We had an issue with our garage door .Rang the garage door man he came around and said it would take a couple of weeks to order the part which was broke. As soon as the part arrived he came and fixed our door . He was very polite and provided a great service . Very happy that my door is now fixed would recommend and use again
So just before Christmas my garage door finally became to difficult to actually shut, it had jumped it's rails, rollers had disintegrated, the door itself has seen better days. I decided that finally I needed to do something. I went back to my quote from the garage door man 2.5 years earlier, and emailed to find out if the quote would still be valid or if he could be quote, I figured the price would go up. I was told he would need to be survey the door, he could do a Tuesday or Wednesday, no problem I've said I work from home let me know when your heading over, a no show, I chase, and also ask on lead times if I choose to go with them. Nothing... I chase. I question if he wants the work. Only to be told that clearly I am not happy with him and I should go elsewhere. Well I did. They're with VAT price was £20 cheaper than garage door man's without VAT price. So literally 20% cheaper, they were responsive and fitted the door in 4 days. I also got another quote which was also around the same. So 2 local companies both around 20% cheaper and both polite and responsive. I'm sure this guy's work is likely good, but I'll never use him.
Very expensive. Quoted £130 for two new cables and garage door 'service'. Took 20 minutes. Then said needed to include VAT, which he hadn't before, £156. Not very happy. Hourly rate of well over £300 per hour. Difficult for me to understand the good reviews on here. Either I got charged a much more expensive price than others or something is wrong. With regard to the response, below which I'm not sure how to reply to other than to edit here, on the surface that seems fair enough doesn't it. But the reality is I wasn't informed about VAT upfront, and a lot of businesses do not charge it. I think it is the responsibility of the business to be clear about the charges in full. Secondly I was charged £40 for two wires only, which I think is very high. Thirdly although the service promised a full door service, the handle was not sorted out properly and I was simply advised to find some heavy duty glue and do it myself. In addition I would point out many people do in fact work for £20 and hour and much less, and they make ends meet somehow. But in any case there is a great deal of difference between charging £156 for 20 minutes work and a reasonable hourly rate for a business of this nature. I do think you are being disingenous with your reply. I don't want to be provocative but this equates on standard 40 week to an income of £600,000 per year for one operative. How many nurses could be paid with that, and do you really think that is a reasonable rate for garage door repair? I don't think so.

Called garage doorman this morning, came out same day, renewed cables and adjusted, very polite, quick, good quote that saved a fortune on a new setup. Brilliant company, 100% recommend. Update - returned to do a minor adjustment, door now operates better now than it ever did over the years l have had it (inherited when l bought the property) Thank you Mr Garage Doorman.

Had an emergency when my garage door decided to get stuck and jammed called the garage door man and explained what happened He came straight over 19:30 on a Saturday evening he helped with getting the door operational again and offered advice on future maintenance The guy is an absolute diamond !! There are not many people left in the world like this. I rang to request a maintenance visit but after explaining the problem with my doors I was given an immediate diagnosis of the issue, which I then managed to fix in minutes. Top top service
On the basis of one good turn deserves another, I’m posting this review to say a big thank you to The Garage Door Man. I recently had issues with my father’s electric garage door not opening or closing properly, I couldn’t find out who installed it to ask for help, so I googled and found The Garage Door Man, and noticed he has a five star reputation. Deservedly so too; I called him, explained the issue and he immediately came up with a most likely diagnosis of the fault. No “I’m going to have to come and have a look”, no hard sell, no mention of call out charges or the like, just good advice clearly based on knowing his trade well. After giving the advice, he cheerfully suggested calling again if that didn’t work, and he’d help further. One battery replaced in a part I had no idea had or needed one, and the door is back to working perfectly. From now on, anything goes wrong with the garage door, he will be my first and only port of call. So thank you Garage Door Man, one happy customer who hasn’t even been a customer yet, but absolutely won’t hesitate to be one in the future.
What a fantastic and honest company, had a problem with our garage door and had 2 companies come out before this gent wanting to charge £100's to replace the door, then this guy pulls up and straight away said the door can be easily fixed and no need to replace saving me £100's, done the job, perfectly I must say and had it done in no time. Excellent service and workmanship, had an emergency with my garage door, the cables broke and was stuck fully open, so panicked as going away in a couple of days, phoned about 10.30am and he came out that same afternoon, cables renewed plus a couple of other minor work and now all is fine and works better than it ever did.
Nice chap. Answered my call, actually called me back as promised and arrived as arranged! Also gave me options on the repair of my door, saving me a bit of cash until it dies completely.

Dan fitted an electric door operator to work my wooden garage doors about 5 years ago. A very good and reasoanbly priced service. Since then then adjustment had slipped which is normal. I phoned him yesterday and was fearing a £50-£100 call out charge but he very kindly talked me through the process on the phone free of charge and hey presto, they work perfectly again! This was really good after-service.
Fantastic service, phone up and with 2 hours the garage door was fixed. Excellent job with a fantastic price. Highly recommended
