Several reviewers describe Alan R Cross & Son as friendly and helpful, and some report quick or same-day call-outs and work carried out to a good standard. Interestingly reading the review below, a very similar experience happened to us. The work undertaken by George was excellent, but the management exploit everything. Not only did they issue a "failed" EICR, the quote we received for rectification works that were not required was disappointing and very expensive. Without going into too much boring detail, look elsewhere for your electrical works, for as as pleasant as they are, what they quote isn't what you'll end up paying. I ended up spending £2,000 for our EICR, the certificate which I'm still waiting for to be sent as I've a bill for £75 outstanding! We thought local family run business established for many decades would be a sensible choice, how wrong we were.
Updated to 1 star (4 weeks after initial review below) - we have since had to have part of the work rectified by another company. Would not recommend. We had Alan R. Cross and Son recommended when we recently moved to the area. Whilst the work carried out was satisfactory (hence the 2 stars), communication and management has been poor and disappointing even after raising concerns directly with the management. It should be standard practice to revise quotes to avoid costs escalating without the customer knowing. We got caught out by agreeing to go ahead without a revised quote since our property failed the EICR and we urgently needed the upgraded modifications to be able to work from home. An expensive mistake we won’t be making again.

I lost all electrical power in my house and contacted the company. The man who answered the phone was extremely professional. He called back quickly, as he said that he would and arranged for two electricians to call within half an hour. I was extremely grateful for excellent service that was provided. Everything was performed in a speedy, efficient and professional manner.
Had problems with appliances tripping out power. Came to sort it same day. Recommended.
We have used them for the past 50 years and cannot fault them. They are quick, efficient and courteous we would recommend them highly.
Find another service, don't waste time considering the mayor is working for them. PAT tests on appliances that don't work properly, missed PAT. They service Warners appliances and took care of our electricity meter, we had night rate and day rate? But just day meter in inventory? They were supposed to solve a "problem" with nonworking meter but was it ever happening? After it didn't work we got a bill 2800 pounds per a quarter? Wow. The new storage heaters were running on day rate after installed? One of the electricians stated that as well as an employee of Warners. Apparently, only night rate went through the storage heaters so why we got bills in spring and summer? Wow Pictures and videos coming later.

Obviously they are very busy and no longer in need of work. 2 weeks has now passed and I'm still waiting for my promised call back. Unfortunately for them there are many other good electricians in the area.
