Liam and his team did an amazing job on extending our current front patio. The paving stones match perfectly and blend seamlessly together. The quality of work is excellent! I cannot recommend First Light Landscaping highly enough.

First Light did an incredible job transforming our new build garden into a much more usable, beautiful space. From the get-go with Sammy, she really saw our vision and brought it to life with the initial design plans, advising us along the way on what would and wouldn't work. What really stood out was that at no point were we pressured into using them for the actual build. But you could tell they were all experts and genuinely passionate about what they do, so it was a no-brainer. Neal talked us through all the practical side of things and answered our many questions with so much patience and Liam the Director even popped over before work started to have a chat and clarify some points. The landscapers then came in and transformed everything. It was a classic new build situation, the ground was all manner of levels and bumpy, so there was a huge amount of levelling work to do, and they handled it all seamlessly. The whole thing was incredibly well organised with no delays at all, all materials and machinery arriving exactly when needed. The guys started early every day and worked through all manner of weather to get the job done to a very high standard, always cleaning up at the end of the day. The attention to detail was impressive too, to the point of making sure the gaps between the paving slabs were as even as possible. They also thoughtfully arranged for a portable loo on site, so they didn't need to come inside the house at any point, which was really considerate. We worked with Sue on the planting design and she was clearly just as passionate about her craft. She took the time to really understand what we wanted. Not only did they create a great entertaining space at the back, they also gave us a new drive at the front and a private side garden, which has made the whole property much more usable and attractive. We'll definitely be using them again for the next phase of the garden. Only piece of advice is to look after them and offer plenty of drinks, they work really hard. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

From the very first conversation, First Light impressed us. Neal took the time to really listen to what we wanted, working with us to refine the designs until they were exactly right - nothing felt rushed or off-the-shelf. We were unfortunate to have someone crash into our garden wall, but the lads at First Light have done an incredible job restoring it back to the original state, which was really important to us. On top of that they even sorted us out with a gorgeous new gate as the stone had shifted and broken our old one. They were great from the moment we first called. Cannot recommended them enough.

From start to finish we were delighted with our choice of First Light to replace our rotting wooden raised beds with beautiful, reclaimed stone ones. Liam was helpful and insightful throughout, understanding our requirement to respect the existing design, complement the sculptural elements in our garden and provide us with a long-lasting alternative for our six large curved raised beds. Communications were prompt and clear. Matt and Chris who completed the work were punctual, efficient and considerate, tidying up carefully at the end of each day. We were impressed by Matt’s skilled stone masonry and by the way he and Chris worked together. They were a delight to have around and always kept us informed of progress and involved in decision making. The new raised beds are beautiful and we look forward to many years of productive enjoyment.

We have just had a garden design and fit for both the front and rear garden. The standard of work has been exceptional and the teams involved were second to none. Polite, friendly, appreciative and damn hard workers in all kinds of weather. Their attention to detail was impecable and they always cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. They have created us a stunning outside area which is an extension of our home and we can't wait to sit out there in tthe summer (with any luck). We really can't thank them enough and we would 100% recomend them if you are thinking of changing your outside areas.

FirstLight implemented a garden design for us in January 2026. The work was carried out mostly by James and Ian with Louie as Site Manager who also got heavilly involve in implementing the work. We also occasionally had Milo and Murphy on site helping out. The work lasted four weeks and was carried out professionally, and despite almost constant rain, in an enthusiastic manner. Either Louie or James kept us up to date with progress and asked regularly if we had any questions or concerns. They also suggested minor tweaks to the design as the work was carried out and that we were grateful for. These guys know what they are doing and any advice they give will be well founded by experience. Overall, we were very impressed with the on-site work and are glad that we chose FirstLight with the task of implementing the design.

Really happy with First Light - great communication throughout to develop a full design and split into 2 phases. All of the guys on site throughout were incredibly professional and helpful and the outside space has already been completely transformed at the end of the first phase. Would highly recommend.

We were recommended First Light Landscaping by some close friends, and they did not disappoint. From our first meetings with Sammie the designer and Neil to discuss our ambitions for a relatively small but oddly shaped garden, they were brilliant. Great team and fabulous result . Would definitely recommend. I have wanted my awkward garden landscaped for 12 years so it was always going to be a huge decision to get a full garden remodel . Having spoken to other landscapers, many were put off by the difficult access and awkward site. There were suggestions of cranes and ultimately we were let down by another large local landscaping company. When Firstlight came on board, they easily resolved all access issues in a simple and straightforward way. They were very clear on what was included in the contract and when payments were due. The team on site were enthusiastic and polite. They always left the site tidy and secure. Jake was always available so the plans could evolve as we went along. Jake was happy to tweak things ( even right at the last minute) . They always were clear on what the extra costs were. They are real perfectionists and that shows in the quality of their work. Thanks to James, Dave and Ross for their attention to detail. It is great that Jemima is a constant point of contact in the office which you don’t always get with other firms. It was a really big project, but I had complete confidence choosing Firstlight since they did a fantastic job.

Firstlight Landscaping created us a garden from what was originally a tarmacked and garaged area at the rear of our house. Neal was our initial contact, measuring the area and providing us with 2 alternative designs in a glossy booklet. We chose the design we preferred, and then the rest of the team got into action when an appropriate timeslot became available. We had a shed erected first, so that the contents of the garage could be transferred before being demolished. Liam & Dave did the demolition and excavation and removed all the debris in preparation for the construction. Dave and James were there constantly during an 8 week period with a bit of Mario thrown in. Working non stop from the time they arrived until they finished for the day, always tidying up before they left. The result was a carbon copy of the design and has provided us with a beautiful secure space at the rear of our property. Throughout the build, they updated us with what they had planned for the week and each day, and welcomed our input into tweaks along the way. The whole team were respectful to us and the neighbours on our street and we are delighted with the end result. FirstLight Landscaping are a good company to work with when you're looking for a competent landscaping company that can project manage really well. We were looking to refresh the garden, as how we use the space is functionally different than the previous owners of our home. With FLL's designs (via Neal), we were able to discuss and alter them as often as we needed. When we eventually got to the work actually beginning (on Liam's side), their team were really flexible, and allowed us to add or change things in the design when we realised other needs for the space. Also, Ian and Rich, who worked on-site for the duration of the project, were lovely people who did great work, and knew a lot from their own experience, that helped inform when there were potentially better design choices. Overall, FLL are a trustworthy company, and I'd be happy to use their services again if the chance came up.

Had a Summer House Base put in the back garden by Liam's team at very short notice. Not the best of the weather for this type of work, but sorted it quickly and without any drama, even though we had the first snow of the year! Top team and would recommend that you give them a call.

FirstLight Landscape Ltd did a fabulous job in our garden. They were friendly, professional, helpful and really tidy in their work. They took time to make sure everything was how we wanted it and we are delighted with the results. We had James and Murphy in for two weeks (with Liam supervising) putting in some raised decking in the back garden. They were extremely considerate of us and our neighbours at all times, and kept us fully informed about the progress of the work, even when we didn't ask. Our garden has restricted access so some of the aspects of deliveries were complicated but this was handled seamlessly. Their quality of work is very good and they involved us when decisions needed to be made, giving advice but leaving it ultimately up to us. They left the space incredibly tidy when they left, and it looks like we have a completely new garden! They were one of the best contractor teams we've had working on the house.

We live in Rawdon. We replaced the patio around the front, side, and back of our house. Also, built a new walled flower bed parallel to our drive, repaired an old wall surrounding our front lawn, and re-turfed our front lawn. Really pleased with the whole First Light Team from design to construction and after care / admin. We had up to 5 workers on site at times. All the lads were very professional, polite, respectful, tidy, timely, and skilled. The end product is of a high standard including man hole covers and various intricacies around the steps up to our house, and elsewhere. Louis the site manager regular checked if we had any questions and was easy to work with. Overall highly recommended.

We are so pleased that our landscape gardener recommended FirstLight Landscaping to be our contractors. They liaised very well and had some excellent suggestions to tweak aspects of the plans, to which they were working. The team did a fantastic job in very difficult conditions, as the ground was often very waterlogged. We appreciated the time taken each day to communicate with us, to check we were happy and to inform us of their next steps. Their care of our property (wheelbarrow loads of soil and rubble, concrete and stone paving all had to be brought through part of the house) and how they cleaned up every day was outstanding. First Light have recently completed landscaping our front garden and we are delighted with their work. The garden feels twice as big and everyone who has come to the front door has commented on how good it looks. The design process was very good and they gave us practical feedback on what was possible and how the design could be realised. The landscaping team were very well organised and worked hard, while leaving the site as clean and useable as was possible for such a project in some very poor weather. If anything couldn't happen to schedule they would call us to let us know when it could take place. (A gold medal for FLL's admin throughout - it's quite rare for contractors to do everything promptly and keep you updated!) Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to transform their garden :)

I can wholeheartedly recommend Liam and his teams. Over the past few weeks they have installed the following for me; a large 'awkwardly' shaped hexagonal natural stone flag patio with matching steps and separately two composite decked areas. Additionally they added around 50 metres of cut stone copings to existing walls and most recently, for my parents they constructed a substantial set of natural, bull nosed, stone flag steps and patio. Each of the projects was carried out professionally and diligently by everyone involved with a minimal amount of disturbance to existing structures and planting. At all times, communication was excellent which coupled with the standards of workmanship, led to a stress free experience and the delivery of exactly what we were hoping for.

I was always told my my partner Karl to always read reviews when wanting to fined the right people for the job your needing doing. That’s when I came across Firstlight. Never wrote a review before but felt I needed to due to the work I have had done. I meet with Neal to go through what I was wanting. I explained to Neal that my partner Karl had passed away last year and he would sit and look out the window at the beautiful view and that I wanted to do the garden for Karl has it was the last thing that needed to be done and Karl had told me of how he wanted the garden to look. So it was very important that the job and design was right. Neal listened to everything that I wanted to be done and did beautiful plans of how the garden would look. I never thought of how beautiful it would look and what a extra part of my home it could be for me and my family. The team that did the work on the garden did it exactly how Neal had designed it. They worked a full week on the garden come rain or shine and in extreme heat but never complained always polite. They made mine and Karl’s dream garden a reality. I can never thank all the team enough for what they have done. Thank you for helping me to be able to do one of Karl’s wishes and to help me make it come true. One last thing please make sure when the team are doing your garden which they will because you are crazy if you don’t choose Firstlight. That you make sure they have plenty of drinks and biscuits and able to use a toilet because they are not just doing there job they are putting passion and going the extra mile to put your ideas into reality so you have a garden to lots of great memories 😁 xx

FirstLight were excellent throughout our garden re-modelling including a new stone patio, retaining walls and a new dividing wall to match the house in reclaimed stone. After initially working with us to produce a superb design, their team were professional and understanding throughout the build process, working considerately and regularly discussing the finer details with us. They also incorporated additional changes requested by us as the work progressed without fuss and left everywhere as neat and tidy as possible. We couldn't be happier with the result and we would thoroughly recommend them.

Firstlight recently completed work on landscaping our garden and designing and constructing our garden room and we are delighted with the outcome.

As work progressed we requested a number of additional tasks, for example; re-routing a water pipe. This was agreed and completed without hesitation and at reasonable cost.

We are extremely pleased with the final result, which has now been enhanced with beautiful planting sourced and installed by the Firstlight team.

We are absolutely thrilled with the garden and landscaping design done for us by FirstLight. I can only really echo so many of the reviews already written about the work they have done for us. From the outset we had plenty of time to think with them about the design and work involved. We loved the way the design is produced for viewing so that it is really possible to see exactly what will be produced. We had three elements to our design, a utililty area, side garden and front drive with beds including a bespoke workshop build. There was a lot to combine and I think what we have flows and works really well. The coordination was superb from start to finish. The team were a real pleasure to have around for 5 weeks and were professional and so hard working at all times. The site was left tidy and organised every single day without fail . Neal and Liam worked with us to make tweaks to details as we progressed and we cannot speak highly enough of the real quality of attention to detail. They have provided a super template for us to now fill with plants as part of our retirement and we are extremely thrilled with the result, thankyou!

First Light Landscaping have created an absolutely beautiful garden for us. Neal created some really lovely designs which we didn't believe our garden could ever look like. He is very clever and had some really good ideas to create more space. When the team arrived to begin the work they were very efficient and extremely tidy. Firstlight had recently completed our garden transformation where we are really thrilled with the new look. We are impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail from the team throughout the process from concept design to completion as well as the follow ups. At the beginning, we worked with Neal on our design where the concepts he had proposed have built in options for us to choose from without additional front and back that helped us finalizing the design quickly. Days prior project commencing, Liam and Dave visited the site to ensure project can start as planned gave us the added confidence that our project is in good hands. Throughout the works, Dave kept me informed with the progress, communicating with me where options are available to choose from. Dave was also flexible accommodating to specific arrangements, i.e. noise levels on certain time slots and ensuring the work place was tidy at the end of every day. Dave and his team were very detail oriented. We now have particular patio arrangements aligning to the house symmetrically, while the team ensured flatness and squareness are as designed. The only downside was the wait to avoid rainy season at the final stage, however, its definitely a key showcase of Firstlight's persistence and focus on quality on the work they deliver, in this case on the finishing pointing. Upon completion of the works, the site was cleaned and tidied up to our satisfactory. In summary, we have had plenty of experience working with various tradesmen and contractors, and Firstlight really stood out for their professionalism, clear communication at every stage, and quality of work. If you are looking to give your garden a makeover, you may have either by chance or recommendation come across the website for First Light Landscaping and found your way to these reviews. Scrolling through them you could be forgiven for thinking that surely no company could be this good. Let me reassure you that there is not a word written on this page that is not thoroughly deserved and we cannot thank Neal, Liam and the rest of the team anywhere near enough for what they have delivered. From first contact and the design phase through to completion, it has been an absolute pleasure to have this team around. Neal arranged a series of meetings to discuss what we were hoping for from our garden, surveyed it and delivered a design that absolutely blew us away delivering on the brief perfectly. All aspects of the project were meticulously broken down into individual tasks and costed so there was total transparency on what we were paying for. Even as the build progressed and it was easier to see what would work and what wouldn’t, Liam and Neal were always happy to talk through alternative options and provide solutions presenting us with the pros and cons before we decided whether to proceed or not. They were then totally flexible in incorporating any changes we asked for into the build without complaint. When it came to lighting and placement, Neal was also able to advise us on what to use and introduced us to an electrician that First Light work closely with – he also delivered brilliantly. The team on the ground themselves led by Louis were fantastic. Polite, courteous and respectful of our neighbours. They turned up promptly and early each day, communicated clearly with us what would be happening during the day and involved us at any point if our input was required. Attention to detail was second to none and left you in no doubt as to the quality of the workmanship and the materials being used. As a couple of examples, they planted some wooden posts and were not happy with the alignment (I couldn’t tell!) and dug then up and re-planted several times before they were finally satisfied and re-laid a number of porcelain tiles when it became obvious to them they were from a different batch of stone and a slightly different colour from the majority of the other tiles. The issues were so subtle that I’m sure many other companies would not have bothered. At the end of the day, they always cleaned and tidied up after themselves, asked if we had any questions or concerns and give us an idea what the plan for the next day would be. For us the end result has been stunning. We have been using our garden for a few months now and it delivers on every front. In conclusion, First Light Landscaping are a highly professional, customer-focused team who deliver a project on time, to budget and with the highest standards of workmanship and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who wishes to transform their garden into the space of their dreams.

New raised patio to replace old wooden terrace. The team have done numerous small garden jobs for me in the past and done a great job everytime. Therefore I didn’t hesitate to contact them for this. As before they offered fast and informative help in planning. Rapidly put together a design which considered safety/damp proofing/accessibility ect. as well as aesthetic and then cracked on with the job through all the elements. I have high standards and that’s why I use FirstLight! Liam and Neil built my front and back garden 11 and 10 years ago respectively. Both areas have given me so much pleasure and I love them. Next was the pergola floor, replacing the wood for a resin base … looks like wood, but no maintenance! We are very happy with our new garden. We have had drainage installed to cope with a river of surface water flooding and feel confident that the action taken will resolve the problem come the winter storms. We are very happy with the garden design and final result . The same 2 guys completed most of the work so we had consistency and they worked very hard, pretty well always arrived by 8am and they were pleasant, cheerful and polite to us and our neighbours.

Neal, the head of design arranged a series of meetings where we discussed what we wanted from our garden and it was quite easy because there was already a design in their portfolio that we already really liked. Our garden wasn’t the same size so we might not have be able to fit everything in and we also had other ideas too. Neal paid thorough attention to our likes and dislikes when it came to garden design, and then over the course of several weeks presented us with 3 spectacular designs which incorporated everything we wanted. Neal used his distinct design skills to make best use of every inch of the garden, in particular the use of the side strip as a play area and a roofed and unroofed aspect to the pergola. My wife and I then spent several weeks deciding which design we liked the most and then Neal slightly adjusted the design multiple times based on our evolving ideas stemmed from his design philosophies. Neal gave us a thorough 5 page costing detailing all costs. We have found with other firms in previous houses that they often give just a one page break down and tend to lump all costs together under materials and labour with minimal further detail so it was quite refreshing to get this thorough break down which enabled us to easily adjust/remove aspects to save cost. Neal also gave us opportunity to take the design to another landscaping team should we desire and gave us the sense that there was no pressure to use First Light for the actual build. Obviously, we didn’t even bother because why would I want another firm to do the job for a slightly lower cost but inferior quality? I didn’t choose First Light just to design so that another firm could do a poor imitation, I chose them because having reviewed their portfolio, their work speaks for itself and they are the best in the business. If you’re after the lowest price then this is completely the wrong firm to go for. If on the other hand you want the very best designs, craftsmanship and attention to detail and are happy to pay for high quality materials, this is the only firm to consider in my opinion. Having finalised the design and doing some more fine tweaking to keep the design within budget, a build date was agreed but there were still 2 more stages: electrics and plant design. A further visit was arranged with an electrician they partner with who along with Neal helped us plan lighting and heating as we had no idea what to do. There was a small incident where one of the diggers brush past an exterior window sill to the house and caused some minor damage. The landscaping team immediately informed my wife and Liam said he would fix it for us. We might not have noticed otherwise. The point I’m trying to make is, in life, accidents can and do happen but this firm didn’t brush it under the carpet and hope we wouldn’t notice, they were 100% honest about it, told us immediately and they later fixed it (you can’t tell it happened). This reinforced my decision to go with this trustworthy firm that has the utmost integrity when it comes to their customers. With the project complete, our garden looks absolutely stunning! What was Neal’s wonderful paper design is now an actual physical reality! In many ways the actual build surpasses the 3D design he made. You just can’t see the effect lighting has in advance. My wife and I are extremely delighted with the result and could not have asked for a better designed garden. Because Neal meticulously designed the garden into distinct areas, we now have a location for all the various things we’d like to enjoy. On an evening, the lighting just blows you away. First Light met every expectation we had and we’re delighted to have found them. Our 4 year old has had a fantastic start the the summer and loves our garden too. We’d like to thank Neal, Liam and the entire First Light team for the fantastic garden they have delivered for our family. FirstLight Landscaping dug out and replaced various rotten fence posts, dug out broken pergola and replaced with a new one, ground out all the old mortar on patio steps and pond surrounds, relaid and made good . The workmen arrived on time, tidied up afterwards and appeared interested on completing a good job to my satisfaction.

When we first decided to go ahead and get our garden landscaped, we got 3 quotes, all of which were very similar in price. However, what really made First Light stand out from the others was the service, the professionalism and the authentic, friendly (but not pushy) people who we came into contact with at every step of the journey. Nothing was too much trouble, we had several versions of the plans, chaning our minds, then back again...not being the most helpful of customers! But the colleagues at First Light showed patience and understanding as we weighed up the options, and were always happy to work up new drawings and quotes, getting back to us promptly every time. We contracted FirstLight to completely re-landscape our garden. Neal provided expert advice to allow us to make better design decisions and worked with us to refine our final design. The 3D illustrations Neal provided were particularly helpful in allowing us to visualise what the finished garden would look like. From my first phone call to Firstlight ,to job sign off, the service I have received has been genuinely excellent. We were expertly advised by company director, Liam, from the start. This is a small town garden space but as the only outdoor area we have, it was essential we achieved the contemporary look and functionality we were after. We chose Ecoscape Forma composite decking in Argent which works brilliantly with Liam's design. Bespoke slatted fencing has given us the privacy we were after and the whole space is lifted by a wonderful bespoke hardwood corner seat, expertly designed, built and fitted by Firstlight's secret weapon, Dan, an artisan carpenter - helped by the wonderful Mariusz who is a first-rate renderer and builder. Dan and Mariusz worked tirelessly, problem solving on the spot and always going the extra mile to ensure a flawless finish. If you like contemporary spaces, and want your project to look like it's come out of Elle Deco, look no further that Firstlight. You'll get excellent advice, fair and realistic pricing and a finish that even the pickiest customer (me) can't fault. Would highly recommend the Firstlight Team to anyone. Oh and thanks to the lovely Jemima in the office who managed to slot our job into a packed diary!

First Light Landscaping was excellent all round. Liam and I discussed the initial brief (turfing over a vegetable patch, sorting out a drainage issue, plus a new gravel path, relaid York stone path and new and reshaped planting areas) and he had many good, practical suggestions. The quote was sufficiently detailed to enable me to make a swift decision. The pre-start communications were excellent. The team and kit that arrived for project start were impressive - everyone worked very hard, were flexible and had a good eye for a job done well. As I was off-site on the final day there were a few snagging issues - inevitable on this size of job. Liam stopped by, we discussed what was required on site and they were rectified within days. The finished project makes the garden look SO much smarter and we're delighted with the end result. A friend recommended Firstlight for a small property repair. The guys were friendly, hard-working, did exactly what was agreed, tidied up afterwards and the result looks great.

First Light Landscaping First Light Landscaping carried out a major project in our garden which involved significant changes to the ground level, incorporation of drainage, building walls, steps, paving, paths and lawns, laying cable for lighting and planting of trees. We agreed a fixed price for the job which took 2 months to complete and the project was finished pretty much on schedule, with some agreed extra cost for additional work which we chose to add. Liam Pickering and his team were meticulous in following the project design and their workmanship could not be faulted - they have great skill in all the tasks involved, from levelling the ground, building stone walls, laying drains, flags and lawns. They were really cheerful, very hard working and had a good range of equipment to do the job efficiently, using laser levels to ensure everything ended up as planned. It was obvious that they worked well as a team, with a boss who was himself very willing to get stuck in. They were always responsive to our views on the project so we ended up with a superb garden with which we are delighted. Perhaps the best compliment we can pay is to say that we missed them when they had gone! We thoroughly recommend First Light Landscaping.

FirstLight have redesigned our front garden, installing raised beds, and also removed our old tarmac drive, replacing it with permeable gravel and a security gate. Unfailingly courteous, professional and imaginative, Liam and his team worked quickly and efficiently, and have always been very willing to come back to sort any minor issues. First Light have just completed a re-landscaping of our back garden. We are over the moon with it. From Neal's first visit to provide us a quote we felt in safe hands and had confidence in his expertise and experience. He was able to explain the different options available to us and we were happy with the quote given. We asked 3 companies to quote for us. We chose to work with Firstlight because we found this process by far the most professional and comprehensive. The quote included a detailed breakdown of the work that would be carried out, and including 3D images to show what the finished work would look like. The fact that the work was completed, to a high standard, and to the value of the quote is really good - as this is not always the case. There were no surprises with the bill, and Neal was very good at keeping us updated along the way. I made an assumption with our patio that we were on the same page when it came to the type of paving stone we wanted. When it transpired we weren't, Neal was accommodating in pausing the work to order more traditional flagstones for us. If I were doing the project again I would ask to see samples in advance, to make sure the spec and colour are correct, but this was more a learning point for myself - and Firstlight were very understanding when we wanted to get this right.

We have just had our back garden landscaped by Firstlight and absolutely love the work . Neil and the lads have done a great job, punctual , tidy and very friendly as well. Neil was always on hand if we needed advice and we did keep changing the spec a little as the project went along but this was no trouble to them . We have asked them for a quote for a little job that needs doing in the front garden now as we trust them to do a great job . Highly recommend. The First Light team did an excellent job for us, building a small entrance courtyard using dressed York stone and rendered blockwork. Hard working (in awful weather), neat and tidy, a pleasant crew to have around.

We were very pleased with all aspects of the work. The quote was very specific about how the job would be done, and they delivered on that. The company is big enough to enable them to put in extra resources when the digging out was being done. The two main people doing the work were very competent, extremely hard working, very polite, and obliging – a pleasure to have on site. And the result looks very good.
