We picked Heat Geek for their performance guarantee and our Heat Geek was Erik Johansen from AE Renewables Ltd. Erik undertook a detailed heat-loss survey of every room and discussed in detail the various options, making sure we were happy with each design decision. The result was a Vaillant aroTHERM Plus 7kW ASHP running at 45°C design flow temperature coupled to a Joule 300ltr unvented hot water cylinder and a lot of radiator changes to ensure best performance; all with a guaranteed combined heating & DHW efficiency of 390% - we actually got 435% for May. The resulting system is quiet and performing exactly as expected and the house generally feels more comfortable, with the recent May cold snap being a useful initial test. The install team of Erik, Simon, Mike and Chris were excellent. They were friendly, tidy, and proud of their work. They changed the whole house from gravity feed to pressurised, removing all the redundant pipework, shower pump and cold-water tanks. Their communication was excellent throughout, walking us through design options and decisions, and during installation continually checking we were happy with what they were doing. Overall, we are very happy with the whole experience. The combination of a Heat Geek Black Label design with a careful, communicative installer focussed on delivering a quality solution made the whole project feel low-risk. Highly recommended.

Edit: April 2026. Erik has just been back for the second year service. ASHP is working really well, the house is warmer than it’s ever been(Mrs R’s words!) and running costs are ridiculously cheap. I would recommend a Heat Pump to anybody, and would have no hesitation in recommending Erik at AE Renewables to plan and install it! We recently had an ASHP installed by the A& E team and are very pleased with the results. It was a long job, removing the gas boiler, replacing radiators and hot water cylinder, but was completed on schedule despite the appalling weather conditions. The team worked so hard and cleaned up after themselves every night before they left. We now have a lovely warm house and are no longer burning gas. Would thoroughly recommend AE Services.

We had a really smooth installation from Erik and his team. The initial survey was very thorough, Erik explained all the options to us and gave his recommendations supported by the new Heat Geek Zero Disrupt software. This really gave us the confidence we needed to sign up. Erik also took the time for an additional visit before install to make sure everything was in order. Installation was very tidy and stress-free. We knew what would be changing and which bits of the house to prepare in advance. Erik's team were very careful to avoid damaging anything, and they tidied up every day before they went. The wiring, piping and lagging all looks very neat and you can really tell that the team prides themselves in doing good work. No bodging here! System was commissioned on the Friday morning as expected, and Erik explained everything about the app and the software. We are very happy and have been cosy and warm ever since. It's easy to keep track of our running costs and we have been pleasantly surprised at how low they can be (working together with our solar panels and home battery). We would recommend Erik and AE Renewables to anyone for a good heat pump installation!
We had a Heat Pump fitted by AE Renewables Last Week. Erik Johansson and his team removed our gas boiler and fitted a Vaillant aroTherm plus Heat Pump. We were apprehensive at first because heat pumps have had some bad press and we didn't know what to expect but since the heat pump was fitted the house has been warmer and cosier than its ever been and the hot water comes through much quicker than with our old gas combi boiler. Erik and his team (James, Chris and Mike) were very pleasant, tidy and professional, it was a pleasure having them in our home. Erik is part of the Heat Geek organisation and is a Heat Geek specialist. Erik designed our system using the Heat Geek principles and design philosophy. The old boiler was removed and the new heat pump was fitted over 3 day. I have no hesitation in recommending AE Renewables, they are experts in their field and work hard to give the best possible outcomes. Erik and his team were courteous, polite, clean and tidy and cleared away all mess as they went along, they just wanted to do a great job. Thank You Erik.
I have just had a heat pump installed by Erik and his team from AE Renewables. Erik is a”Heat Geek Expert (Guru)” and has taken the time and effort to become a Master of his Trade. Erik, James, Chris, and Mike made a first class installation of our heat pump. We are so pleased with the result. We were obviously worried about switching from gas boiler to heat pump as heat pumps have had a lot of bad press over the years. But so far (it’s only been 2days) the heat pump has proved to be very efficient, very effective, very economical and extremely quiet. I can’t thank Erik and his team enough for doing such a great Job (Thank you Guys, you were fabulous). We have no reservations in Recommending Erik and his team from AE Renewables. Erik designed and installed our heat pump and underfloor heating a year ago and now he has been back to do the annual service. I am very happy with my setup and the sizing of the heat pump (5Kw). It is performing well with a SCOP of 4.15
The process of upgrading our heating system with Erik from AE Renewables a Heat Geek premier installer, was straight forward, we used Heat Geek, they introduced us to Erik and they project managed the BUS grant, procurement of the equipment and regulatory permissions, whilst Erik produced the design, quotation, project managed and completed the install. The AE Renewables team were polite, courteous, clean and tidy whilst doing a top-notch job and I would highly recommend AE Renewables for heat pump installations. Heat Geek’s state of the art design software was used to produce the design, this scans the dimensions of the rooms, allows input of your property’s thermal characteristics and calculates the building heat loss, thus allowing the heat pump and radiators to be correctly sized. During this process Erik spent a lot of time with us explaining what he was doing and why with great enthusiasm and passion. Erik visited us twice before install, first to provide the survey, design and prepare the initial quote and again before install to review and confirm the design. On the day of install Erik and his team arrived punctually, we reviewed the install with the team and in the first day completed all of the inside work and we were pleasantly surprised how quickly and efficiently Erik’s team worked. Works on day one included, decommissioning the heating system, installing new radiators, modifications to the supply and return pipework, including making good the floors and re-laying the carpets. Eric ensured that we had back up heating and hot water during the time of the works. Second and third days were taken up removing the old boiler, which was very difficult because of lack of space and its orientation in the bathroom but the guys did a sterling job, laying out and installing the new Heat pump, DHW tanks buffer vessels, pipework and electrical works. The install of the these items is compact and neat. He preferentially bent pipe over using fittings to ensure the maximum efficiency from the system. All pipework was neatly lagged, it is a shame to hide all the lovely pipework that they installed! The fourth day commenced with further lagging, completion of the electrical work, making good our roof where the gas flue penetrated and commissioning of the system, which included demineralising circulation water to the highest boiler water standard ensuring that the system internals won’t corrode without using hazardous corrosion inhibitors. The system was balanced so that all rooms receives the correct design flow ensuring that the heat loss for that room is made up by the heating system. The Heat Geek software ensures that commissioning is carried out correctly and confirmed by the installation engineer and witnessed by myself.

Erik is a legend! His knowledge and passion for his work coupled with attention to detail inspired confidence throughout our heat pump installation. This was a big and complex piece of work including replacing all radiators, removing the old gas boiler, fitting a new hot water tank, fixing older plumbing and new header tank. Great problem solving - ours is an older house that threw up extra issues that Erik handled with speed and good humour. He and his team created a friendly and efficient atmosphere and cleaned up very carefully every day. We are delighted with our new hot water and heating system.
Erik and his team from AE Renewables have just installed a new Air Source Heat Pump for me. Having had quotes and discussions with a number of providers, Erik was the only one to quote for a solution based on Heat Geek standards (no buffer tank and an appropriate sized heat pump!) and the results have been fantastic. The installation has been outstanding in terms of quality, efficiency and customer service. Erik is a heating engineer with a passion for his trade and I would strongly recommend you benefit from his skills and knowledge if you are looking to install a heat pump - don't be duped by amateurs.

Erik saved the day! He came over to give me a quote to either replace my boiler or replace the broken fan. His experience and total honesty meant that he recognised the boiler and the potential issue straight away (and fixed it FOR NOTHING!) - he discovered that my previous contractors hadn’t replaced the part they said they had and that they had risked the life of me and my son by not replacing the boiler casing correctly! So after nearly 3 weeks without heating or hot water he lubricated the fan and it started straight away! Massive thanks to Erik for being so kind and giving his time and expertise. He’s also written a report for me to send to the insurance company and to report The Heating guys for fraud and malpractice. He’s passionate about protecting his trade and I want you to know that you can trust him after how he’s helped me tonight. If you want the full saga read on - if you don’t then stop here. 19 days ago my boiler stopped working, I have home emergency cover with my Lloyds bank account; I reported the issue and they connected me with a company called The Heating Guys. I was told that I’d get a text message through once they’d picked up the job. I hadn’t heard anything that evening or early morning so I went to work. 3 messages arrived at the same time to say “Our tradesperson is on their way”, “Our tradesperson has arrived” and “Our tradesperson has left” so no chance to get home. Next day they came, said I needed a motorised valve. After a few days of putting their quote and getting it approved by AXA (on behalf of Lloyds) they fitted the part, it didn’t fix the issue so he looked at inside the boiler - banged on the fan and said that it needed replacing. I left them to order the fan, which was approved but they hadn’t put in their labour costs. All the while I am having to chase, to find out what was going on 10 days in, still with no hot water or heating, they phoned and gave me a 2 hour slot they’d be with me. They didn’t turn up so again I’m on the phone to the claims team - they told me that The Heating Guys had only just added their labour costs which had made the job exceed the £1000 and they told me that in order to get the fan replaced I would have to pay The Heating Guys £70 directly!! I said that this didn’t seem right and they told me this was the only option. I tried to call Lloyds complaint team, they told me they couldn’t help, AXA said there was no senior person I could escalate this too. I was so upset and frustrated that no one seemed to actually care about what was happening. I said to the claims line that I wanted to complain. I called the AXA claims line to request information about their quotes and I got basic totals for the two jobs not a breakdown. The next day The Heating Guys phoned me to take the £70 payment. I said that I wanted the precise breakdown of costs and the chap, Lewis, said that he couldn’t give it to me (he was sitting in his van waiting to take payment on his card machine) he said I’d have to ask AXA again. - I asked AXA for a more detailed breakdown and they told me the first job was to replace that valve and that they’d drained the system and labour was 2.5 hrs - this was a lie, their quote for the new fan was £469. I said to Barry from AXA that I didn’t feel safe with them coming into my house now knowing they’d lied - he said he didn’t understand why and for me to just pay the £70 and claim it back later!!! The next morning I realised how awful that was so I phoned again to be told that I’d now have to wait for the complaints people to call me. Their policy is to get back to customers within 1-3 days - I’d been waiting 5, so I started posting my dissatisfaction on social media and they called me the next day (funny that!). I was then told that I could engage my own tradesperson and that I had £653 left to try to fix the boiler (I asked about the fraudulent first job where they’d charged too much, which should have meant I had more allowance but I’ve not heard back about this). So that bought me back to Erik and his awesome fix! Thanks Erik!!

Eric fitted a brand new Combi central heating system for me, was fun to have around the house for the week, explains every little detail about how the system works & best way to save on energy bills. Eric was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He systematically found the problem in no time at all, which in my case was a faulty fan. I called Erik not expecting anything to soon to happen...he managed to pop in same day an sort boiler out 2days laters after sourcing parts. I would deffo recommend him am i will deffo be calling him again Hopefully not till a service is due next year.

I was recommended this company by a work colleague of my wife ,we contacted them at the weekend and they came to us within the hour looked at the job which was a conversion from an old boiler system to a combi system ,really good price quoted which we whent ahead with they were hear the following Thursday and Friday and wow did an excellent job i am really impressed with the work they did for me honestly if you need a job done contact them if i need any further work doing i will not even bother looking around i will just give Eric a call .

Absolutely superb, the best gas engineer I've ever met. Erik is very pleasant and personable, hard-working and efficient. He explains what he's doing and has a lot of experience with all types of heating systems to call upon. Erik got me out of a major problem with a non-functional conventional heating and water system at very short notice. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! My Heating stoped working in this February cold snap. 8pm at night and only 8 degrees on the thermostat I called Eric from A&E and he responded straight away.
