Sam fitted a new electrical panel for us in a studio apartment that was not being used. We discovered upon a tenant moving in some weeks later that one of the main circuits was not functioning. We contacted Sam, and he insisted it had all been tested and was working when he left the job. He cited a new call out charge and a 48 hour wait to come back. He offered no indication that he was willing to check his work and fix it if needed. Given the urgency, we called a new electrician who came that same day and discovered that the circuit had not been correctly completed. I approached Sam to ask him to cover the cost of the new call out, and he refused to accept any responsibility for his mistake. He hung up on me. Extremely unsatisfactory experience.

Was recommended Sam through a friend and I went with his recommendation to get the Hypervolt car charger. And, along with the app, which he took the time to demonstrate how to use it, all works really well. He fitted the charger exactly where I needed it and after laying dust sheets within the house, the internal works were completed with minimal mess and inconvenience to us. Sam Nicholls completed an EICR report for West Wilts Society of Model Engineers. The report was very thorough, with constructive comments and photographs. Sam was a pleasure to deal with and was extremely helpful in advising us on rectification works. His professional approach and quality of workmanship was excellent. I would highly recommend him and will not hesitate to use his services if required in the future.

This review is about final payment, not about the job itself. I communicated with Sam via WhatsApp. I needed a new part for my electrical board and two new smoke detectors. He quoted me via WhatsApp £314. This was £170 including VAT for materials and, in his words, "£40 per hour plus VAT for labour. I will allow for 3 hours." I agreed to this because it may have taken 3 hours and I'm someone who will pay for a job well done. He sent me a quote that came to £314 via email that I agreed to (this is where my trust became a mistake that cost me £96). He came and completed the job, and unlike his aggressive messages to me may suggest, I was very happy with the job done- He even finished it within 1 hour! When the invoice came, it was £314 and I was confused as to why he was still charging for 2 hours that he had not completed. When questioned, he tried to suggest that the 2 hours were for 'research and peace of mind.' He never told me his research and my peace of mind had a fee. Nor did I have to pay such a fee on a previous job he completed. He accused me of not being happy with the job (I never said that). He accused me of trying to put a small company out of business by not paying my bill (I told him that i was more than happy to pay for the materials and 1 hour of labour that he did). My mistake, that others who use this company need to bear in mind, is that if he quotes a labour charge in a message, he doesn't separate the labour and materials on the quote you agree to online. As a result of trusting him, I agreed to the £314 without looking at how the quote was worded and ultimately ended up with no choice but to pay him the full 3 hours, despite him completing it within 1. Therefore, he has gained £96 from me for nothing. I'm sure he will reply to this review in the same condescending way he messaged me when I dared to stand up for myself, but I would just like to add that the research and peace of mind that cost me £96, was neither quoted via WhatsApp or put in writing on the online quote. He is a good electrician for the physical job but make sure that your online quote separates your materials from the labour because if he completes the job before the time, you will end up paying the extra for him to go home early.

I can’t speak highly enough of Sam. I’d been battling with an intermittent fault on my newbuild’s central heating for two years. It was never right, from the day I moved in, and neither the builder nor their contractors would take responsibility. None of them could identify the cause, despite multiple call-outs. I’m so glad Sam was recommended to me. He came within a matter of days (at exactly the time agreed) and calmly and methodically checked through the entire system. He identified the problem and corrected it there and then! He also patiently explained exactly what the issues were and the likely causes, which has allowed me to raise a complaint with the original installers for 2 years of disruption and stress. In short Sam is obviously highly skilled, intelligent and reliable (and clearly a really nice person, too).

Fantastic job of refitting our AV equipment and carrying out other electrical and data repairs and additions. Our meeting rooms are now looking up to scratch and are easily upgradable should we wish to add additional items or replace things in the future. Throughout this project we have thrown lots of challenges Sam's way and he has dealt with it professionally and respectfully. It's never easy trying to make changes in a working office but we managed this with very minimal impact or disruption to the business. Outstanding emergency service! I am looking after a friends house whilst they are away and their new heating system failed. The original installer was too busy to come out, and I was panicking as they were due back in 48 hours and the house was freezing. Luckily Red Squirrel Heating came straight out, identified an electrical issue and called out Sam from S.Nichols Electrical contractors, to come and fix the immediate problem. Sam arrived promptly, checked all the electrics, identified the problem, had a video call with the homeowners and fixed the immediate issue. He will be coming back next week to replace the current thermostat for a more appropriate one for the system and make other necessary changes. The heating is now working beautifully and the house is finally warming up. Polite, helpful, professional and incredibly prompt and efficient ....unbelievably great service. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I contacted Sam for a small job to change my dated exterior light, he was able to do the job at short notice. He was prompt at turning up and had my light changed in no time, very neat and tidy and didn't charge me the earth. Highly recommended!.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with this company. I was told of the hourly rate but not told that I was expected to pay for travel time to and from my house. The job was left in a state and Sam did not come back to finish it despite me asking.

We used Sam to help re-do a lot of the electrics in an old cottage we were renovating. He was very helpful, friendly and explained everything throughout and we left him to complete all the work to industry standards which meant we didn't have to worry about what was required as he kept us updated of that. he also liaised between the plumber a lot so we didn't need to worry about arranging access as we were not on site and this could have been tricky otherwise!

I cannot rate Sam highly enough. I contacted him because I had an issue with some flickering LED lighting, he found a time that worked for us both quickly and arrived a few days later. After testing the system, he identified and fixed the issue within minutes. I asked, while he was there if he had time to fit a new power socket, he obliged without blinking. His work is immaculate. He tidies as he goes leaving the work area as clean, if not cleaner, than before he started. Fantastic service.

Sam provided an excellent service in relation to the electrical installation of Bathroom lighting, the extractor fan and installing external security lighting. He was very professional, neat and polite. He even took corrective action on the previous property owners shoddy DIY attempts, ensuring everything was now properly connected and earthed.
