I had the misfortune of dealing with this company. They charged £90 for ten minutes work. To remove a live wire from the fuse box to a former emersion heater timer. Unscrewed the wires, went to the former airing cupboard and removed the timer. Didn't remove any wires, just left them in the cupboard. Another tradesman thought that was scandalous. What happened when a tradesman used to do a small job and said call it £30? They said there was no call out fee, it was not a call out, but a pre booked job. I wasn't informed that they charge £90 an hour, whether they are there, 5 minutes or 59 minutes. Make sure that you check their costs before using them. That was the second biggest mistake in contacting them. THEY AT NO STAGE INFORMED ME THAT THEY CHARGE £90 AN HOUR There are far cheaper options available. I would also like to state that I was going to be sued for “defacing” the company with a similar post. How can I be sued for sharing an opinion? Free country I thought They say that they offered me a 10% discount. They never did and I have all the communication between us to prove it
Recently booked to install an electric cooker at short notice for my elderly mum, 2 young lads arrived quickly, carried out the installation, polite efficient and professional service, thank you
Had a oven heating element issue. It was quickly ordered and fitted promptly.A friendly, helpful, professional service-recommended!!
We needed to replace 2 ceiling lights and replace the facias on 2 wall sockets, for the Council, before we move. I have to say that Les and his apprentice Joe were incredibly good, very efficient and very kind….the completed work was great…plus checking all the electrical system. Would definitely recommend.
I contacted this electrician 5 days ago now and he seemed very willing to complete the work I discussed with him. I waited for him to call me back to say what time and he would arrive, but had to follow up with him by an automated system as he was not accepting my call. He contacted me via the messaging service to say that he had a family emergency, fair enough I thought and gave him the benefit of the doubt. He said that he would contact me yesterday (Tuesday)after travelling back from his emergency. Absolutely nothing !!! A waste of 5 days and my time and that's putting it mildly !!!
I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Electrical4Hire and its owner, Les. The entire experience has been a complete nightmare. I initially contacted them to install an extractor fan in my kitchen, a seemingly straightforward task. However, the incompetence and lack of professionalism displayed by this company and its employees have left me thoroughly frustrated. Upon discussing the job with Les, he immediately dismissed my preferred location for the extractor fan and insisted it should go in a different corner of the kitchen. I reluctantly agreed, and we booked the job in. On the day of the installation, a young apprentice-looking boy arrived without the extraction unit itself. He explained that he was there only to drill a hole and would return another day to actually install the fan. This should have been my first red flag. As the young boy started drilling the hole, I noticed that it was dangerously close to the adjoining wall. I asked him to stop and inquired whether he had measured the placement of the extraction unit. To my astonishment, he admitted he hadn't measured it and didn't even have the measurements for the fan. I had to take matters into my own hands and found the measurements on the fan's website. When I confronted the boy with the correct measurements, it became evident that the fan wouldn't fit in the corner Les had insisted on. This was a direct contradiction to what Les himself had advised. Frustrated, I called Les to express my concerns, only to be met with an incredibly dismissive response. He implied that I should have measured it myself, shifting the blame onto me for his lack of proper communication and planning. I reminded him that it wasn't my responsibility to measure and that the corner he had suggested was not my preference in the first place. It's astounding that he would have the audacity to disregard his own mistakes and shift the responsibility onto me, the paying customer. After this, I instructed the young boy to leave my property. Now I'm left with a gaping 6-inch hole in my kitchen wall, courtesy of Electrical4Hire. Les promised to send someone to repair the hole, but after multiple attempts to contact him, he has conveniently stopped responding. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of customer care is appalling. What's particularly infuriating is the exorbitant quote of £600 for the job, which supposedly covered a meager £130 fan and a whopping £470 for labor. It's clear that Les was paying his apprentice a fraction of this amount and pocketing the rest. I feel completely taken advantage of and ripped off. This entire experience has been a nightmare, and I can't help but feel that Checkatrade, the platform that's supposed to ensure reputable tradespeople, let me down by featuring Electrical4Hire. I will attach photos of the damage caused by this company to my property, which is a grim reminder of their utter incompetence. I strongly advise anyone considering hiring Electrical4Hire to think twice before making such a costly mistake. Luckily I booked the day off work so that I was able to stop the boy from continuing to drill the hole. Otherwise if I was not there to stop him the hole would now be all the way through the external wall to the outside of my property with no fan to fill the hole.
Les overcharges and doesn’t do any of the work himself, new board and fan fitted didn’t want to know about any issues after he was paid!
Les and his team do all my electrics for my extensions he is very professional and is always on time which is a massive part in building, can't fault his work very honest and reliable

Hired Les for an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). Very professional, punctual, efficient and informative. Would highly recommend.
Called at 10 and they arrived earlier than the estimated 'early afternoon' which was great as I was unable to use any socket in my house. They were very quick to diagnose the problem and fix. Reasonable price too.
Very quick and professional service. Good advice given and tidy workmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Electrician 4 Hire for any electrical work.
Great job done, have recommended to others as well thoroughly impressed and really great prices, they can do anything, that's really reassuring to know will hire them again soon as we've got a project going on 👍👍👍
We contacted Electrician 4 Hire after being highly recommended by friends and weren't disappointed - we were looking to have extensive ceiling lighting and new sockets installed. Les Grayson the CEO of the company came to see us and gave us different options, along with a wide variety of fittings, and price plans to consider before we agreed to undertake any work. We cannot fault the professionalism and attention to detail, they showed us where a friend who had done some electrical work previously was seriously flawed and potentially dangerous. The excellent quality of their work is equalled by their impeccable cleanliness in ensuring at every stage of installation, there was no mess left for us to clean. Anyone looking for a highly qualified, experienced, responsible, efficient and worth "every penny" electrician, then you certainly won't go wrong contacting Electrician 4 Hire. We are more than happy too, for anyone should they want to view and inspect the excellent work done for us
Great job done! Professional, arrived on time and job completed to high standard. Would defiantly recommend
