G A Butler & Sons Ltd

The Butler team were fantastic. Very knowledgeable and skilled at what they do. We needed a fence replacing and a small amount of soft landscaping. They completed it earlier than expected with no mess or fuss, on some of the hottest days we've had recently. The 2 gents were polite and well mannered and did not mind my 2 boys "helping"( or atleast didn't show any annoyance by their presence) At the end of the day it was 5 star service and would highly recommend them.

Very happy with the job done

Fantastic service from start to finish, would happily recommend this firm to anyone and everyone. Garden now looks great and all the mess was removed. Over the moon with the work, thank you guys 👍

Boiling hot day, and equipment playing up, the guys did a great job reducing our 40ft beech tree to something more sensible. Recommended.

Excellent prompt and professional service with good advice on additional potential work required. Definitely a ‘use again’ service. Many thanks.

I required several large trees to be reduced in height. Butlers team carried out the work efficiently and with great care with neighbouring properties. Very courteous and on completion of work the property was left very clean and tidy. I would happily use and recommend Butlers again. Many thanks. Chris Selkirk.

The Butler team did a fantastic job cutting all my hedges. Despite the heat, they worked tirelessly. Left the garden looking smart, and very tidy. Highly recommend.

Amazing work by the team. Crown and canopy reduction as well as removal of deadwood to two 100 year old oak trees with TPO's. They sorted the planning application and then once approved did a magnificent job just the day after approval. Very quick and professional service. They were great guys, happy and kept checking on us to make sure we were happy with their work. They managed to get their cherry picker and towed shredder past a difficult access and got their safety harnesses on and straight to work. A great tidy up once finished so we will not hesitate to recommend and call on them again in the future. Highly recommend Butlers.

Brilliant job levelling, rotavating and sowing an area about 250 sq metres to grass. The area was a real mess but their team went over and above to leave it absolutely perfect. They took all the (unexpected) spoil away, did a better job than we expected possible and I would use them again without any hesitation.

Did the job. Stump removed quickly on the day, despite the grinder breaking down, hence reverted to the old fashioned method to finish the job. Needed a bit of a reminder to respond to my initial email, so maybe best to ring ....

Brilliant job done quickly and professionally. Thank you.

Excellent and professional job. Arrived promptly , removed all the tree branches as asked and left the garden in a very tidy state. Would use this company for future work

Excellent work on an ailing oak tree. Service was prompt and the team were exceedingly efficient and courteous, leaving the garden tidier than it was when they arrived. Thank you for doing such a thorough job! Highly recommended.

We got these guys in to do a stump grind for us. Hugely impressed. Turned up literally within a day - took great care in looking after our garden whilst also doing an efficient job on the stump. We mentioned in our initial enquiry with them that we were going to re turf the ground - and we were offered some of their spare turf rolls they had, thrown in. Overall thoroughly recommend and when we next have any suitable work there is no one else we would go with.

work was arranged and carried out really quickly and the ground was left very tidy afterwards.

I have used Butlers for many years because they are excellent. They have managed to keep our aging Damson tree going for a long time as they are very knowledgeable and careful. I have used them for many things from tree maintenance, tree removal and stump removal. I highly recommend them as they are reliable and a pleasure to work with.

Butlers were called out as an emergency on a Saturday when a tree had fallen across our road. They arrived quickly, were organised, came with all the right equipment - including a grabloader to move the tree trunk, and were professional through and through. They made light work of a complex job, and I couldn't have asked for a better service.

We have been using Butlers for years and we really appreciate the prompt service, professional approach and skilled staff. Thank you for a great job yesterday.

Tremendous job by the Butlers crew, who just removed our dying apple tree. They were careful, polite, thoughtful, extremely efficient without being rushed, and left the garden looking really tidy. They even went above and beyond, removing some bulky waste from our garden - an unexpected and most welcome bonus. If you live in Newbury, these are the guys you use.

We had Butler’s & Sons at our property last week to take care of a very large, overgrown yew tree that hadn’t had any attention for decades. The team were absolutely fantastic. They arrived on time, were prompt, efficient, polite and really lovely to deal with. They took great care of our property, worked with real professionalism and left everything spotless afterwards. The job they did on the yew was exceptional, even managing to remove a very tangled, 40-year-old dead thorn rose that had grown right through it. We’re absolutely thrilled with the result and couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Butlers are absolutely the real deal. Their attention to detail is top draw, their quotes competitive and realistic, their manner approachable and thoroughly professional. They get the job done to the highest of standards. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Lovely team, polite and courteous at all times. Great standard of work, wonderful attention to detail, using quality materials at a reasonable cost. Could not find fault, will be using again.

I can honestly say that G A Butler & Sons ie Steve and his team did a fantastic job for me today They were very professional, courteous and very knowledgeable Would recommend this company for any gardening and landscaping work

We’ve used Butlers on a number of occasions for a few fencing projects, tree assessment, felling, new tree planting and driveway gravelling and Stephen has been extremely professional and helpful. We have always been delighted with the end results and he will always be our first port of call. We have no hesitation in recommending his company again.

Butler and Sons came to take down a tree in my front garden and grind out the stump, they took everything away and left the area looking nice and tidy. Polite team, professional and knowledgeable. Very happy with the outcome, would highly recommend. Relieved to have found a trustworthy company.

Team were fantastic - really good bunch of guys, v professional and polite

All round brilliant service. Will definitely use them again.

Turned up on time, worked quickly, did a professional job, cleared up after themselves. The 2 people doing the job were very polite. Would definitely use this company again.

We have used Butlers for various jobs around our garden over the years. Always professional, polite and tidy. I would highly recommend. Thanks to Graham, Luke and the team!

Absolutely Brilliant from start to finish. Replaced my old fence which was literally on its last legs. Would recommend Luke, James and the team for your fencing needs. They were on time, kept to the schedule, cleaned up after everything was done. Keep it Up!

Butlers did an excellent job cutting down a large tree near our driveway. Within a day of calling they had fixed an appointment and come to work. I wish more companies were this responsive, professional and efficient.

Excellent work done to remove a large hedge and grind out stumps. Replaced fence also. Very happy with craftsmanship and service.

following storm Eunice three trees fell, across pur garden damaging a fence our shed and making the garden inaccessible. Fortunately Butlers were working next door and came to our aid. Within hours the trees were made safe and garden cleared in two days. Excellent and professional.

The team did excellent and rapid work on a tricky job to take out a mature ash tree in an established formal garden. To top it off they helped remove storm damage in some other trees. All done very professionally and respectfully of the garden and surroundings.

This has been a plesant experience with the transformation of a garden I used to enjoy, with the laying of patio and adding a bit of grass for the children I shall be able to enjoy my garden now for the rest of my life. The crew did a splendid job from the design team to the lads who were here doing the hard work, thank you. Recommend this team to anyone they were here a week and I now have a totally transformed space I can be very proud of.

Family run business. Always super efficient. Thank you for taking our Christmas tree away. Would highly recommend.

Very skilled tree felling with no damage to surrounding area of garden and very efficient clearing - would highly recommend.

Work completed as scheduled excellent result site left clean and tidy

Delighted with the service provided by GA Butler & Sons Ltd. Particular thanks to Luke who organised the project for us, and to Scott and Sam who carried out the work so efficiently.

Very happy with service we had from Butlers. Responded to all enquiries quickly. The Ash and Pine tree we had reduced I thought was a difficult job, but the guys made it look simple, highly recommend Butlers for you tree surgery needs.

We are very happy with the work carried out by Luke and his team at Butlers, they removed our extensive mature hedges in a single day, ground out the stumps and left us with a very neat and tidy garden to restock. A very efficient and friendly service. Thank you

Fence construction - excellent job. Job completed speedily.Workforce professional and polite.

Would not hesitate to recommend G A Butler - carried out removal of 2 dead trees located in very difficult/hard to reach places. G A were professional from start to finish and left the site very clean and tidy at the end of the day.

We had our hedges trimmed recently. Butlers did an outstanding job. Really professional and very well equipped. The guys worked non stop and cleared the area taking away all the clippings. Highly recommended for service and quality.

Fantastic job done by a really professional team. We are really pleased with fnecing and would definitely recommend.

Dan and his team have done a brilliant job. They assessed and prepared for the job really effectively. In 1.5 days they removed a huge confier hedge, raised bed, including removal of excess, moved a shed, and built a concrete base, all in a professional, careful manner. Quote was competitive, but i knew they had a lot of experience in this work, compared to others, which i gathered from the initial meeting with Luke. They were also kind enough to offer to concrete in a washing line for us, which was a gracious request. I have no hesitation in recommending them for any landscaping service!

A family run firm G A Butler & Son’s definitely know about service, quality and reliability. Luke Butler provided our quote, and when we changed our minds dealt with the request with the utmost efficiency and courtesy. The team doing the work turned up nice and early, polite and fully understanding what was required, 6-7 metres ‘trim’ of an oak tree. They dealt with making sure our neighbours properties had the minimum of disruption, and all commented afterwards about how ‘clean’ things were, considering the amount of work being done. We have used Butlers before, and will be using them again, the costs were extremely competitive, the work efficiently completed, and the team polite, friendly and got on with the job in hand. Highly recommended

Professional, efficient, polite, tidy and got the job done exactly as specified. No messing about or extended breaks! I might have expected the latter from two very young looking lads, but they excelled themselves and proved worthy of the days’ pay. I would definitely use Butlers again.

I rang to arrange a quote for some work. I was impressed that they could come the following day. The next day came and went and they didn't turn up. However they did mange to drive past the house twice during the day. No communications to say that they weren't coming. Update: They have now called me and apologised for missing the appointment and are now coming tomorrow to see about a quote.

The 3 man team arrived on Monday morning with trucks, lifts and diggers! The attacked my awful garden and by Friday it was completely transformed with dug out and laid patio, terraces and a large area of turf. Throughout they were pleasant and professional always making sure I was happy. I'm the envy of the neighbours with my transformed garden! Thanks so much, you're on the top list to recommend.

We had works on our oak tree this week and we have to say that from quote to completion we are very happy with the service that we received. The work was carried out by a very professional and friendly workforce who did not stop during the awful weather and finished the work over the two days to a very high standard. Would highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again.

Amazing service from start to finish. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

Very good - arrived promptly, were friendly, and did a good job. Would definitely recommend and will use again in future.

Very pleased with the service. The guys were polite. Also they were careful in the garden. They had a tricky job of cutting our hedges much lower and it was all done on time. Cleared up well after the job - thanks very much - great job!

We had Butlers round to replace an old gate, put in some new fencing at the bottom of our garden and clear and level a large area that had been overgrown since we bought the house. They were excellent as always! Friendly guys and the fences and garden look fantastic. We used Butlers previously for the removal of 2 trees last years and it looks like we will be repeat customers for some time to come :)

No worries. You load me with very good woodchip/compost 👍👍

What a professional team they are at Butlers. Safety, experience and skills at felling and removing our 200 year old, sadly rotten, Beech tree were top notch. So quick and so accommodating in returning the site to its previous condition, you’d never know the tree was ever there. We are so grateful to these experts and would thoroughly recommend this excellent company, impressively led by the Butler family.

Had very good service exactly in line with Quotation. Three guys carefully in stages took down a very large Poplar tree from our medium sized garden and sawed the usable branches to exact lengths we required for storage. All the brushwood was cleared away and shredded on site and apart from inevitable sawdust the site was cleared and just as tidy as promised. We were especially impressed with the sawing up of the very substantial main trunk. We have a smallish woodburner so I wanted it sawn to sizes that 1) were moveable ( its a very heavy wood) and 2) that I could split easily for logs. They achieved this exactly as discussed and checked through the morning with us so that the work was going as we wanted. Thoroughly impressed with the service and the safety and the clearing up afterwards. Worth the money. A job well done. Thank You.

Really pleased with the work that Butlers have done for us. They tidied up a couple of oak trees and removed a massive fir tree. The lads were professional and courteous and did an excellent job of tidying up after themselves.

I would thoroughly recommend Butlers - they did some tree surgery for me and also put up a 6 foot fence with concrete posts and gravel boards. They were punctual, polite and took great care, tidying up after themselves. They were also very considerate of our neighbour when putting up the fence which bordered the two properties. Thank you to the team at Butlers - great job!

What a great job your team did. Very good work and also very personable and helpful - they explained to us what was being done and why and also checked that we were happy with the finished work and clear up. Thank you.

A 100% professional landscaping job by Luke and his friendly team on a site with difficult access for some of the machinery. The precision and care that was taken both during the project and clearing up afterwards was impressive. We are delighted with the end result.

Efficient, proffesional and well priced.

Very efficient and reliable, came as arranged and left everything tidy. Would thoroughly recommend

Highly recommend - easily the best service we’ve had from a contractor for a home improvement! We are incredibly happy with the work the guys have done. We found them to be friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. We had a new fence, root barriers, raised beds and new turf. From the first meeting they helped to advise us on the best way to get what we wanted, providing quotes for different options and always being very responsive. We felt extremely confident in their judgment, which we relied on to help us make decisions throughout. They arrived on time and were completed in the time frame set out and also came in under estimate. They went over and above on many occasions, replacing a small tree we had planned to move due to its condition, and lending us boards to protect the lawn when we mentioned we had another contractor working on the house afterwards. We wIll definitely use again.

Took down a tree in our garden that was overhanging a road. Scheduled us in very quickly, price was extremely competitive and service was excellent with almost military precision, there was not so much as a piece of sawdust left behind. Thoroughly recommended.

If you want class service, professional craftsmen who love their work, turn up on time, offer sound advice, don’t come up with unexpected “extra costs” or “driveway tax” and happy to pay a bit extra (but very fair pricing) for their service, this company is the one to use. The team have carried out a very hard job with fantastic results. We had hedging (under exaggeration)! Cut back, Grounds work clearance, meters of Close board fencing with trellis - installed on a curve and a slope to perfection! hazel hurdles and sleeper steps fitted we are absolutely thrilled with the results. The team were great fun, listened and carried out exactly the vision we had. They did not stop the whole way through the project. Also if anyone is concerned ref Covid/shielding although obviously the works were carried out outside the team went over and above to stick to social distancing guidelines. Dan who coordinated our works onsite worked tirelessly, very polite with a splash of cheekiness and fun thrown in. All the Butlers team who worked on this have been professional and skilled at all times. Many thanks to Luke and the team.

Excellent work trimming back hard overgrown hedges and reducing height of trees. The Butler's team worked hard, did the job really well and tidied up perfectly.

G A Butler fitted gates, cleaned and re-pointed my terrace and built some raised beds. Very happy with their work - the team were professional, friendly and efficient. Great job!

Following a significant (excellent) clearance of overgrown trees / shrubs by Butlers at the end of last year, we decided to have some sleeper steps and path laid on a steep bank - the end result looks incredible, exactly what we visualised and initially discussed with Luke. Ricki and Levi, who laid the steps / path were fantastic, ensuring the end result was as expected - great job! I'm sure they'll be more work needed in the future and I won't hesitate to use Butlers again - highly recommended!

Amazing service! The men worked non-stop all day and left everything very tidy - we had some very large and difficult trees that were taken down to the stump so it was a long job which they managed to do in just a day. Couldn't have been better so book their services with absolute confidence as we highly recommend them!

Contracted for some landscaping works. Kind of 50/50 on the results. Shed, fence and gate all pretty tidy. Concrete works and turf shocking. Concrete didnt have correct fall so ponding water, they did agree to break out and relay but I elected to accept some drilled sweep holes. Turf is the lumpiest I have ever seen, really really poor workmanship. Very unhappy. I lifted the turf and relaid the worst areas before the roots took. Other areas have some pretty poor low and high spots. To be fair they are mainly tree surgeons not landscape gardeners.

An excellent job was carried out by these professional and experienced tree surgeons. 4 oak trees all with TPO's needed extensive work. They completed & filed all the paperwork to the correct authorities and permission was then granted to remove 2 trees completely and crown lift and shape the others. Neighbours are happy with how much light now comes into their properties and even had fellow villagers stopping and asking who did the excellent tree work. The whole job couldn't have been done better. I would highly recommend this company.

Yesterday a team of three men came from Butler's to remove a very overgrown fir tree on our behalf. I'd only booked them a few days before and so was very happy with their speed of action. They carried out the work so quickly and with hardly any mess, tidying as they went along. The men were so polite, friendly and super helpful. I would definitely recommend.

Very impressed with G A Butler, who removed a large chestnut. I had several quotes all around the same mark from different accredited tree surgeons and they came in slightly cheaper, so I know I got a good price for an accredited surgeon. The work was done very quickly, at the quote price, with no mess at all. Friendly, well priced, great job - couldn't really ask for more. Side note - they quoted 400 quid cheaper than a well reviewed but non accredited surgeon, so you're not necessarily going to get it cheaper going to someone without the paperwork!

They came out to my property to provide a quote for a tree report and work to cut back foliage from neighbours trees and I didn't hear back from them for 2 weeks. When I followed up I was then told he was on holiday (fair enough, but surely he should have said when he came out) . I then spoke to them again the following week and was promised the report would be done by the end of the following week. Another 2 weeks past, still no report or quote. When asked why this was, he said he had been too busy and couldn't commit to when this would be done. So in total it took them and wasted 5 weeks of my time for them to do absolutely nothing, despite promising to do the work, before eventually saying they couldn't commit to it. A complete waste of time.

Very helpful and quick service, many thanks

Great tree surgeon
