Several people say NIBE engineers were friendly, courteous and explained the work clearly, with Steve named repeatedly for being polite, thorough and tidy. A training day on air source heat pumps was described as informative and engaging. NIBE Energy Systems Limited also faces repeated criticism: some reviewers say they could not reach technical support, were not called back, or waited weeks for parts and repairs while left without heating or hot water. One reported a warranty leak left unresolved and damage to their property, another said a new heat pump failed within 16 months with a refrigerant shortfall, and a third described a 78-page manual as vague and servicing as poor value. Some reviewers describe breakdowns, often soon after installation, and repairs they found expensive. Some said the app upgrade hid information behind a £25 yearly fee.

An accepted warranty fault, an ongoing leak and no effective route to resolution I invested in a NIBE air source heat pump, controllers and MVHR system. My experience of getting a leaking UKV 40 buffer vessel replaced under warranty has seriously undermined my confidence in their aftercare. For anyone considering NIBE, I would encourage reading the lower-rated reviews as well as the positive ones, particularly those describing warranty claims and aftercare. How a company responds when something goes wrong matters just as much as the initial purchase. NIBE’s engineer attended on 14 October, with the replacement vessel already on site, but did not complete the replacement. He told me he lacked the necessary tools and parts and indicated that he expected to return within 24–48 hours. Subsequent correspondence said another contractor needed to replace allegedly non-compliant fittings first. This requirement was not explained to me during the visit. Despite repeated requests, I still have no clear identification of which fitting is supposedly non-compliant, which standard it fails to meet or precisely what needs changing. The engineer’s report refers to British Standards, Kitemark and WRAS approvals without identifying a specific fitting or applicable standard. I was not shown the report during the visit or asked to sign or confirm its account. I received it after chasing, and its explanation differs materially from what I was told face to face. Had the requirement for another contractor been explained clearly, I would have arranged someone promptly. Meanwhile, almost two weeks after the visit, I have continued climbing into the loft daily to empty a bucket. The loft floor has sustained damage, the house temperature is dropping, and managing the leak has prevented us from going away over half term. I have a disabled mother and young children to consider. The most frustrating part is the inability to speak to anyone who can resolve matters. Repeated requests for a callback have not produced one. When I telephone, I am told I cannot be put through and must email. Replies then take between one and three days, without producing an agreed repair date. After I formally complained, I was told the line manager was on annual leave and the complaint had been escalated to the management team. That acknowledgement contained no callback arrangement, response deadline or immediate repair plan. Annual leave is entirely reasonable; the absence of an effective alternative route to resolution is not. I have now asked Enviro Heat to undertake the replacement because I cannot wait indefinitely. They have advised that NIBE will contribute £80 towards the £180 diagnostic charge and £150 towards the £250 replacement work. This leaves me facing a shortfall for an accepted warranty issue, despite following NIBE’s advice to use an approved partner. Equipment can fail. What is unacceptable is leaving a customer managing an active leak while repeatedly chasing explanations, callbacks and a repair plan. For essential heating equipment, accessible support and clear ownership should be basic expectations. In my experience, NIBE has fallen well short. I will update this review to reflect the eventual outcome.

We installed a NIBE S735 heat pump in our holiday let in October 2024, only for it to completely fail within 16 months. After months of poor performance and repeated concerns, NIBE engineers eventually discovered the system contained just 80g of refrigerant instead of the expected 420g. No leaks were found, indicating a likely defect present from manufacture. The fault resulted in loss of heating and hot water, emergency heating measures for guests, lost bookings, increased energy costs and significant disruption to our business as we closed the house while parts were sourced from Sweden. While NIBE repaired the system under warranty, they have refused to accept responsibility for the wider financial impact of a product that appears to have been operating below specification since installation, and refused to extend our warranty, which is already extremely short (2 years) for such an expensive unit! It's an extremely complicated system to set up and use as an average end user, and any adjustments continuously require NIBE engineer or installer intervention. For a premium product marketed on quality and efficiency, this has been a deeply disappointing experience. We have lost confidence in both the reliability of the system and NIBE's approach to customer care when serious faults arise. We are now stuck with what is likely to remain a faulty product (if leaks are present), no compensation for extremely stressful closure of our business and excessive running costs, and no apology. We are still waiting for NIBE to respond....but we're not willing to give up the fight! Please avoid this product as it's a headache you'd wish you hadn't invested in! Like us.

A great example of what service should be. Steve was friendly, polite, thorough , tidy. The service was completed on time and a full explanation of work done was given. Couldn’t ask for more. Tea with milk and no sugar !!
