A J Clacher Ltd

Extremely disappointed that Sam's company has left my elderly in-laws in such a predicament! The boiler they fitted leaks at the bottom and my in-laws have told me there is often a smell of gas! My in-laws have called more than once to get it sorted and the company have never come back to sort out the issues or the remainder of the job! They have been left bewildered and not sure what to do, or whether the issues will be fixed. I hope we can come to some arrangement to make this right, as it is a totally different experience to the reviews I see written before!

I had an issue with my oil boiler on a Friday and A J Clacher were able to get someone out to me before lunch time on Monday. They had the boiler working again within an hour and were very helpful with giving advice on other things we could do to improve reliability of the system.

Sam and his team go above and beyond in providing a professional and efficient service. They are prompt, do the job and tidy up but also take the time to answer any queries and offer advice when asked. They are so friendly and positive - it’s a pleasure to have them in the house. Highly recommend.

A really good firm who we can certainly recommend. We firstly had a leak at a joint where a copper and lead pipe met and they repaired that, then we decided to have the whole of the internal lead pipework replaced, which they did with no problem. The customer care was first rate and we will certainly use them again .

Would recommend. Excellent workmanship - floors up recently to replace clogged pipe work and now heating works a dream. Had them to replace my 20yo boiler 2 years ago at a very competitive rate. Friendly service and very reliable. 5stars.

Very helpful, efficient and effective. We have used them for years and they are always first choice.

Been using Clacher's for years now. Very efficient service on site and on the phone. When we've had emergencies; they have always been accommodating to customer needs. Highly recommend these guys for boiler services.

I have been using A.J. Clacher for my rental properties and have consistently received an excellent level of service. As a landlord, compliance is critical, and they ensure all necessary checks and certifications are kept fully up to date, giving me complete peace of mind. They are proactive in advising on regulatory requirements and always communicate clearly about what is needed and when. Throughout the year, they also handle maintenance efficiently and professionally. Issues are dealt with promptly, workmanship is of a high standard, and tenants are kept informed, which reflects well on me as the landlord. Reliable, knowledgeable, and responsive — I would highly recommend A.J. Clacher to any landlord looking for a dependable gas safe, heating and plumbing services company.

Amazing company, highly recommend. Used for many year and wouldn’t use anyone else. The service and response to fix a problem is the fastest service ever. Always friendly polite. Can’t thank you or praise this company enough

We have used A J Clacher Ltd for many years and they have always been extremely reliable, professional and most importantly do an excellent job. From boiler installation and service , general plumbing work and a complete, beautiful new bathroom last year. Would highly recommend.

A very reliable company with a professional attitude who have always impressed with their knowledge and 'can do' attitude

Anthony from Clacher's services our boiler every year. Always very helpful and efficient :-)

Oil fired boiler Excellent team at installation and for the annual service. Good all round Thank you

They managed to squeeze in my minor emergency job in, before we had guests arriving, which was a huge relief. The job was completed very professionally and they cleaned up the whole area.

The AJ Clacher team are great. They have attended 2 emergency situations for me over the last 12 months and promptly and efficiently dealt with both as well as carrying out my annual oil boiler service and some plumbing upgrades. Thanks to the team for providing a really professional and reliable service.

AJ Clacher superb quality workmanship and the lads went the extra mile to complete the job . Special thanks to Harry, and Duncan.... Cannot recommend this company enough.

Clacher have been quick to respond and good at communicating. This was especially helpful when they fixed a faulty boiler when we were away but guests were in the house potentially with no heat or hot water. Also another occasion when the bottled gas supply failed when we were on holiday.

A great first experience of this firm when the engineer came to service my oil boiler Professional friendly and I will continue to use them in the future

Called out to replace a defective electric shower in our holiday let. Prompt service, sourced a good replacement unit, supplied and fitted all without disruption to our customers. Another good job by this company.

Excellent and professional service. Promptly carried out in an emergency situation. Highly recommended.

We recently had a new domestic oil tank installed at our home and were extremely impressed with the entire process from start to finish. The product itself is of excellent quality, and the installation team maintained clear communication throughout, keeping us fully informed at every stage. They provided clear guidance on the expected levels of disruption so we could let our neighbours know in advance, which was much appreciated. The team was professional, polite, and worked with a strong focus on safety, using bollards around vehicles and equipment to ensure the site remained secure. The quality of the work and finish was outstanding, and the installation was completed on time and on budget. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the service and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a reliable and professional installation.

Excellent, professional, friendly and reliable. Have used Clachers for more than 15 years for all plumbing and heating repairs, installations and everything in between and will continue to do so.

This is an outstanding company on so many grounds. First and foremost is because the family run business is so customer focused and incredibly reactive if a customer has any problems with their boilers. For instance, we run a small business and had 10 clients staying when our boiler refused to start. The company came out on that same day to repair it and provided hot water for our guests. Such care for customers is very rare today and I cannot recommend AJ Clacher more highly.

We have now used Clachers several times and found their whole ethos excellent. Site visits were carried out, followed by an email confirming the quotation. The team turned up as arranged, worked diligently and were considerate and respectful of our home, and tidied up when they had finished. Absolute professionals who delivered work of the highest standard. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I've used AJ Clacher Ltd for over a decade. All the plumbers, heating engineers and Gill in the office are friendly and professional. Will continue to use them for boiler fitting and servicing and any plumbing jobs in the future. Highly recommended. J. Stephenson

I have used A J Clacher for many, many years for all my plumbing and heating needs. I have always found them to be very professional, thorough and reliable in all that they do. They offer good value and high quality work. I have no hesitation in recommending them and their work.

A J Clacher have looked after our boiler and heating system since we bought our house in 2017. Their service is professional and reliable and the team are both extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to have in the house. When we have had an emergency, they have been very quick to respond, and nothing ever seems too much trouble for them. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Great company and lovely staff, always do a fab job!

Fixed an oil boiler the insurance company couldn’t repair. Excellent service.

I have used AJ Clatchers for boiler services, gas checks and plumbing repairs for my rental properties and have always been impressed with their professionalism in handling the appointments, advice and reminding me when gas checks are due but also in the standard of work done. They are a pleasure to deal with and I can thoroughly recommend them.

I have been a customer of A. J. Clecher for many year, which is a testament to their friendly, professional and excellent service. They’ve serviced my oil fired boiler, which is a bit more technical than a gas one, replaced my oil tank, installed a new outside boiler and attended whenever I’ve had any concerns. . They are a family business, and as such, provide a more personal service.

I’ve used Clachers for my central heating and plumbing work for many years, as my parents did before me. They are an excellent firm to deal with, with very good admin staff and engineers who are a pleasure to have in my property. I’d recommend them to anyone.

We have used Clachers for many years. Boiler replacement, boiler servicing, and new radiators - all work is carried out promptly and the team are exceedingly courteous and professional. Would highly recommend Clachers.

I can rely on AJ Clacher for top quality work. They have advised and installed a new oil boiler for me and helped with a bathroom refurbishment and plumbing. Six years later, they maintain my system each year. Reliable, knowledgeable and high quality work. I will use only use AJ Clacher for plumbing and heating.

Needed a heating engineer pretty urgently- Clacher could not have been any more helpful and professional. Highly recommend!

Waited over three weeks for a watersafe plumber to call. Upon arrival, they "needed to speak" to someone else and said they would get back to us. They duly did, saying they could not assist as we needed both a builder and a Waterboard Contractor. Totally incorrect. Another local watersafe plumber completed the full job in less than two days, undertaking all the work themselves, withouth either of the aforementioned. On the strength of this, we cannot recommend this company, as clearly they did not understand the requirements or the methodolgy.

Simply the Best! We have used Clacher's for years. We always get outstanding service and sensible discussion of issues. We would not even think of going elsewhere. Our oil fired boiler broke down on on the freezing and snowy morning of Sunday 5th of January. We contacted Clachers on the Monday morning as they reopened for business after the Christmas break. They got back to us within the hour, Sam turned up and fixed the problem by mid afternoon!. Absolutely outstanding service!!!

Excellent service and a very impressive call out record. We live up a remote, long, single track lane in Upper Swaledale. They even came up in deep snow when it was -15oC - within 3hours of my phone call! Can't recommend highly enough.

AJ Clacher were fully booked for about 3 months when I initially called. They took My details and I told them when we would like to book for, and, as promised, they called when they were ready to book me in. Arrived on time, lovely to deal with, will use again and highly recommend. Thankyou

Very good service. Friendly, Professional, Expert knowledge on all things to do with water, gas or oil. Brilliant.

Prompt and excellent service and very helpful staff. Highly recommend.

A trustworthy, reliable and professional firm. We have used Clachers for many years - including a major re-modelling project. Excellent and caring service with lovely team.

The AJ Clacher operative gives you confidence he knows what he is doing. As he also fitted the boiler 12 years ago, he knows it’s history which is also comforting.

A.J.Clacher's staff are always friendly and prepared to go the extra mile to solve your problems. They have a real old fashioned sense of customer service. I thoroughly recommend them.

Attended promptly on time Very professional, Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Extremely pleased with the work they carried out on a radiator issue within my en suite.Checked the boiler and run the central heating system to check that all was working as it should. Very tidy. Would certainly recommend.

Great company. Fitted a beautiful bathroom for me. Their young lad ,Harry, who did most of the work, is just amazing. They organised the electrician, the joiner, and the plasterers. All I had to do was keep them refreshed with a cuppa every now and then. Thanks, Clachers! 10/10.

Very professional and easy to work with

What a brilliant company- first we had to ask them to fix another plumber’s mistake, which they did without hesitation. The way they dealt with that meant we also asked them to replace the whole boiler system. Turns out we had to make this an emergency when the old boiler packed up, all of which Clachers took in their stride and got us sorted in super fast time. Ladies in the office are amazing, we now have them contacting us to arrange services for the new boiler so I don’t even have to think about it!! Thanks so much to all the team. Highly recommend.

Anthony arrived on time with a smile on his face. We engaged in a number of conversations relating to all sorts. He completed his tasks smartly and listened carefully to what I would like a quote for, and reassured me that all was well with my boiler. A smashing young man.

We had an issue with our oil boiler and Sam from AJ Clacher came out almost immediately and resolved it. He was very pleasant, polite and professional. Excellent service, thank you.

Bill and Sam worked late to get our central heating functioning again. When you see A J. Clacher’s van draw up you can be certain that your plumbing/heating problems will be solved by cheerful efficient technicians and in our case this is for over 35 years.Thankyou.

Very friendly staff and excellent service from them. They went the extra mile to sort the problem out for us. A**

Delighted with the service from Clachers.

Excellent professional service. Have used twice for issues with water pump and water tank. On both occasions the engineers were on time, polite, friendly, capable and efficient. Problems and solutions were clearly explained. Highly recommended.

Phoned Clachers to ask them to remove and cap a gas fire, which was in aid of a pigeon rescue (needed doing prior to the sweep going behind it), they booked me in as quickly as possible (after we were let down by other large gas firm), the guy that came was great and found himself in a unique situation to say the least! Worked well with the sweep to save the bird (which had been stuck for over a week!!). Not all heroes wear capes. As so impressed with service I have asked for a shower installation too! Local firms are underrated! Would recommend this firm, everyone I sook to were professional, helpful and saw the lighter side!!!

I cant recommend this company enough. As soon as there was a problem with my boiler they were out very quickly. The engineer was very professional. Once he found the problem he explained it very clearly and talked me through what needed to be done. My boiler is now working fine. They are excellent value for money. I will use them every time as they are open and honest and do a fantastic job.

Installed new bathroom and done several repairs. Excellent service throughout process. Helped elderly neighbour when boiler broke down recently. Responded quickly to emergency and advised of new boiler, which they will replace in days. Trustworthy, reliable firm. Have recommended to others.

Noticed that I had a leak on my heating oil supply pipe, Clachers responded within a couple of hours, I have used them on more than one occasion and always find them professional, friendly and willing to help in an emergency. Highly recommended for plumbing /heating issues.

Fantastic service! Arrived right on time, promptly assessed the faults and repaired immediately. Very knowledgeable and skilled engineer was happy to help and give valuable information about the problems, cause and the fix. Arranged for a second visit to replace water cylinder with a modern insulated and efficient unit, Clachers did a lovely job with very tidy pipe routing and left the area completely clean and tidy. 110% recommend, really good service and the engineers are a credit to the company. Thank you.

Excellent service and great value. My elderly parents lived in Darlington for many years and Clachers always dealt with problems quickly and with great care and sensitivity, which was great peace of mind for me. Great company. Highly recommended.

Contacted A J Clacher when my boiler started leaking as I could not get hold of my usual plumber. They came out same day and got me back up and running. I then had my boiler serviced off them at a later date and about a month after that had another issue with my boiler which they again sorted same day I rang to report it. Everyone I have dealt with has been really friendly, helpful and professional. Would highly recommend.

Only came across this great firm fairly recently. Such a find! Far more than a routine plumber. They have such knowledgeable, well trained, pleasant staff, who all seem more than willing to help and advise, rather than just perform the task requested. We have been delighted with all of their work and will certainly use them again when we need to. Highly recommended.

work carried out professionally with out any fuss. Also have used the firm for several years to carryout tthe sevice of our old boiler. 5 Star service at all times.

This morning I had to contact Clachers first thing as my 91 year old uncle had his gas supply cut off by the gas board over the bank holiday weekend due to a leak. My first point of contact was Jill in the office who was so helpful and friendly and understood the urgency of the problem. She called me back to let me know that an engineer would be out today and in fact he arrived at 10am. The leak was quickly identified and sorted within an hour. As I live in Whitley Bay I was extremely grateful for their quick response and I now have a very warm uncle again. Thank you so much everyone at the company, my uncle has used you for years and yet again you didn't let him down.

Couldn't help us with our leak , they were too busy ! Not really their fault

AJ Clacher's never fail to provide excellent service and sound advice. We would never use anyone else. They clear up and tidy up after themselves and do really neat work.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Clachers. They have just installed a new CH boiler and oil tank for me plus done a number of smaller add on jobs. I have been using them for several years. Extremely knowledgeable, efficient and hardworking with a fair price. I love that they support an apprenticeship scheme too.

Great service as ever! Used them for 6 years. Highly reliable and trusted!

Exceptionally efficient, helpful and courteous - they always go the extra mile. I have used this company for nearly twenty years and they always do the job with the minimum of fuss - nothing is too much trouble for them. Highly recommended.

Always a good job done by good tradesmen

Possibly the best of the best. Super efficient, very professional and caring company with a committed and dedicated staff. Use them every time for any plumbing or central heating issue.

I have dealt with this company for 5 years with them working on my own home and let properties. Work has included getting hot water working out of hours, gas safety checks on let houses, replacing boilers and installing new outside taps. All the staff have been well turned out and polite, the work has been excellent with all mess cleaned up and I have never had a nasty shock with a bill. They deal directly with my tenants when needed and go the extra mile. A proper, trustworthy organisation.

Two great young lads turned up to check the job I wanted ..polite and friendly .I needed job doing quick few days later the young plumber turned up ...clean efficient worker again friendly ...job completed no hasstle just how I like it ...2 Nd time I've used this company ..

Bill advised us on an outside oil boiler, which we went ahead with, and is superb, efficient and space saved indoors. He was honest, polite, efficient and on time, exactly as pledged. We would absolutely recommend this excellent family business, they are busy, because they're reliable and the best!

Approximately fourteen years ago I was looking for a plumbing and heating company that had the skill, professionalism, and integrity to carry out both installation and maintenance work on a number of properties. From large oil fired boiler houses to individual domestic heating systems; bespoke bathrooms, domestic kitchens and work in listed buildings, my job was made a whole lot more straightforward thanks to Bill and his team of skilled engineers. I have now moved on, but the relationship still remains, A J Clacher Ltd keep me warm and safe in my own homes. I wouldn't consider any other company and routinely recommend them to my friends.

AJ Clacher have serviced and maintained a complex heating system in a large property for me for many years. Bill and his team are very experienced, polite and courteous and excel as heating engineers. I would highly recommend them to anyone looing for a reliable heating engineer.

Until now I have never written a review about Clachers but I realized earlier today that it is more than 20 years since I first asked Clachers to attend to a plumbing issue at my home. They were great then and they remain so now. I get a friendly welcome when I ring their office and someone will always get back to me if it is necessary to do so. They have worked on my ongoing boiler problems, extension work and decaying pipework. In short they have helped to keep my home ticking over during the past two decades. I trust people to be honest and truthful and I can say that everyone from Clachers has been just that. I'll not use anyone else

A.J. Clacher were highly recommended to me when I moved to the area 7 years ago. They have maintained our gas boiler and completed all our plumbing and heating work ever since - and I couldn't be more delighted with the standard of their work. From the initial contact with their administrator to work carried out by their engineers, their efficiency, prompt service and overall professionalism cannot be faulted. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a first class company.

We recently had a burst pipe and Sam turned up really quickly and sorted it out within an hour. I couldn’t recommend this company highly enough.

Clachers have looked after our boiler for 15 years as well as sorting out numerous other issues. They’re always prompt and professional and I know many other people in the Darlington area who wouldn’t use anyone else. They’re the best

An exceptional family run business who have serviced and maintained my fathers central heating for over 40 years.Very reliable.efficient and friendly

Had our en-suite changed by a local company and had on going problems for 18 months so we decided to ask a j clackers to come and have a look They did a great job and were very professional ..Job sorted Thanks

Bit disorganized

Clachers have done a few jobs on the house. Work always good, prices were fine for both works and materials and they followed up well with some additional questions I had. Will continue to use as and when needed.

After many years of putting up with me telling them to keep my beyond-repair Baxi working (including late night and weekend call outs in all weathers) I’m sure they were delighted when I decided to have my boiler replaced by them last month. The price estimate was accurate, the time estimate was accurate. The chap who came to do the job was polite and respectful (cheers Jack!) and even had the sense to decline my tea. I was extremely worried at one point to see a large chunk of brickwork missing from the outside kitchen wall and convinced myself I’d be needing to get the builders in to sort that out, but I turned my back for half an hour and the hole was seamlessly patched with new (matching) bricks. The recommended Viessmann boiler is totally up to the job at hand and talks to my smart thermostat in a way my old one didn’t meaning I’m likely to save even more money in the long run. The guy from Clachers even hung around while I spoke to the thermostat manufacturer to sort out some wiring queries. All in all a very positive experience.

Clachers have been installing or servicing our central heating system for several years. We are not on mains water so its sometimes a bit tricky, and they manage the plumbing with professionalism, attention to detail and excellent service. I would highly recommend the company.

We can't speak highly enough of Clacher's workmanship, or professionalism, they work to a very high standard using top quality materials and they are extraordinarily tidy and limit any disruption to the tiniest amount. They have worked on our old house installing a boiler and new house replacing the heating system which is unbelievably efficient, and all the staff are very pleasant people to work with. For the record we are no relation to anyone working there. Victoria and Ian

Rip off company over charge and as they work on a half an hour basis they stay in the house as long as possible to get as much money as possible stay well clear
