David performed a survey on a property for me in South Lakes. He did this at very short notice, it was mainly at request from mortgage company. His report was very detailed and impressive. He included lots of information and advice for resolving concerns making his report something that I have been referring back to on a number of occasions. Highly recommended if you want a detailed survey.

We contacted David to get advice on how to care for the basement in a coastal property we have just purchased. David arrived on time and then basically gave us a masterclass in understanding how a period property “works” and gave us excellent advice on how to manage it going forward. I can honestly say his professionalism, expert knowledge and obvious enthusiasm was above and beyond what anyone will expect. The day after his visit, David contacted me to go over a few more details that he thought pertinent and could help. All this was then wrapped up in a final email, collating all the points we had discussed with links to reference pages and hardware / solutions etc. We 100% endorse David.

I’d highly recommend David. He is so knowledgable, he explained the findings of his inspection clearly and answered any questions I had, as well as being just a genuine and very friendly man! As he is independent, I didn’t feel like David was trying to sell me anything, and he truly cared about finding the root cause of our problems unlike a local damp proofing company I’d contacted beforehand, who were unable to diagnose the issues I feel so confident that we can now tackle the damp problems in our house thanks to David, and we have also learnt so much about cavity walls, wall ties and conditions for rotting timber.

We’ve recently bought a Victorian property and have issues with sporadic damp patches in the bedrooms below two chimney stacks. Can’t rate David highly enough. After asking for an independent damp survey on a house we recently bought, David came to the house spent time listening to our concerns and looking at the property, then talking all his findings through with us. He was really thorough and made sure we understood what he was talking about including possible ways of fixing our damp issues and what we could potentially do ourselves to save money. He followed the visit up by sending us lots of information and said we could call with any further questions. Couldn’t have asked for more.

David came out to our property on quite short notice to do a damp survey, he arrived on time and spent a long time going through each room, taking time to explain to me what he was doing and looking for etc. After he was done he gave me the option of a verbal or written report, we chose verbal and we took notes, he was extremely patient and answered all of my (many) questions! I never felt like an inconvenience even though I was asking basic questions. We now know what to do going forward to help manage moisture and the damp spots we're seeing and what we can do to stop them going forward. Highly recommended, very polite and professional service from start to finish!

It was so good to find David. He undertook a full damp survey at short notice for us when we were in the middle of a house sale and had some concerning reports. David is based too far from me to be able to come and do a survey in person but he very kindly spent more than an hour discussing my situation on WhatsApp of an evening. He clearly knows what he's talking about. I felt much more confident in his advice than that of damp surveys carried out by damp proofing companies. He also sent me lots of helpful resources by email. Refused all offers of payment for his time so this review is my payment in lieu!

It was so good to find David and to have his expert opinion on our house. He undertook a full damp survey after we became concerned at the level of moisture in our house and loft. David was incredibly thorough, clearly an expert and, best of all, extremely generous with his time and expertise - talking us through his report, encouraging us to ask questions and making practical suggestions as to how to tackle our issues. David's comprehensive report highlighted all the serious issues that were certainly not obvious to me; water ingress, damp, high humidity, woodworm, buckled walls, roof replacement ect. and the solutions /costs to fix them. Following damp issues flagged in a level 3 survey David responded quickly when I enquired and was able to book in a specialist damp survey for the following week. The report was very detailed and he talked it through on a phone call with me so that I could understand the benefits and risks of various courses of action and which things need to be addressed more urgently.

We used Aldred to get an independent damp survey on our old cottage. David is very knowledgable and took time to discuss his findings and explore the options. I was recommended David by a friend and he was brilliant. We used Aldred Ltd because of great recommendations, I wasn’t sure we would get a survey slot with Dave because we live so far away in Cheshire but this was no problem at all, Dave was happy to travel to help us out. We were buying a house that we had some concerns over. Dave sent a vast and detailed report on his findings with honest advice to rectify things saved us not hundreds but thousands of pounds. Dave’s report helped us get a mortgage on the property which would have not happened without it. I originally found David while searching for a damp surveyor for my mum’s property in Poulton. We were so impressed with his work and extensive report that a few months later, I asked him to carry out a post-completion damp survey on a house my partner and I had just purchased in York. Our only regret is not instructing him before completion - he identified several issues we hadn’t been aware of, including a structural problem that our original surveyor completely missed. David’s knowledge and passion is truly outstanding. Dave is truly independent , experienced and knowledgeable. His report was in depth and included photographs where appropriate. He did recommend certain products but did so without any pressure to buy. He did not try to sell me anything. He offered suggestions and recommendations on how to solve the problems with my chimney and internal chimney breast which would form a basis for the remedial work needed. I would strongly recommend.
