed it also burned my cable where the fuse is placed. When I told him, he said this is “normal sometimes because they are Chinese” and asked me to fix it myself because he couldn’t come as he needed to look after his kids. I understand family responsibilities, but I ended up doing something I never do — trying to repair my Bosch machine that cost over £1,000 — and after his first visit, it was worse than before. The machine still wasn’t drying properly, clothes were coming out wet, and I had to keep contacting him to come back. He eventually returned and cleaned the fan (he said he was supposed to charge me but luckily didn’t), but the problem was still not solved. Then he told me I needed a new fan and ordered the part for £140. I waited over 1.5 months, and he did not update me at all. I had to keep chasing him for updates, and each time he said he was “still waiting.” When I finally asked for a refund, suddenly he said he would come the next week. He came, changed the part in about 10 minutes, and even though he mentioned earlier he would charge another £89, he strangely said “nothing, nothing” and tried to leave quickly. I immediately felt something wasn’t right. After that, I tested the machine and it still did not work. At that point I had paid over £230 and the dryer was still not fixed — actually worse than before. I messaged him again asking him to come back and sort it out, and now he ignores my messages completely. I never leave bad reviews, but this experience has been unacceptable. Very expensive, poor communication, and the repair was not done properly at all. If you want to save your money and avoid stress, do not use this company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

Mike came to repair our quite unusual downdraft hob and did a brilliant job. He was friendly, professional, clean and tidy. It was the first time he had been sent to do a job by the company who has been assigned to fix our hob. The fault had been previously assessed by another engineer and all Mike had been told was that a part had been ordered. In his experience, it isn’t always the right part, and it took quite a bit of detective work for him to establish that was was in fact right. It wasn’t easily accessible but Mike was brilliant at working out how to get to it, and how dismantle the cupboard below to gain access to it, and to the power supply. I was very impressed. He made sure everything was working as it should and put everything back together before leaving. In fact he put things back better than they were as he wasn’t very impressed with the woods screw that had been used to secure the motor & went to his van to find better one. Thank you Mike. I’ve got your card now and we’ll definitely be calling you for any appliance repairs we have in the future.

WOW, amazing service from this company! - I called on Saturday as my washing machine has sprung a leak (or so I thought...) Mike arranged to pop round on Monday. He was there at 8.30AM this morning, assessed the situation. Was very clear about the cost before proceeding (more than reasonable). The issue was in face the waste pipe stack blockage. Sorted in less than 45mins. Mike was friendly, professional and got the job done. I thought I would have to replace my washing machine - but it was a case of getting the waste pipe unblocked. Absolutely excellent service and would highly recommend.

Near beginning of lockdown our washing machine failed. We needed it fixed but were worried about someone coming in to fix in the pandemic. All work was carried out efficiently and effectively. Mike located two leaks, one from the cold inlet pipe to the washing machine and the other the washing machine itself. He advised on cost of parts and work required to repair. A new washing machine was ordered and he returned immediately it arrived to install it and carry out the repair to the infill pipe.
