Several reviewers describe Andrew at Sheffield Woodcraft as a craftsman and report that his work is beautifully made and well finished, including gates and fencing. Two reviewers say he pays careful attention to detail, and several report that he was easy to work with, attentive to what they wanted and responsive. One reviewer says he worked from images provided for a Menorcan-style gate, another says he made a dog-proof hazel fence with neat, tidy work, and another says he made and installed gates and cleft fencing with good communication throughout. The same reviewer had previously tried four carpenters who did not ring back or disappeared, and says Andrew was a contrast. Other individual reviewers mention forestry and carpentry skills, and garden screening and sketch ideas.
Beautifully made gates. Andrew pays careful attention to every little detail. A real craftsman!
Andrew's work is beautiful and a real aesthetic addition to the front of our house. It's great to know it's all made with local wood, and the handmade feel to the work is what drew me to work with Andrew. He was very attentive to what I was looking for, suggested the best approach, and was really easy to work with. I'd definitely get him back for some other projects in the future.
Andrew has done forestry and (epic) carpentry work for me. Skilled in both I highly recommend him.
So very easy to work with and the result is stunning. Looks and feels like it’s built to last.
We recently had a Menorcan-style gate made, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. The workmanship is excellent—exactly what we wanted. Andrew at Sheffield Woodcraft worked from images we provided and created something truly special that means a great deal to us. The gate has a beautifully rustic charm that perfectly complements our surroundings. The quality and craftsmanship are outstanding, and the service throughout was excellent. We highly recommend Sheffield Woodcraft for anyone looking for high-quality, bespoke work.
"I needed to make my garden dog-proof, so our new dog couldn’t get out. I explored many different types of fencing and decided that Hazel would be perfect. Andrew came and did an amazing job. He’s a true craftsman—his work is neat, tidy, and highly effective, but it also looks much better than traditional larch lap fencing. You’ll be amazed by his environmental credentials."
We had tried four different carpenters to quote, make and install a made to measure side gate for us. With responses ranging from 'can't be bothered to ring back' to 'visit, say how busy you are and then disappear'! Andrew made contact through our garden designer (Helen Warburton) and brought a breath of fresh air - reliable, excellent customer service and first class 'bespoke' carpentry. He made and installed both the rear gate (plus cat entry!) and a short 8m length of cleft fencing, keeping contact with us throughout. Both look great and add character to our cottage, we could not be happier. Hopefully we will see him again as we develop the garden. Mike Brookes
I am an interior designer working on high end projects in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the UK and am always looking for talented and unique craftspeople to bring beautiful pieces and materials to my projects. One of my clients wanted some screening for the exterior of their home and within the garden and having seen Andrew's work, I knew he could produce something interesting and different from the bog-standard most people put into their gardens. Andrew was helpful, responsive and creative. He came to site and came up with sketch ideas and quotes, quickly. He is clearly also passionate about what he does. The screens are now in place and look lovely and in keeping with a period property. WE are planning some bespoke free standing furniture for the garden with Andrew for next year and I am very excited to see them in place.
