Peter came to do an on site survey and Mikey came to install our new hob. It was not an easy job as it was quite a tight fit and our island counter had to be cut to size. Mikey did an amazing job - he took great care with everything and made sure the finished job looked as good as new. Friendly and polite - he communicated with us all the way through what he was doing. Tidied everything up and even took all the rubbish away. Reasonable cost too - I would highly recommend.

We recently had P Blackhall Ltd carry out the installation of a new boiler and related electrical work. Some aspects of the work were not straightforward ,but the whole job was carried out efficiently and professionally. All the Blackhall employees ,who dealt with the work were pleasant and helpful and caused the minimum disturbance to our normal routine.All in all we would have no hesitation in using them again for similar work.

I contacted P Blackhall in Feb 2024 when my boiler suddenly broke. They were excellent, the pressure was on to get it replaced to ensure my home had heat during the winter months and the service they offered was first rate. Whilst I was on holiday, they fitted a new boiler and left my house in perfect condition. While this was a stress purchase the price was excellent. Could not recommend Stuart and his team anymore.

I had no power in my house and as my fuse board was 27yrs old couldn’t get the part required but the electrician I had in checking power was going on holiday next day Called P Blackhall Thursday morning and I had a new fuse board up and running by 5pm the same day From initial call to the works being done couldn’t have went better the electricians were friendly left no mess at all and I would not hesitate in recommending them

A total waste of time. An engineer came to see the job and said they would send us a quote in a couple of days. Several weeks, phone calls and promises later, we still haven’t got and estimate and we wasted weeks

First class service from P Blackhall Ltd after l needed their services following a partial power cut. Sean and Jay arrived on time, were friendly and polite and sorted the problem. On their advice l opted to upgrade the original fuse box and this work was scheduled and completed the following month. The price for the job was very fair and the standard of work outstanding. The workers were very tidy and cleared up afterwards. P Blackhall will take on small jobs as well as larger ones and provide advice as necessary. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

VERY BAD experience. Got this company out to repair a leaking boiler. Continued to leak after they had worked on it. Got them out a second time. Informed me they didn’t know what the problem was so couldn’t fix. Billed me anyway.Threatened a debt collector. I paid. Had to get second company in and pay them as well. Nightmare. Unhelpful, unprofessional and refused to take responsibility for their work blaming anything else they could. Wish I’d read all the reviews.

Hired them for a job which costed 25% more than originally quoted. After they carried out PAT testing of a washing machine, it flooded our flat before the job was completed. Remedial work or fair compensation was not offered. Better to avoid. Added after PBlackhall's response: The flooding was caused by the machine PBlackhall used. The device has worked flawlessly before and after the incident. The flooding damage exceeded £1500, I requested a fair compensation of £192 for cleaning our property and reconnecting the machine backed by receipts. The total cost of PBlackhall's awful job exceeded £2000.

Highly recommend this local Edinburgh company. They are very responsive via phone and email. Professional throughout and maintain a high quality of work. Very accommodating, especially if you require work done which is urgent or time sensitive. Will definitely recommend to others and will personally use P Blackhall again.

High school wynd 1 minute ago. Driver of a small van just hurtled down this narrow road whacking off my side mirror. I'm in a big van and had waited for traffic to clear before heading up there. Their idiot driver came round the corner and floored it.

Very expensive company. Ive used them "when desperate" for years for my letting agency. Recently used them for an expensive repair job. The pipe connection failed within 6 months. Popped off because they left electrical tape on the joint. What kind of company doesnt clean the connection work surfaces before installing a new product??? And now they denied responsibility even when they were the last people to touch it. In my world, that is not honourable considering my long time customer status.. so I'm giving them a bad review because they aren't worth the money they charge. You Lost a customer today.

The company charged 125 pounds for the engineer to come and turn off a switch, because his car was parked “on the site” for three minutes more than the first thirty minutes. Extremely rude and aggressive when I voiced my doubt, and based on the reviews, when other people voice their criticisms, too.

As ever, I am delighted with the service P Blackhall provide. They fixed a major electrical issue in our flat, as well as tackling several smaller jobs. Both the office staff and the electrician who did the job were professional, friendly and courteous. The work was undertaken quickly, to a great standard and charged very fairly. A great company to hire.

They'll shout at you on the first phone call. "I'm going to stop you there. I've had 50 phone calls this morning, and I've only got two engineers." I know you're stressed, mate, but you have a warm house to keep your kids in when they're sick, unlike me calling you trying to pay you to help me. Guaranteed I'll never call again, though.

P Backhall Ltd designed and installed a new bathroom in my flat, including replacement of an old water tank and hot water cylinder with a modern pressure system. The work was carried out on time and to a high standard. Derek the plumber and the other tradesmen were excellent and entirely professional. I am delighted.

Quick and efficient service for gas and electrical safety certification for a rented property

I had a washing machine and dryer installed in a hallway cupboard and needed drainage and water plumbed in. Ryan did an excellent job of plumbing in the new drain pipe and water supply. He was thorough and tidy as he worked and went above and beyond when setting up the machines. Really pleased with the work!

Appalled with the terrible experience I had with this company. The services manager was aggressive, rude and threatening. I had no problem with the engineer but the office manager was completely unprofessional and plainly horrible to deal with. The charging structure was excessive. I have since instructed a competitor who has been brilliant - efficient, experienced and pleasant

We recently had spotlights fitted in a number of rooms, they attended at agreed time and were friendly and professional throughout, they carried the work out in the agreed timescales and kept the rooms clean and tidy very happy with the service and results would recommend.

We had what can only be described as a persistent issue with one radiator in our home, several plumbing company's were tasked with resolving it and all failed completely. We then spoke with Blackhall Plumbing, the team persevered and the cause was uncovered (which was bizarre to say the least) the system now works perfectly. I can't thank the team enough (they didn't give up, which is what it takes sometimes) they will always be my first choice.

P Blackhall fitted my new smoke and carbon monoxide sensors and alarms in line with Scottish Government regulations. They did the work tidily and on time and were very pleasant to have around.

Never spoke to anyone THAT rude on the phone. I was literally discouraged from booking an engineer with phrases like: We are fully booked for 2 weeks, we have a few slots available for the rest of the year but we prefer to keep them for emergencies, this is a very busy time for us and we are understaffed. And to finish it all I was told: "Do you hear the phones ringing i the background??! I am here on my own and I lost 4 potential bookings while talking to you!!". Our call lasted 6 minutes.

I have used P Blackhall Ltd for boiler services a few times over the years. I found them to be really friendly and helpful going out of their way to help me out when I’d left it quiet late in the day to book my annual gas safety inspection. Our tenants confirmed they were also efficient, professional and friendly during the inspection. Yesterday (Saturday evening) I also had to contact their out of hours service as our tenants had reported issues with their heating. Gavin offered to make a call to our tenants initially to see if he could assist over the phone. He made the call then called me straight back and thankfully he was able to assist with a temporary fix over the phone to see the tenants over the weekend. I would highly recommend and will definitely be using them again.

I asked P. Blackhall to replace a bathroom tap and a shower soap tray. The work took around an hour to complete and they charged me £355.20 for the work. They brought the wrong tap (I had provided them with a list of taps more than once) and offered to return with the correct tap. I decided to go with their choice of tap. The second piece of work I contracted them to do was unfortunately cancelled at the last minute. They charged me £168 because preparation for the job had apparently taken two men two hours. The plumber on site can't have stayed for more than 10 minutes. I asked them to reduce this bill and they refused.

Very helpful and professional. The guys turned up early and stayed later to get the work finished in one day to minise disruption in my house. They are very respectful of your property and possessions while the work is ongoing. Would highly recommend, keep up the good work.

I would highly recommend this firm. Ryan was extremely helpful and professional in his conduct. His work was excellent, he took time to explain what he was doing, and despite having to lift carpets and a bit of the floor board, he left my house exactly as he'd found it. I couldn't speak more highly of him.

We'd just moved into a new property and the previous owners had recommended Blackhall who had installed and serviced the boiler for them. The boiler was in need of a service and there was a problem with the cold water tank that needed looking at. Was able to get an appointment booked in and Ryan attended to see to the work. Not only was he both very friendly and professional through out and thorough in the work, he had endless patience for my wide variety of questions. This covered not only the heating system as it was, but also on improvements we could make in future. More than happy to recommend Blackhall and will definitely continue to use them in future.

Simon at Blackhall's provided emergency repair work to a water pipe in my bathroom which had started to leak and flood the neighbour's flat below. He arrived promptly and quickly put a stop to the leak. He was polite and highly professional. Would recommend his services in future.

We had a long running problem with a slow filling bath. Gavin from P Blackhall Ltd identified a bespoke solution for us which was duly completed by him quickly and professionally. Very impressed with the manner in which the whole job was completed - would certainly recommend P Blackhall Ltd.

I've used Blackhalls many times and always been very happy. Most recently I needed a bathroom gutting for rot works and then reinstated. Ryan carefully explained the problems with the initial installation that had caused the rot, and made sure that in the end the shower screen fitted properly in the way it should always have done. The man just radiated a pride in doing a quality job and getting all the details right as if it was his own home. Communication for setting up times for the work was fast and easy. All tradesmen should be like this.

Really helpful to remove gas hob & cap and large kitchen sink & prepare pipework for new sink. Really pleased with service and would highly recommend. I needed some bits of plumbing repairs done in my house and having used P Blackhall before I asked them to carry out the work. Ryan and Derek were a credit to their firm. Dressed professionally in branded workwear they looked the part. The carried out the work diligently and courteously to the highest standard. The created minimal mess and cleaned up behind them and wore masks throughout the job. From quotation to completion, I was completely satisfied with the work and would recommend them to anyone who needs this type of work. Also, a local firm employing local people.

Decent service.

Boiler been dropping pressure for a while. Plumbers from other firms have tried things but to no avail. Ryan listened carefully to my account of all this, came up with a theory and found the leak within an hour. Part was ordered and fitted and problem solved a couple days later. Absolutely delighted with the outcome.

This company undertook two boiler services on the 16th March. Today on the 7th May we still don't have the gas safety certificate. As others have mentioned they will add a charge for PPE, which they don't mention in advance. On questioning the ppe charge, in response they have now decided they charged the wrong amount, and have amended the invoice up by £48. Engineer left the boiler leaking after service, which they barely seemed bothered to come back and fix in no hurry. Owner asked which oil boiler model, as they had to replace jets/burners as part of service. Absolutely no parts were changed during service.... The on site engineers seem good, but the management and organisation seems lazy and totally disorganised. Finished product will be ok, but don't expect anything from their office. I'm sure the owner will come back now and tell me I'm wrong......

The guy who came to do the work did a fine job, no issue there. I was really annoyed to discover additional charges on my invoice that were never mentioned during my call. Their phoneline states that staff will be using PPE equipment, but not that you will be charged for it. I asked them to remove the charge as when the costs were discussed there was no mention of this and they refused, they also doubled down and claimed that the charge was mentioned on their phone line even though that is demonstrably false. Not impressed.

Very professional from the whole team (Bobby, Derek & Simon) and stuck to all the covid protocols while carrying out essential works on our hot water tank and system. Highly recommend.

Tried to contact by e-mail multiple times to report a fault of Whirlpool jets that should be still under warranty. No reply whatsoever regardless of the fact that they automatic reply states that they are still working remotely and are able to reply to emails.

Blackhall had installed a new boiler for us when our 35 year old original needed replaced. Great job done, so two years later the old CH system needed some TLC as four radiators out of eight were not putting out sufficient heat. After I booked an appointment to have the boiler serviced and the system power flushed, Simon and Derek turned up bang on time. Simon serviced the boiler while Derek explained to me why a power flush of radiators of the old design wouldn't really work . However, by installing outlet valves at the opposite end to the intake ones, the through flow would enable them to be flushed. I agreed to the work and was pleased when they said the would do that and the flush cleaning that same day. Throughout the who;e process Simon and Derek worked away cheerfully and were pleasant company. The system is now functioning perfectly. I am pleased with the honest advice I was given a) that the flush wouldn't help without the extra work and b) I didn't need to replace any radiators. Grand job done by two friendly, trustworthy guys.

I've used PBlackhall for a few jobs now and I've been very pleased with their service. The people in the office are extremely helpful and kind on the phone. Gavin refitted a toilet in my bathroom recently. It was a tricky job as the previous people had installed the old one very badly, but he got all sorted and I'm very pleased with the work. Everything was also left very tidy.

I needed my boilers serviced quickly due to putting my flat on the market and Stuart arranged this for me and Ryan was out to service it within a few days. Ryan was very professional when on site and arrived exactly when he said he would. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone .

I’ve used Blackhall plumbing for a few years now but after a recent experience I won’t be using them again. Initially they over promised and under delivered meaning a new boiler, which I was told could be quoted for and, then, replaced within a few days ended up taking over a week. The only reason I went with them was because they said it would take a few days - they were more expensive than other quotes but it was the middle of winter and we were desperate. I did manage to get some money off the original quote, so if you do go with this company, haggle. Then, it was discovered that the system they had fitted wasn’t compatible with the underfloor heating that was already in place in the house. Basically, it wouldn’t work. They blamed us and we had to buy a whole new thermostat (after being charged by Blackhall for the redundant one and fitting) and get this fitted by someone else. Won’t be back.

Contacted Stuart to get some urgent electrical work done. Electrician was onsite next day and within hours I had a list of work needing done and quote to remediate. After agreeing to quote work was completed the same day. Couldn't be happier with service and will definitely use again.

The work was carried out at the desired time, by a polite, tidy, professional electrician who explained everything well. We had an old fuse box removed & an RCD box installed. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. After unsuccessfully diagnosing a problem after a 5 minute visit and offering no follow up expertise we were handed a substantial call out fee. Fine, have a call out fee, but at least attempt to follow up and diagnose further. Problem ended up being fixed for free by a gas meter reader. As you'll see from reading other reviews, every compliant has a shady response from the company, washing it's hands of any fault. Dreadful customer service and poor practical capability. I'd have literally rather thrown the money away than given it to incompetent professionals that take people for a ride.

I am really impressed by the service of Blackhall Plumbing - fast, friendly and they finally solved the problem of our endlessly running toilet! They diagnosed the problem quickly and correctly, mended our cold water tank and then found a rare part to fix our old toilet. This problem with the toilet had gone unsolved for years, with many plumbers trying and failing to mend the toilet, saying it couldn't be mended due to its age. So it's brilliant to have the toilet mended finally.

Had a fan fitted - it lasted exactly 1 year, 1 month. As it was literally just over the one year old and hence out of warranty they wanted to charge for it (giving a tiny reduction!!!!!) Blamed tenant, fan, anything except they had fitted a faulty fan. Wanted to charge double it cost to get another electrician to replace it when they should have done it for free considering I spent nearly £900 getting it fitted in the first place and fans should last longer than just over a year. Other fans I have had fitted are still going after 15 years (though not supplied and fitted by P.Blackhall obviously!!).Wouldn't ever use them again - they are incredibly expensive and also the finish of fitting a shower door was poor. Only noticed after I had said they had done a good job, which was annoying.

To be very Honest I cant understand the negative views!, I can comment that yes its daunting when you expect a Job done for a few £100.00 and the first comment is "How Much"!....But you said etc etc. I found Stuart and his team very Direct with a Professional approach and yes sometimes bigger emergencies take priority and things can change,but if you work with them they will work with you!.Overall my suggestion is people looking at the negativity and NOT THE POSITIVE REMARKS ! should just be very clear on instruction and understand all the costs on small job that can turn out to be a bit longer/Costly than you expected(Not the news that you want to here sometimes) but if Stuart can do it the most economic way he will give you the best options! Firstly, I'd encourage you to read other reviews. Mine is not unique. I wish I had. The employee who attended a problem with our heating barely tried to investigate the issue before quoting over £250 for something they weren't even sure was the problem (that of course doesn't include the call out fee which is almost double the price you can get elsewhere). The National Gas Service solved the problem in 30 seconds for free, even though the issue (simply turning a dial) had nothing to do with them! We never heard from them again to follow up until someone phoned us months later to pay for the extremely useless visit. To be fair they did send the invoice after the visit but their emails go into spam...but I was told that's my fault. When I asked them to review their fee due to the lack of expertise and inaccurate diagnosis observed, I was then sent a sarcastic and impudent email (I'm sure a response to this review will demonstrate what I mean). Fine if you don't have the skills, but to completely drop the ball on customer service, something you would think is essential for a successful service related business. Let me help here. This is how a simple, unoffensive response should have gone to my fee query "Sorry you didn't receive the invoice initially and I'm afraid we can't reduce the fee on this occasion as this is our standard call out fee. Please let us know if you have any questions." In summary, AVOID.

They charge without fixing anything and send you invoice for investigating. When we speak also they will justify their actions and rude on phone to pay for invoice. Even for this review they will reply saying they rite and will say they will never do any work with us. We have decided this couple of months when we asked them to come n fix our boiler. They gave a quote which is 4-5 times more than any other reputed companies. Really disappointed with their actions and service.

Definite scam artists! AVOID!! Came by to fix my boiler and it broke down again about 12 hours later. They tried to give me some cock and bull story about how my boiler was against regulations (I checked the regulations myself and what he said was not true) and tried to scare me into paying for over £1000 in repairs!! A couple days later I got a real plumber in to look at the boiler. The issue wasn't anything like what the people at blackhall plumbers said it was and the regulations scare was complete nonsense. Boiler was fixed in about 30min. All I had to pay was a call out fee. It's been fixed for 2 weeks now without any problems.

The only thing this company do worse than repairing boilers is replying to emails. Fixed a leak but caused the pressure to drop due to not testing the boiler when completed (despite being included on the invoice bill). Then charged a second fee for fixing the pressure issue on a second visit. Overpriced and terrible at replying to emails (sent 3 without reply). Go elsewhere.

So expensive!!!! Almost 4 times more expensive than other plumbers I have used. It cost me £528.00 to unblock a domestic sink, after that I went to another plumber and exactly the same job cost £137.00. Also the owner is quite aggressive if you question the bill, he had me in tears on one occasion and called me bitter on another! I think I might see a solicitor, its not fair that companies can exploit customers in this way!

Extortionate charge out rates £60 for first 30mins and that's before they fix anything - would criminal be too strong a word? Outrageous - will not be using these bully's again

Tried to charge me over 700 for unnecessary and unsuccessful work. This work partly involved them rectifying work they had done previously. When this didn't solve the problem (getting a shower pump to produce a decent water flow) they then produced another quote for work that would fix the problem. Still have not refunded me the 20% deposit for the unnecessary and unsuccessful work

Please beware of these charlatans! Arranged a call out for a simple plumbing problem which was fixed, but surprise surprise the plumber 'found' another problem, but amazingly did not have the right part. *Cue deep sucking of air through gritted teeth. He offered a return call out free of charge but when the bill arrived, a full hours call out had been charged. When I questioned this with the owner I got similar short shrift as other reviewers here....basically told to GTF. Lovely people.....

I have used Blackhall Plumbing loads of times, they deliver great service, arrive on time, keep me informed, do a great job at a fair price. They also do electrics which is great, they have just finished my first "buy to let" flat with all the required certificates. Cheers!

We had an issue on one of our contracted sites with solar thermal panels that had been smashed and damaged, we were struggling to find a contractor specialist prepared to look at the works, I made contact with stuart from blackhall who I had a very easy conversation with who understood what was required and was prepared to quote us on the works required. All works were completed as quoted with communication of what was going to take place and how, invoiced for the quoted amount and site were happy with the works and professionalism shown with carrying out the works. We would recommend and look to use Blackhall in the future!

Turned up on time. Very neat and tidy leaving everything spotless. Explained what had been done and demonstrated how things now worked. No mess, no bother and no hassle. A very pleasant change.

At 3pm (closing time) on a Friday, I phoned Blackhalls in floods of tears. My brand new washing machine was flooding my kitchen. Even although it was home time, Stuart Blackhall managed to arrange a plumber to be at my home within 15 minutes. The job was fixed within 3 minutes. The plumber was amazing and they really did save my day. Thank you for everything!

Douglas needs some serious customer & attitude readjustment training. Mind-blowing stuff from one of the owners; you'd think the Guy's on self-destruct mode.

After someone visiting and inspecting the work a quote was given to inspect damage. Invoice was a lot more. When i queried this i recieved a rant reply that clearly I unhappy with work so far therefore they will not be going ahead with further work. Appalling customer service from a cantankerous individual that clearly doesn't wish to be queried. Turns out the quote for the actual work was nearly 50% more than from other companies in area.
