I am writing to share a deeply concerning experience regarding work carried out by Ali at my mother's flat a few years ago. Ali advised my then 78-year-old mother, who was battling terminal cancer, that the entire flat required rewiring. We proceeded with half of the flat, incurring a cost of £6,000. Within a few months, a different qualified electrician inspected the work. This second electrician promptly identified that the overarching issue was a single faulty socket, which they resolved at no charge, restoring full functionality to the entire flat. This directly contradicted Ali's assessment that a full rewire was necessary. Beyond the work being largely unnecessary, two independent electricians subsequently confirmed that we were significantly overcharged for the work completed, and that the standard of the work was not of a sufficiently high quality. The stress and financial burden caused by this unnecessary and costly work significantly impacted my mother during her final year as she has since passed away. We ultimately decided not to pursue further action, as our priority was to ensure her remaining time was not consumed by this distressing issue. He would also not accept being served as the address he listed on the Gov company house website denied all knowledge of knowing him. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise extreme caution when considering Ali's services. The recommendation for extensive and ultimately unnecessary work, combined with questionable workmanship and inflated costs, raises serious concerns about ethical practice. I would urge anyone considering hiring him to seek multiple, independent opinions.
