Sadly, I am disappointed with our experience. We initially asked Simon to come take a look at our tree and provide a quote for trimming it back. When we booked in the work with Simon, he didn't show up and called much later to say he was on holiday. Simon would benefit from improving his customer service by cancelling the appointment with customers when he doesn't intend to keep it. Randomly this week, he called to say he was nearby and showed up to work on the tree. Luckily one of us was working from home. We were given about 20 minutes notice that he was going to arrive. One of us missed the end to a very important meeting to meet with him to get the work started. When Simon got here, he did nothing but verbally unload his frustration, complaining about the parking and the items in the neighbours' garden. He said he would come back the next day as he had a job nearby. We rearranged our working schedules to ensure we would be here for him. When he got here today, he again complained about the parking and despite our neighbours moving their items to make space, Simon refused to do the work as he wouldn't risk it. He said to call him when the neighbours move their things (which is commendable), but as I was trying to explain our neighbours have given us written permission to move things further if needed, Simon continued to talk over me and was finding any excuse to not do the work. I didn't feel listened to or that our time and effort to get this done on his schedule was respected at all. In my opinion, it was thinly veiled that he just didn't want to do this work, and instead of kindly refusing the job, he inconvenienced our schedules and wasted our time. At first Simon seemed like a pretty friendly guy, and I'm sure he is, but Simon's customer service / communication skills need a great deal of improvement. His tree surgery skills may be lovely and affordable based on other reviews, but unfortunately, we never got that far. I think it is fair for future customers to know that our experience could be their experience as well for smaller jobs like cutting back a single tree in the garden.
Had a few prices from other tree surgeons but was recommended Simon who turned up as promised gave a very competitive price and carried out the work to the highest standard
Phoned around numerous tree surgeons, Simon answers the phone straight away gave me and I start price, explained the procedure. Arrived on time and performed the job at the highest standards at a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend.
We had Simon round initially to grind some stumps and then subsequently to flatten out our large garden (after I tried and gave up with a shovel). Simon provided a speedy response to our initial enquiry and booked in a date to come round and quote. During the quote he took the time to understand our final vision of the garden and tailored his services accordingly. When it came to the jobs, Simon worked incredibly professionally and efficiently even taking time to do some tidying up. The value for money you obtain with Simon is leaps and bounds ahead of any contractor I've used before! Should we ever move to a new property or undertake another large garden project, We'll come straight back to Simon (before I'm even tempted to pick up a shovel!)

Colchester Tree Services have done several jobs for us, from thinning, to removing some pretty big trees and stump grinding, we have been happy with what they have done for us and have always turned up when they have said and just got on and got the job done. I would be happy to recommend them.
