Wright Maintenance, which is a subsidiary of J S Wright & CO Ltd, accepted the job of servicing my flat's faulty ventilation extractor unit. The engineer performed a check and stated that the main PCB required replacing. A quote of over £1,000 was provided, which I accepted since they assured me they could install promptly, and the engineer mentioned that the new part came with a 12-month warranty. Within 4 weeks of the installation, the unit malfunctioned. The engineer attended and performed another diagnosis. I was informed that I required yet another part for the unit. I started to become suspicious and questioned whether the recently installed part was the issue. The engineer was adamant that this was not the case, and the second part, which he was originally unaware of during the first visit, was the problem. At this point, I started to have suspicions about this individual's competence, as one would have expected this to have been spotted during the first visit. The second PCB motor was installed a few months later. Finally, despite the additional £1,000 for the part, I was hopeful that the problem would finally be sorted. However, the unit did not work properly, despite the engineer insisting that it was. Then, like clockwork, it broke down completely a few days later and tripped out an electricity breaker, which had never happened before. In total, I have spent around £2,100 for these two parts and labor, but I have yet to receive a working product. Imagine my surprise when the engineer stated that the first part installed during their initial visit was not working. This demonstrates that Wright Maintenance really did not have much of an idea what they were doing and lacked the competence to complete a simple installation. All they managed to do was reduce my bank balance and leave a mess. The engineer claimed that the part was still under warranty due to the installation taking place within the last 12 months. However, I was surprised when Wright Maintenance's office called me and told me that the part was now mysteriously out of warranty. They then had the audacity to quote an additional £1,300. This made absolutely no sense, and I now had my suspicions confirmed that the company is either being dishonest or is simply unreliable. I have now begun the process of reporting this company to trading standards and am considering further actions. I strongly advise both business and private customers to avoid using Wright Maintenance/J S Wright as they have minimal competence and source products that are not under warranty, likely to break down soon after installation. They seem to be only capable of demanding prompt payments and leaving a mess when they depart. The least one can expect is a working product. In my opinion, Wright Maintenance has terrible customer service, lacks competence in the jobs they accept, and provides suboptimal products. I recommend that both businesses and private customers avoid them, as they are incapable of delivering even the simplest of tasks. I would have directed this review directly to Wright Maintenance…but there London office is now listed as ‘Temporarily Closed’ on Google, very suspicious indeed!!!
