Bill attended to conduct an EICR for our landlord. Bill identified a number of issues and one of which was potentially dangerous. He was very knowledgeable and informative. We discovered that our Landlord and Letting Agent had failed to comply with the law for the past 5 years. Bill attended a few days later to chance the consumer unit to comply with the current regulations. If I could leave zero star I would. Used this firm recently to do a Landlord 5 yearly check on a 1980's house in Plymstock. The installation was failed by this firm with an invoice for nearly £800 of remedial work before a satifactory certificate could be issued. Suspecting I was being ripped off after smart meters were fitted since the last check and western power had reason to visit when power in the street went off and neither saw anything wrong, I employed an identically qualified electrician to do a further check days later and it passed without question. The electricians trade body NICEC are not regulators so can't do nothing and trading standards won't as I'm considered a 'business' as I rent a house out-so off to the small claims court with these jokers for my £150 I paid to get an honest check after this attempted rip off.I do wonder how many other people were forced into doing unnecessary work by these people???

I have used Goodwin Electrical before to service my EV charger. Unfortunately my charger stopped working, I called Bill and he popped around to take a look within a day. He advised the charger was broken and would need to be replaced. He was quick to quote for the replacement and came within a few days to fit the new charger. Bill recommended the Zappi Glo and I happily accepted his recommendation. So far the charger has been easy to setup and use. It has lots of great features sure a a charging lock and integration with my energy supplier. It's much better than my old Pod Point charger. I highly recommend Goodwin Electrical, they are friendly, competitive and offer a great service.

Phoned up asking if they were at capacity, as I needed a huge job done (full rewire), but once I asked the electrician on the phone raised his voice basically saying "we have the best marketers" and "Our business is doing great our capacity is fine", without letting me even speak. AVOID, electrician has an ego bigger than Plymouth itself.

Ive just had some electrical work undertalen by Bill and team in my property. Bill attended to the work promptly the booking system was very efficent to use. I would very happily recommend Goodwin electrical after they advised and fitted a new Zappi-Glow EV charger to our separate garage - taking care to sympathetically hide cables as needed - and then handling all aspects of notifying both building control and our energy supplier. All this included careful registration and handover of the charger - and software and the Zappi app - all in perfect working order.

We have used father and son Bill and Ryan of Goodwin Electrical on numerous occasions to fit new lighting and sockets around the house and they were our first and only choice to carry out the EICR report to our home and rectify any faults found which in our case was the consumer unit which they installed with minimum fuss. They are a local electrical company and very professional and competent in their work and at a very reasonable price and we highly recommend them.

I had a problem with my solar panels and emersion heater and was finding it difficult to find someone who had the knowledge in the system. I contacted Bill who got back to me promptly and arranged an appointment. Bill was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly and went above and beyond to rectify the problem with the solar panels. Bill replaced the faulty thermostat on my emersion heater, set up and connected the system properly and also advised me on best way to use the system. Now I have hot water and very happy the problem as been resolved. Great service, and I highly recommend Goodwin electrical.

From first contact to installation cannot fault Bill and his work. Solved a problem with my EV charging installation without fuss. Firstly I don't like leaving negative reviews unless its needed. We had Bill from Goodwin Electrical given us the quotations for an EV Charger, all correspondence was passed through Bill, and he carried out the installation . Prior to the installation, I sent Bill various emails with information he requested and our system requirements, this included that we didn't want our home battery solar storage system to discharge to the ev charger when the car is charging. Bill arrived promptly on the day the install was due. Myself and Bill had a conversation prior to work commencing, and I clarified with him that the home battery wouldn't discharge charge to the ev charger and his response was I've fitted 100's of these. 4 hours later the installation was completed. We were picking up the new ev car the day after the installation, so we were unable to test the system . When we did charge the car, it drained the house battery.  Contacted Bill and he said its nothing to do with the installation but need to speak to Myenergi the ev charger manufacturer. After a lot of time, I got clarification that the system was wrongly connected as per our requirements and all information passed to Bill, he then stated that I didn't give enough information at the time of quotation and that I didn't pass on that our installation had 2 PV systems, this has no relevance in the face that the home battery will always discharge to anything that's connected to the load side of the battery (ev charger). Bill then said additional equipment would be required to obtain what we asked for, so a quotation was produced,  By this time I had lost faith in Goodwin electrical and as per there terms and conditions I had to notify them that is was leaving a less than 5 star review.  Bill then reissued a revised quote less that half of what was requested,  this was also rejected,  he then offered a 2nd revised quote at zero cost. I have since had the work completed by another electrician, all is connected correctly and full operational. Other issues with the original Installation, CT clamp fitted in wrong location, Bill quoted a White ev charger, they only come in black and no apologies from Goodwin Electrical. I would say if you have a simple ev installation requirements then Goodwin Electrical maybe a consideration as they are listed o the Myenergi website but if you have a more involved installation then perhaps go elsewhere.

We were really pleased with our EV charger installation. Not a straightforward job in an old house but the guys worked their way through each challenge and communicated with us every step of the way. Would highly recommend.

I don't know anything about electrics but when I moved into my new house I knew they needed looking at just from the age of the fuse board. Goodwin Electrics Contractors I would recommend any time they are very professional and safety is paramount and only to willing to help with questions, In my case when they transferred and replaced an old fuse box to a new location including further ancillary work.

Bill and Goodwin Electrical were first rate. I cannot praise them highly enough. Bill came to replace ceiling lights and had it done in no time and with no fuss. They went out of their way to find chrome lights which have made a real difference to the ceiling in the bathroom. Bill and his team recently carried out an install of a new Consumer Unit, Kitchen, Bathroom and External Security Lights. We were kept informed all through the Installation and the communication was very good from his team. Had an unexpected part shut down of our electricity supply to downstairs on Saturday. Was not able to reset the rcd box so called Goodwin electical for assistance. Was able to speak via the chat box which I must say was a good experience. Unfortunately they weren't able to offer an emergency call out but luckily we were able to keep freezer &tv working using an extension reel &the upstairs electric.A visit was arranged for Monday so not too much of an inconvenience. If the situation had been more dire would need to have gone elsewhere. Good communications, clear written quotations, discussed options regarding the work, flexible on start dates, onsite on time and respected our property at all times whilst working. The work (instillation of a PIV System, Shower Fan plus additional Bathroom Fan, and Kitchen Hob Extraction Fan) was completed to a good standard and unforeseen obstacles were easily overcome. Contacted Goodwin electrical as we had a very old fuse board that needed upgrading to current times and code contacted Goodwin and got a very quick response which they then booked a appointment to quote for works got a quote which was very easy to read paid the deposit for works to be completed and works date was booked in quickly. Very good communication with follow up texts and emails confirming time of arrival on the day 2 really nice young chaps installed our fuseboard and earth bonding I had a small thing that I wanted changing after the lads left and they even come back the next morning to make the adjustment 5 star service from start to finish would highly recommend going with this company. Bill was 100% professional, and provided a solution for my problem when the original installer had gone but and the original equipment provider took 2 weeks just to pass my request for help to their technical department! The work has been carried out to the highest standards, Bill braved failing light and a rain shower and stayed until he'd completed the job fully, including walking me through the associated app. 100% recommended!

The estimate, survey and fitting were done quickly. The system was fitted , explained and the app set up within 3 hours. The lads who did the survey were told about the solar panels, and the meter for Solar was next to the fuse box. However, they failed to mention this when the final estimate was issued and I had to pay for an additional clamp. It was only £24, but it was unexpected! Other than that I would recommend using Goodwin Electrical.

I used Goodwin Electrical for some insurance work which required my solar panels on my roof to be removed with some scaffolding to be put up as well. Goodwin Electrical actually arranged the scaffolding as well! All the way through the process his team kept me informed on everything that was needed to be done with clear deposit requirement and clear payment details. Whilst Goodwin were here I actually mentioned a light in my kitchen that needed doing and they replaced it with a lovely L.E.D light fitting! Many thanks Goodwin Electrical. Hands down best tradesman I've ever used. Was prompt, professional, understanding of the job required, was able to diagnose what I needed done without pushing for more intrusive solutions, was understanding about my work situation and was able to complete the job with me being away from site. They scaled down the job on the day as the job was discovered to be simpler than expected and adjusted the price accordingly. They were also able to complete the job without requiring me to cover up the work through replacement tiles, reapplying vinyl flooring and painting over plaster etc so the money I've saved has been a godsend. Very poor service. Wanted a simple item removed, was provided a quote and told it would be completed promptly. When he arrived, the bill was extortionate. When liaising with the males they were argumentative and unprofessional. Would highly recommend not using them and looking elsewhere.

Goodwin Electrical have dealt with me, on behalf of my elderly mother, in the installation of an electrical board and an electric combi central heating system in a tenanted property during the pandemic lock-down! Officially it was Bill's day off, but he was extremely polite and helpful. Having described the problem I sent him a photo of the fuse board which showed that none of the trip switches had tripped. Goodwin Electrical are excellent. We rang them to report a fault on our Solar system and later that day Bill arrived as promised, tested the system and identified the fault. Then he promptly helped us to liaise with the manufacturers to organise a replacement of the faulty equipment using the guarantee which we had thought had long since expired. I used Bill to fit an electric fan in my bathroom. He was very quick to reply to emails from me, when organising the actual date and time. When he came to do the job, he was punctual, very knowledgeable about his trade and I knew I was in good hands. What was equally important to me was the fact that he was totally trustworthy: I happily left him to it and got on with something I had to do donwstairs. No need to look over this one's shoulder.
