From first contact with Mark everything was done in a very professional manner. He was very knowledgeable about the process and all of the ins and outs of solar panels etc. The whole fitting of the solar panels and charging system was completed in a day and a half. His team were a great bunch of skilled men who knew their jobs. Since getting the system fitted just over a week ago I have not drawn any electricity from the grid. Very pleased with my investment and I’ll be looking towards adding an additional storage battery next year. The reason why I chose Thomson Electrical is because they are local and Mark went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly and if anything goes wrong they are not too far away to call in to check the system.

Fantastic local company providing people better solutions for energy outstanding workmanship throughout the whole process. I had issues with my roof. I didn't even know from the last company that fitted solar panels left 47 cracked tiles under my panels that obviously couldn't be seen. They had a roofer from Carlisle who fixed the problem. Absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend this local company to Whitehaven to anybody interested in solar panels and the batteries the order come round once the insulation is complete to make sure everything was on point to make sure we understood exactly what we were looking at

Had solar panels and battery installed by Mark and his team at the end of July so had around 6 weeks of experience so far and very happy with it so far. The install was quick and very neat. A few neighbours have had solar installed and it’s obvious looking at them that the work done by Marks team is clearly a much higher quality. Large solar and battery installation plus EV charger. Selected Thomson energy based on local word of mouth recommendations and also Mark took the extra time to visit and personally survey and fully explain various options with pros and cons. Mark dealt with all the approvals process rather than opting for simple limited system. A high spec sig energy system with optimum panels was installed at competitive price, with scope for future battery addition, with Hypervolt 3 pro EV charger. His team were efficient, turning up when they said they would, worked to a high standard of finish and competed the main installation in a couple of days with no mess (unusually for electricians). Mark also went out his way to expedite early EV charger installation ahead of the main job. The roofers were also exceptional and properly sealed and hid any penetrations with no trailing cables Mark and his team took the time to explain all the functions and supporting apps and quickly responded to any follow up queries. I would thoroughly recommend Mark and his team if you are seeking an honest, trustworthy and professional job.

We needed all our electrics tested and lots of work done to the stands at Whitehaven RLFC. After years of neglect the electrics were a mess. Mark and his lads came at short notice and out the hours in to make sure the stands were safe for match day. Would highly recommend them.

Mark and his team installed a 17 panel solar and sigenstor battery system at our house in Whitehaven, having previously upgraded our home EV charger. We've just switched from one to two EVs and wanted to add this system alongside. This allows us to maximise savings vs petrol and high peak rate electricity prices we're now able to avoid completely. We were very impressed with the speed of the install and finish (only two days installation work after the scaffold was up). Thomsons were also really responsive throughout, accomodating decisions we had to make just before or during the job. They are also around after the job and happy to help with any technical queries. Thomsons are a local business who had covered the electrical work on our garage conversion a few years ago and the good service from a local firm was the main factor in choosing them again for this job. Not many installers can pop around to look at a job while walking their dog! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for this kind of work.

I had an electrical fault in the house on August Bank Holiday weekend, somone arrived in under an hour and found what the issue was and resolved it in approx 1.5 hours. Price was fair and the guy that arrived was polite, knowledgeable and explained as he went. Would use again.

We first contacted Mark on 20th April 2026, and within just two days he visited our home to discuss the options available for installing solar panels. After talking through our requirements, we decided to go ahead with six solar panels, a 5kW inverter, an EcoFlow system with a 10kW battery, and a new consumer unit. Mark estimated that the installation could take place during the first week of July, subject to the DNO application being approved. True to his word, the team arrived as planned, on time and on the agreed date. Mark was fantastic to deal with throughout the whole process — professional, knowledgeable and reliable. The installers, Aron and Stuart, were also first class. They worked efficiently, were very professional, and did an excellent job. Since the installation, we have been able to generate our own electricity and have effectively been off-grid, which has been fantastic. Had a 12kw aiko solar and 10k sigen and 12k inverter, and an EV charger installed by Thomson electrical & energy solutions. After getting a number of quotes I decided to go with Thomson due partly to their competitive price and the examples of quality workmanship I was shown, and perhaps mostly by the evident pride Mark takes in his work and the geek levels of knowledge he has about the different products on offer. I asked a lot of questions and mark was very accommodating in replying with the minutae I had enquired about. We are delighted by the quality of the electrical installation, the whole team were polite, efficient, and it was evident they all took pride in the quality of their work. The whole install was done relatively quickly (after waiting for the dno which is out of their hands) and as they are MCs certified and all the rest it was only a couple of weeks after install that we are now enjoying being paid for our surplus electricity generation alongside almost all of our electricity usage being supplied by the solar and battery including the car. I highly recommend Mark and his team if you are looking to get a solar, battery, or EV install.

Chose Thomson Electrical as we were knocking down walls and moving our kitchen. There was a lot of rewiring, new lights, switches and sockets to fit. Thomson's Electrical electricians were there when i needed them as they had to work around builders, plasterers , kitchen fitters etc. All the electricians that came were friendly and very knowledgable. They gave advice on where to fit lights and switches which was very helpful. I would highly recommend Thomson Electrical for any electrical work from the smallest of jobs to the largest.

I'd lost my heating sure to an electrical fault, at the wrong time, mid December, but struggled to get anyone available. Mark called me back after I had a busy tone on calling him and asked me to describe the issue and send photos. He said he try and get over, he'd had a lot of calls that day. He managed to come over later that day and jumped straight in, identified the issue, then fitted a replacement CH controller in no time. Very polite, professional, helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Stuart is a very fast neat worker, he completed our work in a very clean and efficient manor, he wouldn't even let us help clean up. Mark and his team were able to squeeze us in at such short notice near the end of our house sale. Without them, we probably could have lost our entire progress! Really good work replacing consumer unit, installing various plug sockets, having to chase walls etc and installing new spot lights throughout the house. Lads on the job extremely helpful and explain what they need to do and demonstrated the different options with the spot lights. The best thing has been response time for snags weve had as part of our renovation. Always responded quickly and turned up ready for the next tradesperson to begin. Aftercare has been excellent. Would recommend and have done to family, friends and colleagues.

I recently had Mark Thomson from Thomson Electrical install my new Nest heating system, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the service. I found M Thomson through My Builder and after posting my job in the morning two men came in the afternoon to look at the job. They were great, friendly and professional. They diagnosed my ongoing problem with my shower and got it working. I’m waiting for a quote for the rest of the work but first impressions were excellent.

Not all super hero's wear capes but Mark and his team are brilliant. I have had a lot of problems within my house with electrics and a couple of cowboys 🤠 who made our house a danger zone. I called Mark and within 20 minutes he was here to make us safe. His team are polite and curtious and done their jobs so well. From small jobs to re wiring a fuse board which had been thrown in and a fire hazard to making it safe. From live cables left sticking out of a 12 yr olds bedroom socket to making it safe. You need an electrical service then please give Mark a call there is a reason he is so busy because he is one of the best and worth the wait. Always comes out to assess the job the same day if he can. I seriously can not thank them enough for my peace of mind.

We arrived home late one evening to find we had no power. My friend contacted M. Thomson, and despite the late hour (around 9 PM), he arrived within an hour. He quickly diagnosed the issue and got our lights back on. Since then, he has also replaced our smoke detectors and completed other jobs for us. Found M Thomson Electrical Ltd on My Builder. Called after reading good reviews. Mark visited the site and quoted for 3 phase power and lighting installation. The work was completed as advised, to a high standard and in good time. Since getting the original quote my machines had been installed. Extra work including wiring the 3 phase machines was completed. I had originally intended to obtain another quote for this work. However it made sense to finish the installation while the electricians were on site. All extras were completed and I am very happy with the finished result. The final cost of the project was more than I had originally planned, but in the end you get what you pay for and I am not complaining. Good company to do business with. Would recommend.

I have just had some electrical work carried out by M Thompson Electrical for my rented property. There were multiple different bits of work to carry out to bring it up to electrical standard and receive an EICR report Pass. This included replacement of light switches, rewiring of lighting and installing a new consumer unit. Everything has been completed to a high standard and was very reasonably priced. Brilliant and knowledgeable Electrician who went out of his way on a Saturday to help us. We have used Mark for several electrical jobs, ranging from small jobs (replacing a broken bathroom extractor fan, installing a cooker hood) to larger jobs (new consumer unit, installing new outdoor lights including floor-set patio lights). Yesterday he attended at short notice and installed a new Nest for us (after the previous one was faulty, leaving us with no heat or hot water). Fantastic workmanship, reliable and friendly.

I had a problem with my isolator on my main incoming line. Obtained Marks number and gave him a call. The team was there three hours later and fit a new isolator and replaced fuse box in garage. We needed a home EV charger, we were told we needed to wait over a month by Octopus Energy. We contacted Mark, and he managed to fit us in within a week. His team were professional, polite and tidy. The installation was done to a very high standard.

Sunday night at 10pm there was smoke pouring out from the consumer unit. We called Mark straight away having his number saved from a couple of years ago. Mark arrived within 40 minutes without any hesitation did a temporary fix and made the area safe. The following day we received a quote for the supply and install of a new unit and necessary parts, very reasonable. Mark then sent a great team of lads the next day to carry out the work. Mark had previously done some electrical work on a house we own in Ennerdale Bridgeand which we let to local working people. Our tenant left earlier this month and had left the house in a poor state , which included some electrical repair/updating. So I contacted Mark to see if could fit the work in with some urgency as we had new tenants who wanted to move in within a few days. He said he could pop along the next day, which he did! He completed the main work but recommended further work to a bathroom extractor fan. Mark came round after I rang him about the cooker tripping the fuses every time it was switched on. Everything was checked & I was advised some new electrical wiring needed to be installed. Mark was busy but managed to come round with his men at the end of the day to do the wiring. He also advised a new cooker might be good to install which he ordered & installed as soon as it arrived. His men also installed 2 outdoor lights in no time at all. A quote was made out before the job was started & the price was very reasonable. Mark kept me informed of everything he was going to do & what time & day he would be coming & he kept to it. We are really happy with the service we received from Thomson Electrical. After continually being let down by multiple local electricians Thomson electrical were recommended by several friends. Once we messaged Mark he visited the day after and provided us with a written quote the same day. The lads who visited and installed our new light fittings and fan worked quickly and tidied up after themselves. They were very professional, friendly and polite. Brilliant service from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Thomson Electrical have been great, we’ve had the consumer unit replaced, some external power sockets installed and they are looking at replacing at the last minute a problematic electrical shower. Grant and his colleague were polite, helpful and tidy. The price quoted was reasonable. The job started as planned and has progressed well. Really happy with Mark and his team.

Called up and he went out of his way to make an appointment at short notice, came along and explained what was needed clearly. He's extremely polite and respectful, would definitely recommend and will certainly call up again for any future jobs.

Boiler wasnt working correctly switching off automatically so called mark was late in afternnon he dianose fault orded part for me and came following night fitted part checked system working correctly . An excellent service and much appreciated would highly recommend to family and friends

I had a full rewire from Thomson electric a year ago. They have been absolutely first class ! And I cannot fault them at all. They did a great job and gave me lots of confidence what they are doing. Such as giving you great ideas, I did not think of myself ! Yesterday one of my outside lights stopped working 😐 so I phoned the same day and they came out at the end of the day and managed to find time for me. Fixed the problem and no charge. I recommend Thomson electrical enough to anyone such as friends and family or anyone looking for a decent sparky. I will definitely use again in the future.
