Pete Austin Electrical Services is described across many reviews as friendly, professional and tidy, with reviewers reporting work such as full rewires, socket and lighting changes, fault finding and remedial work after a previous electrician. Reviewers repeatedly say Pete and Nathan explained what they were doing, kept disruption down and left areas clean. Several reviewers mention certificates and testing, and one reviewer reported a serious problem: they said minor works certificates promised in the quote took weeks and repeated calls, one was signed by someone else, the second never arrived, and they said the circuit had not been tested before Pete left; they also said a request for a refund went unanswered. A separate reviewer said Pete forgot a quote visit and then failed to turn up for the arranged job after they had taken time off work. Reviewers also report a flat refusal to recommend him again or a warning that his conduct may affect others.
I honestly couldn’t recommend Peter and his team highly enough. I’ve been going through a very difficult time following brain tumour surgery, so having the house rewire completed smoothly and without unnecessary stress meant a lot to me. Peter made the whole process so much easier, keeping everything organised and making sure things went as smoothly as possible. A big thank you to Peter, Nathan and the other electrician on the team, whose name I unfortunately can’t remember. They were all professional, friendly, helpful and hardworking. It was a real relief to have people I could trust in my home during such a challenging time. I’m hoping to have my kitchen ready to go soon, and I’ll definitely be working with Peter again in the future. It’s great to find a reliable team that genuinely cares about their customers. Thanks again to Peter, Nathan and the whole team for a brilliant job! 👏
Lovely man! Amazing electrical work I would definitely recommend!
Pete and Nathan have worked exceptionally hard installing wiring, moving sockets, installing lights and carrying out remedial work which was necessary due to a previous electrician. They are highly professional, patient, explain each step and give options for solutions with no pressure. They are very personable and pleasant to have in the home and invariably leave everywhere cleaner than when they found it. This the second property on which they have helped and I would highly recommend these gentlemen to anyone.
Speedy, friendly service from Pete. Would defo contact again if I have any other electrical problems.
Pete was recommended by our bathroom fitter and we could see why he provided excellent service and did such a great job, when we called for more work he gave us the quote and was able to do the work the following day which was much appreciated, we would definitely recommend PA Electrical
Good professional work,highly recommended.
We are extremely pleased with the excellent work carried out by Pete and his colleague at our home. They were puntual, friendly and completed the job to a very high standard. They explained everything clearly, worked neatly and efficiently, and made sure everything was safe and tidy before leaving.Their attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship were outstanding. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable ans skilled electrician. Thank you both for the fantastic work. Jose & Elizabeth
Pete and Nathan helped to identify an issue where one socked circuit was tripping the RCD. They systematically tested all sockets in the house to identify where the issue was. It turned out to be a corroded cable under a concrete floor. They were able to replace the wire and make good the repairs, as well as performing detailed checks on the rest of the property and went over and above even fitting new fire alarms for me. Both are very knowledgeable and professional, would not hesitate to use them again, or recommend to friends and family.
Very responsive, easy to communicate with electrical firm who had good availability and prompt provision of the report, invoice and confirmation of dates. Also highly recommended from another well-rated electrician who unfortunately couldn't help with our request whilst searching around for quotes - will also be highly recommended from myself.
Reasons in John Wall's review.
Sinister Experience. All smiles until we asked for the minor work certificates that he committed to provide us in his quotation. We were in the process of selling our house and needed them, a situation Mr Austin was aware of. It took 3 weeks and many unanswered calls and mails getting one of the certificates (out of 2). It was signed by another person on his behalf. The second one never arrived and so we issued a complaint at the NICEIC. Mr Austin then was willing to provide it, but it came to light that he hadn't tested the circuit after finishing the work and before leaving the house, so he needed to return. At that point we had already transferred the property and we were not in a position to allow access. Given that he had failed to complete the certificate within the 25 days allowed, we asked Mr Austin to return us the money had paid for it. Never received an answer. This is an update dated 9/07/2025 in order to reply to Peter Austin's response. I am Irene Wall, John's wife. We kept your phone number and email address, as well all the messages you and I exchanged, in which I asked for the second certificate. However, I prefer to respond to you publicly, as your conduct may affect others. You claim your response is impartial, but I can state that it is false. Firstly, my husband never told you that I was a solicitor or threatened you in any way, for the simple reason that you were speaking with me and not with him. Regarding the second certificate, the minor works certificate, which you now claim was not due, I refer to what was said at the time by the NICEIC and by yourself. NICEIC technical team: "RCD in meter cupboard fitted inside an enclosure. Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC) should be issued by the competent person." Your email from 15/06/2023: "Today I have received a complaint form from NICEIC that you have raised with them concerning the work myself and Nathan carried out at your property. I am more than happy to return to get this rectified and the next available date that I have available..." Your email from 16/06/2023: "I have had another email today from the NICEIC. They have asked me to contact you directly to explain the situation". "To enable me to issue you with a test report then I have to carry out the testing on the circuit in question. I cannot write up a report without carrying out the required tests". "They need me to return to complete the works or the matter cannot be resolved". "You have until Sunday evening before 19:00 to respond to myself directly and failure to do so I will assume means that you do not want me to return to finish the work that I started and I will attend another customer..." And finally, my email from19/06/2023 —the way you found out I have a background in Law—, which I sent a copy to the NICEIC: "So, to fully understand the situation (electricity is not my field of knowledge, I am a Bachelor of Laws): are you telling me that you left the house without carrying out the necessary test to issue the certificate you are obliged to give us by the regulations? And, moreover, that you sent us an invoice and took payment for a job that you hadn't finished?"
Pete came in as part of my extension and highlighted a serious condition of the electrics. I know how bad they were as I saw them first hand. Pete and Nathan done a full rewire and attention to detail and safety was amazing. He manged to keep working round us and was never in the way. Ensure you get your electrics checked as mine was hidden and in a poor state and I highly recommend Pete 100% trust worthy. Thank you Pete for all you have done i will use you again
Pete was the electrician for our kitchen fit. He helped us from the initial stages of advising on work, throughout to the final fit and testing. There were a few very helpful bits of work he completed on the way, leaving us with an electrically safe house and a kitchen we're very pleased with. Can definitely recommend- Thanks Pete!
I found Pete's advert in our local neighbourhood directory, phoned him and left a message that I needed a garden light re-fitted. Pete returned my call to say he was in the area and wanted to look at what I needed. We then booked a date he could carry out the repairs. On the day he was prompt, professional and efficient in carrying out the work. He didn't leave any mess and asked me if I was happy with the work he carried out. Pete was really helpful and did a really good job in 45 minutes. Pete is now my go-to-guy for anything electrical from now on. THANKS PETE!
Pete and Nathan were brilliant on our rewire job completed just before xmas and then on a separate follow up job we needed doing urgently. Lovely to deal with, professional and innovative to sort problems out. We would highly recommend. Thanks guys! J&K
My 91 year old mum used Pete to do some jobs after she came out of hospital recently. He was quick to respond, fitted an external light, new bathroom light and fixed the extractor in the bathtt r on that had stopped working ages ago. Pete is a nice bloke I hacc dc no concerns leaving him at my mums house, his prices were very reasonable and could not recommend him highly enough.
If you're looking for a sparks available to do work in the BSE area look no further than Pete. He has a pleasant manner, listens to his client, does a thorough job and (!) does not cut corners, and for me this is huge. I need to trust my sparks!! Frankly, I'll never use anyone, but Pete.
Professional, reliable & friendly. Work was carried out to a high standard. Highly recommended.
Friendly, professional and hard working. Calls a spade a spade! Both Pete and Nathan worked really hard to update an antiquated fuse box (and fit a couple of wall lights). Stuck to the (fair) quote, even though I'm sure it took them twice as long as expected. Would recommend :)
If you need an electrician with knowledge, experience and skill? This is your guy! If you want reliable, friendly and fairly priced? This is your guy! There are not many skilled, decent and honest contractors out there these days. So grab this one while you can. You won’t regret it. X
We had occasion to use Pete Austin Services today. We found him to be professional, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We have no hesitation in recommending his services
Pete was very good.Fixed the fault in no time. Thoroughly recommended.
Pete came highly recommended to me and didn’t let me down. Fast & responsive in being available for an urgent job for my mother. Professional & courteous with the work completed quickly and to a high standard. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks Pete!
Had a complete rewire, very happy with the price, with the work, big improvement! Reliable friendly service, would use again
The experience I had of Pete and his colleagues could not have been better. They were efficient and courteous at every stage of the operation, which was a complete household rewiring, and I am delighted with the results. Everything was thoroughly explained and skillfully executed, and at a very good price too. I would unhesitatingly recommend this company to anyone for electrical works.
Pete and Nathan worked on a two storey kitchen extension and self contained annex over about a year - with some interruptions for covid - they looked after everything from incoming supply, power two kitchen installations and internal / external lighting and internet. Great input into the project meant we result exceeded our expectations. Quality of work, flexible approach and follow-up great. Would recommend Pete for any similar work - Great Job.
Pete quoted for three options for some wiring in my Fathers bungalow, he explained everything and the quotation was very comprehensive. On the day of arrival, he arrived in good time and as he was able to bring a colleague the project was completed in excellent time. He left the area clean and tidy. He also gave me excellent advice on future projects. I will be asking him to do some work in my home shortly. Highly recommended.
A fantastic service at a fantastic price. This is a ‘credit where credit is due’ review. I would thoroughly recommend Pete for any manner of domestic work. He completed a number of works on my property during a renovation. He is honest with his advice but sensitive to the needs of the customer, which results in a no nonsense approach. Furthermore, to his credit he is open about his pricing which makes budgeting easy. To top it off, he turned up when he said he would, worked around other trades and delivered on time. I was not disappointed and would happily recommend to family and friends.
Great experience. Highly professional and skilled. Turned up on time and sorted our issue with no fuss. Very neat and tidy work. Would highly recommend and also great value for your money!
Top job, very happy. Friendly too!
Pete fitted 4 ceiling lights and fixed some sockets for me he did a great job and I’m very pleased I’d highly recommend him
Pete was wonderful. He even fixed my washing machine which had been set up incorrectly! A friendly, trustworthy electrician, I HIGHLY recommend Pete Austin!
Excellent and professional service. Will be using again
Efficient & professional. Job was carried out on time & as quoted
very poor service. I arranged for this man to come and give me a quote for a small job and he forgot to visit. He did come and give me a quote after I had phoned him to advise him that we had arranged a meeting and he gave me a date to do the job. However, he was as unreliable about returning to do the job as he was at coming to provide the quote. After two hours of waiting for him this afternoon to come and do the work I phoned him to be told he could not do the work today. I work and took time off to be in for him today. Not good enough Mr Austin
